The Catholic Prayer Breakfast

The Catholic Prayer Breakfast
www.cinopbsbegone.org – St. Jerome, Priest and Doctor, Wed., Sep. 30, 2009

At Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort, Garden Grove, California, U.S.A.:

“Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and if man does not know Scripture does not know the power and wisdom of God, then ignorance of the Scripture, is ignorance of Christ.” St. Jerome

Homily: Bishop Todd Brown:

We have the Memorial of St. Jerome today. He lived in the 4th and 5th centuries. He became a monk and was a great Scripture Scholar. He made the first complete translation of the Bible into Latin. (Vulgate)

We must note the importance of Scripture. As Catholics, we don’t have a great appreciation of the Bible.

World wide bishops meet every 3 years. Last October was the 12th meeting of the Synod. On the agenda: Word of God is the Life and Ministry of the Church.
There is the hope of the Assembly of Bishops that we encourage Catholics to appreciate the Bible more; and the Eucharist which is the source and summit of life. Finally, we can meet with Christian Churches and others who have their own text of beliefs. (Koran) It is to build a world of peace and light.

Guard the Bible in your home and transform it into a witness and light. Become alive; next to the Eucharist in importance is the Bible. Find a place of quiet in your home. Be a witness and light and in silence pray the word of God.

Speaker: Matthew Kelly: Speaking to us on Prayer:

He started as a youth by stopping by the Church each day for 10 minutes. In the beginning it was planning time for the next 3 weeks. But planning your day is really not prayer. The big question is, God, what do you think I should do?

Christian life is not sustainable without daily prayer. Our lives change when our habits change. The Word of God needs to sink its roots into our lives. Start with the Gospel – 15 minutes each for a whole year.

We are drifting towards the gospel of inconvenience. Pray for your enemies! When was the last time we prayed or Bin Laden.

Catholics are hungry for something authentic. How do we speak to our age? How can we make it passionate, inspiring and purposeful? Catholics can participate in a future bigger than the past and they can play a role in it.

Come up with some phrase that they can believe gather behind. “I don’t know that phrase!” Where is our Ignatius, Francis or others? Let us not persecute them or stay sidelined with the comment, I am too young or too old for that stuff.

Get into the habit of daily prayer. Get involved and get to know Jesus, the Shepherd. (23rd Psalm)

Brian Burch, President of CatholicVote.org - ‘Obama’s Catholic Plan’ - 9/18/09

You may also have received the following e-mail from Brian. This organization proudly partnered with the Cardinal Newman Society in support ‘NotreDameScandal.com.’ Over 350,000 people signed the petition urging the leadership of Notre Dame to reconsider bestowing such an honor on anyone who proudly defends the Culture of Death.

President Obama is working hard to re-define what it means to be a Catholic voter.

(1)President Obama is filling his administration with prominent pro-abortion Catholics, including Kathleen Sebelius, Ken Salazar, and Leon Panetta. Catholics Tom Daschle and Bill Richardson were also nominated but backed out. Don’t forget Vice-President Joe Biden!

(2)THE OBAMA TEAM IS WORKING CLOSELY WITH GEORGE SOROS
FUNDED “CATHOLIC” GROUPS SUCH AS ‘CATHOLICS UNITED’ AND ‘CATHOLICS IN ALLIANCE FOR THE COMMON GOOD. These two organizations have useful idiots and financial supporters in each U.S. Diocese.

(3)Obama named Alexia Kelley from ‘Catholics in Alliance’ to a plum position in his faith-based office. Also, his appointment of anti-Catholic bigot Henry Knox to his faith-based advisory council. Knox has called the Pope a “discredited leader,” and claimed that MEMBERS OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS WHO HELPED PASS THE CA LIF. MARRIAGE AMENDMENT WERE “FOOT SOLDIERS OF A DISCREDITED ARMY OF OPPRESSION.”

(4)When speaking earlier this year at Georgetown, Obama staffers demanded that the monogram ‘IHS’ on the pediment over the stage be covered up. IHS is a traditional abbreviation for the name of Christ.

The code words for these Catholic-Label propaganda appointees are Common
Ground. It requires our silence in the dialogue and concede on absolute principles.

This group of Catholics intends to fight this double-speak with powerful messages of real hope. The image of the cranky, hopeless Catholic is not for them. Their goal is to speak the truth – with joy. They think the “Catholic Vote” is worth fighting for. Politicians know it. The media knows it. But most importantly, our faith requires it.

Today, I mailed a $20. Check to CatholicVote.org, P.O. Box 2709, Chicago, IL 60690 – Tel. 312-201-6559. brianburch@catholicvote.org

In another e-mail titled Time for a Video on Health Care? - 9/24/09 – Should faithful Catholics be silent on health care? This organization plans to speak out. Please read closely and marvel at the solution of Bishop Walker Nickless of Sioux City, Iowa.

“Preserving patient choice (through a flourishing private sector) is the only way to prevent a health care monopoly from denying care arbitrarily, as we learned from HMOs in the past. While a government monopoly may not be motivated by profit, it would be motivated by such bureaucratic standards as quotas and defined “best procedures,” which are equally beyond the influence of most citizens. THE PROPER ROLE OF GOVERNMENT IS TO REGULATE THE PRIVATE SECTOR, IN ORDER TO FOSTER HEALTHY COMPETITION AND TO CURTAIL ABUSES. THEREFOR ANY LEGISLATION THAT UNDERMINES THE VIABILITY OF THE PRIVATE SECTOR IS SUSPECT.”

Reference Letters: The Big Con, the Legacy of Senator Ted Kennedy, a Major Breakthrough, and Cardinal Roger Mahony – 1

MATTHEW: 18: 15-18, “If a brother sins against you, go to him privately and confront him with his fault. I he listens and confesses it, you have won back a brother. But if not, then take one or two others with you and go back to him again, proving everything you say by these witnesses. If he still refuses to listen, the take one of two others with you and go back to him again, proving everything you say by these witnesses. If he still refuses to listen, then take your case to the Church, and if the Church verdict favors you, but he won’t accept it, then the Church should excommunicate him. And I tell you this – whatever you bind on earth is bound in heaven, and whatever you free on earth will be freed in heaven.”

Let us take a non-Catholic Christian professor or a Catholic writer like Russell Shaw and assign him to study the remarks of (Cardinal Roger Mahony – 1) from an historical and contemporary perspective via the history of the Canadian Catholic Church for the last 50 years. What would they come up with from a pro-life perspective? We focus this letter only on the historical aspect!

Keep in mind that we have under the microscope Catholic-label politicians who are not only for partial-birth abortion but also for same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, assisted-suicide and euthanasia. In Canada, they call themselves Liberals in the U.S.A., Democrats.

How did the Canadian Catholic Church treat the Catholic Liberals? As an ex-Canadian, the Liberals got away with murder literally and figuratively. “And they still call themselves Catholic.” For example, the Liberals were the chief sponsors of same-sex marriage in Canada only a few of years ago. That’s what frightens me deeply with the CINO Politicians in the United States!

I DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO THE AMERICAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN THE U.S.A.! The line must be drawn today and not tomorrow! AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION IS WORTH 50 MILLION POUNDS OF CURE AS WE HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH ABORTION.

In Canada the Catholic Church wanted to be Catholic in a Canadian manner. About 40 years ago, they repudiated Humanae Vitae. I don’t think they ever read Pope John Paul II encyclical of 1995, “The Gospel of Life.” Today the Canadian Catholic Church is lost and trying to find its way. Hopefully, they will follow the guidance of the Magisterium which they ignored years ago.

