Planned Parenthood Update

Planned Parenthood Update
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013

By Jim Sedlak, American Life League, Celebrate Life, May-June 2012

“American Life League recently issued it annual report on the number of Planned Parenthood facilities across the United States… Planned Parenthood has a national office in New York City and operates its clinics through a number of separately incorporated affiliates scattered throughout the country. As the affiliates chart shows, their number has steadily declined, from a high of 181 affiliates in 1987 to just 82 affiliates in 2011.

“In general, PP combines affiliates to cut costs, through elimination of high-paying management positions. This reduction reflects the growing need of the nation’s largest abortion chain to continually cut costs in order to maintain its operations.

“Of more critical importance to Planned Parenthood is the severe decline in the number of its clinics, which operate in communities nationwide. They push PP’s programs and commit all of its abortions.

“As you can see in clinics chart, the number of PP clinics has fallen to 749 - the lowest number since 1985. When a clinic closes, it generally means PP moves out of town. The community is then free of PP’s pernicious influence, and its incessant push to get teens and young adults sexually active outside of marriage. The entire community wins when PP leaves.

“In 2011, 322 PP facilities were committing surgical and/or medical abortions. Of those, 170 facilities were committing surgical abortions, while 152 were committing medical abortions, but not surgical. Forty-three percent of Planned Parenthood clinics now commit surgical and/or medical abortions.

“A number of things happened in 2011 that contributed to the decline of PP’s clinics:
[Also thanks to the Tea Party/Republican Pro-Life Congresspersons elected in 2010.]

Live Action videotaped several showing PP’s apparent willingness to offer aid and support to child sex traffickers.
Nine states passed legislation to defund Planned Parenthood.

Texas’ defunding efforts led directly to the closing of 16 Planned Parenthood facilities.
In Arizona, a new abortion law caused at least seven Planned Parenthood facilities to cease offering surgical and medical abortions.

40 Days for Life events targeted even more Planned Parenthood facilities than in previous years.

Victories through Our Lady

American Life League officially launched the “Bringing Jesus to Planned Parenthood through Mary” campaign in 2010. The results have been fantastic. In just two years, Planned Parenthood has closed down 96 facilities! It has also opened 28 new facilities in that time, so the net number of clinic closures is 68.

That means an average of 34 facilities per year have closed since we began our Mary Campaign - compared with an average of seven per year for the preceding 16 years.

The abortion giant has long projected an aura of invincibility, especially on the national level. However, when the U.S. House of Representatives voted to cut off its taxpayer funding last year, Planned Parenthood was left screaming. IT WAS ONLY DIRECT ACTION BY PRESIDENT OBAMA HIMSELF THAT KEPT ITS FUNDING IN PLACE. HE THREATENED TO SHUT DOWN THE ENTIRE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RATHER THAN ALLOW ANY MONIES TO BE DENIED TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD…. [Appropriate Placards: Down with the Values of Sol Alinsky - Be Informed Chris Matthews is a Professed Alinskyite - De-fund Planned Parenthood.

2- Break Free from the Diabolical Hollywood TV

2- Break Free from the Diabolical Hollywood TV
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2012

American Family Journal, Feb. 2013, “Wormwood” by Ed Vitagliano, www.afajournal.org

“More than 88% of American adults watch television every day, and the average adult watches between five and five-and-a half hours. Children and teenagers come in at an average of three-and-a-half hours a day.

“In 2012, according to the Nielsen Company, which tracks habits related to television, and more than 84% of U.S. households had more than one TV set. In 1960 it was 12%. Is all this TV good or bad for Americans…. Evidence is mounting, however, that in its presentation of violence, sex and profanity, even the use of tobacco, alcohol and drugs, television shapes those who watch it. TV is not only ubiquitous, but also persuasive and potent in its ability to influence our values and behavior….

“In a 2011 article for Psychology Today, Peter Guber said that in his 40 years in the movie-making business, “I’ve come to see that stories … are far more than entertainment. They are the most effective form of human communication, more powerful than any other ways of packaging information.” Why? Stories hit the viewer emotionally and thus connect him or her to the characters in the film. The viewer “can very quickly come to identify psychologically with characters in a narrative or share an experience - courtesy of the images evoked in the telling,” Gruber said.

“It’s why people are mesmerized by a movie series like Twilight or a drama like Glee, but often don’t know how many members of Congress serve in Washington, D.C…. Once people have been transfixed by a story, however, transferring new values becomes easier. Guber said telling “purposeful stories” is the most effective means of persuading people and “the most effective way of translating ideas into action.”…

“A pair of fascinating 2008 studies appear to validate Guber’s theory. The first, headed by Eliana La Ferrara, professor of economics at Bocconi University in Italy, was a study focused on the influence of soap operas on fertility rates in Brazil…. What researchers found was stunning. After to exposure to soap operas, family size began to shift to reflect family sizes in the novelas. It was as if viewers began to identify with the characters they were watching and began to mimic their lifestyles. In fact, said the study, “[People living in areas covered by the [Rede Globo] signal were more likely to name their children after novela characters” than those who did not….

“More remarkable, the study was able to demonstrate that it wasn’t simply television per se that led to altered fertility rates but the soap operas themselves. In other words, it was the content of TV programming that influenced attitudes and behavior….

“Similarly, a study headed by Robert Jensen of the UCLA School of Public Affairs examined the effect of the spread of cable television in India as it related to the status of women. Researchers found that introduction of cable into villages and had previously been without it changed attitudes on matters such as the acceptability of domestic violence against women and preference for having sons rather than daughters. Like the Brazil study, a drop in fertility also resulted after cable television entered a region….

“What is remarkable about the Jensen and La Ferrara studies, however, is the empirical demonstration of the power of television to change attitudes and behavior for good or evil. In fact, both studies concluded with a pitch for government to use the potency of television to shape the culture…. In America, of course, the manipulation has been handled for the last 50 years, by and large, not by the government, but Hollywood….” [The leftist brainwashing propaganda machine has been an outstanding success in reelecting President Barack Obama.]

Andrew Cuomo's Brave New Roe

Andrew Cuomo’s Brave New Roe
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2012

That’s the title of the story in National Catholic Register, Jan. 27 - Feb. 9, 2013- Here’s more:
New York State’s Catholic Governor Pushes On-Demand Abortion Legislation

“By Peter Jesserer Smith, Register Correspondent, Albany, N.Y. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is flexing his political muscle to give abortion advocates their biggest state victory in 40 years since Roe v. Wade: a sweeping expansion of abortion law that, if enforced, could put Catholic hospitals and many state-funded ministries out of business….

“Kathleen Gallagher, the conference’s director of pro-life activities said Cuomo’s legislation would make illegal abortion restrictions, such as parental-notification laws, informed-consent laws, restrictions on taxpayer funding of abortion and abortion bans of any kind.

“The law will allow licensed medical professionals other than a physician to perform first-trimester abortions. The Democratic governor announced in his Jan. 9 State of the State address that he would expand legal abortion as part of a comprehensive women’s-equality bill, declaring three times, “It’s her body, her choice” to thunderous applause.

