Happy New Year!*

Happy New Year!*
O Lord, my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot in your hands (Ps 16:5)

The background of this Psalm verse is the ancient image of the cup containing the lots of each man, and God holding these lots. Yet in this image two different conceptions about the meaning and challenge of time collide, conceptions that even nowadays still determine our struggle for the future.

The pagan world was also familiar with the image of the lots, but with entirely different premises: the world is a game of luck governed by one rule – blind chance. Time, altogether blind, spews out the lots, of this kind and that.

The Bible has fundamentally transformed this frightening image. Indeed, there is the cup with lots, containing winners and losers. But this cup is held “in your hands”, in the hands of eternal Wisdom and eternal Love. This is the indispensible premise that alone can provide for man any hope at all. Because the cup is in his hands, the only losing lot would be the refusal to accept at all the lot from his hands.

The Latin translation of the Bible has conferred on this inexhaustible Psalm verse still greater depth: In your hands, there rests my time. In purely linguistic terms we could also translate: In your hands there rests my temple.

Thus an image arises of ourselves entrusting our head, our temples, to God’s good hands. It also becomes evident that man’s time is not the time reckoned by the revolutions of the sun, the earth, or the moon. Far from it! With man a new center of the world has appeared, a new unit of calculation: a heartbeat, constituting the measure of his existence, even the new measure of all being as such, and the new center of the world.

To draw our existence out of this time, to acknowledge this time as our true time, and out of this awareness to model this world – such is the call of this Psalm verse. The time of the heart is transformed into sunlit time by the fact that our heart does not beat in a vacuum: our heart, conferring rhythm also on our brain and our mind, finds true timing of its beat by putting itself into the hands of him who holds all our time in his hands – into the hands of eternal Wisdom, which is eternal Love and so our only Hope.

And so then, we put this New Year, the new time and our future, into the hands of God: Lord, do accept us, and grant us your blessing!

# 5 of 5 - A Critical Analysis of Just/Faith

#5 of 5 – A Critical Analysis of Just/Faith
The relentless pursuit of the truth – website - cinops be gone – Friday, December 30, 2011

We continue and finish the classic article by William A. Borst in the Mindszenty Report – V. LIII – No. II.

“The Tender Road to Death: cont’d – When married to social justice, notions of equality tilt the playing field in favor of the poor and dissident. Charity quickly becomes the business of politics and not religion. ONE NEED ONLY REFER TO LYNDON JOHNSON’S 1964 WAR ON POVERTY, WHICH VIRTUALLY DESTROYED THE BLACK AMERICAN FAMILY. SINCE 1973 ONE THIRD OF THE NATION’S 50 MILLION ABORTIONS WERE PERFORMED ON BLACK WOMEN.

“Church leaders have cast aside any notions of private property by trumping them with modernist ideas of equality, fairness, and diversity: Social justice has become a government policy that has redistributed resources confiscated from the wealthy who earned them and given to those who did nothing to deserve them in exchange for votes. The Church made no mention of these wholesale violations of the 7th Commandment.

“A Product of the Sixties: A simple knowledge of Church history requires that any Christian articulation of social justice that seeks to hand the poor over to government for dependency and control in antithetical to the concept of justice and the common good. In Quadragesimo Anno, Pius XI related social justice to the necessary set of conditions where each person makes free, non-government-coerced contributions to the common good.

“Social justice according to Pius XI referenced the necessity of private property against the tenets of socialistic thinking because the right of private ownership not only enabled individuals to provide for themselves and their families but also that the goods which the Creator destined for the entire family of mankind…

It mentioned the importance of wealth creation in providing a basis for charity. It warned against arbitrary wage demands, which a business cannot stand without its ruin and consequent calamity to the workers. Pius XI’s definition of social justice included the importance of subsidiary and a return to the moral formation so that people would not confuse freedom to accomplish with passions that have been disordered because of original sin.

“These ideas have apparently been revised. According to Frank Morriss of the Wanderer, the Catholic Church is fast becoming a product of the sixties. He laments the fact that The Catholic Church does not exist to solve your problems. And neither does the government. It is already clear that the U.S. is not going to be able to meet the obligations that it has assumed well into the future.

“There is going to be a great crisis of social democracy in the next 10 years in this country. The proverbial sword of Damocles hangs by an even more frayed thread in Europe. One does not have to be a weatherman to notice that the winds of social change that has been blowing through the Catholic Church’s open windows this past half century have been arguably pushing the Church off its divinely-oriented course.” Contact William A. Catholic Eye's Disturbing New Analysis

Catholic Eye’s Disturbing News Analysis
In pursuit of the truth – website cinops be gone – Thursday, December 29, 2011

Ref. Catholic Eye is published monthly by the National Committee of Catholic Laymen, Inc. This is issue November 30, 2011, Number # 310. “Last month, HHS again sought to curb religious “overreaching” by abruptly cutting off what had been a five-year funding stream for a national program overseen by the Bishops Conference to aid foreign victims of human trafficking.

Two groups that applied for federal money but had lower scores than USCCB (and another with higher scores) got grants because they provide, HHS put it, the “full range of legally permissible gynecological and obstetric are” – read contraception and abortion… According to the DC Post, since 2006 the USCCB program has received “more than $19 million” (Health, abortion issues split Obama administration and Catholic groups,” Oct. 31).

“Is the Obama Administration ‘At War” with Catholics?” Not really, says Amy Sullivan, the reporter who penned a November 18 Time magazine story bannering that question. The “Adminstration’s relationship with Catholics,” she writes, “seems to suffer more from mismanagement than from any malice.” HHS mismanaged?

One of several self-proclaimed Demo-Catholics who give the Obama government religious cover, [CINOP] Kathleen Sebelius delivered the keynote speech at the 17th Annual Chicago Power Choice luncheon last month. Speaking of political who object to such as her new insurance mandates and reproductive “care” edicts, she had this to say, “They don’t just want to go after the last 18 months, they want to roll back the last 50 years in progress women have made in comprehensive health care in America, We’ve come a long way in women’s health over the last few decades, but we are war. Time should have bannered, “Is President Obama at War with Secretary Sebelius?”

“On November 8, Obama had an Oval Office tete-a-tete with Archbishop Dolan. News of the “private” meeting was leaked to Michael Sean Winter, who reported that “a White House official who spoke with NCR on background ... noted that the Obama administration has robust partnerships with organizations such as Catholic Relief Services and Catholic Charities USA,” and “looks forward to continuing these critical partnerships in the future” (“Obama meets quietly with head of U.S. bishops,” Nov. 12).

“Winters didn’t supply figures but the DC Post story we quoted earlier did: “Catholic groups,” it said, “have received at least $800 million in HHS funding to provide social services since the mid-1990s, including $348 million to the bishops’ conference.” On whose terms, eye wonders, will these “critical partnerships” On whose terms, eye wonders, will these “critical partnerships” be maintained? How long before contraceptive and abortion “care” are required of any federally funded group that aids disaster victims? No way should that have been a “quiet” meeting. [Note the monies involved and how it can influence bishops’ decisions.]

“During a news conference at the opening of the bishops’ annual fall gathering in Baltimore this month (Nov. 14-16) Archbishop Dolan, after telling reporters “we see in our “we see in our culture a drive to neuter religion,” and “well-financed, well-oiled sectors” wanting “to push religion back into the sacristy”- again, pretty muscular rhetoric – spoke of his encounter with Obama… “I write with a growing sense of urgency,” Dolan’s Sept. 20 missive to Obama began “about recent actions taken by your Administration that both escalate the threat to marriage and imperial the religious freedom of those who promote and defend marriage.”*…

The Gospel of Life against the Culture of Death*

The Gospel of Life against the Culture of Death*
Relentless pursuit of the truth – website - cinops be gone – Feast of the Holy Innocents – 12-28-2011

From “Fr. Broom’s Blog”* – Becoming the Voice of the Unborn!!!!!! – Thursday, October 20, 2011

“The unborn child in the womb of the pregnant woman has a right to life, just as anyone of us outside the womb because life begins at the moment of conception. It is Almighty God, the origin and author of life, who has the right to give and the right to end life. Human life, indeed, is sacred from the moment of conception until natural death.