One of Canada’s best known priests, Rev. Thomas Rosica, CSB described the pro-life critics of the Kennedy funeral as “not agents of life, but of division, destruction, hatred, vitriol, judgment, and violence.” From this Canadian priest, these comments are shallow, meaningless, and have no substance. Please note an act of desperation when Father Rosica accused LifeSiteNews.com of doing the “work of Satan.” http://www.lifesitenews.com/idn/2009/sep/09091408.html

Abortion in Health Care “Way Beyond my Field”: Cardinal Mahoney
“I really haven’t kept up on that,” said the Cardinal about the health care/abortion issue. By John Jalsevac

September 23, 2009 (LIfeSiteNews.com) – in a recent interview with CNSNews.com, Cardinal Roger declined to answer a question about whether or not he agreed with Cardinal Justin Rigali that the Obama health care bill should include language explicitly excluding any public funding of abortion. “This is way beyond my field,” the cardinal responded.

“My field is immigration,” said Mahoney, who is archbishop of Los Angeles. “I really haven’t kept up on that, and I spend all my time on this other. You have to get someone who spends time on that.”

When asked whether he believed abortion should be funded under the health care bill, Cardinal Mahoney said: “No, but that’s what the president said, too, so.”

Cardinal Rigali, head of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops pro-life committee, has spoken out against Obama’s healthcare plan as currently money to pay for abortions.

In a letter to legislators on behalf of the U.S. Catholic bishops, Rigali wrote that, under the plan, “federal taxpayer funds will subsidize the operating budget and provide networks that expand access to abortions. Furthermore, those constrained by economic necessity or other factors to purchase ‘public plan’ will be forced by the federal government to pay directly and specifically for abortion coverage.”…

The Associated Press, as well as the non-partisan FactCheck.org have both confirmed that he healthcare plan would indeed funnel public money to abortion… the Catholic Medical Association (CMA) on Monday issued a letter expressing its formal opposition to the legislation. “We must ensure that well-intentioned efforts to bring about ‘change” are not exploited to create a federally controlled system that promises health care for all, but creates an oppressive bureaucracy hostile to human life and to the integrity of the patient physicians relationship,” wrote the Catholic organization.

According to a list compiled by Catholic blogger Thomas Peters of AmericanPapist.com, so far over 40 U.S. Catholic Bishops have explicitly spoken out against Obama healthcare reform for a number of reasons, the most prominent of which is the funding of the killing of unborn children with public money.

George H. Kubeck, Hopefully, all California Bishops will speak out on Obamacare.

A Major Breakthrough - 3 of 3

A Major Breakthrough – 3 of 3
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, September 24, 2009

Preface: The following is part 3 of 3 of an historical editorial written by Father Roger Landry, in the Sept. 11th, “The Anchor” of the Diocese of Fall River, Mass.

Many pastors have sought to exercise their teaching office, stating forthrightly what abortion is and what the responsibility of all legislators are with respect to it. All of their teaching has been trumped by the weightier educational value of the de facto “law” that has left everything to conscience, however ill-informed, of the pro-choice Catholic politicians. These men and women have learned over time that, regardless of what cannon law says, they are at liberty to ignore the Church’s teachings on life.

Even though the U.S. Bishops have taught with one voice that pro-choice Catholic legislators should not present themselves to receive Holy Communion, if they pay not need to that teaching and present themselves anyway, they have observed that in practice they will almost never be denied.

With Senator Kennedy’s funeral, they have now grasped that even a 100% pro-abortion voting record will not prevent them from having a Catholic funeral, but will not even stop them from receiving possibly one of the most publicly panegyrical Catholic funerals in U.S. history.

The upshot – these smart men and women have concluded – is that the Church’s practice is essentially “pro-choice” with respect to “pro-choice” Catholic politicians. The politicians’ own determination in conscience, erroneous or not, is given greater weight than, combined, the truth proclaimed by the Church, the duty to protect the politicians’ souls from a potential mortal wound, and the responsibility to do all that is possible according to one’s office to try to stop the killing. The education-alone approach has failed for the same reason that the personally opposed, publicly pro-choice position has led to massive abortion on demand: the nature of sin is that the easier it is to commit, and the fewer consequences for doing it, the more sin we’ll have.

JESUS SPOKE OF A DIFFERENT WAY IN THE GOSPEL (MT 18:15-18). IT INVOLVES NOT MERELY GENERAL EDUCATIONAL STATEMENTS THAT WE HOPE OFFENDERS WILL APPLY TO THEMSELVES IN CONSCIENCE, BUT THE TYPE OF ONE-ON-ONE INSTRUCTION TRADITIONALLY CALLED FRATERNAL CORRECTION. IF THAT FAILS REPEATEDLY, JESUS ENJOINED US TO REGARD THE OFFENDER AS SOMEONE WHO NO LONGER BELONGS TO THE COMMUNITY, WHO IS NO LONGER A MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING.

THIS MAY SEEM HARSH, BUT WE SHOULD REMEMBER THAT JESUS ALWAYS SEEKS NOTHING BUT THE BEST FOR HIS CHURCH AND FOR INDIVIDUAL SINNERS, EVEN OBSTINATE SINNERS. IMPLIED IN JESUS’ STRATEGY IS THAT EDUCATION INVOLVES NOT JUST INFORMATION , BUT FORMATION, AND THAT YOU CAN’T FORM DISCIPLES WITHOUT DISCIPLINE. THIS IS A LESSON THAT, AFTER FOUR DECADES OF THE UNDENIABLE FAILURE OF ANOTHER APPROACH, WE NEED TO CONSIDER ANEW.

A Major Breakthrough - 2 of 3

A Major Breakthrough – 2 of 3
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, September 24, 2009

Preface: The following is part 2 of 3 of an historical editorial written by Father Roger Landry, in the Sept. 11th, “The Anchor” of the Diocese of Fall River, Mass.

After looking at these (aforementioned) facts, it seems clear that the education alone strategy has failed even to deter many Catholics in Congress from becoming among the most radical supporters, defenders, and would-funders on Capitol Hill.

Why has the education-alone strategy been such a colossal failure? There are several reasons, but one of the most important, and least noted, is that it shares many of the same flawed approaches as the “personally opposed, publicly pro-choice” position it seeks to remedy.

Today, there are many “personally opposed pro-choice” Catholic Legislators for whom this phrase seems to just an empty slogan, because they give almost no evidence that they even have any personal opposition toward abortion. At least initially, however, there were some who sincerely held that irreconcilable position. These public figures had a deep personal repugnance for abortion but, for various reasons, were uncomfortable voting in favor of any laws that would prevent others from doing what they themselves maintain that they would never personally do.

Many hoped that women would not choose to abort their unborn sons and daughters. Some even spoke out on why they thought abortion was wrong and supported educational endeavors to help women in difficult pregnancies learn about fetal development.

No matter how much some politicians stressed education in the early days; it was trumped by the educational value and power of the law. The law taught forcibly that there was nothing wrong with abortion as long as a mother, and a mother alone, deemed it desirable for her physical and mental health.

Even though the politicians held offices in which they could work to change what the law itself teaches about the morality of abortion, they did not exercise them; and even though they professionally were accustomed, in every piece of legislation, to imposing some notion of the good on those who disagree with them, with regard to the issue of abortion they left everything to the judgment, ill-informed or not, of the conscience of the mother.

The essence of their position has been that, no matter how wrong they know abortion to be, the mother should have the right to do that wrong – a lethal permanent wrong to the unborn child. They give the ill-informed conscience of the potential wrongdoer greater weight than the truth about abortion, the life of the unborn child, and the soul and psyche of the soon-to-be forever-wounded mother combined.