“Gov. Cuomo vociferously declared that women’s equality, safety and reproductive rights will be a priority for New York state in 2013,”…

Late-Abortion Green Light: “Cuomo’s bill removes criminal penalties for third-trimester abortions after 24 weeks by adding a broad health exception. Current state law allows such late-term abortions if there is a danger to the mother’s life. Chris Slattery, director of the Expectant Mother Care (EMC) pregnancy centers in New York City, said the new law will make New York City the late-term abortion capital of the world.

“It’s going to open up the third-trimester market,” Slattery said. “It’s going to be huge, and people all over the world, not just our of state are going to be coming to New York to have and perform these abortions.” Late term abortions generally cost more than $2,000.

“It’s the fight of the pro-life movement in New York,” Slattery said. “This is worse than Roe v. Wade itself, and everyone needs to focus on defeating this bill.”

"The Guttmacher Institute’s New York state abortion data showed that 33% of New York pregnancies end in abortion - nearly twice the national rate of 19%. Only 53% of New York pregnancies resulted in live births, with the remaining 14% ending with miscarriage….

"Pro-life state Sen. Diaz said he had no hope the bill could be stopped in the Senate without personal lobbying from Cardinal Timothy Dolan of New York…. Gallagher warned that the state bill has no conscience protections for religious institutions….

George H. Kubeck, 1) There is something rotten in the State of New York. I sincerely believe that if (Catholic-in-name-only politician) CINOP Andrew Cuomo were a Republican, he would have been censored or excommunicated years ago. Cardinal Timothy Dolan has a problem with his key advisors. It could be a mindset that is similar to the bishop in Amarillo who recalled Reverend Frank Pavone, Priests for Life who was doing victorious pro-life ministry many months before the 2012 Presidential elections.

Peggy Noon: Obama's Enemies

Peggy Noonan: Obama’s Enemies
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013

Again another classic from Peggy Noon in the Opinion Section of Wall Street Journal, Jan. 26/27/2013

Preface: I believe it is a badge of honor to be on Obama’s enemy list. I know it is all the Republicans but believe me it is also it also includes Christians, conservative, independent, libertarian or even pro-life Democrats. We will be facing this most divisive U.S. President for the next four years. Thanks to his Pravda news media, he would never have gotten elected. How to deal with that reality is always on my mind? On the subject of reality Mark Steyn has an excellent article in Sunday’s Orange County Register, Jan. 27, 2013. - Benghazi Hearings - Hillary lip-synced more than Beyonce.

“Finally, it became obvious this week that the Republican party top to bottom has to start taking Barack Obama seriously. All the famous criticism of him are true: He has not talent for or interest in sustained, good-faith negotiations, he has no real sense of alarm about the great issues of the day, America’s debt. He is a chill presence in a warm-blooded profession.

“But he means business. He means to change America in fundamental ways and along the lines of justice as he sees it. The proper response to such a man is not is not - was not - that he’s a Muslim, he’s a Kenyan, he is working out his feelings about colonialism. Those charges were meant to marginalize him. They damaged Republicans, who came to see him as easy to defeat.

“He doesn’t care if you like him - he’d just as soon you did, but it is not necessary for him. He is certain he is right in what he is doing, which is changing the economic balance between rich and poor. The rich are going to be made less rich, and those who are needy and request help are going to get more in government services, which the rich will pay for. He’d just a soon the middle class not get lost in the shuffle, but if they wind up marginally less middle class he won’t be up nights. The point is redistribution.

“The great long-term question is the effect the change in mood he seeks to institute will have on what used to be called the national character. Eight years is almost half a generation. Don’t you change people when you tell them they have an absolute right to government support regardless of their efforts? Don’t you encourage dependence and a bitter sense of entitlement? What about the wearing of tax payers, especially those who are younger, do not fully understand that what is supporting them is actually coming from other people. To them it seems to come from ‘the government’ the big marble machine far away that prints money…. “You didn’t build that are the defining words of his presidency.”

“He is not going to negotiate, compromise, cajole. Absent these efforts his only path to primacy in Congress is to kill the Republican party, to pulverize it, as John Dickerson noted this week in Slate, to “attempt to annihilate the Republican Party,” as Speaker John Boehner said in a remarkable candid speech to the Ripon Society….

“What Mr. Obama really is Franklin Delano without the landslides. He has the same seriousness of intent but nothing like the base of support. In 1932, FDR won the presidency with 58% of the vote to Herbert Hoover’s 40%. In 1936, it was even better: Roosevelt won with 61% of the vote to Alf Landon’s 36.5%. “In 2008, Mr. Obama beat John McCain solidly, 53% to 46%. But last year against a woe begotten GOP candidate, he won just 51% of the vote to Mitt Romney 47%. (Yes: ironic) His support went down not up. [2 % must have gone to third party candidates. ghk]

“He is moving forward as if he has FDR’s mandate and attempting to crush his enemy every bit as ruthlessly as FDR, who was one ruthless patrician. It will take guts and unity to fight him. Can the GOP, just in Washington for now develop those things?”

Break Free from the Diabolical Hollywood TV

1- Break Free from the Diabolical Hollywood TV
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013

American Family Journal, Feb. 2013, “Wormwood” by Ed Vitagliano, www.afajournal.org

Transformational power: (Excerpts from Wormwood)
It is not unfair to argue that, for the last half century, Hollywood elites have become a new class of prophets speaking their version of truth into the living rooms of America. And it if frequently debilitating and corrosive to our cultural mores….

Last summer, commentator and writer Jonathan Chait penned a fascinating article admitting that the cultural and political left - of which he declares himself to be a part - had intentionally used Hollywood as an instrument of social change. …

“Imagine that large chunks of your entertainment mocked you values and even transformed once-uncontroversial beliefs of yours into a kind of bigotry that might be greeted with revulsion,” Chait said to fellow liberals. “You’d probably be angry, too.” In his 4,200 word commentary, Chait pointed to example after example of Hollywood’s overwhelmingly leftist slant - and its passionate effort to change American society….

In 2011, conservative commentator and syndicated columnist Ben Shapiro interviewed more than 100 well-placed Hollywood insiders. These industry elites assumed that Shapiro was liberal, and their candor in admitting the open secret of leftist bias resulted in the book, Prime Time Propaganda..

According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, Leonard Goldberg said that liberalism in the television industry is “100% dominant, and anyone who denies it is kidding or not telling the truth.”..

A study released in 2012, for example, demonstrated the power of television to even erode the marital bond…. (Dr. Jeremy Osborn) Examined the effect on marriages when people watched fictional romances on TV shows such as Two and a Half Men (CBS) and True Blood (HBO). “In this study I found that people who believe the unrealistic portrayals on TV are actually less committed to their spouses and think their alternatives to their spouses are relatively attractive,” Osborn said. “It turns out that people are warping their expectations with their real life partners because of what they are seeing on TV.” he added….

In a 2006 study published in the Journal Homosexuality … in the communication studies department at University of Minnesota, found that pro-homosexual sitcom Will and Grace impacted viewers attitudes toward gays and lesbians and homosexual relationships. The NBC show was popular on network television from 1998 to 2006.