“Pope John Paul II presents a modern Ignatian two standards: the Culture of Death (Satan) and the Gospel of Life. (Jesus, Our Lord and King). Let us stand with courage under the standard of Jesus Our King and defend the unborn life. Let us be the “Voice” of the child, who in the womb cannot be heard. The following are ways to defend the child:

1.) PRAYER! We must storm heaven with our daily prayers. The Hail Mary is especially powerful…

2.) STUDY! As followers of Christ, we should be well-informed by serious study of the topic. The excellent website PRIESTSFORLIFE@org.COM is a superb website with extensive information on abortion and the Pro-life movement. Try it out!

3.) PRAYER IN FRONT OF ABORTION MILLS. Find out where the nearest abortion clinic [site, facility] is to your home and silently protest by praying the Rosary in front. Your prayers might make the difference in enlightening a confused woman to turn around and have her baby.

4.) A PRO-LIFE LICENSE PLATE. Buy a pro-life license plate, with some catchy phrase like: IT IS NOT A CHOICE, IT IS A CHILD.

5.) VOTING. Remember the non-negotiables when you cast your vote at the poll. “Non-negotiable” means these are always intrinsically wrong and immoral. These are Homosexuality, Euthanasia, Contraception, Embryonic experimentation, and ABORTION…

6.) CHASTITY TEACHING! Parents please teach your children the importance of the virtue of chastity. “Blessed are the pure of heart, they will see God.” (Mt. 5:8) Unwanted teen pregnancies, all too often culminate in abortion! …

7.) ADOPTION NOT ABORTION. In cases where a pregnant woman is overwhelmed with the pregnancy and honestly believes that is beyond her capacity to raise the child, then encourage her as a valid option the possibility of ADOPTION. Many good couples, who for painful reason could not have a child, are very serious to adopt a child.

8.) ABORTION, MERCY AND RECONCILIATION. A woman who indeed has carried out an abortion should give in to despair! Rather TRUST in God’s infinite mercy. Confession, forgiveness and reconciliation are always possible. The loving arms of the Father of the Prodigal Son are always open to embrace…forgive.

9.) ULTRA SOUND. For pregnant women who are vacillating over not having the baby, encourage them to visit and have an ULTRASOUND and see the baby… Dr. B. Nathanson was converted by seeing the baby.

10.) THE GREATEST MIRACLE! The greatest miracle is HOLY MASS! Assist at HOLY MASS, participate in HOLY MASS. Offer the chalice and the Host for the unborn baby --- in reparation and prevention. In the Mass, the priest in the “person of Christ” offers the precious Body and Blood of Jesus for the innocent body and blood of the little baby! No greater prayer in the universe can compare to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass --- the “World’s Greatest Miracle”!”…

'Seizing the Center" Myth

‘Seizing the Center’ Myth

By Thomas Sowell, Orange County Register, Orange County, Calif., Wed., Nov. 30, 2011

Talk show host Michael Medved, for example, apparently thinks the Republicans need a centrist presidential candidate in 2012. He said, “Most political battles are won by seizing the center.” Moreover, he added: “Anyone who believes otherwise ignores the electoral experience of the last 50 years.”

But when did Ronald Reagan, with this two landslide election victories, “seize the center”? For that matter, when did Franklin D. Roosevelt, with a record four presidential election victories, “seize the center”?

There have been a long string of Republican presidential candidates who seized the center – and lost elections. Thomas E. Dewey, for examples, seized the center against Harry Truman in 1948. Even though Truman was so unpopular at the outset that the “New Republic” magazine urged him not to run, and polls consistently had Dewey ahead. Truman clearly stood for something… That turned out to be enough to beat Dewey, who simply stood in the center…

It is equally doubtful that most people who voted for Ronald Reagan in his two landslide victories agreed with all this positions. But they agreed with enough of them to put him in the White House to replace Jimmy Carter, who stood in the center, even if it was only a center of confusion.

President Gerald Ford, after narrowly beating off Ronald Reagan … seized the center in the general election – and lost to an initially almost totally unknown governor from Georgia…

More recently, we have seen two more Republican candidates who seized the center – Senators Bob Dole in 1996 and John McCain in 2008 – go down to defeat…

Michael Medved, however, reads history differently. To him, Barry Goldwater got clobbered in the 1964 elections because of his strong conservatism. But did his opponent, Lyndon Johnson, seize the center? Johnson was at least as far to the left as Goldwater was to the right…

Senator Goldwater was not crazy enough to start a nuclear war. But the way he talked sometimes made it seem as if he were. Ronald Reagan would later be elected and reelected taking positions essentially the same as those on which Barry Goldwater lost big time. Reagan was simply a lot better at articulating his beliefs.

Michael Medved uses the 2008 defeat of Tea Party candidates for the Senate, in 3 states where Democrats were Democrats were vulnerable, as another argument against those who do not court the center. But these were candidates whose political ineptness was the problem, not conservativism. Candidates should certainly reach out to a broad electorate. But the question is whether they reach out by promoting their own principles to others or by trying to be all things to all people.

George H. Kubeck, www.cinopsbegone.com – Tuesday, December 27, 2011

P.S. The respected writer Thomas Sowell is supporting Newt Gingrich. I may do likewise. I sent monies first to Michelle Bachmann and then to Herman Cain. Ideally, popular conservative & pro-life governor of Louisiana Bobby Jindal would beat Romney in most state primaries. He would set the base on fire.

Merry Christmas*

Merry Christmas*

The Word became flesh. Alongside this Johannine truth there has to be put also the Marian truth as rendered by Luke. God has become flesh. This is not only an immensely great and remote happening; it is something very close and human.

God became a child who needed a mother. He became a child, someone born with tears on his cheeks, whose first utterance is a cry for help, who first gesture consists in outstretched arms searching for protection. God became a child.

Nowadays we also hear it said, in contrast, that this, after all, would be nothing but a sentimentality better put aside. Yet the New Testament thinks differently.

For the Faith of the Bible and the Church, it is important that God desire to be such a creature who has to depend a mother, on the sheltering love of humans. He wished to be dependent in order in order to awaken in us love that purifies and redeems. God became a child, and every child is dependent.

To be a child thus contains already the theme of the search for shelter, the elementary motif of Christmas. And how many variations has this motif seen in our history! In our days we experience this anew and in disturbing ways: the child knocks on the doors of our world. The child is knocking. This search for shelter is profound.

There is indeed an atmosphere of hostility toward children, but is this not preceded by an attitude that altogether bars any child from entering this world because there would be no more room for him?

The child knocks. If we would receive him we are to rethink thoroughly our own attitude toward human life.

Here we are dealing with fundamentals, with our very concept of what it means to be human: to live in grandiose selfishness or in confident freedom that knows its vocation to be united in love, to be free to accept one another.

In Memoriam: The late Illinois Congressman, Henry Hyde, a strong pro-life supporter said: “When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I’ve often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God – and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there’ll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world, but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world – and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, “SPARE HIM, BECAUSE HE LOVED US.”