When we examine the education-alone approach of pastors with respect to pro-choice politicians, we see that it has basically become a personally opposed, publicly pro-choice position as well. There’s obviously a clear personal repugnance on the part of pastors to the pro-choice Catholic politicians’ separation between faith and moral action, schizophrenia between private and public personality, and lip service personality, and lip service to the Church’s teachings… to be continued today.

A Major Breakthrough - 1 of 2

Ref: http://calcatholic.com/news/newsArticlePrintable.aspx?id=47894bf8-8bfc-466e-bld6-e046... 9/18/2009

Preface: There has been a major breakthrough with the challenge of how to deal with Catholic-in-name-only politicians for bishops and practicing Catholic laity.

Part 1 of the following editorial, written by Father Roger Landry, appeared September 11 edition of The Anchor from the Diocese of Fall River, Mass., and is a step in the right direction.

Last week, our editorial argued that one of the most important lessons pastors of the Church in the United States need to draw from the history of interactions with Senator Ted Kennedy on the sanctity of human life is that a strategy of conscience-education-alone with “personally opposed pro-choice” Catholic politicians hasn’t worked.

The attempt to engage, teach and help persuade such politicians to conversion didn’t succeed with Senator Kennedy and it hasn’t succeeded yet with other pro-choice Catholic legislators.

To say that it hasn’t succeeded, however, is really not strong enough. It’s possible, after all, to fail a test with a grade of 59; in such a case a student would be able to take some solace that, while there are some areas in need of improvement, he was close to minimal success.

If a student fails a test with close to a zero, on the other hand, he obviously needs to make some radical changes if he ever hopes to succeed. And that is closer to the candid assessment that leaders of the Church need to make relative to the education-alone strategy during the past few decades.

Let us take an honest look at the numbers. When we survey the long list of pro-choice Catholic politicians from both parties – Kennedy, Kerry, Giuliani, Schwarzenegger, Daschle, Dodd, Durban, Leahy, Mikulski, Pelosi, Delahunt, Capuano, Markey, McGovern, Meehan, Granholm, Sebelius, Pataki, Richardson, Cellucci, Cuomo, and Biden to name just a handful – is it possible to say that the strategy has worked with any of them? Over the last three and a half decades, can we point to even one success story?

Another way to assess the results of the education-alone strategy is to measure the direction that pro-choice Catholic politicians have moved over the years. Even if they haven’t experienced a total conversion, have they moved closer toward limiting abortions or toward making abortions easier to access?

The facts show that the vast majority of personally opposed, publicly pro-choice Catholic legislators have become far less personally opposed and far more publicly in favor over the duration of strategy.
In the initial years after Roe vs. Wade, publicly pro-choice Catholic legislators generally whispered their support for abortion. They displayed a palpable sense of shame, letting their abortion position out just enough so that it wouldn’t cost them the votes of abortion supporters.

That discomfort began to dissipate after Governor Mario Cuomo’s 1984 pro-choice defense at Notre Dame. We’ve now come to a situation when pro-choice Catholic legislators vigorously curry favor of Planned Parenthood, NARAL, Pro-Choice America and Emily’s List: scores of Catholics in Congress have the chutzpah to co-sponsor the Freedom of Choice Act, (FOCA), which would eliminate almost every abortion restriction ever passed at the federal or state level; and 16 out of 25 Catholic Senators vote against conscience protection to prevent fellow Catholics in the medical field from being forced to participate in abortions and sterilization. ..

The Legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy - 5

The Legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy - 5
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com - Monday, September 21, 2009

Ref: THE BIG CON – 6 LETTERS POSTED IN THE SEPT. BLOG

For 40 years, this deceased Kennedy was a leader of the Apostles of Dissent from the Catholic Faith on matters relating to the absolute evils of abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, assisted-suicide and euthanasia.

AND HERE IS WHAT WE GOT FROM THIS MAN!

“Consider the United States Religious Landscape Survey of 35,000 adult Americans by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. The results of this survey show that 31 percent of Americans were raised Catholic but only 24 percent of Americans still identify themselves as Catholics.

APPROXIMATELY 10 PERCENT OF ALL AMERICANS ARE FORMER CATHOLICS:

Further, while 2.6 percent of American converted to Catholicism, 10.1 percent of those born Catholic converted to another religion or no longer identify with any religion.

Catholics remain the largest religion in the United States, due in large part to Hispanic immigrants; almost half of all immigrants to the United States are Catholic, mostly Hispanic.” Homiletic & Pastoral Review, Cynthia Toolin, p. 18

Any Catholic who is close to the life issues, and particularly pro-life Protestant Christians believe the deceased Ted Kennedy was an abomination. At the same time, he brought a lot of converts from Catholicism into the Protestant Christian Faith. Yes, this is ALSO part of the legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy.

But wait! “An important chapter in our history has come to an end,” President Barack Obama said in a statement Aug. 26. “Our country has lost a great leader, who picked up the torch of his fallen brothers and became the greatest U.S. senator of our time.
“And the Kennedy family has lost their patriarch, a tower of strength and support through good times and bad,” he added.

But wait AGAIN! The Democratic Party of deceased President John F. Kennedy is dead. Dead as a door nail. President Obama is graciously thankful for the mindset of Ted Kennedy. Why? That PSUEDO-CATHOLIC mindset made possible his election as U.S. President.

Enter Mark Linton, a former staffer with Catholic Relief Services and aide to Obama in his days as U.S. Senator. Linton held the position of National Catholic Outreach Coordinator for Obama’s campaign as part of a campaign to convince Catholics that Obama was a candidate ACCEPTABLE to Catholics and even “pro-life” in some respects, touting a pledge from Obama to work to REDUCE the number of abortions in the U.S.A.

Denver Archbishop Charles Chaput had condemned last year’s efforts by Catholics like Linton, and especially law professor Doug Kmiec, to portray Obama as an acceptable Catholic candidate. In an October 2008 address entitled “Little Murders” Chaput stated, “To suggest – as some Catholics do – that Senator Obama is this year’s ‘real’ pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, moral confusion, or worse.”

But wait! Kennedy and Kerry got their revenge. Bush won the Catholic Vote over Kerry 52% to 47% in 2004. Obama won the Catholic Vote over McCain – 54% to 45%, 2008.

Life Chain - Locally and Nationally

Life Chain – Locally and Nationally
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Sunday, September 20, 2009

Life Chain Sunday this year is on Oct. 4th, 2:30 – 4 P.M. It is an extra half-hour this year. If you can come for the first half-hour or one hour and a half, or the last half hour, your PRAYERS and WITNESS will save lives. Prayer is our most powerful weapon.

We are and want to remain a pro-life nation. We pray with fellow Christians. This is a special Ecumenical Event. Royce Dunn, National Director of Life Chain, has seven reasons: +++Why Christians Should Attend the Local Life Chain! +++

(1)To join a national prayer chain that seeks God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness.
(2)To better understand the impact that legalized abortion is having on our country and why the Church must unite to end it.

(3)To move the Church, under pastoral leadership, from the pews to the “city gates” and “market place.”
(4)To both receive ministry and to minister, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

(5)To honor the many millions of pre-born citizens who have perished.
(6)To help build a bold and committed army of Christians who seek to be pro-life in word and deed.

(7)To provide God a witness to anoint and use lives and change hearts in our local area.

Some of the signs you will see are: “Life Chain – Silent – Prayerful – Peaceful”- “Life – The First Inalienable Right” - “Abortion Kills Children” - “El Aborto Mata Ninos” - “Abortion Hurts Women” - “Adoption the Loving Option” - “Jesus Forgive Us and Our Nation” “Jesus Forgives and Heals”

Obama and Archbishop Raymond Burke

Obama and Archbishop Raymond Burke
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Saturday, September 19, 2009

Excerpts of Editorial by Robert Moynihan, “Inside the Vatican,” June – July 2009:

Burke’s remarks were made on May 8th in Washington, D.C., at the National Prayer Breakfast. Obama’s remarks were made on May 17 at the University of N.D.