The Schiappa study surveyed 245 undergraduate students to ascertain their attitudes towards homosexuals and the frequency with which they watched the sitcom. “The greater the viewing frequency of Will and Grace, the lower the level of sexual prejudice toward gay men.”…

For example, 71% of those who regularly viewed the program believed that homosexual relationships were “normal” like those of heterosexuals, while only 45% of non-viewers agreed…

This transformational power of television is undeniable. Chait noted when CINOP VICE-PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN endorsed same sex marriage in May 2012, he “cited WILL & GRACE as the single-most important driving force in transforming public opinion on the subject.

“In so doing,” Chait continued, “[BIDEN] actually confirmed the long-standing fear of conservatives - that a coterie of Hollywood elites had undertaken an invidious and utterly successful propaganda campaign and had transmuted the cultural majority into a minority… [temporarily]

But far too many believers embrace the lies of our spiritual enemy, rather than reprove them. What sort of Christian welcomes a false prophet into his living room… they have forsaken the laws of God and embraced idols, the Lord “will feed them, this people, with wormwood [a bitter plant] and give them poisoned water to drink” (Jeremiah 9:13-15) [Hollywood’s influence made possible the passage of s-s-marriage in 2012.]

The Fight for Life, Marriage and Christian Values

The Fight for Life, Marriage and Christian Values
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Wednesday, Jan. 23rd, 2013

The secular and even religious elite have betrayed us. They haven’t spoken out. Obama’s transformation of America includes ‘Our journey is not complete’ until we redefine marriage. Our celebrity president had the gall to say that he was motivated in part by his Christian faith and his belief in the golden rule. Also, arrogantly stating that redefining marriage must be enacted “by [God’s] people here on earth.” Who does he think he is? This letter is in three parts:

Part I: We need a massive use of educational placards for life, marriage and family. Consider the following not only at abortion sites, pro-life marches, but all Catholic and religious events whatever: We are focusing on the low-information voter. I already have some placards of the following: 1) Life is the first inalienable right 2) Abortion hurts women 3) Abortion stops a beating heart! 4) Defund Planned Parenthood 5) Planned Parenthood - the Killing Machine 6) Defend Religious Freedom, Conscience, 1st Amendment to the Constitution, Evil of HHS Mandate 7) Stop Black Racism: 1000 Black Babies are killed each day: 365,000 each year: Stop the Genocide 8) Vote against the Candidates & Issues, that Hollywood & the News Media support, Common Sense 9) Hollywood is the Enemy of the Family 10) Marriage, 1 Dad, 1 Mom, Children 11) Down with Sol Alinsky’s Values!

Part II: LifeSiteNews.com provides us with written info; and EWTN with Pro-Life events this week.

Part III: We share the first five of 20 Resolutions for fighting the gay agenda. LifeSiteNews.com by Peter LaBarbera, http://www.lifesitenews.com/home/print_article/blog/37785/ - Thu Jan 17, 2013

1) Get OFF the defense, and back on offense - (get rid of that false guilt and incapacitating ambivalence: YOU are defending Truth; homosexual activists are promoting immorality, self-deception and lies).

2) Follow God not man (shore up your biblical beliefs) - do you fear God or the reaction of people?

3) “Question Authority”: Don’t trust elites - even conservatives” on the homosexual issue (e.g., Newt Gingrich’s recent capitulation urging a GOP accommodation on “marriage equality”) [See # 9 & 10]

4) Get back to the BEHAVIOR and its consequences (try Googling “MSM [men who have sex with men], CDC [the federal center for Disease Control and Prevention], HIV or MSM, CDC, Syphilis…)

5) Get off the opponents’ playing field: it starts with restoring honest language in the debate. (e.g., counterfeit homosexual “marriage” is not equal to the real deal, so the “gay” term “Marriage Equality” is spurious).

Crusade for Life's President, Beverly Cielnicky

Crusade for Life’s President, Beverly Cielnicky
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013

Excerpts from the Orange County Register, Ca., Sat. Jan. 19/13- A Steadfast Crusader

“Beverly is an unassuming, soft-spoken woman who has spent four decades making her voice resound.

“The sweater-clad, bespectacled 74year-old is a mother, a grandmother, a recreational gardener, a scrap booking hobbyist, and a retired fourth-grade teacher. But she is also the president of Crusade for Life, a grassroots organization opposed to abortion that was first incorporated in 1971, two years before the landmark Supreme Court decision Roe v. Wade.

“Cielnicky has spent 42 years in the movement trying to educate people - mainly young women - about what she views as the atrocities of abortion, and with the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade on Jan. 22, she is as steadfast as ever in her pursuit to outlaw abortions.

“Crusade for Life’s mission is to make abortion illegal in America,” the Fountain Valley resident said, “We believe that as long as we’re killing babies, America wont be blessed. Steeped in Scripture Crusade for Life’s views on abortion fall in line with those of the larger movements- namely, that life begins at conception and that the unborn child has as much right to life as the mother. Cielnicky is unequivocal in her support for the national effort to make abortion illegal.

“Yet, when she speaks about her goal of education and ultimately persuading young women from getting an abortion, as well as her reasoning for doing so, she does it with little of the aggression and fist waving that has often defined the public debate from both sides over the years. She is firm yet compassionate.

“Beverley Cielnicky was born in 1937 in Berkeley. Her family was Christian but did not raise her in an overly religious household. When the time came for college, she chose Berkeley - a place known for churning out liberal activists, not conservative ones. But during that time, she said, she became more devoutly Christian….

“Cielnicky initially became aware of the debate in 1967, when-then California Gov. Ronald Reagan signed the Therapeutic Abortion Act, easing abortion restrictions. She began answering phone for a crisis hotline.

“Then, in the fall of 1971, she went with friends to a Crusade for Life rally in Whittier and met the organization’s founder, Don Smith… Compelled by a religious conviction that life is sacred, as well as the moral imperative of preserving future generations, Cielnicky began working for Crusade for Life. For the next 40-plus years (and counting) she volunteered with the non-profit group, eventually ascending to its presidency.

“Crusade for Life is small. It has not employees, just volunteers. It wasn’t until eight years ago it settled one a permanent location for its headquarters on Tustin Ave. in Orange, Ca. It is a fraction of the size of Planned Parenthood across the street, reflective of Crusade for Life’s sizable financial disadvantage….

“The more you show that’s it human baby, the more people appreciate that it is made in God’s image,” Cielnicky said, citing a 2011 Gallup poll stating that a majority of Americans view abortion as immoral. “If something wrong, it is wrong.”

The Legacy and Recent Words of President Obama

The Legacy & Recent Words of President Obama
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013

Preamble: Obama began four years ago in his Inaugural Address to declare, “an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn-out dogmas that have too long strangled our politics.” What Barack says and what he does are two different things. He sincerely may believe that the dogmas of marriage between a man and woman, and rare abortions are to be discarded.

He accomplished a national health care system without the input of independent, libertarian, conservative or republican Americans. Why? That is the way it is done in Chicago by liberal progressive politicians! As President, he still has this mindset. He is unable to compromise and will demonize the opposition. He has the help of the two-faced, double-standard Obama media which is to America what PRAVDA was to the commie rulers in Stalin’s Russia.