A Classic and Best Seller "The Broken Path" - 1

A Classic and Best Seller “The Broken Path” – Part 1
The relentless pursuit of the truth – website -cinops be gone – Thursday, December 22, 2011

The purpose in quoting from Chapter 2 [p. 23-24] of Judie Brown’ book, “The Broken Path,” is to persuade the reader that this book is a classic and a perfect Christmas and New Year’s gift. I could not wait till after Christmas. “The Americanism phenomena resulted from what is, in retrospect, the misguided perception of American bishops, led by America’s first Catholic bishop, John Carroll. Even though there was debate among them, history makes it clear that the majority of Catholic bishops wanted to rearrange the Catholic Church in America in a way that would make it more palatable to their Protestant counterparts. Whether they thought they could convert their fellow Americans or not, the approach they took was disastrous.

“Bishop Carroll in particular wanted freedom from the Vatican …, “Bishops may be elected, at this distance from Rome, by a select body of clergy constituting as it were a Cathedral Chapter. Otherwise we shall never be viewed kindly by our government here, and discontent, even amongst our clergy, will break out.”

“In other words, in order for American members of the hierarchy, and thus Catholics as a whole, to be acceptable to the government and the culture, the structure of the Church in America had to be drastically altered. Thank heavens that did not happen, though some would argue that what flowed from it is even worse than creating a separate electoral college for American bishops.

“Historians have hotly debated the extent to which these first American Catholic leaders fostered the attitude that has become quintessential Americanism. Be that as it may, it is to this day what plagues Catholicism in America. Anyone who studies the situation in those early days realizes that the Catholic hierarchy really believed that, to be a Catholic is America, a person must first be an American.

“Brankin opines, “Many of the bishops actually thought that if we played it carefully – and didn’t push our religion too much – we might even convert the country to Catholicism – never mind that we just emptied it of any content. This is where Leo XIII come in because in his encyclical [Testem Benevolentiae] – which is actually very peaceful in tone – he sees this attitude as a dangerous heresy that he calls “Americanism.” He defines it as the misbegotten hope that Catholics could shape Church teachings in accord with the spirit of the age and the nation. He warns that making concessions to the reigning culture and remaining silent on contentious points for the sake of patriotism is dishonest. He was convinced that the American bishops were doing just that – and he forbade them “to suppress for any reason any doctrine that has been handed down.”

“Leo highlights the particularly Americanist habits of …”confounding … license with liberty, the passion for discussing and pouring contempt upon any possible subject, the assumed right to hold whatever opinions one pleases upon any subject and to set forth in print to the world.” Pope Leo warns the bishops that these habits wrap our minds in a sort of darkness and convince us that our free speech is somehow consecrated by the Holy Spirit who is now pouring richer and more abundant graces into our American souls than into anyone else.

“It wouldn’t be long before Americans would begin to believe that with this superabundance of grace, American opinions and decisions – and very lives – would be truer and more authentic than those of the rest of humanity. Leo worries that such a super-inspired citizenry puffed up by its exalted opinion of itself would eschew the need for guidance either of history or the Church – being eminently capable of discussing its way to truth. They would no longer see the need for supernatural virtues and counsels of “poverty, chastity and obedience” because those are passive virtues while what they would claim … the world really needs is the dynamism of active virtues – and those, of course, are so abundant in America.”…

Judie Brown's New Book*

Judie Brown’s New Book*
The relentless pursuit of the truth – website - cinops be gone – Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011

The title of the book is “the Broken Path”- How Catholic Bishops got lost in the Weeds of American Politics, with a foreword by Bishop Rene H. Gracida, Bishop Emeritus of Corpus Christi, Texas. It is a must read for all Catholic and Protestant leaders in pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-family. I have only read the Introduction and Chapter 1 and will report on the book after Christmas.

Please purchase this informative book and make it a best seller, for the sake of authentic Catholic identity and integrity. I will buy copies and sell it to others at cost. ($14.95 plus S.H.) It is a truth seeking book which will inspire other writers to elaborate and will help directly and indirectly remove Catholic-in-name-only politicians (CINOP) from American politics. This is my analysis of Weeds in the book’s title. It is possible that some Catholic bookstore will not carry this book. Ask them to order it. I believe Judie is a registered independent and founder of American Life League. www.all.org

Why Judie wrote this book?

“Over the course of the five years it took me to gather the courage to sit down and actually do this, my husband kept gently nudging me to move forward. I hesitated until one day, during a conversation with him, I realized that I too could be accused of being part of the problem if I failed to come up with a roadmap that guides the way out of the tragic situation confronting Catholics in America today. Mr. Brown, I do thank you. Your love and persistence has paid off. Thanks be to God.”

From the cover of the book, “… a hard-hitting wake-up call to Catholics!” Bishop Rene H. Gracida. The Broken Path is a work of love for the Church: a must read for every Catholic with a desire to return our nation to a righteous path and our society to a culture of life.

Renowned pro-life leader Judie Brown was appointed twice by Pope John Paul II and again by Pope Benedict XVI to Pontifical Academy for Life. In her bold new book, The Broken Path, Brown addresses both the political intrigue in the hierarchy of America’s Catholic Church and challenges faced by modern Catholics in this great nation.

Neither Truth nor The Broken Path is always flattering: contemporary Catholic leaders in the Church worthy of praise are singled out as are others warranting greater scrutiny. But most importantly, Judie Brown shows each of us how we can have a positive impact for the glory of God and the integrity of the Catholic Church.

George H. Kubeck, * Mark your calendar Jan. 5th and 19th from 9-10 AM of each month at McDonald’s Restaurant, corner of Valley View south of Ball Road in Cypress, Ca. We discuss this book and the Testimony of Bishop Lori to the House Committee on Religious Rights. It will always be the first and third THURSDAY OF THE MONTH.

Meditations for the New Year

Meditations for the New Year

I chose some of the thoughts expressed by Mother Assumpta Long O.P. at the Prayer Breakfast in Orange County, California on Wed. Sept. 28, 2011.

Each of us is called to accomplish great things. Walk on the water whenever Christ asks you. We need to circle the wagons around all the Catholics in the world. To fight the power of evil in the world:

Recall the Lord and what he has given us: Sacraments – Sacred Scripture – Tradition – Magisterium: We believe in the Community of Saints. We need to remain Church in our covenant today. To change the culture:

We are never alone surrounded with the Saints. Find shelter in the Community of the Saints. Christians live in the prayers of the Saints: The walls between heaven and earth are like glass.

Contemplation and giving the fruit of your contemplation to others: We are called to be contemplative – called to be Saints.

Focus on 3 things: Joy – Today’s Saint and Martyr Wenceslas was a joyful Saint. Joy flows from knowing God and His Love. G.K. Chesterton said, “Man is no more himself than when joy is part of him.”

When we are gifted with so much love and grace, we are bound to share this with others. St. Thomas Aquinas is usually given credit for the following phrase, “To contemplate and give others the fruits of your contemplation.” Our contemplative nuns pray for us.

The power of prayer: God wants to use our prayers to accomplish great needs in the world. St. Thomas Aquinas, “Our privilege is to serve and love God.” More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.

Come to be your true self through prayer. Accomplish his will in us. Sometimes words are inadequate. St. Catherine of Sienna was busiest person in the world. She spent three years of prayer in her own room. The God told her to go into the world. Do God’s will! Note her mom had 24 children.

A third way is to study the faith in order to share it with others. How important it is for each of us to be what God wants us to be. No one else can take your placed and it will not be done. The laity can go into areas which we religious cannot go. This is a call to which only you can respond.

“I will have Thyself.” “Only Thyself.” This was St. Thomas Aquinas’ response to Jesus when offered a reward for having written rightly. We are in union with Christ and support each other and Our Church. Profess together! Reclaim our culture for Christ.