The crux of the issue, the place where the visions of the two men cannot be reconciled, is simple to understand. It is the question of human life – the life of the unborn baby – and whether that human life has a claim to protection by law.

Burke’s position is that all human life has a life to be protected. For Burke, reason (natural law) teaches that all human societies should provide a benevolent protection for human life through laws. A society that does not do so, a society which allows a class of human beings to be killed without any legal sanction, introduces, in Burke’s view, a profound injustice into its legal system, with consequences that ripple out, undermining the respect for justice, and for human life, throughout society.

Obama presented a different vision – that justice is something relative, that the highest principle of human social order is not to find justice itself, and protect it with just laws, but to honor and respect the moral judgments of others, even if those judgments are unjust. In this vision, wrong has rights. It has rights because the goal is to reconcile competing visions of an uncertain moral law, not to arrive at justice itself.

This is Obama’s principle of “common ground,” where wrong and right are equally at home. “When we open our hearts and our minds to those who may not think like we do –or believe what we do – that’s when we discover, at least the possibility of common ground,” Obama said. “That’s when we begin to say, “Maybe we won’t agree on abortion, but we can still agree that this is a heart-wrenching decision for any woman to make, with moral and spiritual dimensions. So let’s work together to reduce the number of abortions by reducing unintended pregnancies, and making adoption more available, and providing care and support for women who do carry their child to term.” {Clever!}

For Burke the highest principle is justice: if an action is unjust, it cannot be made just by human law.

For Obama, the highest principle seems to be a type of social peace: if an action is unjust, it can still be permitted for the sake of the supposed “peace” of society.

Burke finds in justice the measure of human action. Obama, seemingly, IN UTILITY, the useful.

And out of this difference, two types of human society inevitably unfold and develop: one based on justice, on what is good and right, the other on utility, on what is useful at the moment, without regard to transcendent consideration of the good or the just – our present society.

And the consequences are grave in all areas of human life, including family life, including the justice or injustice of the society’s financial system & the organization of its financial system & the organization of its economy – areas where the upcoming encyclical of the Pope will clarify how justice must be the goal of economic systems & laws….

George H. Kubeck: The above is the gauntlet that should be thrown at the minds of all U.S. Catholic-in-name-only politicians. If they refuse; the offender no longer belongs to the community. These are the words of Jesus Christ. That is best for individual and Church.

Three Questions from Nat. Right to Life

Three Questions from Nat. Right to Life
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Friday, September 18, 2009

NEWS MEDIA BEING DUPED BY OBAMA ON ABORTION:

(1) Mr. President: During your campaign for President, you promised the Planned Parenthood Action Fund that funding for “reproductive care,” including abortion, would be at the heart of your health-care plan, and that the “public plan” would cover such services. The pending House bill, with the Capps-Waxman Amendment would explicitly authorize your Secretary of Health and Human Resources to cover all abortions in the government insurance plan, the public option.
`
If Congress enacts that that language, would your Secretary fulfill your promise to Planned Parenthood by covering abortions in the public plan, OR would you order her NOT to cover elective abortions under the government plan?

(2) Mr. President: Speaker Pelosi, among others, has insisted that if the public option does pay for abortions, the abortions will be paid for with “private funds.” National Right to Life says that this is misleading and absurd – that as a matter of law, the funds that would be spent by DHHS under the public option would be federal agency, writing checks drawn on a federal Treasury account, would be expending “private funds,” and if so, is that a concept that you think could be applied to other federal agencies – for example, the CIA, the Pentagon, or the Department of the interior?

(3) Mr. President, in recent weeks, you and your staff have made several references to the Hyde Amendment, a provisions of the annual appropriations bill that funds the Department of Health and Human Services.

For example, you said that the pending healthcare bill would not “revoke” the Hyde Amendment. NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE SAYS THIS IS A “HEAD FAKE” – THAT IS, IRRELEVANT WITH RESPECT TO THE PENDING HEALTHCARE BILL, BECAUSE NONE OF THE MONEY EXPENDED BY THE PENDING OPTION OR BY THE PREMUM-SUBSIDY PROGRAM WOULD BE COVERED BY THE HYDE AMENDMENT.

However, the Hyde Amendment does cover the federal Medicaid program, and the Hyde Amendment expires every September 30. National Right to Life points out that you have always opposed the Hyde Amendment. Are you willing to change that position now, and to pledge now you will actively support renewal of the Hyde Amendment next year, and each year for the remainder of your term, so that federal Medicaid funds would not be used to fund elective abortions?

And if you are not willing to make that promise, are you willing to at least promise that you will not, next year or in any subsequent year, issue a veto threat on an HHS appropriations bill because the bill would renew the Hyde Amendment? And if you are not willing to make either of those promises, why should anyone believe that the Medicaid program will not be paying for elective abortions by the end of your term (in addition to the abortions that would be paid for under the new programs that would be created by H.R. 3200)?

Camille Paglia on Barack Obama

Camille Paglia on Barack Obama
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone – Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Ref: http://www.salon.com/opinion/paglia/2009.09/09/healthcare/pring.html

As an Obama supporter and contributor, I am outraged at the slowness with which the standing army of Democratic consultants and commentators publicly expressed discontent with the administrations missteps. I suspect that here had been private grumblings all along, but the media warhorses failed to speak out when they should have – from week one after the inauguration, when Obama went flat as a rug letting Congress pass that obscenely bloated stimulus package.

Had more Democrats protested, the administration would have felt less arrogantly emboldened to jam through a cap and trade bill whose costs have made it virtually impossible for and alarmed public to accept the gargantuan expenses of national healthcare reform. (Who is naïve enough to believe that Obama’s plan would be deficit-neutral? Or that major cuts could be achieved without drastic rationing?)

By foolishly trying to reduce all objections to healthcare reform to the malevolence of obstructionist Republican, Democrats have managed to destroy the national coalition that elected Obama and that is unlikely to be repaired. If Obama fails to win reelection, let the blame be first laid at the door of the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who at a pivotal point threw gasoline on the flames by comparing angry American citizens to Nazis.

It is theoretical possible that Obama could turn the situation around with a strong speech on healthcare to Congress this week, but after a summer of grisly hemorrhaging, too much damage has been done. At this point, Democrats’ main hope for the 2012 presidential election is that Republicans nominate another feeble candidate. Given the GOP’s facility for shooting itself in the foot, that may well happen…

Why has the Democrat Party become so arrogantly detached from ordinary Americans? Though they claim to speak for the poor and dispossessed, Democrats have increasingly become the party of an upper-middle-class professional elite, top-heavy with journalists, academics and lawyers (one reason for the hypocritical absence of tort reform in the healthcare bills).

Weirdly, given their worship of highly individualistic, secularized self-actualization, such professionals are as a whole amazingly credulous these days about big-government solutions to every social problems. They see no danger in expanding government authority and intrusive, wasteful bureaucracy. This is, I submit, a stunning turn away from the anti-authority and anti-establishment principles of authentic 1960s leftism.

How has “liberty” become the inspirational code word of conservatives rather than liberals? (A prominent example is radio host Mark Levin’s book “Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto,” which was No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list for nearly 3 months without receiving major reviews, including in the Times.)