Let’s start with Peggy Noonan’s article in the Wall Street Journal, Saturday/Sunday, Jan. 19-20/2013

Peggy says, “He (Obama) has been spending his time alienating instead of summoning. It has left the political air more sour and estranged. As a presidential style this is something strange and new… It is new and does not augur well… He bristled with unashamed hostility for Republicans on the Hill. They are holding the economy “ransom,” they are using the threat of “crashing the American economy” as a “leverage,” some are “absolutist” while others are “consumed with partisan brinkmanship.” They are holding “a gun at the head of the American people.”…

“If Richard Nixon talked like that, they’d have called him paranoid and self-pitying. Oh wait … Throughout the press conference the president demanded - they’d “better choose quickly” - that Republicans extend the debt ceiling. Pressed by reporters on whether he would negotiate with them to win this outcome, he made it clear he would not. He would have “a conversation.” Bloomberg’s Julianna Goldman asked: “So you technically will negotiate?” “No, Julianna,” he answered. “Either Congress pays its bills or it doesn’t.”… No one has good faith but him. No one is sincere but him. Doesn’t this get boring, even to him?

How has Obama transformed America? - The Wall Street Journal, Thurs. Jan.17/13, Karl Rove:

1) As of his first inaugural, 134,479 million Americans were working and unemployment was 7.3%. Four years later, 134,021 million are working and unemployment is 7.8%

2) In January 2009, 32.2 million people were on food stamps and 13.2% of Americans lived in poverty. Now, 47.5 million receive food stamps and the poverty rate is up to 15%….

3) On Jan. 20, 2009, the national debt stood at $10.627 trillion - or $34,782 for every man, woman and child. As to Tuesday, it had reached $16,435 trillion, or $52,139 for every American…

4) When Obama assumed office, median household income was $51,190. In 2001 (the last year for which data is available), median household income was $50,054.…

5) Last year, an average of 153,000 nonfarm jobs were created each month. At that rate, it will take 26 more months to get back to the number of jobs America had when the recession started in December 2007. Meanwhile the workforce will have expanded by at least 8.6 million new people for whom there are not jobs.

6) It’s worse for manufacturing. Last year, an average of 15,000 manufacturing jobs were created each month. At that rate, it will take nearly ten years to reach the number (13,743,000) of such jobs America had when the recession started….

1 - To Study the Catholic Vote in 2012

1- To Study the Catholic Vote in 2012
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Friday, Jan. 18, 2013

“The admonition. “Be nice to one another”, certainly not to be scorned, but it does not reach the height of the Gospel because it spares us the effort of setting out on the way to truth and so of really coming together.” Pope Benedict XVI, “ Co-Workers of the Truth,” Meditation, Jan .18th.

This is the first in a series of letters on this topic. It would included faithful Catholics, Catholics-in-name only, and almost 10% of the population who are ex-Catholics voters. I hope some historian or sociologist will come up with a book before the 2014 mid-term elections and turn over every rock in the process of pursuing the truth.

The topic is particularly disturbing and scandalous because it seems that so-called Catholics were crucial in electing President Barack Obama with 50% voting for him. What drives me up the wall is that only 20% of the Evangelicals voted for Obama. Does that mean that Evangelicals are at least twice as smart as Catholics when voting for this President? Both witnessed the destructive policies of President Obama for the past four years. Why are Catholics low information voters and afraid of the truth? Here are a few questions to keep in mind in the weeks ahead.

1) In what ways is the U.S. Catholic vote of 2012 similar to the European Catholic vote in Germany and Italy in the 1930s?

2) What role, if any, did the U.S.A. Jesuit Society play in the re-election of Obama in 2012?

3) Did the bishops fail in their role as shepherds in allowing the CINO politician, a promoter of abortion on demand and same-sex marriage to receive Holy Communion? This scandal cries out to heaven and blurs Catholic fundamental beliefs and identity?

The views expressed on this blog are not believed by a majority of Catholics. I went back to the first letter on this blog titled, CINOPS BE GONE, Dedicated to the Exposure and Removal of Catholic in name only Politicians. St. Thomas More is our Model and Patron. The first letter was, The American Catholic Voter # 1, Monday, May 14th, 2007. I have failed to persuade. Here is an example criticism of an old one (2003) and a new one, Down with Indoctrination, Jan. 14th, 2013.

1) Your propaganda piece to elect a Republican governor. 9/15/2003:

Dear Mr. Kubeck, “Obviously you thought Jesus was talking about someone else when he railed against hypocrites and Pharisees. Your thinly veiled at attempt to cloak your electioneering as an effort to save children is not acceptable when you and your accomplices have succeeded in installing someone in the White House who has no regard for human life least of all children.

“When you look at the pictures of little children with their hands blown off by cluster bombs because they thought they were toys, these were people Jesus was talking about. That 5th commandment you are so concerned about - all the children who have been killed in bombings were covered by it, as were the parents who were killed leaving children orphans.

“I pray for peace often every day and for all the children in this country as well as the rest of the world who live substandard lives because of the actions of people like you. You’re not pro life - you’re pro Republican and to use the Blessed Virgin to help in your tactics is evil. I stay in the Catholic Church and have for 80 years, not because of people like you, but in spite of you. And I trust God to see through your mean spirited actions and save the world in spite of all the people like you. And one final reminder, there are 9 other commandments you need to be concerned about.”

2) Response to Thomas Sowell’s article, Down with Indoctrination, cinops be gone, Mon. Jan. 14/13

Boy, now Sowell is sounding like just another paranoid, whiny victim - lots of complaints, no examples. When did the right-wing pundits become such crybaby loser victims? I remember when guys like Kemp and Buckley actually had ideas! Boo-hoo! The evil god-less liberals are picking on us, whine, whine, whine… No thank you. The liberals might be godless and stupid, but the whiny right is intellectually bankrupt too, and a bunch of whiny crybabies. A Pox on both their houses. Are you planning on moving to Glen Beck’s commune?

Is Marriage a Winning Issue?

Is Marriage A Winning Issue?

In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013

From the “National Organization for Marriage” (NOM) 11/20/12, Brian Brown, President, Frank Schubert, National Political Director

The results the 2012 Election were extremely disappointing on many levels, not the least because of voter approval of same-sex marriages in Maine, Maryland and Washington, and voter rejection of a proposed amendment to the Minnesota constitution defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman….[I read that the Mormons sadly were not involved in these four elections.]

To understand if marriage is a winning issue, let’s compare how we performed compared to the Republican ticket in these four states:

In Maine, our campaign captured 47.4% of the vote, while Governor Romney received 41.2%. We lost by 36,000 out of over 700,00 votes that were cast. If 18,000 people had voted differently, we would have won.
In Minnesota, our campaign got 48.1% of the vote while Governor Romney captured 36.4%.

We lost by 106,000 votes out of 2.9 million cast.

In Maryland, our campaign captured 48.1% of the vote while Governor Romney captured 36.4%. We lost by 94,00 votes out of more than 2.4 million cast.
In Washington State, the ballots are still being counted (which is an all-mail ballot state) but we presently have 48.0% of the vote. Governor Romney received 42.7% of the vote. We trail by 83,000 votes out of the more than 2.1 million counted thus far.

On the average, marriage out-polled the Republican ticket by 6.6% Based on the popular vote in the presidential contest, had this been a national election on marriage we would have won such an election with 55% of the vote….