Fraternally yours, George H. Kubeck, Respect Life Chairman, Dec. 19, 2011 for January 2012 Bulletin.

IT WAS BY FAITH

IT WAS BY FAITH
Hebrews 11:1-40 – The Best of the Bible- 365 Most Read Passages – Tyndale House, 1996 – 17th Dec.

What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen. It is the evidence of things we cannot yet see. God gave his approval to people in days of old because of their faith. By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.

•It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. God accepted Abel’s offering to show that he was a righteous man. And although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us because of his faith.

•It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying – “suddenly he disappeared because God took him.” But before he was taken up, he was approved as pleasing to God. So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

•It was by faith that Noah built an ark to save his family from the flood.

•It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. Went without knowing where he was to go.

•It was by faith that Sarah together with Abraham was able to have a child, even though they were too old and Sarah was barren. Abraham believed that God would keep his promise. And so a whole nation came from this one man, Abraham who was too old to have any children – a nation with so many people that, like the stars of the sky and the sand on the seashore, there is no way to count them.

•It was by faith that Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice when God was testing him.

•It was by faith that Isaac blessed his two sons, Jacob and Esau. He had confidence in what God was going to do in the future.

•It was by faith that Jacob, when he was old and dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons and bowed in worship as he leaned on his staff.

•It was by faith that Joseph, when he was about to die, confidentially spoke of God’s bringing the people of Israel out of Egypt.

•It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid of what the king might do.

•It was by faith that Moses, when he grew up, refused to be treated as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to share the oppression of God’s…

•It was by faith that the people of Israel went right through the Red Sea as though they were on dry ground. But when the Egyptians followed, they were drowned.

How deep is your commitment to Christ: Two words describe our faith: confidence and certainty… The beginning point of faith is believing in God’s character – he is who he says. The end point is believing in God promises – he will do what he says. We believe that will fulfill his promises even though we don’t see those promises materializing now – this is true faith.

The NRLC website, at http://capwiz.com/nrlc/home/ provides us with information on how our representatives in Congress and in the Senate vote on pro-life issues.

This letter will inform us on how the 12 Democratic Catholic-label politicians voted in the Senate on 3 fundamental bills. In the past these 12 Senators have already voted to remove conscience protection for doctors and health care workers in Obama Health Care Bill. They are also with a political party that promotes and supports same–sex marriage.

Here are the names of the 12 Senators: 1.) Tom Harkin (IA) – 2.) Dick Durbin (IL) – 3.) Mary Landrieu (LA) – 4.) John Kerry (MA) – 5.) Barbara Mikulski (MD) – 6.) Claire McCaskill (MO) - 7.) Robert Menendez (NJ) - 8.) Robert Casey (PA) - 9.) Jack Reed (RI) – 10.) Patrick Leahy (VT) – 11.) Maria Cantwell ((WA) – 12.) Patty Murray.

The above 12 Senators voted against the Repeal of Obamacare law (2-2/2011, Roll Call No. 9. [The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) strongly supported the repeal as explained in a letter sent to the U.S. House members that passed the House on Jan. 19, 2011. Unfortunately, the McConnell motion failed, 47 to 51 (60 votes were required to prevail), on a straight party-line vote.]

The 12 voted against Blocking funding for Obama health care law (4-14-2011, Roll Call No. 59) [The bill was supported by 47 Senators, all Republicans, and opposed by 53 Senators (51 Democrats and two independents who caucus with the Democrats).

The 12 voted not to Cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood (4-14-2011, Roll Call No. 60) This bill was supported by National Right to Life. [The bill failed, with 42 senators (all Republicans) voting in support of pro-life, 58 (53 Democrats and 5 Republicans) voting against it.

WE COME NOW TO THE CRUX OF THE ISSUE.

HOW WILL THE ABOVE 12 DEMOCRATIC CATHOLIC-LABEL POLITICIANS VOTE ON “TESTIMONY ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY AND RELIGIOUS RIGHTS” BY BISHOP WILLIAM E. LORI TO THE COMMITTEE ON US. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, SUBCOMMITTEE ON THE CONSTITUTION, OCT. 26, 2011 IS SO IMPORTANT TO ALL CATHOLICS ESPECIALLY MEMBERS OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS AND OTHER CHRISTIANS?

WILL THEY VOTE FOR THE 3 BI-PARTISAN BILLS THAT WILL PROTECT RELIGIOUS RIGHTS? THESE ARE:

1)THE PROTECT LIFE ACT (H.R. 358), - 2.) THE ABORTION NON DISCRIMINATION ACT (H.R. 361

3.) THE RESPECT RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE ACT (H.R. 1179)

I BELIEVE THE ABOVE 12 SENATORS WILL VOTE AGAINST THE ABOVE 3 BILLS THAT WILL PROTECT
RELIGIOUS LIBERTIES AND RELIGIOUS RIGHTS. WHAT SHOULD BISHOP WILLIAM E. LORI DO? WHAT SHOULD THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS MEMBERS DO? DO WE NEED TO INFORM VOTERS?

Memo to Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt

Memo to Michael Medved and Hugh Hewitt
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, December 15, 2011

Reference: Interview of Rush Limbaugh by Greta Van Sustern on Fox TV- Dec. 14th, 2011

Preface: Stop promoting directly and indirectly the presidential pursuits of Mitt Romney. [I recall sadly that both of you promoted Arnold Schwarzenegger over Tom McClintock in the Republican primary.] We are a center-right nation. The 3 years of the Obama regime has changed America from pro-choice to a pro-life majority. In 2011 more than 60 pro-life measures were passed in many states of America. [Except for California]. Please comment on the Republican establishment’s contempt for pro-life Republican voters and the Tea party members. Can you give us the names of these advisors and Obama idiots? What follows are VERY INCOMPLETE EXCERPTS from the Greta interview.

•We are living under a number of false elite assumptions of Obama: He is brilliant, messianic, nobody but Obama has ever trod on our world. This first Black President was going to unify us. Rush does not subscribe to this conventional wisdom and several others. When the Wall Street Journal asked Rush for a 400 word commentary on this elected President. He had 4 words, “I hope he fails.” Obama’s policies mattered to Rush and Obama has succeeded. For example, there is the massive loss of individual freedom with Obamacare. There is the green energy and global warming fraud. For Rush it’s all about Obama’s destructive policies.

•It would not have been much different with Hillary Clinton. Both are influenced by Sol Alinsky’s community organizing techniques and ideology.

•For Obama the rich are the problem. This is offensive and outrages. Obama has a chip on his shoulder. America is guilty for being who we are an exceptional country which Obama does not believe in. It is freedom and positive self-interest not selfishness that has made America.

•If the elections were held today, any of the Republican candidates would win, except for Ron Paul. Romney can’t crack 30% of the primary voters. 70% want someone else. Primary voter are conservative. Newt is stuck with his praises of FDR and Romney with a 2002 comment that he is not a partisan Republican but a moderate. [Newt is now subject to smear attacks.]

Nobody is going to be flawless. It is not up to the media for them to win or choose our candidate. There is no doubt about the conservative credentials of Bachman, Perry and Sanatorium. Primary voters want a fighting conservative. Profoundly optimistic that we can win. However Rush is concerned about the gimmick of the moderate voter in the campaign

•Newt did help to cut government; balance the budget and get the welfare reform bill passed. Most of the debates were very good. There was well articulated conservatism in the debate, and the real target is Obama and his policies.

•The established media always glows over the democratic candidate and demeans any conservative leader. Sub-prime mortgage is the root of our financial disaster. It’s the government not Wall Street that forced lending institutions to lend monies for homes to people who couldn’t pay the monies back it back…

George H. Kubeck, It will be a smear campaign of a billion dollars with a 2 faced double standard media.