I always thought that the Democratic Party is the freedom party – but I must be living in the nostalgic past…But affluent middle-class Democrats now seem to be complacently servile toward authority and automatically believe everything party leaders tell them. Why? Is it because the new professional class is a glossy product of generically institutionalized learning? Independent thought and logical analysis of argument are no longer taught. Elite education in the U.S. has become a frenetic assembly line of competitive college application to schools where ideological brainwashing is pandemic that it is invisible. The top schools, from the Ivy League on down, promote “critical thinking,” which sounds good but is in fact just a style of regurgitation of hackneyed approved terms (“racism, sexism, homophobia”) when confronted with any social issue. The Democratic brain has been marinating so long in those clichés that it’s positively pickled…

3 Meditations from Pope Benedict XVI

3 Meditations from Pope Benedict XVI
In pursuit of the truth – Feast of the Triumph of the Cross – Mon., Sept. 14, 2009

There is no doubt that the Pope's book, Co-Workers of the Truth is a classic. These are Meditations for Every Day of the Year. The following are excerpts from 3 days in August and September.

1,) God wills that everyone be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Salvation is not to be separated from the truth… And what value can there be in a salvation that is based neither on truth nor on true moral freedom? The Bible sets a higher value on mankind. It tells us that God created us for the truth. The joyfulness of its message is precisely this: that we encounter in Jesus Christ the one genuine truth about God and ourselves. – August 29th

2,) But the real heart of Christianity is, and will always be, love of neighbor… If we are able by our love to give meaning to another person, to just one other person, our life will have been infinitely worth while… Only by helping to liberate others are we ourselves liberated; only by sheltering others do we ourselves receive shelter; only by caring for others will be ourselves find someone to care for us… Perhaps we are so antagonistic today, so notably helpless in our efforts to be Christian, because it is so often ourselves that we are attempting to help. – September 10th

3,) In the Christian catalogue of virtues, despair – that is, the radical opposite of faith and hope – is listed as a sin against the Holy Spirit, because it fails to take into account his power to heal and to forgive and thus rejects redemption. Correspondingly, in the new religion, “pessimism” is the sin of all sins, for doubt with regard to optimism, progress, and utopia is a frontal attack on the spirit of the current age: …

All of this was brought to my mind again by the debate occasioned by the publication in 1985 of my “Report on the State of the Church” {published in English as The Ratzinger Report. An Exclusive Interview on the State of the Church (San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1985)}.

The indignation aroused by this simple book climaxed in the condemnation: a pessimistic book. In many places, attempts were even made to prevent the sale of it because a heresy of such magnitude was just not to be tolerated…

It was once again evident that there is no greater sin against the spirit of the age than to put oneself in the position where one can be accused of the lack of optimism. The question was certainly not: “Is what has been said true or not true? Are the diagnoses right or wrong? I have been able to find no evidence that anyone took the trouble to investigate such outmoded questions. The criterion was very simple: “Is it or is it not optimistic?” And given this criterion, the book was of course, condemned. – September 13th

It is likely that this strategy will continue, a former Gamaliel Foundation community organizer Victoria Kovara was taped to replace Alexia Kelley as executive director of Catholics in Alliance.

Another Soros-funded progressive organization, Gamaliel has been especially successful in creating local community organizations willing to use confrontational tactics to gain power in progressive causes.

During the Kerry-Bush presidential election season, Gamaliel assembled a large number of progressive religious leaders to launch a voter drive against the incumbent Bush administration. Currently Gamaliel has enlisted religious leaders to lobby for health care reform as a theological imperative.

In an interview earlier this year, Chris Korzen claimed that at Catholics United “we follow Church teaching to the letter.” Yet in that same interview, Korzen stated, “I believe that one can pursue beyond criminalization of abortion that make that teaching present in the world.”

Bishop cannot possibly dispel such confusion spread by these “Catholic” advocacy organizations without unity amongst themselves. There needs to be at long last a “Bishops United” to match Catholics United.

Special Report – Catholic World Report- Aug. – Sept. 09 - THE BIG CON

With the publication of the Notre Dame ad, one cannot help but be reminded of the 1984 full-page New York Times ad placed by Frances Kissling’s abortion advocacy organization, Catholics for a Free Choice. Entitled “A Diversity of Opinions Regarding Abortions Exists Among Committed Catholics,” Kissling’s 1984 ad, like the Catholics in Alliance 2009 ad, included signatures from Catholic theologians, priests, nuns, academics, & other high dissenters within the Church.

However, times have changed, as Catholics for a Free Choice has been eclipsed by the younger, hipper, and more savvy organizations like Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United, which now use SOROS money to profess a pro-life orientation while promoting pro-abortion politicians and policies.

No longer a major player in Democratic politics, Frances Kissling has retired from the now re-named Catholic for Choice, as the organization has become ever more irrelevant. While still heavily financed by pro-abortion organizations poised to benefit by increasing abortion in the Catholic countries of Latin America and Europe, the abortion advocacy organization’s influence has declined.

The group occasionally issues meaningless press releases designed to remind Catholics that it is still around, but it is only a matter of time before the organization and its overt pro-abortion philosophy quietly fades away.

When Alexia Kelley was appointed to the Obama administration, the director of Catholics for Choice questioned Kelley’s “pro-life” orientation – but no one in the media paid much attention except a few bloggers and Catholics United.

On his website, Chris Korzen claimed that the Catholics for Choice attack on Kelley and the organizations Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United is “intended as a cover for Catholics for Choice’s increasing irrelevance, and its inability to offer any real solutions to the challenges of our day … the organization accomplishes little more than creating a hostile and divisive political climate.”

Korzen is correct. Unlike Catholics for Choice, the Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance have wisely refrained from open support for abortion. BY DECLINING TO ENGAGE AUTHENTICALLY IN THE CONTENTIOUS CULTURE WARS SURROUNDING ABORTION, CATHOLICS IN ALLIANCE APPEARS TO BE TAKING THE MORAL HIGH GROUND IN THEIR MESSAGING, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME PROMOTING PRO-ABORTION POLICIES AND CANDIDATES LIKE KATHLEEN SEBELIUS FOR CABINET POSITIONS.

The Obama Talk on Health Care

The Obama Talk on Health Care
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, September 10, 2009

Preface:

I have a close friend whose insurance premiums have increased about 5 times to what it was for the family 10 years. He has some insightful comments on both political parties. “As I pointed out to you before, what we have now is not socialism but an Oligarchy, and it started under Reagan, not
Obama.

“What has gone on as far as the government bank bailouts is not socialism but rather a massive transfer of wealth from the taxpayer to the debt holders of the offending companies – to benefit the top few wealthiest people in the nation who donate heavily to both parties – borderline corporate fascism.

“Anyway, where were all these people when Bush/Paulson/Bernanke pushed through the first bailout bill? Where were you? I agree Obama has continued the terrible Bush economic policies and in some ways worsened them.

“However, what you need to realize is that the wrongheaded remedy that BOTH parties voted for – Keynesian stimulus and fat cat bailouts – was chosen because the alternative was an believably and deep and severe depression.

“I disagree with Both Parties’ approach – I believe that the debt must be liquidated. However the debt holders (rich people, pension funds, Goldman Sachs etc.) would lose money that way. Also, liquidating the debt would lead to a TERRIBLE depression – e.g. you wouldn’t get any government checks direct deposited, pension funds would be gone, 25% + unemployment etc. BUT we would be over quicker.

“Instead we are going down the rode Japan took 20 years ago (and still isn’t out of it.) Instead of a short, severed depression we will have a long, drawn-out but milder depression. BOTH political parties (and probably most Americans) chose this option…”

Personal Comments:

My simple perspective: I hate anything that smells of fascist elites, socialist elites and communist elites. I am thinking of the Czars that surround President Obama. It’s all about trust and verify. We do not have a transparent and lobby-free administration. We were promised this. ACLU, NARAL and Planned Parenthood members are Culture of Death Advocates. I do not trust this administration.

