The Case against “Catholics United” # 3

The truth hurts: Be not afraid: The truth will set you free from evil.
We continue with the article by Amy Sullivan. Dated Sat. Oct. 18, 2008 titled, How Catholics Are Judging Obama and the Democrats. My Comments:
(In the last paragraph, I will blow the whistle on C.U. and ask them to apologize for their fraudulent advertisements to the Catholic American people.)
Let’s go to Ohio and note that CINOP Congressmen Dennis Kucinich and Tim Ryan voted against the Catholic position on 1. Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act-passage (110th) and 2. Marriage Amendment Act (109th).
The 4 Catholic Republicans, Boehner, Chabot, Schmidt and Tiberi voted for the common good on these two positions.
Archbishop Chaput directly addresses the arguments made by Catholic supporters of Obama, including Prof. Doug Kmiec from two public statements, the latest titled “Little Murders.”
…who have done a disservice to the Church, confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn.
GOD BLESS ARCHBISHOP CHAPUT, A TRUE SHEPHERD: AN EXEMPLAR OF POPE JOHN PAUL II.
Now let me go to another disservice to the Church done by Jesuit-Affiliated Santa Clara University and weep when reading this story from LifeSiteNews.com, Santa Clara, CA, October 20, 2008:
Jesuit-Affiliated Santa Clara Law to Honor Pro-Abortion Clinton Chief of Staff
At a celebration tomorrow evening, Oct. 21, Santa Clara School of Law, a Catholic Jesuit affiliated school, will bestow its Justice and Human Rights Award upon … Leon Panetta, who serves on the University’s board of trustees. The award will be presented at the University’s fifth annual “Diversity Gala: A Celebration of Diversity in the Legal Profession.
Leon Panetta’s terms as a US Congressman were stained by his pro-abortion voting record. He co-sponsored the dangerous Freedom of Choice Act in 1990.
During his tenure as White House Chief of Staff from 1994 to 1997, Panetta defended President Bill Clinton’s veto of H.R. 1833, the partial-birth abortion ban.
LifeNews: George Soros Funds Catholic Groups Making Obama Seem Pro-life on Abortion: Catholic Groups Corrupted, by George (FRC Action Update, 10-13-08)
It seems odd that a handful of Catholic organizations are supporting a pro-abortion candidate like Barack Obama, Catholic League President Bill Donohue said we need only to look at their list of contributors. In a surprising twist, it seems liberal financier George Soros has been pouring money into Catholic groups that are painting Obama in a favorable pro-life light. ACCORDING TO IRS RECORDS, BOTH CATHOLICS UNITED AND CATHOLICS IN ALLIANCE HAVE BENEFIT BY TENS OF THOUSANDS FROM THE UNLIKELY PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MOVE.ORG FOUNDER. Donahue who exposed the link, said, “The reason Soros funds the Catholic left is … {because} they all serve his agenda … to make support for abortion rights a respectable Catholic position.”

Justice is Truth in action!
We continue with this morning’s article by Amy Sullivan, How Catholics Are Judging Obama and the Democrats. p. 3
Obama has also benefited from the resurgence of progressive Catholics. The Catholic Left used to be a vigorous social and political presence… But by the time Kerry ran in 2004, there were very few Catholic voices echoing his insistence that Church teaching addressed more than just abortion or pushing back against suggestions that he and other pro-choice Catholics should be denied communion.
This void, and Kerry’s defeat, prompted a group of progressive Catholics to create their own infrastructure after 2004. When two young graduate students first launched Catholics United, they had $1,000 in seed money and were operating out of a dorm room. Four years later, the nonpartisan organization has more than 30,000 members and a $200,000 budget. This month they are sending a direct mail piece titled “What Does Being Pro-Life Really Mean?” to 50,000 Catholic households in Pennsylvania and Ohio. (promoting pro-choice candidates) The same message is plastered across billboards in heavily Catholic swing states. p. 3
+++++++
(Now, let’s take the vote of 9 pro-choice Catholic Democrat politicians, Altmire, Brady, Carney, Doyle, Holden, Kanjorski, Murphy Patrick, Murtha, and Sestak. They voted against the Catholic position on 1. Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act-passage (110th) House of Representatives Voting Record. The two Catholic- label Republican politicians English, and Murphy Timothy voted for the Catholic position. The 9 Democrats have now added another absolute evil to their names.
This kind of stem-cell research is one of the five absolute evils that are involved in this election campaign. The others are abortion, assisted-suicide, and euthanasia and same-sex marriage. And in your campaign advertisement “What Does Being Pro-Life Mean? you are mixing poisoned apples with oranges. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING! The oranges are prudential issues upon which serious Catholics and other Christians can disagree upon like, immigration reform, opposing the use of torture, focus more on the poor, education, health care and the war in Iraq. On the other hand, there is ALWAYS A NO on poisoned apples.
THE TRUTH IS THAT THE POISONED APPLES ARE DIRECTLY & INDIRECTLY PART AND PARCEL OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC PARTY AGENDA.
THE PRUDENTIAL ENDS ARE GREAT BUT THEY DO NOT JUSTIFY MIXING POISONED APPLES WITH ORANGES MEANS TO ACHIEVE THEM.
All of this is not fair and dishonest in “Catholics United” advertising campaign.
The Catholic goal in America is to vote out of office all of these pro-choice, CATHOLIC-IN-NAME-ONLY (CINOP) politicians. Let’s stop pretending that they are truly authentic and Catholic. Marriage is a life and death issue in this election. THE MARRIAGE AMENDMENT SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE BALLOT IN MASSACHUSETTS. YET PRO-CHOICE NANCY PELOSI CAME INTO TOWN AND BLOCKED IT. IT WOULD HURT THE DEMOCRATIC PESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE. SENATORS TED KENNEDY AND JOHN KERRY WERE SILENT.)