A strong case can be made that candidates who embrace same-sex marriage are vulnerable to defeat…. In 2011, seven state New York Senators changed their votes and abandoned their constituents to vote in favor of gay marriage. Five of those Senators are no longer in office in large part to election efforts mounted by NOM. We replaced the disgraced Car Kruger (removed from office in a corruption scandal) with a pro-marriage candidate. We forced Senator James Alesi to retire, and helped elect a pro-marriage replacement. We defeated Democratic Senator Shirley Huntley and elected a pro-marriage replacement, Kathy Marchione. And we defeated thirty-year incumbent Senator Stephen Saland, and accomplishment the political class felt impossible….

Moreover, a national post-election survey conducted on election day by Kellyanne Conway’s respected firm “the polling company, inc.” showed that 60% of American voters agree that “marriage is between one man and one woman,” while only 34% disagree. This finding is consistent with a national the same firm’s voter survey conducted in September 2012 which found 57% of Americans supported “defining marriage only as union of one man and one woman,” while just 37% opposed such a definition of marriage. [Lack of money was a key factor in losing.]

We were outspent by $6.6 million in Minnesota ($11.2 million to $4.6 million)
We were outspent by over $3.6 million in Maine ($5.0 million to 1.4 million)
We were outspent by $2.8 million in Maryland ($4.5 million to $1.7 million)
We were outspent by over $9.5 million in Washington ($12.2 million to $2.7 million)

If marriage is worth defending, then people of faith are going to need to step up help fund the cause.

George H. Kubeck, I hope the Supreme Court will decide that same-sex marriage is unconstitutional. Traditional marriage is a necessary part of any conservative/republican election agenda. It is in Texas. It must be in Calif.

How Academia Dismantled Our Culture

How Academia Dismantled Our Culture
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2012

Selected excerpts from the book by David Gelernter, “America-Lite: How Imperial Academia Dismantled Our Culture” in the issue of “First Things” - February, 2013

“At first sight, David Gelernter’s book tells the same story as Roger Kimball’s, “Tenured Radicals.” Students have never “heard anything good about Western Civilization, America, Judaism, Christianity, white, males.” Their teachers sneer at patriotism and deride religious faith. “In modern America, the left gets its way not by convincing people but by indoctrinating their children.”….

“Yes, higher education holds firmly and righteously to the left-liberal ideology, but the education of students in it is a superficial affair. Yes, young Americans experience a system that peddles left-liberalism as truth and justice, the only fitting and proper way to think and believe. But four years of instruction in theories of sexuality, race, gender, social justice, and American power haven’t made them into active and informed partisans.
“It has made them thoughtlessly partisan, complacently accepting liberal notions in spite of one contrary fact after another (interest rates under Carter, the collapse of communism, the hazards of single parenting, etc.).

“Professors don’t so much teach left-liberal ideas as assume them and have students do the same. Higher education has not produced committed radicals ready to spout Marx, collect historical evidence, and craft vigorous arguments against capitalism, patriotism, religion, and family. It has produced blithe adults who imbibe the left-liberal cocktail and go about their business.
“The first generation of professor-intellectuals learned from their elders’ cultural traditions and historical knowledge , which they then denounced. But when it came time for them to be elders, they skipped the traditions and went straight into denunciation, though in casual, watery form.

“Their students don’t think hard and long about slavery, Hiroshima, and Vietnam - they just know that the U.S. is guilty. They don’t inquire deeply into Christianity - they just know that it oppresses women….
“No one, Gelernter argues, embodies the “Airhead generation” and the “PORGIs” (“post-religious globalist intellectuals”) better than Barack Obama, a man who grew up in a whirlwind of locales, attended elite colleges, and now speaks in passionate but largely hollow terms about justice, equality, and community. “All former leftist movements were driven by ideology,” Gelernter says, “but “Obama’s is driven by ignorance.”

“Paradoxically, however, the superficiality of left-liberal learning makes it more effective. If too many students came out of college outspokenly ideological, outsiders would object. The softer version allows them to overlook it. Many people acknowledge the tendentious, extremist, or downright crackpot quality of the professoriate, but they believe that most students roll their eyes at the wacky ideas and stilted jargon, play the game, get their grades, and move on to sensible things.
“True, Gelernter agrees, but only in part. Enough left-liberalism survives as attitude and assumption among graduates for to wreak havoc upon American society. [Look what happened in the 2012 Presidential elections.] The instruction lives on as reflexive notions, not discursive thoughts. Instead of being a dynamic site of revolutionary change, the campus is a hidebound setting where stale and discredited ideas endure.

“The situation is too settled and intractable for Gelernter to offer any other prescription than withdrawal. The university belongs to the left-liberals, [No!) and instead of trying to take the campus away from them, we should take away from them our children’s learning.
“Focus on internet education!” he urges, promoting the “neutral or mildly right-leaning” instruction provided by numerous online elementary schools and colleges. If we patronize them, the older American traditions will not only influence our children, they will triumph, he concluded….”

Down with Indoctrination

Down with Indoctrination!
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Monday, Jan. 14, 2013

By Thomas Sowell, Orange County Register, Wed. Jan. 9, 2013
Educating for ‘Change’ - Schools should impart knowledge without indoctrinating the young.

“Many years ago as a young man, I read a very interesting book about the rise of the Communists to power in China. In the last chapter, the author tried to explain why and how this happened.

“Among the factors he cited were the country’s educators. That struck me as odd, and not very plausible, at the time. But the passing years have made that seem less and less odd, and more and more plausible. Today, I see our educators playing a similar role in creating a mindset that undermines American society.

“Schools were once thought of as places where a society’s knowledge and experience were passed on to the younger generation. But, about a hundred years ago, Professor John Dewey of Columbia University came up with a very different conception of education - one that has spread through American schools of education, and even influenced education in countries overseas.

“John Dewey saw the role of the teacher, not as a transmitter of a society’s culture to the young, but as an agent of change - someone strategically placed, with an opportunity to condition students to want a different kind of society.

“A century later, we are seeing schools across America indoctrinating students to believe in all sorts of politically correct notions. The history that is taught in too many of our schools is a history that emphasizes everything that has gone bad, or can be made to look bad, in America - and that gives little, if any, attention to the great achievements of this country.

“That book has sold millions of copies, poisoning the minds of million of students in schools and colleges against their own country. But this book is one of many things that enable teachers to think of themselves as “agents of change,” without having the slightest accountability for whether that change turns out to be for the better or for the worse - or, indeed, utterly catastrophic….

“Meanwhile, all sorts of fictitious virtues are attributed to non-Western societies, and their worse crimes are often passed over in silence, or at least shrugged off by saying some such thing as “Who are we to judge?”

“Even is the face of mortal dangers, political correctness forbids us to use words like “terrorist” when the approved euphemism is “militant.” Milder terms such as “illegal alien” likewise cannot pass the political correctness test, so it must be replaced by another euphemism, “undocumented worker.”

“Some think that we must tip-toe around in our own country, lest some foreigners living here or visiting here be offended by the sight of an American flag or a Christmas tree in some institutions….

“American schools today are similarly undermining American society as one unworthy of defending, either domestically or internationally. If there were nuclear attacks on American cities, how long would it take for us to surrender, even if we had nuclear superiority - but were not as willing to die as our enemies were?”