It’s a NO to Big Government. It is inefficient with billions of dollars in waste and fraud. The public option is really government control. The Post Office is 7 Billion in the hole. It is Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurs that can start our economic recovery and solve most problems. They can do a better job. It is also a BIG NO to deficit spending and abortion-mandated Health-Care Program.

I understand that there are about 70 progressive in the Democratic controlled Congress. The progressives are Socialist and that is a complement to them. I believe they control the Democratic Party and will destroy it. So-called American and European Socialism is un-American and alien to traditional America and our Founding Fathers.

We need Tort Reform. Some doctors are paying up to $200,000 for Insurance. I understand that there are about 1200 Health Insurance Companies. There should be no state or federal restrictions to purchase insurance from them.
The mindset of the Obama hierarchy is not oriented to free enterprise solutions.

I would like to see private insurance companies register the uninsured and even illegal aliens. Today, they go to the emergency rooms. That is where I would spend public monies to subsidize a public option. Keep Obama Hands Out!

THE BIG CON - 4 of 6

THE BIG CON - 4 of 6
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, September 10, 2009
Special Report by Anne Hendershott – continued

Undeterred by the lack of evidence for a relationship between increased welfare payments and abortion reduction, representatives for “Catholics in Alliance” continue to claim that the best way to reduce abortions is to address the root causes, rather than ban the procedure. This strategy has been effective for them. {One example where The Big Con worked is as follows: ghk}

In addition to the 2008 presidential victory for the Democrats, Tom Perriollo, one of the Democratic founders of Catholics in Alliance, narrowly won a congressional seat in Virginia in 2008 by convincing voters that they needed to address poverty in order to reduce abortions.

Enlisting an elaborate community organizing effort that invited religious voters to consider a different kind of “pro-life” candidate, Perriello defeated a pro-life Republican by creating confusion for Virginia’s voters, who may have assumed that he was pro-life because he spoke often of the need to reduce abortions.

Yet, in published interviews, Perriello promotes the Democratic abortion-rights platform, maintaining that there should be no restrictions on a woman’s right to choose abortion. James Salt of Catholics United is listed as having donated $2,000 to Perriello for Congress in 2007 and another $3,900 in 2008.

THE “ROOT CAUSE” STRATEGY

The “root cause” strategy used by Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United has been criticized by Archbishop Charles Chaput of Denver, who recently described the organization as having “done a disservice to the Church.”

The Archbishop claims that these groups have “confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn.”

The alliance between the progressive Catholic organizations and the Obama administration has been successful in driving a wedge into the Catholic community by promoting pro-abortion policies and actively seeking out representatives of progressive Catholic organizations like Catholics in Alliance to fill important posts.

Recently nominated to be the US ambassador to the Vatican, MIGUEL DIAZ is another example of the Obama administration’s alliance with liberal Catholics. A member of the Catholics in Alliance, DIAZ FUNCTIONS AS A “THEOLOGICAL CONSULTANT”FOR THE ORGANIZATION. While Diaz has no published statements on abortion or embryonic stem-cell research, his affiliations, board memberships, AND WILLINGNESS PUBLICLY to endorse pro-abortion Democrats like Kathleen Sebelius suggests that he is part of the Church’s contingent that wishes to “move beyond” the divisive abortion issue and elect pro-abortion Democrats.

After the controversy emerged within the Catholic community over Notre Dame’s invitation to President Obama to give this year’s commencement address and receive an honorary degree, Catholics in Alliance published a full-page ad in the “South Bend Tribune” entitled “Catholic Leaders and Theologians Welcome President Obama to Notre Dame.”

THE BIG CON - 3

THE BIG CON – 3
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009

Special Report by Anne Hendershott continued

(Error in The Big Con -2: Catholics for the Common Good should be “Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.” Catholics for the Common Good is a very worthy and legitimate Catholic Organization which shared leadership in the battle for Proposition 8; whereas “Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good “ is the phony “Catholic” organization.) We continue verbatim from the article.

In contrast, Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good emerged in 2005 as a kind of sister organization to Catholics United. A 501c(3) organization, donors can claim a deduction against personal income tax when they donate money to Catholics in Alliance. But, unlike Catholic United, Catholics in Alliance is restricted to how much political and legislative lobbying activities they may conduct.

(The next two paragraphs deal with a review of 2007 IRS 990 forms for Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good and for Catholics United and payment of $84,821. to Chris Korzen. In 2007 Catholics in Alliance reported a total of $1,129,338 income from gifts, grants and contribution…)
SOROS, AN EARLY DONOR:

Despite their inability to engage in extensive lobbying, Catholic in Alliance has been extremely successful in attracting large donors. In fact, Catholics in Alliance has enjoyed the financial support of some of the biggest in progressive causes. Never a friend of the Catholic Church , George Soros, one of the earliest donors, contributed $50,000 to Catholics in Alliance in 2005 and another $100,000 in 2006, through his Open Society, Likewise Smith Bagley, a major Democratic donor and fundraiser, whose wife Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, is Chairman of the board of Catholics in Alliance, came close to matching Soros with grants from his family’s Arca Foundation.

With a long history of supporting progressive organizations like ACORN, the Gamaliel Foundation, People for the American Way, and Planned Parenthood, Arca contributed $50,000. to Catholics in Alliance in 2007 & another $75,000 in 08.

It is clear that for the Democrats, this has been money well spent… Catholics in Alliance has enjoyed tremendous success in neutralizing abortion a campaign issue… Catholics in Alliance has enjoyed tremendous success in neutralizing abortion as campaign issue. The did this by persuading voters that progressive policies would reduce abortions.

Supporting a study by Professors Michael Bailey of Georgetown University and Joseph Wright of Notre Dame that claimed that increasing economic assistance to low income families results in substantial reductions to abortion rates, Catholics in Alliance spent months declaring that the data demonstrate that progressive policies on income distribution – rather than abortion restrictions – reduce abortion.

Unfortunately for voters, while Catholics in Alliance touted the abortion reduction report as a reason that Catholic voters could vote in good conscience for a pro-choice candidate, the study was quietly removed from the Catholics in Alliance website in November 2008 when its faulty methology and erroneous conclusions were pointed out by several social scientist.

Professor Bailey, the first author of the initial study, removed his name from the revised report. Joseph Wright remains as the sole author - and is listed as Chairman of the board of Catholics United on the Form 990 EZ submitted by the organization in 2007…

The Legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy - 4

The Legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy – 4
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Let’s start with the rape of marriage in Massachusetts about two years. I can’t forget it. The Knights of Columbus and other organizations had with the big help of evangelical Christians a ballot measure which was similar to our proposition 8 in California. (Marriage is between a man and a woman.)

It was scheduled to be on the ballot in Massachusetts for the 2008 election. Well CINOP Nancy Pelosi came to this Democrat Party controlled State and through diabolical hardball politics succeeded and stopped it from being on the ballot. Why? It was because it would hurt the Democratic candidate for President in 2008. PELOSI SUCCEEDED IN ENFORCING SAN FRANCISCO VALUES.

All of this was accomplished through bribes a.k.a., campaign contributions by the opponents to this ballot measure. The legislators were bought off AND VOTED NOT TO PUT IT ON THE BALLOT. (There is a lot more serious stuff but you will have to check it out yourself.) WHAT’S THE BOTTOM LINE? SENATOR TED KENNEDY WAS SILENT. I remember calling the office of Loretta Sanchez and asking that she come out publicly in support of Proposition 8 the Marriage Amendment in California BEFORE THE ELECTION, and she was also silent.