Time in Partnership with CNN has an article by Amy Sullivan, dated Sat., Oct. 18, 2008 titled, How Catholics Are Judging Obama and the Democrats. The author believes that at this year’s Al Smith Dinner, Obama’s presence on the dais at the Waldorf-Astoria is just a sign that this may be the Democrats’ best year for Catholic support in decades…. p. 1 of 4 pages.
They are the largest single constituency in the electorate (33 million voted in 2004) and have aligned themselves with the winner in every presidential election going back to 1960, with the exception of 2000. … 1
{In the year 2000, Al Gore won more Catholic votes than George Bush but in Florida he won with a large majority of the Catholic votes, thanks to the effort of many in the pro-life movement especially, Priests for Life.}
By 1984, … Reagan attended alone (The Al Smith Dinner), and, on Election Day, captured 61% of Catholic voters, the largest share that any Republican presidential candidate had ever earned. No GOP candidate has matched it since….
{In 2004, Bush won about 52% of the Catholic vote.}
In a hierarchical tradition like Catholicism, debates don’t happen very often. Right now, however, American Catholics are going through a revival of the arguments that took place in the 1980’s between bishops who believed abortion ought to be the top political and moral focus of the church and the camp led by the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin that argued for a more “consistent ethic of
life.”…
But just last fall, the American bishops released Faithful Citizenship: A Call to Political Responsibility, a document that reminded Catholics that “all life issues are connected.” Over the past few years, archbishops around the country have spoken out in favor of immigration reform, opposing the use of torture, and advancing policies that focus more on the poor. 3
As a result, many Catholics can now argue that neither party fits precisely with Catholic social teaching – the Democratic position on abortion is still unacceptable but so are GOP positions on education and health care and the war in Iraq…. – as of this past February – 41% of Catholic voters called themselves Independents, an 11- point increase since 2004. And in opinion polls, Catholics are even divided between Obama and McCain… 3
{We will compare the above six prudential issues with the five absolutely evil life issues. In fairness to his presidency, Bush has come out in favor of immigration reform but he has done something historic: his faith-based initiatives for the poor. A Democratic elected Presidency would not have started this.}