Obama's Culture of Death - Part 2 of 2

Obama’s Culture of Death – Part 2 of 2
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Monday, December 12, 2011

This is part 2 of a tough blunt article by Jeffry T. Kuhner. He is the president of the Edmund Burke Institute. He is a historian and an editor-in-chief of Reflections magazine. He is a columnist at The Washington Times. He is also a radio talk show host. You may contact him: jkuhner@edmundburkeinstitute.org (mail to: jkuhner@edmundburkeinstitute.org )

Abortion is liberalism’s genocide. Since Roe v. Wade, nearly 50 million babies have been killed – lives exterminated in the wombs of their mothers. Abortion clinics are the Gulag Archipelago of the modern left – a vast system of death camps underpinning the liberal regime’s secular hedonism. For a Godless society predicated upon consequence-free sex, pregnancy is an unwanted nuisance – and a barrier – that must be eliminated. If lives are destroyed then that is the price of sexual utopia.

This is why liberals adamantly refuse to defund Planned Parenthood. And it is why Mr. Obama staunchly supports the government financing of abortion services. It encodes the pernicious principle that an entire category of people – the unborn – are less than fully human and therefore can be arbitrarily extinguished.

Mr. Obama is rapidly advancing the culture of death – abortion, contraception and homosexual marriage. These are not “boutique” or “fringe” issues, as the mainstream media like to portray the obsessive concerns of the religious right or hard-core Christian evangelicals. Rather they involve the most seminal issue of all: whether America survives as a Judeo-Christian nation.

Without a common moral code and Christina heritage, our nation will splinter into Balkanized factions. There would be no social glue to hold us together any longer. Since the 1960’s, America’s cultural disintegration has accelerated. We have become more secular, more perverse, and, ultimately more decadent.

The modern left understands one fundamental reality. Destroying Christianity destroys the culture and civilization it spawned. They are inextricably linked. This is why socialists, such as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, Vladimir Lenin, Leon Trotsky, Saul Alinsky and George Soros have championed militant anti-Christianity, free love, contraception, and abortion. Smash the family and traditional morality and the economic system they gave birth to – capitalism – will come crashing down. This is the Marxist project. Sweep the Christian West into the dustbin of history.

Mr. Obama is a Leninist – a committed revolutionary, who is embarked upon an ambitious project to transform America. He worships statism and secularism – the very antithesis of our Founding Fathers. He has put the United States on the path of civilizational decline and moral ruin. And Obamacare is his Trojan horse.

Dangerous Government Intrusion

Dangerous Government Intrusion
The relentless pursuit of the truth- www.cinopsbegone.com – Sunday, December 11, 2011

Los Angeles (CalCatholic.com) – Writing in the most recent edition of the archdiocesan weekly The Tidings, Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez cited a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision and two bills in the California legislature as examples of governmental actions that undermine healthy families and parental rights.

Under the heading, “We need to stand up for parents and families,” Archbishop Gomez wrote: “There was a time not too long ago, when American society encouraged family values and tried to strengthen the bonds of parents and children. Recent events in our state and nation remind us that’s not always the case anymore.”

“America needs strong families to nurture the values and virtues we need to live as a free and just people,” Wrote Archbishop Gomez. But last week the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling that will make it harder for American parents.” “The court’s decision in Brown vs. Entertainment Merchants Association involved in a 2005 California law that banned the sale of violent videogames to minors,” the archbishop continued. “The court said the law violated video-game makers’ rights to freedom of speech.”

“That may be true,” Archbishop Gomez wrote. “However, as a pastor, I found myself more sympathetic to Justice Clarence Thomas’s dissenting opinion.” “Justice Thomas said that America’s founders would find it ‘absurd’ to say that freedom of speech includes ‘a right to speak to minors’ without going through the minors’ parents,” the archbishop explained.

“In his dissent Justice Thomas offers a kind of ‘mini-history’ lesson,” said Archbishop Gomez. “He explains how important the family was in the thinking of America’s founders. He explains how our government has always respected the role of the family and worked to strengthen parents’ authority and rights.” “Unfortunately, trends in our country – and in our state – seem to be moving in the opposite direction,” the archbishop continued.

“Right now there are two bills in the California legislature that our state’s bishop believe represent a dangerous government intrusion into parents’ rights,’ Archbishop Gomez noted. The first Assembly Bill 499, would let children 12 and under decide for themselves to get vaccinations or get other medications to prevent sexually transmitted diseases,” said the Archbishop. “By passing this bill, in effect government would be encouraging young people to engage in activities that are contrary to their parents’ moral values – and to lie about it or keep it secret from their parents,” wrote Archbishop Gomez. [The 2 bills were promoted and signed by the governor.]

“A second bill, Senate Bill 48, would require school textbooks to teach about the sexual orientations of figures in American history,” the archbishop wrote. “This amounts to the government rewriting history books. It is also another example of the government interfering with parents rights to be their children’s primary educators.” He concluded: “As we pray for another this week, let us commit ourselves to promoting the God-given rights of parents and families in California and in our nation. Let us work to become a people who no longer resort to abortion, birth control, in vito fertilization, and divorce. Let us build a future for our nation in which children grow up in families based on God’s law and natural law. And let us ask Mary the Queen of the Family, to help us with the grace we need to stand up for parents and the family in our day.”

Obama's Culture of Death - Part 1 of 2

Obama’s Culture of Death Part 1 of 2
The relentless pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Saturday, December 10, 2011

This is a classic and the stark truth. Jeffrey T. Kuhner is a columnist at “The Washington Times” and president of the “Edmund Burke Institute”. The editorial first appeared in the “The Washington Times.” [It was posted in The Wanderer – www.thewandererpress.com – August 4, 2011]

“President Obama is on the verge of achieving his liberal revolution. His goal is to destroy our Judeo-Christian culture and replace it with European-style radical secularism.

“The administration is now contemplating forcing health insurance companies to provide free birth control – including the “morning-after” pill – as part of Obamacare. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seriously considering adding contraception to the list of services that must be fully covered by insurers without charging copayments. [As of today Obama has done this.]

“Obamacare is predicated upon massive tax increases to finance universal coverage. It is more than an unsustainable multi-trillion dollar entitlement program – it is an assault upon traditional America. This proposal panders to the feminist lobby, especially Planned Parenthood – the nation’s largest provider of “family planning” and abortion services. Free birth control has nothing to do with “protecting women’s health.” Rather it is about consolidating the sexual revolution. The post-1960s left has been at war with Christianity. Its aim is to erect a utopian socialist state – one built upon the rubble of Judeo-Christian civilization.

“In short, liberals want to create a world without God and sexual permissiveness is their battering ram. Promoting widespread contraception is essential to forging a pagan society based on consequences-free sex.

“The proposal is profoundly immoral. Contraception violates the natural moral order. It decouples sexual intercourse from its main purpose: procreation. It entrenches the hedonistic ethic that sex is about recreation and individual gratification… This is why practically every major religion and most cultures have rightly believed that birth control, pornography, homosexuality, and adultery are wrong.

“They threaten the basic institution of society: the traditional family. The family existed before the state; its importance transcends the state. Hence, our ancestors understood that moral standards must be upheld, not demolished. The breakdown of the family inevitably leads to social collapse.