I know that Cardinal O’Malley tried to do his best to have this marriage initiative on the ballot but he failed. WELL, HIS TOP PRIORITY TODAY IS TO WORK WITH CATHOLICS AND ESPECIALLY OTHER CHRISTIANS IN MASSACHUSETTS TO GET THAT MEASURE ON THE BALLOT; EVEN IF IT TAKES 10 YEARS. THE SAME- MARRIAGE LAWS IN MASSACHUSETTS ARE UNACCEPTABLE NATIONALLY AND ANATHEMA TO CHURCH AND COUNTRY.

Let’s continue with Bet-Noire and some of his atrocious and stupid votes when Ted Kennedy was in the Senate. In the Congress, Kennedy voted against the Catholic position in the following votes:

1.)Harkin Amendment to endorse Roe v. Wade (108th) No voted Yes
2.)Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003 (108th) Yes voted No
3.)Abortion in military medical facilities (108th) No voted Yes
4.)Feinstein Substitute Amendment (single-victim substitute) (108th) N vote Y
5.)Unborn Victims of Violence Act: passage (108th) Yes voted No
6.)Child Custody Protection Act (S.403): passage (109th) Yes voted No
7.)Funding of embryo-killing stem cell research (H. R. 810) (109th) No vote Y
8.)Federal Marriage Amendment Act (109th) Yes voted No

The above info: Scorecard of Catholics in Congress, CATHOLIC ADVOCATE – A Project of Morley Institute for Church and Culture.

Lastly, Senator Kennedy and his cabal in California have a mindset that supported the following: “California State Senate Passes Transsexual-Bisexual-Homosexual Curriculum Bill SB 777… Sacramento, May 24 /Newswire/ …

Radical legislation mandating that schoolchildren as young as kindergarten learn about and support transsexuality, bisexuality and homosexual has passed the California State Senate…

…SB 777 requires textbooks, instructional materials, and school-sponsored activities to positively portray cross-dressing, sex-change operations, homosexual “marriages,” and all aspects of homosexuality and bisexuality, including so-called “gay history.”… SB 777 also deletes the true definition of “sex” from the Education Code…

THE BIG CON - 2

THE BIG CON – 2
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Tuesday, September 8, 2009

Continued from Catholic World Report – Aug,-Sept. 09 p. 27-29

Far from being non-partisan during the 2008 presidential campaign, most of his (Korzen) published pieces were critical of Republican candidate John McCain. With incendiary titles like “John McCain: Just How Pro-Life?” and “McCain Embraces Pastor Who Called Catholicism a Cult,” Korzen made no secret of his political leanings.

Like Salt, Korzen has been a strong supporter of Kathleen Sebelius and organized support for her nomination as Secretary of Health and Human Services by garnering signatures in an online petition entitled “Catholics for Sebelius.”

Experts in “messaging,” Catholics United and Catholics for the Common
Good have achieved tremendous success in convincing Catholic voters to focus on “social justice” issues like poverty as the way to reduce abortion rates without restricting abortion rights. Refusing to hold politicians like President Obama and Kathleen Sebelius accountable for their votes in favor of partial birth abortions and taxpayer funded abortion here and abroad, and against parental notification requirements, these progressive organizations maintain a consistent message of the “common good,” which they identify with electing Democrats.

Rather than focusing on the “divisive” issues surrounding abortion (like abortion restrictions), Catholics, they say, should elect candidates who would address the “root causes” of abortion. These groups worked to popularize the notion among Catholics that if poverty were alleviated through increased welfare spending and income distribution rates would naturally decline without restricting access to abortion.

The Catholic United website reveals that the organization began its advocacy work in the spring of 2004, when “a group of Catholic activists and friends formed the Catholic Voting Project to promote US Catholic bishops’ 2003 document Faithful Citizenship: A Catholic Call to Political Responsibility.” Claiming that the mission of the Catholic Voting Project was to encourage a public dialogue about faith and politics that went beyond the tired rhetoric of partisan interests by allowing Catholics to learn how their political views matched those of the US Catholic bishops and the two major presidential candidates,” the Voting Project was criticized by orthodox Catholics like Karl Keating as a “front” for Senator Kerry.

After Kerry’s 2004 defeat and loss of the Catholic vote, the members of the Catholic Voting Project decided to improve its message by disbanding and re-incorporating as Catholics United.

On its website, Catholic United describes itself as a 501c(4) non-profit organizations – eligible to accept donations. But because it is a 501c(4) entity and thus able to engage in lobbying efforts, donations cannot be claimed against income tax. From a fundraising point of view it is difficult to raise money for a 50lc(4) group because individual donors cannot deduct the contributions from their taxable income. But Catholics United is free to spend as much money as they have available to lobby on legislation – doing the “edgy” work that Chris Korzen describes…

The Legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy - 3

The Legacy of Senator Edward Kennedy – 3

Ref. ‘The Big Con’ and ‘The Straw that Broke the Camel’s back’

IN THE NAME OF BISHOP FULTON SHEEN AND ALEXANDER HAMILTON:

It will take a little time to digest all the commentaries on the funeral of Senator Ted Kennedy. What was the Catholic influence in America by Catholic-in-name-only (CINO) politicians during these past 40 years? Over all it was nothing but a lot of scandal, dissent and political stupidity. Their influence was not Catholic but promoters of the Culture of Death. Pope John Paul II coined that term. You are aware that we have several Pope J.P. type of bishops in America.

I apologize to the many Christian Protestant pro-life congregations for what they saw at the funeral of Senator Ted Kennedy. You have lefties and dissenters in your congregation. The Catholic Church in America has them also. Most of them are duped. In some parts of the country they have a stranglehold. Thank you for your enormous patience in not criticizing publicly the Catholic Church leaders.

Let us work together and look upon the funeral of this man Senator Ted Kennedy as the nail in the coffin of the CINO politicians in America. We must work together to educate; and Catholics to do missionary work, and pray that not one of them will vote for these scoundrels in any part of America. In Orange County, let’s focus like a laser beam on the defeat of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.

I would like to share with you a few stupid historical positions of the late Senator. Do you remember President Clinton signed the Welfare Reform Bill?
It turned out to be a tremendous success. Senator Kennedy was opposed to the bill and fought it. This bill helped the poor and taught them how to fish and to be on their own. Even at that time President Obama fought the bill and then saw his error. (In fact the U.S. Catholic Church made a mistake in opposing this bill.) Kennedy was a partisan not for the common good of the poor and unemployed; he was already a lefty progressive Democrat and opposed the bill because it was forced upon President Clinton by the Republicans. (Those are the evil politicians.)

Remember the Nicaraguan Civil War! Whose side were the CINO politicians supporting? They were on the side of the Sandinistas, the communist liberation theology party. Remember President Reagan had a heck of a time insuring the victory of the Contras. When finally, there was a vote in Nicaragua the Sandinistas lost. Pope John Paul II tried to explain that liberation theology is a non-Catholic measure for change in the Americas. But we have those very smart theologians who disagreed with the Pope. A good example of Black Liberation Theology is the Church of Jeremiah Wright. Sadly, our President was brainwashed for 20 years.

Lastly, the Senator promoted multiculturalism. From Human Events: “Multiculturalism” Means Left-Wing Indoctrination: … The push for multiculturalism has precious little to do with learning about other people’s cultures. What is involved, instead, is a determined effort to inculcate a particular outlook on America’s domestic politics… The recurring theme is that the United States is repressive, racist, sexist, homophobic, and otherwise malignant place. This message be it noted, has nothing to do with ‘other cultures.’

George H. Kubeck, Take back America! Vote out the CINO Politicians!

Special Report by Anne Hendershott
She is chair of Politics, Philosophy and Economic Program at “The Kings College” in New York City, and author of Status Envy – The Politics of Catholic Higher Education (Transaction.) The Catholic World Report Aug. – Sep. 2009.