A Victorious Boycott of McDonald's
A Victorious Boycott of McDonald’s
cinops be gone Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008 A.M.
How can we translate this great victory into one for Proposition 8 on the California ballot? Hope we can. Thank you American Family Association, and its Founder and Chairman, Donald E. Wildmon who began the boycott of McDonald’s in May, 2008. Let me review his two letters.
October, 2008 Message:
McDonald’s has become a major player in the drive to legalize homosexual marriage. It’s true and here are the sad details.
1. McDonald’s gave $20,000 to the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLC) for a seat on its board of directors. NGLC is pressuring federal and state lawmakers to pass laws legalizing same-sex marriage.
2. McDonald’s spokesman Bill Whitman publicly implied that those who oppose same-sex marriage are motivated by hate.
3. McDonald’s sponsors training for homosexuals on how to promote their agenda inside the corporations for which they work.
4. McDonald’s help sponsor the vulgar and profane S.F. Gay Pride Parade.
5. McDonald’s paid to have this statement placed in an ad that ran in a homosexual booklet: “FROM NEIGHBORHOOD TO NEGHBORHOOD, COAST TO COAST & AROUND THE WORLD, McDONALD’S IS PROUD TO CELEBRATE DIVERSITY.”CODE FOR “DIVERSITY” IS A CODE-SPEAK FOR HOMOSEXUALITY.
Let me quickly add that this boycott in NOT about …
…. whether or not McDonald’s wants to hire homosexuals, or whether or not homosexuals want to eat at McDonald’s; or how McDonald’s treats its homosexual employees.
RATHER THIS BOYCOTT IS ALL ABOUT THE FACT THAT, AS A CORPORATION, McDONALD’S ADAMANTLY REFUSES TO REMAIN TO REMAIN NEUTRAL IN THE CULTURE WAR.
And worse, McDonald’s has chosen to put its full weight behind the promotion of the homosexual agenda … including so-called “same-sex marriage.”
The bottom line for us as Christians is simply this:
Since God calls us to be good stewards for the blessings He gives us, we dare not use His blessings to support a company that intentionally and publicly undermines His Word:
My plan is to employ the same strategy against McDonald’s that we used effectively against Ford Motor Company. That strategy was, as you may remember, to encourage Ford dealers to send our message up the line to the company’s corporate office.
October 9, 2008 Message:
AFA ENDS BOYCOTT: McDONALD’S AGREES TO CHANGES
Great news! Because of AFA supporters like you, McDonald’s has told AFA they will remain neutral in the culture war regarding homosexual marriage. AFA is ending the boycott…. The company has not plans to renew their membership in NGLCC when it expires in December.
Personal: I have no respect for any company’s corporate office that promotes the gay agenda. They need to be taught a lesson. Financial size and or bankruptcy to half the size of their competitors. So pull your money out of McDonald’s.

An Issue Bigger than California # 1 of 2
An Issue Bigger Than California! # 1 of 2
cinops be gone Tuesday, October 21, 2008 A.M.
This is a major article that appeared in The Catholic World Report, Oct. 08 by Brian O’Neel, p. 34-6
The fate of Proposition 8, the initiative to protect traditional marriage on the state’s November ballot, has national implications.
In the dissent to the state Supreme Court 4-3 decision in the ruling that overturned Proposition 22, Justice Marvin Baker wrote:
Nothing in our {state} Constitution, express or implicit, compels the majority’s startling conclusion that the age-old understanding of marriage – an understanding recently confirmed by an initiative law – is no longer valid.
“California statutes already recognize same-sex unions and grant them all the substantive legal rights this state can bestow. If there is to be a further sea change in the social and legal understanding of the marriage itself, that evolution should occur by similar democratic means. The majority forecloses this ordinary democratic process, and, in doing so, oversteps its authority.”
As if to express his own dissenting opinion, Pope Benedict XVI noted the day after the court’s ruling:
“The union of love, based on matrimony between a man and woman, which makes up the family, represents the good for all society that cannot be substituted by, confused with, or compared to other types of unions.”
“Our basic strategy is to communicate the value and importance of marriage to society,” says Proposition 8 Campaign Manager Jeff Flint.
“We will also communicate how our measure is a positive affirmation of marriage and not a hateful campaign against homosexuals and the lifestyle they choose to live. They have a right to live that lifestyle. We’re not taking away that right, but similarly they don’t have a right to redefine marriage or have the courts do it for them.” …
“Ultimately, this battle is up to pastors in parishes,” says Bishop Salvatore Cordileone, auxiliary bishop of San Diego, who many credit with getting Proposition 8 on the ballot:
“That’s where most people meet in Church, so preaching about it, teaching about it, helping to distribute election materials, that all needs to happen. In some places, parishes are even becoming voter registration centers. Of course, we have to keep prayer paramount. There will be other, grassroots efforts, and pastors should encourage these. But the job of promoting this will ultimately rest with the pastors in their parishes.”…
Both sides also acknowledge that as California goes, so likely will go the rest of the nation. Fling says, “It would signal the beginning of the end of the fight if we lose here. This is an issue that is bigger than California. People who care about this issue need to understand that this is a national fight.”
Bishop Cordileone agrees. “Society has to understand that marriage and same-sex marriage cannot exist,” he says. “If Proposition 8 loses, those who believe in marriage will be deemed BIGOTS? There are consequences to pay in our society for those who are deemed bigots. Professional licenses aren’t given, you can’t open a school based on bigotry, a lot of privileges are denied. THAT’S HOW THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE WILL BE TREATED IF SAME-SEX MARRIAGE IS ALLOWED TO STAND. And it’s not a just a matter of letting people live their personal lives. CATHOLIC SCHOOLS AND HOSPITALS WILL BE FORCED TO HIRE PEOPLE IN SAME-SEX MARRIAGES.”