“Moreover, subsidizing free birth control violates the conscience rights of devout Christian, Orthodox Jews, and Muslims. It compels them to have their hard-earned taxpayer dollars towards go funding behavior that their religious faith condemns as sinful and an abomination – especially, the “morning –after” pill, whose us is a possible form of abortion since it may terminate a conceived child. By adopting the proposal, Obamacare would not only assault the fundamental freedoms of religious Americans, it would make them complicit in Mr. Obama’s cultural liberalism…”

# 4 of 5 - A Critical Analysis of Just/Faith

# 4 of 5 -A Critical Analysis of Just/Faith
The relentless pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Friday, Dec. 9, 2011

[Memo to Justice/Faith Ministry: For Catholics to read and study the writings of Jim Wallis, Bill Ayers, and Saul Alinsky on matters relating to Catholic Social Justice is like working with the ACLU on the First Amendment to our Constitution in pursuit of authentic religious freedom and rights.]

We continue with the classic article by William A. Borst in Mindszenty Report – V. LIII-No. II.

“The articles selected for Cloud of Witnesses support the standard socialist causes and includes many left wing Catholic peace activists and dissenters as well as a Masonic veterans group. The book contains a policy statement in favor of recognition and legal protection for homosexuals, including gay marriage, and articles favor the ordination of women. Cloud serves as an introduction to liberation theology, which the Church has refuted, beginning with Pope Pius XI’s 1937 “Divini Redemptoris” and continuing with every pope since then.

“The Common Good for All: Questions about social justice invariably lead to the issue of socialism in the Church. The first known usage of the term social justice derived from a 19th century priest, Luigi Taparelli D’Azeglio, whose sociology of politics attempted to recover the ancient virtue of what had been called general justice in Aristotle & Thomas Aquinas, but in a new contemporary form.

“The idea of social justice evolved into the notion of the common good which became an integral part of traditional Catholic social teaching. Pope Leo XIII relied on it when he issued his encyclical Rerum Novarum in 1891, for the purpose of combating the excesses of both laissez-faire capitalism and atheistic communism.

“But Pope Leo was not a socialist. He did not equate social justice with a false kind of guaranteed economic equality. He believed that inequality was the natural state of a society because people’s skills are unequal. In Rerum, the pope underscored the inherent right to private property while insisting on the role of the state in requiring a living wage.

"The pope considered the means of production to be both private property requiring state protection and a dimension of the common good requiring state regulation. He clearly understood that in the hands of the government, private property is always at high risk.

“The Tender Road to Death: Since the early 20th century, the progressive left has boldly adapted the history and the rhetoric of social justice and the common good to the detriment, not only of the Church, but also the country. Most Catholics have nothing more than a generic understanding of the term, social justice, which seems to have replaced sin in the dogmatic lexicon. It is promoted from the pulpit as an unexplained given that should not be questioned or discussed. This new understanding recognizes the government as an agent of social justice and unabashed purveyor of the redistribution of a nation’s wealth and resources…”

Pravda or Goebbels

Pravda or Goebbels
Relentless pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, December 8, 2011

Honest journalism is dead. It has been politicized and agenda driven. It promotes the culture of death and undermines conservative, traditional values, and historic American principles. How do you deal with this two-faced, double standard mainstream news media?

Let’s check out alternative news, and why they entered the news business! - WorldNet Daily Exclusive “Do you remember why 69 million Americans voted for Obama?” Mon., Dec. 5, 2011

“These are times that try men’s souls” Thomas Paine

“For while everything good, decent and generous about America tends to assert itself at Christmastime, we continue to witness outrage after outrage in Washington, D.C., as a disgraced and repudiated administration continues in its attempt to transform America into something that would horrify Thomas Paine and the other Founding Fathers.

“May people have analyzed, pontificated and written books about how we got to such a low point, but please allow me to remind you of what is undoubtedly the No. 1 reason America is today writhing under the “leadership” of the most destructive and dangerous president in history…

“It’s because he had an advantage no other presidential candidate has ever had – the total, unabashed support of the “mainstream media,” which was so enchanted by the prospect of a young, eloquent, cool, liberal – and for the first time in history, black – president, that they ignored his anti-American, Marxist, Islamic and criminal associations and his unbelievable subservice track record. Instead of vetting him as was their solemn duty, the media lifted him high overhead and giddily race across the finish line, all the while reassuring Americans Obama would be a great, “historic” and “transformative” president.

“As if to assuage their guilt, immediately after Election Day, when it no longer mattered, Washington Post ombudsman Deborah Howell publicly admitted the paper’s reporters and editors had utterly neglected to vet either Obama, who “deserved tougher scrutiny,” or Biden – an omission she referred to as “one gaping hole in [Post] coverage.”

“But the problem with journalism today is not just “gaping holes in coverage” and temporary abdication of professional journalism standards. Our “big media” have come increasingly to resemble the state-run we see in China, with its gigantic Xinhua “New” Agency, in reality a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party…

"Here’s the problem: YOU CANNOT HAVE A FREE COUNTRY WITHOUT A FREE PRESS. Yet America’s “big media” today – especially the national broadcast and cable TV news (except perhaps Fox) as well as the major trendsetting newspapers like the New York Times – have devolved into a DE FACT0 GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA MINISTRY..." Obama's Class Warfare: Big Business and Workers

Obama’s Class Warfare: Big Business and Workers
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Wednesday, December 7, 2011

Gary Bauer is the author of this insightful article worthy of your attention. Human Events: 12/5/11.

“The headlines tell us that unemployment rate in November fell to 8.6%, it is the lowest level in more than ten years. But, as with much in the Age of Obama, the devil is in the details. The primary reason for the drop is that more than 300,000 Americans ceased looking for work last month – more than twice the number who actually got jobs…

“Last week, Leon Cooperman, CEO of Omega Advisors, a hedge fund, sent Obama a blistering open letter, criticizing the President’s “desperate demagoguery” against job creators. “Capitalism is not the source of our problems, as an economy or as a society,” Cooperman wrote reminding Obama:

“As a group, [capitalists] employ many millions of taxpaying people, pay their salaries, provide them with health care coverage, start new companies, found new industries, create new products, fill shelves at Christmas, and keep the wheels of commerce and progress (and indeed of government, by generating the income whose taxation funds it) moving.”

“To frame the debate as one of rich-and-entitled versus poor-and-dispossessed,” Cooperman continued, “is to both miss the point and further inflame an already incendiary environment. It is also a naked, political pander to some of the of the basest human emotions – strategy, as history teaches, that never ends well for anyone but totalitarians and anarchists.”…

“Six months ago Bill Looman, CEO of U.S. Cranes, recently posted signs on his company’s trucks stating, “New Company Policy: We are not hiring until Obama is gone.”… Facebook pictures of the signs went viral, prompting a visit from the Secret Service, which interviewed Looman as a possible security threat to the President. Welcome to Obama World, where intimidation of the President’s critics is becoming commonplace…

“Cooperman and Looman are hardly alone. Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus lambasted Obama in July, saying that “Home Depot would never have succeeded if we’d tried to start it today. Every day you see rules and regulations from a group of Washington bureaucrats who know nothing about running a business.” Whole Foods CEO John McKay has said, “It was a lot easier for me to start my business 30 years ago than it is for an entrepreneur starting out today to do the same thing…

“Democrats apparently are under no illusions about who will ultimately pay the price for their job-stifling policies. Preparation by Democratic operatives for the 2012 election make it clear for the first time that the party WILL EXPLICITLY ABANDON THE WHITE WORKING CLASS, the “New York Times’ Thomas Edsall wrote last week.

"All pretense of trying to win the majority of the white working class has been effectively jettisoned…It’s been years since Democrats have fared well among white working-class voters. Obama lost them in 2008, and he didn’t help himself by infamously referring to Middle Americans as clinging bitterly to guns, xenophobia and religion. The Democrats lost these voters by 30 percentage points in the 2010 midterm elections …”

George H. Kubeck - Obama’s hope and unity of 2008 will be replaced by European class warfare, divisions, smears & demonizing of opponents with a campaign of a billion dollars & the mainstream media for him.