George H. Kubeck, What we have is an elitist progressive philosophy subversively attempting to replace traditional American values, the principles of our Founding Fathers and the Constitution. Tomorrow, we will have excerpts from David Gelernter’s book, “American-Lite: How Imperial Academia Dismantled Our Culture ( and Ushered in the Obamacrats.)” [And we have the CINOP selling his soul for this hogwash.]

God in Human Language

God in Human Language
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013

By Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director, Priests for Life

Christmas is God in Human Language

It is about a God who, in loving us, knows how to speak to us

The Letter to the Hebrews says, “In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but these last days he has spoken to by his Son” (Heb. 1:1-2).

Christmas is a revelation, manifestation, showing what was hidden. The Advent cry, “Open up, ye heavens from above!”, expresses the human need for meaning, and for the answers to basic questions: Why are we here? What is this life all about? Where are we going? Is there life after death? How are we supposed to live? Does God exist, and if so, is he a friend or foe? How does he want to be worshipped?

All the philosophers of history, though coming to a certain conclusions correctly through human reason (which though wounded by sin, is not destroyed) nevertheless could not reach the full answers to all these questions. God needed to speak, and he needed to speak in human language.

So the Son who reveals the Father, has come, and Christmas celebrates that coming. Continuing that passage from Hebrews, which is used by the Church for Christmas Day Mass, we read, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being” (v.3)

So, thanks to Christmas, we know who God is, what life is about, what God expects us to do, and what awaits us beyond the grave. We know how to obtain eternal life. We have found what the human heart has always sought. St. John writes, “After this I looked and there before me was a door standing open in heaven” (Revelation 4:1). Christmas opens the door and shows us God in human language!

Christmas destroys the “tyranny of relativism,” the confusion of indifferentism, the idea that each person can create his own morality, or that one religion is as good as the next. As we welcome the birth of this child, we welcome the one who will preach the Sermon on the Mount, instruct us by parables, and establish his Church to continue making his teachings clear.

To welcome the Divine Child today is to welcome all that he will do and teach, the easy and the difficult, the comforting and the challenging, without considering ourselves authorized to pick and choose among those teachings.

It makes no sense to welcome the child but reject his teachings. It is inconsistent to prepare for and celebrate Christmas but refuse to accept the fullness of the Gospel that this child proclaimed.

That Gospel has taught from the beginning that life must be protected, including life in the womb. There can be no such thing as a “pro-choice Christian.” A rejection of even a single life is a rejection of Christ himself.

This Advent and Christmas, let us welcome Christ and all that he teaches, and all whom he loves.

1- Co-Workers of the Truth Fellowship
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013

It is good that pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-family advocates can meet at least once monthly. Mark your calendar for this Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, 9-10:15 A.M. at Chick-Fil-A at the Long Beach Shopping Center, corner of 605 Freeway and Carson Street in Long Beach, Calif.

“We are afraid that the good that is in the world will become completely powerless; that eventually it will no longer be meaningful to seek the good in truth, purity, justice, or love because the law of the sharper elbow is now the only law that prevails in the world, because the tendency of the world is to judge in favor of the violent, the brutal, not the saintly. For we see it: what rules the world now is money, the atom bomb, the cynicism of those to whom nothing is sacred.” 12th, 1977, Benedict XVI.

Today, we have the values and culture of Hollywood promoted with loads of money. Add to this, we have a two-faced double-standard News media. Their enemy is also the family. Also never again will we have a 50% Catholic vote for the most adamant pro-abortionist - same-sex marriage type of President; when only 20% of Evangelicals voted for him. Why? Are we becoming like European Catholics who were duped/stupid to vote for the 1930’s demagogues in Italy & Germany?

We are grateful to Michael Novak, a member of First Things’ advisory council who will give us a background to what we face in America today. Reference First Things - February 2013 issue.

“At present, there is no realistic check on the appetite of progressive government (even on ‘compassionate conservative’ govern.) for greater tax revenues and the racking up of greater debt. Worse, these debts are without remorse laid upon the backs of future generations. They are now laid up to a Greece-like breaking point. That alone could destroy our republic. From within. Legally.

“At present, there is no practical break on a court system (and a system of law schools) that believes itself no longer bound to the foundational principles of the Constitution but only to the current ideas of “progressivism.” …

“To my mind, however the greatest of our national weaknesses lies now in the decadence of our moral and cultural institutions. Look at our mainline churches, once the bedrock of the nation’s moral solidity and depth. Look at our university faculties. Seldom has so much illusion been packed into the pride of self-superior souls.

“Our founders well understood that our sort of republic cannot stand without a foundation in morality - and religion. As both Washington and Benjamin Rush put it in different ways, the framers held quite firmly, from long experience, that our republic cannot stand without liberty; nor can liberty without virtue (for most people) without religion. (That is without religion of the type that favors and under girds human liberty. Not all religious are of that type.)

“The price of liberty, our founders often said, is eternal vigilance. The ideas on which liberty precariously rests need to be passed along from generation to generation. If they are ever forgotten or minimized, even by one generation, turn out the lights…

“Yet I am still hopeful… In my view, to put it in the words of Joseph Warren, member of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress, “our country is in danger, but not to be despaired of.” Everywhere we see the small beginnings of a drive for a “return to the Constitution” and a growing number of thinkers who are supplying fresh arguments for “revolving to first principles,” a policy that the founders advised for every generation.

“Strong Catholic minds are offering a fresh articulation of the American founding principles in the new and richer context of the Catholic intellectual tradition. Tocqueville famously hinted at this possibility: that one day Catholics would become the best intellectual defenders of the American way of understanding natural rights.”

George H. Kubeck, I believe the 80% Evangelicals who voted against Obama wish Catholics success.

A Witness at the FPA Abortion Facility in L.B.

A Witness at the FPA Abortion Facility in L.B.
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Friday, Jan. 11, 2013

By Diane Caldera: The Knights of Columbus* at St. Irenaeus Church, Cypress, CA., have a weekly outreach to people going into or walking by the Family Planning Association (FPA) abortion mill on 2777 Long Beach Blvd. across from the Long Beach Memorial Hospital.

When I can go along with them, I take my shocking pink and white sign with me. www.AbortionBreastCancer.com When there is no foot traffic, I hold the sign up for cars traversing the street. When pedestrians approach, I show them my sign and ask if they would take some info.

Most are curious, wondering, “What does abortion have to do with breast cancer?” I hand them a little leaflet with the image of a 2 and one-half inch perfectly formed baby 12 weeks after conception. I ask them, “Does that look like a human being to you?” They always say, “Yes, of course.” Then I tell them that 4,000 babies like this one are getting sliced and diced everyday in America and have been since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.

I add that abortion is not good for women either, because it causes breast cancer four ways (the leaflet refers to the above website for details on this.) It also predisposes women to premature birth of future “wanted” children - a tragedy for the child, who is at high risk for cerebral palsy, blindness, mental deficiency, and many other serious conditions, and for the mother, whose premature birth increases her risk again for breast cancer (ibid.)