Misleading “Catholic” organizations such as Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good operated as an arm for pro-abortion Democrats in 2008 and now enjoy an important role in the Obama administration.

Self-described “progressive” Catholic organizations, such as Catholic in Alliance for the Common Good, Catholics United, Catholic Democrats, and Voice of the Faithful, have successfully manipulated long-standing divisions among Catholics. In 2008, President Obama with the help of misleading propaganda from these groups won a majority of the Catholic vote.
Now these organizations are playing an important role in his administration. Witness the appointment of Alexia Kelley, the co-founder and director of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good.

Kelley has been appointed to direct the federal Health and Human Services Department’s Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. For almost a decade, Kelley worked for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops on the Campaign for Human Development, a grant-making program that has been criticized for actively working against the Church’s mission, as evident in the program support for pro-abortion activities and politicians.

During the years that Kelley worked for the Campaign for Human Development, more than seven million dollars were awarded to ACORN (Association of Community Organization for Reform Now). Now under criminal investigation in several states, ACORN’s voter registration work helped to elect President Obama.

Kelley teamed with Catholic United’s leaders James Salt and Chris Korzen, in the 2008 campaign to neutralize the abortion issue by casting it in pro-Democratic Party terms. Salt and Korzen have plenty of political experience … Salt’s political work has involved overseeing the Kansas Democratic Party’s dubious “faith outreach” efforts, including what he calls “messaging work” for the pro-abortion Kathleen Sebelius & the development of “faith-based messaging resources.” “EDGY WORK” – On its website, Catholics United describes itself as ”non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting the message of justice and the common good found at the heart of the Catholic Social Tradition.”

But in a September 12, 2008 radio interview heard at soundsauthors.com, Korzen disclosed that at Catholics United “we do a little bit more edgy work … we can do lobbying and political work unlike your traditional non-profits.”

Prior to helping to found Catholics United, Korzen served as co-founder and director of the Catholic Voting Project in 2004, after working as an organizer with the Service Employees International Union. He is a frequent contributor to the left-wing website The Huffington Post, where he often publishes pieces in support of the Democratic Party…

Report on Obama Health Care Rally - Sept. 1, 2009

Report on Obama Health Care Rally- Sept. 1, 2009

Memorial: Gregory the Great, Pope and Doctor - Thursday, September 3, 2009

From the USCCB document – “Catholics in Political Life”

‘The Catholic community and Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.’

I believe that all pro-life, pro-family and pro-marriage persons should participate at Town Hall Meetings; Tea Parties and Rallies about Health Care etc. to proclaim the truth and in the spirit of Our Founding Fathers. Also, “Preaching the gospel simply entails communicating the truth and love of Jesus to others.”
“Report”

Location: Corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, Huntington Beach, Tues. September 1, 2009 – 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. I was there from 5 to 6:30 P.M.

Come to the next meeting: Saturday, Sept. 5, 3:00 – 5:00 P.M – Same Location -
Parking on PCH is 25 cents for 10 minutes or side streets may be free.

There were about 40 plus participants who mistakenly support the Obama Care which includes mandated abortion coverage. They deny that there is abortion coverage. I talked to two persons who said that they are members of no church. Another person was very much for coverage of abortion. It was a friendly conversation. Although one said, “Are you a Nazi?” The best answer would be, “Are you an American or a Communist?” Some types have a deep contempt for the opposition who have a religious persuasion. They need conversion.

Some of the signs were provided by the organizers of the event. Here are two of the signs: “Support Health Care for All,” and “Public Health Option Helps Small Business.” What this administration will likely do is undercut Insurance Companies via government regulations; and then No Surprise! We have only a Government Socialist Health Program like in Canada and Europe. No to Socialism.

I have a bias. I do not trust the President. He wants total control of our lives and starts off with Health Care and his supporters use the code word: public option - Support a Public Option. What it really is: Support a Government Option! We have government option with the Post Office which is 7 Billion dollars deficit and Amtrak which is 2 billion dollars deficit. We have billions of dollars of fraud in Medicare and other Government programs. Clean Up and that!

Why Not Tort Reform? Some doctors have to pay $200,000 yearly in insurance. There is a Free Enterprise Solution and Not a Government Solution which is bankrupting our country with deficits and taking away our Freedoms.

I may have been the only one in opposition. BUT IT WAS A FUN EXPERIENCE. During the light break, pedestrian crossing the street, Obama lady would cross the street with her sign “Support Public Option for Health Care” and I would cross over with my sign for the parked cars waiting for the light to change.

My sign: NO! NO! NO! Deficit Spending! Big Government! Abortion- Mandated Health! Make your signs to the point and a little smaller. Watch out for misspelled words. At the Congressman’s Royce Town Hall meeting which was outstanding I misspelled “Voices of Our Founding Fathers,” with Voiceses.

Hope to see you for an hour or two. Come earlier. (It would be wonderful if we had Bishop Fulton Sheen & Founding Father Alexander Hamilton alive today!)

The Straw that Broke the Camel's Back

The Straw that Broke the Camel’s Back
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Dissent politicized. Dissent dispatched. God will judge this camel in heaven. On earth we vote him out of office. It is the simplest solution. The camel is the Catholic-in-name-only politician. Kennedy’s funeral broke the camel’s back.

What’s the problem? Well on earth we have a kind of syndicate (Mafia) within the Catholic Church. They are the friends of CINO politicians. “The Catholic World Report” has accurate information on them, The Big Con.

In parts of the U.S.A. the Kennedy name is like a “Sacred Cow.” Handle with care. Just think of his sister Eunice who deserved the kind of Funeral Mass that the deceased Ted Kennedy received. There was something not Catholic for the deceased Ted Kennedy. You don’t do that with the Eucharist!

Pope Benedict XVI came out with “Charity in Truth.” (Caritas in Veritate). In the past the pope warned us of moral relativism. What the Catholic clergy did on Saturday, Aug. 29th was offer a Mass for the dead that was Catholic, religiously- correct with moral relativism. Ted was a giant on the prudential issues. But his support for the absolute evils of abortion, same-sex marriage and embryonic stem-cell research were completely ignored. Ted Kennedy did not fight for the rights of the unborn, the right to life and the right to natural death.

All bishops need to review that Mass and realize that you can’t fool practicing Catholics and other Christians. You couldn’t even fool non-Catholics like former President George Bush. He seemed to be squirming with all of this Ted adoration in the eulogy. What’s going on here? His brother is Catholic. Even with his decision on the war in Iraq, Bush was the most Catholic president we have ever had. Some democratic staff members at the USCCB think otherwise.

Senator Tom Coburn (R-Ok) proposed an amendment to the budget bill that would keep the conscience clause in place and give health care workers including doctors’ protection from having to perform professional duties that violate their religious freedom, like abortions.

Unbelievable, 16 Catholic Senators rejected this amendment. All of them were Democrats except one. Now my dear bishops what kind of a funeral Mass will they have if one of them should die tomorrow? In fact get over this sick attachment to the Democratic Party. I’m convinced that if the 16 Senators were Republicans, many bishops would have had a very loud outcry. California bishops, you don’t have to wait for unanimity on this very, very serious matter!

At the Arlington Cemetery when the ceremony at the grave was still in progress, there was darkness and one couldn’t see what was going on. But there was lightning in the distance. The Holy Spirit is sending messages.

The CINOP is anathema to the Church and to the country. Common sense persuades you to register as an independent voter! Vote each CINOP out in 2010! What would Bishop Pope John Paul II do? Take heed of St. John Chrysostom’s warning that the walls of hell are lined with the skulls of bishops.