Persecutions of Christians: Islam: London

Persecution of Christians: Islam: London
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011

Associated Press – Oct. 10, 2011 – “Christians under siege in post-revolution Egypt” MY beef is with the almost total silence by Catholic leaders in North America with what is happening to their fellow Catholic Christians in the Muslim world. They seem to be blind, tone deaf and don’t care.

“At Tahrir Square, the epicenter of the revolution against Mubarak, there were glimpses of a fleeting utopia where coexistence and mutual respect between Muslims and Christians was the rule. The iconic image of Christians forming a human shield around Muslim worshippers during Friday prayer to protect them from thugs and pro-Mubarak loyalists spoke volumes to the dream.

“But shortly after Mubarak’s ouster, a series of assaults on Christians brought home at stark reality: The fading of authoritarian rule empowered Islamist fundamentalists, Known as Salafis, who have special resentment for Christians.

“While the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood has long been Egypt’s best organized opposition movement, the Salafis are a new player in politics. They are ultraconservatives, close to Saudi Arabia’s Wahhabi interpretation of Islam and more radical than the Brotherhood…

“The Salafis persistently accuse the Copts of trying to spread Christianity in a Muslim nation, echoing Wahhabism’s deep distrust and hostility of other religions…

“On Feb. 23, less than two weeks after Mubarak’s ouster, a priest was found dead with several stab wounds and witnesses say masked men shouting Allahu-Akbar (God is great) were seen living his apartment. The incident triggered protests in the southern city of Assiut where Christians scuffled with Muslims…

“Not long after in March, a Muslim-Christians love affair led a Muslim mob to torch a church in Soul village to the south of Cairo and set it on fire. When Christians held a protest denouncing the attack on the church, they were attacked by Muslim mob wielding guns, knives and clubs. When it was done, 13 were dead and 140 injured… Then in May, Islamic ultraconservatives burned a church in the working-class district of Imbaba in Cairo and clashed with Christians leaving 12 dead…"

The Mindset within the Obama Regime

The Mindset within the Obama Regime
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Tuesday, Dec. 6th, 2011

To be well informed of what is going on in America, the daily e-mails from Family Research Council are excellent. Here is one dated, Dec. 2, 2011 titled, Genesis of the Bible’s Exodus from Troop Hospitals.

“The soldiers who wake up in Walter Reed Medical Center are in Maryland – not communist China. But under the Navy’s new rules, they may not know the difference! After months of peeling away the military’s core values, Obama’s army is on the move.

“And this time it has a high-value target: the Bible. In a memo obtained by FRC, Navy officials have announced that “no religious items (including Bibles, reading materials, and/artifacts) are allowed to be given or used during a visit.” The new orders are buried in four-page document about patient care, which an Army officer forwarded to us in disbelief. Effect immediately, families, friends, and even pastors will have to check their beliefs at the door to visit one of the largest military hospitals in the United States.

“Last night, after we circulated the memo to leaders on the Hill, an outraged Steve King (R-Iowa) took to the House floor and blasted the policy. “Mr. Speaker, these military men and women who are recovering at Walter Reed and Bethesda have given their all to America … They’ve defended and taken an oath to the Constitution, and here they arr. The people that come to visit them can’t bring a religious artifact? They can’t bring a Bible? … A priest can’t walk in with the Eucharist and offer communion to patient who might be on their deathbed because it’s prohibited in this memo from the Department of the Navy?”

“This is Obama’s military, where homosexuality is celebrated and Christianity is censored; and Bibles are banned; where same-sex weddings are encouraged but international charity is not. After three years of ideological warfare, the administration intent is clear: to disarm the military of its biggest weapon. Faith…

[Now for another topic]

“It was a grueling three hours for officials at Health and Human Services (HHS), but Rep. (R-Calif.) certainly got his point across. Yesterday, in a packed room, House leaders pounced on the Obama administration for its religious bias in government outreach.

At the heart of the discussion was HHS’s decision to cut off funding for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USSCB) program for sex trafficking victims. Despite scoring the second highest in HHS’ own evaluation process, political appointees refused to renew USCCB’s contract, and sources inside the agency say the group’s pro-life’s beliefs – not its program delivery – were to blame… Another friend of FRC, Rep. Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY), explained how traumatizing it would be to push abortion on women who are suffering physically and emotionally. While the matter is far from over, we congratulate Chairman Issa and others for taking time to spotlight the corruption at HHS…”

A Critical Analysis of Just/Faith - Part 3 of 5

A Critical Analysis of Just/Faith – Part 3 of 4 or 5
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Monday, December 5, 2011

We continue to read from the Nov. 2011 issue titled, “Blowin’ in the Wind” – Just/Faith and the Socialist Indoctrination of the Church. Thanks to William A. Borst, Ph.D. – BBPROF@sbcglobal.net this is one of many outstanding monthly reports from the “Cardinal Mindszenty Foundation.”

Just Trouble: (cont’d) despite its growing popularity, Just/Faith has unleashed a legion of critics who point out that Jezreel’s program is nothing but a platform for an ultra left wing social, political, and economic agenda that is NOT consistent with traditional Catholic social teaching. The trouble with the JustFaith Ministries is that it is not about either justice or faith but about power. As Walter Rauschenbusch said in the late 19th century, religion is just a means to get, not justice but socialism, which is a demonic attempt to corral the world’s masses into a single unit that will be forced to march to its secular drummer.

JustFaith reduces Catholicism to an unofficial set of economic and political solutions to the gamut of social problems that afflict this country. It overemphasizes aspects of Catholic social teaching or takes them out of context to the point that they become easy fodder for their secular political and economic agenda.

The JustFaith syllabus contains grave doctrinal errors, regarding the ordination of women and other questions on the divinity of Christ. Its facilitators have been known to reject personal salvation and sin in favor of collective salvation and social sins, such as poverty and racism. These attitudes are detrimental to the faith and salvation of individual Catholics. No matter how great their commitment to social justice, dissenting opinions such as these can only confuse Catholics as to what their Church actually teaches.

JustFaith’s dogmatic waters are muddled even further through its public affiliations. In 2005 it announced a partnership with The Catholic Campaign for Human Development to promote and support parish and diocesan involvement in the JustFaith program. While JustFaith is purportedly dedicated to justice, it fails to publicly that it supports the injustice of abortion. Call to Action also disseminates a liberationist approach, which is not a Catholic position on social justice. It also works in the partnership with many other controversial Catholic social groups, such as Bread for the World, the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, and Pax Christi.

A Cloud of Theology: Similarly, JustFaith’s reading is riven with dissenting writers, whose distortions of Scripture & Catholic teaching stress more the divisive needs to reveal class antagonisms & to restructure society along Marxist lines.

JustFaith enthusiastically recommends Selected Readings in Liberation Theology by Gustavo Gutierrez. Dennis A. Jacobsen’s Doing Justice is an introductory Theology of congregation-based community organizing based on Jacobsen’s many years of personal experience in urban ministries. He designed his book to be used by church leaders, congregations and ministerial students to help- America are poor, disadvantaged, and disenfranchised. Ironically Jacobsen’s strategies rely heavily on atheistic Saul Alinsky’s rule of disruption to weave his activist’s handbook for urban social justice.