People are shocked to learn that, contrary to the myth, abortion is far more dangerous than childbirth. (http://after abortion.org/2012/higher-death-rates-after-abortion-found-in-u-s-finland-and-denmark/)! And there is a scandalous cover up of these facts!
(http://www.you tube.com/watch?v=Dsmma0COO1E&feature=player embedded)

If they linger, I go on to explain that abortifacient birth control is also cancer-causing (AbortionBreastCancer.org, ibid), and that all American employers are now forced to pay for cancer-causing abortifacients: the pill, patch, shot, IUD, and ring, the Morning After Pill, RU486, and Ella (jhttp://www.bcinstitute.org/pill kills brochures.htm) through the nationalized insurance we just voted for in November.

They are forced even if it goes against their consciences to do so! So we start talking about the First Amendment right to freedom of conscience and of religion that America has always supported in the past. (at Valley Forge, Mennonites and Quakers were not coerced into taking up arms against the British, although our country’s situation was grim), so why coerce now?

There is also a legal case based on health arguments against mandatory contraceptives. http://www.lldf.org/in-the-public-square.brief-argues-mandatory-contraceptives-endanger-women-health/. To top it all, I tell them about the 2009 study that shows that women under 18 who take birth control pills are three to four times the risk for TNBC, Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, the most aggressive and hard-to-treat form of breast cancer associated with more deaths at younger ages.

http://breastcancer.about.com/b/2010/01/08/abortion-birth-control-pills.htm, and that teenagers less than age 18 who have abortions between 9 and 24 weeks have an 800% increased risk of breast cancer, or a relative risk of 9.0 (times more risk!!!), according to a National Cancer Institute-commissioned study, Daling et al. 1994. (www.AbortionBreastCancer.com, ibid.)

Most of the people I talk to are greatly interested to discover this information and accept the literature. Some ask about chastity resources, so I refer them to www.chastity.com. If they are interested, I also give them a Divine Mercy prayer card. Often they smile as they leave. I smile back.

Common Sense after a Close Election

Common Sense After a Close Election
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013

Preface: Tom McClintock is a fiscal conservative Congressman. He lost the Republican primary to Schwarzenegger. Otherwise he could have been elected Governor years ago. Here are some classic significant excerpts of his insightful talk given Nov. 17, 2013 at Calif. Federation of Rep. Women.

A. We need to recognize that a large proportion of our population is not familiar with the self-evident truths of the American Founding and has no compass with which to follow back to the prosperity, happiness and fulfillment that is the hallmark of a free society… Great parties are built upon great principles, and they are judged by their devotion to those principles.

B. For the first time in our history, young people face a bleaker future than their parents enjoyed. We need to appeal to them. The very groups of voters most damaged by Obama’s policies are those who voted for Obama - we need to appeal to them. Not in the closing days of a campaign poisoned with partisanship - but right now.

1) First, the same election that returned Obama to the White House also returned the second largest House Republican majority since World War II - bigger than anything Newt Gingrich ever had.

2) Second, according to polls before, during and after this election, the American people agree with us fundamentally on issues involving the economy, Obamacare, government spending, bailouts, …

3) Third, the American people are about to get graduate level course in Obamanomics, and at the end of that course, they are going to be a lot sadder and a lot wiser.

4) Have we forgotten that just two years ago, Republicans [with Tea Party] campaigned on clear principles of individual liberty & constitutionally limited government… a net gain of 63 U.S. House seats, six U.S. Senate seats, 19 state legislatures, six governors &nearly 700 state legislative seats? [This group of Americans that passed according to Time Magazine 90 restrictions on abortions.]

5) It is true that Latino voters are a growing part of the American electorate - making up 10% of the vote in 2012, of which 71% voted for Barack Obama, according to the CBS exit poll….

6) Citing research from the Pew Institute … the wave of illegal immigration has now crested and may actually be reversing… noted that every immigration wave has followed this pattern. Those who stay become more and more assimilated and more and more Republican as the years go by…

7) It is true that 5 % said that the most important issue in their vote for President was their pro-choice/pro-abortion position. 5% of the entire electorate is nothing to sneeze at. But 4% of the voters said in casting their vote for President was their pro-life/anti-abortion position… a statistical tie.

8) The voters who appeared at the polls agree with us on Obamacare. According to the CBS exit poll, by a plurality of 49 to 41 %, they want to repeal some or all of Obamacare… By a margin of 51 to 43 %, they believe that government is “doing too much things better left to businesses and individuals.”… By a resounding margin of 63 to 33%, they disagreed with the statement that “taxes should be raised to help cut the deficit.” … 52% voters agreed “things in this country today are seriously off on the wrong track.”…

9) The single biggest political movement in 2009 and 2010 was the much maligned, politically incorrect Tea Party … The Tea Party energized fully one third of the American electorate; 60% were Republicans, 20% independents and 20% Democrats. [The Tea Party will be active in 1214.]

Is America Exceptional?

Is America Exceptional?
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Monday, Jan. 7, 2013

We have excerpts from an insightful speech given by Norman Podhoretz delivered Sept. 12, 2012 at the Hillsdale College, and posted in IMPRIS, Oct. 2012, Vol. 41, Number 10.

First of all, unlike all other nations past or present, this one accepted as a self-evident truth that all men are created equal. What is meant was that its Founders aimed to create a society in which, for the first time in the history of the world, the individual’s fate would be determined not by who his father was, but by his own freely chosen pursuit of his own ambition…

Secondly, in all other countries membership or citizenship was a matter of birth, of blood, of lineage, or rootedness in the soil. Thus foreigners who were admitted for one reason or another could never become full-fledged members of the society. But America was the incarnation of an idea, and therefore no such factors came into play. To become a full-fledged American, it was only necessary to pledge allegiance to the new Republic and to the principles for which it stood.

Thirdly, in all other nations, the rights, if any, enjoyed by their citizens were conferred by human agencies: … In America, by contrast, the citizen’s rights were declared from the beginning to have come from God and to be “inalienable” - that is immune to legitimate revocation…

We have excelled by following our Founding Fathers in directing our energies, as our Constitution exhorts us to do, to the preservation of the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, as well as to the pursuit of happiness tacitly understood by the Declaration of Independence to require prosperity as a precondition. (In his original draft of the Declaration, of course, Jefferson used the word “property” instead of “pursuit of happiness.”) …

So far as liberty is concerned, until recently no one but libertarian have been arguing that we were insufficiently free in the United States… Judging by what they say and the policies they pursue modern liberals are not all that concerned about liberty. What they really care about, and what they assign a higher value to, is economic equality( as reflected in the now famous phrase, “spread the wealth around”)…

Yet after surveying the numbers, the economist Walter Williams of George Mason University asks an excellent question: “What standard of fairness dictates that the top ten percent of income earners pay 71 percent of the federal income tax burden while 47% percent of Americans pay absolutely nothing?” … The petering out of the Occupy Wall Street movement has recently confirmed, what Tocqueville observed on this point in the 1830s remains true today, Americans, unlike Europeans, he wrote, “do not hate the higher classes of society” even if “they are not favorable inclined toward them…”…

With all exceptions duly noted, I think it is fair to say that what liberals mainly see when they look at America today is injustice and oppression crying out for redress. By sharp contrast, conservatives see a complex of traditions and institutions built upon the principles that animated the American Revolution and have made it possible … for more freedom and more prosperity to be enjoyed by more of its citizens than in any other society in human history…

Consider the many apologies President Obama has issued for misdeeds of which he imagines Americans have been guilty in our relations with other countries in general and Muslim world in particular. Never mind that the U.S. has spilled blood and treasure to liberate and protect many millions of people from the totalitarian horrors first of Nazism and then of Communism…

The liberal community seems to think that the rest of the world would be better off without the United States… but most conservatives do not believe that a radical diminution of American power and influence would be good for us or for the world….