The Cloud of Witnesses by evangelical minister Jim Wallis is the most revealing on Jezreel’s reading list. The articles and interviews were adapted from material published in Wallis’ pacifist Sojourners Magazine. Wallis also promotes the New Sanctuary Movement for illegal immigrants in America through the Faith in Public Life network of spiritual progressives, many of whom advocate abortion and homosexual marriage…

The Meaning of Advent*

THE MEANING OF ADVENT*
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011

Pope Benedict XVI speaks his mind:

1)Advent – what does it mean? Advent is a Latin word that can be rendered in English as “presence, arrival”. In the language of the ancient world it was a technical term expressing the arrival of an official, especially the arrival of kings or emperors in the provinces. It could, however equally denote the arrival of the deity who appears out of concealment and powerfully manifests his presence or whose presence was celebrated in cultic ritual. The Christians adopted this term to proclaim their special relationship to Jesus Christ…”God is here.” He has not abandoned this world. He has not left us behind alone. Even though we cannot see and touch him like so many things – he is present, nevertheless, and visits us in many ways… His presence has already begun, and we, the believers, are the one through whom he desires to be present in the world.

2)Saint Paul wrote to the Christians in Rome: “The hour has come … the night is far spent, day is near. Let us, therefore, cast aside the deeds of darkness, and put on the armor of light. Let us conduct ourselves honorably as in daylight, not in revelries and drunkenness, without lewdness and debauchery, without quarrels and dissension. No, put on the Lord Jesus Christ …” Advent, accordingly, means to get up, to be awake, to rise from sleep!... The nocturnal orgy of an image of a world gone wrong – are we not compelled to realize, with dismay, how accurately Saint Paul describes here our own times as well, times that are sliding back into paganism? To rise from sleep – this means to rise from conformity with such a world and with such times, courageous in virtue, courageous in faith to shake off the dream that prevents us from recognizing our vocation and our highest potential…

3)Advent is also a reality for the Church. God did not divide history into two halves, one bright and the other dark. He did not separate men into those he has redeemed and those he has forgotten. There is but one indivisible history, which as a whole is marked by man’s weakness and wretchedness and which as a whole stands under God’s merciful love that incessantly envelops and sustains history. Our century compels us to learn anew the truth of Advent: the truth, namely, that Advent always has been and yet still is; that all mankind is one in God’ eyes; that all mankind stands in darkness; and yet that all mankind is also illuminated by God’ s light.

4)Advent is not mere remembrance and representation of something of the past, but that Advent means this present time, this our present reality: the Church here does not indulge in play but refers us to something that represents the truth about our Christian existence.

Secular Left's Intolerance of Religious Freedom*

Secular Left’s Intolerance of Religious Freedom*
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Saturday, December 3, 2011

“With Advent underway, get ready for the annual debate over whether stores should say, Merry Christmas” (offensive to non-Christians, critics say) or “Season’s greetings (a capitulation to political correctness, many Christians say)…

“Social liberals claim they promote tolerance, preventing oppressive Christian conservatives from “imposing their morality” on everyone. But the state of the culture war in America today is almost the opposite. The secular Left is using the might of government to make it harder for religious people to live their own lives according to their faith.

“Nancy Pelosi, who regularly loudly declares herself a faithful Catholic, last week belittled the Catholic hospitals: “They have this conscience thing,” she sneered about the hospitals that want to be free not to abort unborn babies. How ironic that Pelosi and like-minded liberals call themselves “pro-choice.”

“Newt Gingrich put it well in the recent Thanksgiving Family Forum in Iowa: “If you look at the history from the mid-1960s, we’ve gone from a request for toleration to an imposition of intolerance. We’ve gone from a quest to understand others to a determination to close down those who hold traditional values…

“… Department Secretary Kathleen Sebelius issued a rule outlawing any new insurance plan that doesn’t fully cover the cost of all contraception, including “morning-after” pills that can also cause abortions. The rule included a conscience exemption for “religious employers,” but it defined “religious” so narrowly that it applies to virtually no one…

“Belmont Abbey College is a Catholic college in North Carolina that was founded by Benedictine monks. In all likelihood, the “religious employer” exemption won’t protect Belmont Abbey, and the school will be forced to buy contraceptives for its students, in violation of the Church’s teaching.

"College President Bill Thierfelder wrote in a memo, “As a college, we find our center in Jesus Christ Not only in our teaching, but also in our actions. Our policies must mirror our beliefs – we simply cannot do what we believe is morally wrong. We are not imposing our beliefs upon anyone else. We respect the constitutional right of faiths to freely exercise their religion. We simply want that constitutional right given to us as well.”…

"In a legal complaint in the District federal court, the college contends that Sebelius’s free-pill-for-all mandate is simple persecution: “Had Belmont Abbey College’s religious beliefs been obscure or unknown, the government’s actions might have been an accident,” the complaint allows. “But because the government acted with full knowledge of those beliefs, and because it allows plans not to cover these services for a wide range of reason other than religion, the Mandate can be interpreted as nothing other than a deliberate attack by the government on the religious beliefs of Belmont College and millions of other Americans.”

The Obama administration is deliberately making it illegal for Catholics to live as Catholics. This is the standard fare from today’s Left…”

Archbishop Gomez and the CINOP

Archbishop Gomez and the CINOP
Relentless pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Thursday, December 1, 2011

Poignant excerpts from the Address of the Most Rev. Jose H. Gomez on May 14, 2011 at the Thomas Aquinas College Graduates held its 37th annual Commencement exercises. www.thomasaquinas.edu

“We have eliminated God from all the processes by which we seek knowledge about ourselves and about our world. God is no longer a factor in our methods. Hence, God is nowhere to be found among our conclusions.

“This fact has profound implications for the world you are entering into, my dear young brothers and sisters. You are entering into a culture in America and in the West that is increasingly secularized and “de-Christianized.” “Powerful interests* have been at work for decades now, seeking to erase the influence – and even the memory – of Western civilization’s Christian roots. God has been eclipsed not only in science, but also in our laws and public policies, in our arts and literature, in our schools and media.

“The goal, advocates of this effort say, is to get to a “post-Christian society.”

“They imagine a beautiful world, liberated from depending on God or superstitious or “magical” thinking. They imagine a society governed by reason and technology, dedicated to individual freedom and the pursuit of material comfort…

“Now, I believe this “goal” of a secular, post-Christian society is a seductive illusions and a trap. But that is the subject for another talk at another time.

This afternoon, I just want to point out that this mindset will be a challenge to you, dear graduates. But it forms the territory of your Christian witness and mission. This is the environment in which you are called to proclaim Christ as His disciples…”

At this point let’s access the blog letter, “Overview of Bishop Lori’s Testimony on Religious Liberty”, Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011. We must overcome the deathly silence on and about Catholic-label politicians who are voting against the three bi-partisan Congressional laws that will protect our religious liberty and conscience clause in the public sector. For example, in the Senate I recall about 12 Catholic label politicians voted against conscience protection in the Obama Health Care Law.

Now this blog focuses only on the Catholic-label politicians. But there are many Catholic-label persons who attend Church and are for partial-birth abortion or same-sex marriage or embryonic stem-cell research etc. The bishops and other religious know who they are in the community. In the name of “The Catechism of the Catholic Church” and co-religious fraternity; we belong to the same Catholic Church, cannot these persons be persuaded to talk to the CINOP to vote for these three laws. This is a most serious matter. Otherwise it will be a tragedy for the Church and our country!

George H. Kubeck,

P.S. *Who are these powerful interests? Let me personally speculate. 1) The ACLU which Bill O’Reilly of Fox News considers the most dangerous organization in the U.S.A. 2) Large misguided Corporations like Home Depot that financially supports the Homosexual Agenda. 3) The filthy rich and selected philanthropy monies going to organization that have a false interpretation of the 1st Amendment and the Separation of Church and State. Etc.