George H. Kubeck - The reelection of Obama was a tragedy and our country will experience it.

Ted Cruz Wins US Senate Seat in Texas

Ted Cruz Wins US Senate Seat in Texas
In pursuit of the truth - cinops be gone - Sunday, Jan. 6th, 2013

Preface: How fortunate the citizens of Texas are in having a Republican Party that respects and works directly with pro-life, pro-marriage and pro-family citizens. And that includes all who are also associated with the Tea Party Patriots which well-informed Catholics are also members.

Texas is a state that has about the same make-up of citizens like California. They passed the Parental Notification law to inform parents of a minor’s abortion years ago. (about 60%) They also have laws protecting the unborn and de-funding of Planned Parenthood. Thanks to the CINOP (Catholic-in-name-only politician) we failed to pass California’s Parental Notification at least twice. Texas is a Right to Work State. We in California failed to pass Proposition 32 which would have protected an individual’s choice to contribute monies for political agendas.

Proposition 32 is about: you pay for your political and social agenda and I will pay for mine. But don’t force me to pay for yours as condition for my employment. Well in California you are required to pay the union dues. You can’t decide. The union bosses know what is best for you. Recall the teacher unions forcing their members with their money contributions to defeat Proposition 8 - Marriage between a man and woman in California.

As a retired public school teacher this is an insult to the teaching profession which is supposed to be independent-minded. Well thanks to the union teacher Rodda Act of 1975 signed by CINOP Governor Brown we have a politicized leftist social engineering teaching profession in California. This is a tragedy for our children’s education. We are also stuck with two pro-abort, gay-sex marriage Senators Feinstein and Boxer. Thanks to the CINOP, like Beccerra and others.

Breadth of Fresh Air Report: Think about it. Senator Fred Cruz beat his Democratic opponent Paul Sadler 57% to 40%. Could you imagine this happening in California? Fred Cruz had to win the Republican primary. He ran against a well known and established Republican. He was 11 points behind and in the runoff beat him by 14 points. Why?

Let’s get to some excerpts from the newsletter of the Leadership Institute V. 19, No. 8 Winter/12 - www.leadershipinstitute.org - 1101 North Highland St., Arlington, Virginia 22201

“Cruz served as a leadership Institute volunteer faculty member. He hired LI alumni to help in his campaign… Tea Party-backed Cruz won the endorsement of individuals like Senators Jim Demint and Rand Paul, former Senator Rick Santorium, Congressman Ron Paul, and former Governor Sarah Palin…

“Cruz chose Leadership Institute graduate Nick Dyer as his Youth Coordinator, whose job was to identify and organize conservative leaders on campuses throughout the state. “ I worked with them to facilitate projects that I learned about in LI’s Youth Leadership School. We built a network of volunteers that were integral to the success of the campaign,” said Dyer… “LI’s training has given me an invaluable foundation for political action. Whether it is techniques for Get Out The Vote, messaging, volunteer recruitment, or youth outreach, I use something I have learned from LI every day… We recruited, activated, and motivated thousands of volunteer.”…

“Leadership Institute faculty member Vincent Harris managed Cruz’s digital strategy and online presence… “The Cruz campaign ran the most integrated statewide digital strategy in the history of American politics.”… article written by Shane Seegers.

George H. Kubeck, I hope the above can happen in California. It is also a false idea to parrot that same-sex marriage is a conservative or Republican idea.

By a Danish bank executive on LI-organized speaking tour
Newsletter of the Leadership Institute, Vol. XIX - No. 19 - Winter/13 - www.leadershipinstitute.org

Saxo Bank CEO Lars Seier Christensen speaks to students at Liberty University about the dangers of socialism. As Shakespeare wrote, something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

“Many who are fighting socialism in the United States, very frankly, don’t have a clear or systematic understanding of what socialism actually does to a country.” With these words, Morton Blackwell, president of the Leadership Institute, launched a week-long speaking tour and introduced Lars Seier Christensen to an audAb to hear vivid, first-hand illustration of socialist policies and their effects in Denmark.

Dane warns Americans about socialist danger: Christensen, founder and co-CEO of Saxo Bank in Denmark, embarked on a five-day speaking and media tour October 15-19 organized by the Leadership Institute across three states and Washington, D.C. The tour included lectures at the University of North Carolina, Liberty University, and the Heritage Foundation, and several interviews, including the Wall Street Journal, Fox Business News, and Glenn Beck TV.

…“America stands at a crossroads between capitalism and prosperity or European-style socialism and economic decline. Mr. Christensen’s message could neither be more timely nor more important.”

Denmark: people addicted to handouts: Christensen used his homeland of Denmark to teach what America will become if its current course is not changed. Since Denmark is so far down the road of socialism, it is almost impossible to change the hearts and minds of its citizens who are addicted to government handouts and entitlements.

To pay for these handouts, the government levies a tax burden on each middle-class citizen of 80-85%. This rate is higher than in Cuba or other dictatorships. With a political spectrum further to the left than the US, only one party in Denmark can be considered opposed to socialism, and its push for lower taxes, limited government, and reduced public sector expenditures now garners only 5% of the vote. The conservative message is marginalized and distrusted because of its association with capitalism. Most Danes believe private sector financial success can only be achieved at the expense of others or by bending or breaking the law. Socialist create the illusion of tax reform by shifting the money from one pocket to the other.

Socialism destroys the will to work, and the state sponsors it: Christensen shared with his audience an example of the outrageous state-sponsored abuse of entitlements. In Denmark, a dispute arose between two politician. The socialist argued for more entitlements to help the “poor.” The conservative challenged the socialist to find a poor person in Denmark. The best example the socialist could find was a woman, late called “Carina the Pauper” by the media. Carina, a 36-year old able-bodied woman who never worked a day in her life, receives a $2,600-a-month government stipend. After expenses of housing, utilities, internet, big-screen cable TV, pet food, cigarettes, and her son’s soccer lessons, she is still left with $1,000 per month. Many Danish citizens were shocked to learn about Carina, who appeared ungrateful even after receiving more income from tax-derived handouts than the working class earns.

Snoopers for the nanny state: To maintain this welfare state, the government has set up telephone hotlines for citizens to report neighbors who many be cheating the social welfare programs or not paying their taxes properly. The Danish tax authorities can walk into a person’s home on suspicion, whereas permission to search for a suspected terrorist is much more difficult.

Lars Christensen’s lectures opened the eyes of many thousands of students and citizens. Americans would do well to heed Christensen as a prophet who has seen the future of socialism and how a country is dragged down when the incentives to work and produce are destroyed.

George H. Kubeck- Obama’s policies will become today’s Denmark in America.