cinops be gone Tuesday, October 21, 2008 P.M.
We continue from this morning’s article:
Proposition 8 opponents don’t necessarily disagree. As Bill Press, former chairman of the California Democratic Party and a nationally known political commentator says:
“Proposition 8 is the death rattle of the homophobic religious right. They will lose, and that will end the ugly attempts of so-called Christian conservatives to sell discrimination to sell discrimination in this country.”
(The above hurts deeply because it is spoken by a CINOP commentator.)
One major factor affecting the initiative is the national election. United States Senator John McCain, the GOP candidate for president, has announced his support of the measure. California’s Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, on the other hand voices his support for the Supreme Court’s decision and his opposition to the ballot measure.
(The above hurts deeply because Governor Schwarzenegger is a CINOP.)
Also, as one California lobbyist told CWR, “If Obama is on a roll and the ‘yes’ side doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on TV, this thing probably goes down.”
One late-breaking and potentially decisive factor is a move by former governor and current Attorney General Jerry Brown to change the ballot title and summary language, which California law allows him to do. The title was to have been The Limit on Marriage Constitutional Amendment. However, Brown has changed the title to read, “Eliminates Right of Same-sex couples to Marry.”
Voters originally would have seen the description: “Amends the California to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” Now, because of Brown’s actions, they will be asked to vote on a measure that “{changes} the California Constitution to eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California.” …
The above hurts deeply because Brown is another most notorious CINOP; and while there is division with the Catholic Church on Catholic-in-name-only politicians, marriage is fundamental to our Faith. It would be wise for our California Bishops to censure these politicians in a one paragraph announcement.

Headline News: California Teacher Unions contribute 1$ million to defeat Prop. 8
Personal: I have watched Jerry Brown in politics for more than 30 years. He is a rotten, despicable human being. He destroyed the Public School Teaching Profession that I was in for 23 years. I retired in 1986. He legalized the Rodda Act of 1975 which destroyed the independent-minded teacher, unionized and politicized the teaching profession. It is a personal insult to pay today the unions of NEA, CTA, and Westminster, about one thousand dollars a year as tribute to teach in the Public Schools. They use these monies to promote left-wing causes.
I retired in 1986. By the way, I was a voluntary member of the NEA, CTA and WTA for five years, 1963-68 when at time they were a professional teacher organization. My voluntary dues were about $50. yearly, for all 3 organizations.

Dear Honorable General Colin Powell,
1.) In today’s website, Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008, THE Drudge Report, the headline reads: Colin Powell backs Barack Obama for president. “It’s not about race,” Powell said, “I would have difficulty with two more Republican appointments to the Supreme Court.” What’s so frightening about pro-life to the Black elite in America?
I sincerely believe that they must be totally blind to the suicide and genocide of Black Americans since 1973. Of the 50 million abortions, 17 million of those are Black Americans. What’s so terrible about my pro-life sign which reads: LIFE: THE FIRST INALIENABLE RIGHT?
All across the country today, until Nov. 2nd we have 40 DAYS FOR LIFE campaign vigils at the abortion sites including PLANNED PARENTHOOD.
Of all the minorities, abortion has devastated Black families the most.
2.) ANOTHER QUESTION FOR BARACK OBAMA?
If Joe the plumber got his question answered on the economy with Barack’s judgment, SPREAD THE WEALTH AROUND, Well George, the retired public school teacher has this question for OBAMA? IF ABORTION IS ABOVE YOUR PAY GRADE, WHOSE ADVICE ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE IN DECISION-MAKING IN THE WHITE HOUSE?
YOU ALREADY MADE YOUR DECISION ON ABORTION WITH THE FREEDOM OF CHOICE ACT? Cardinal Rigali said abortion becomes a national entitlement. YOU PROMISED NARAL PRO-CHOICE AMERICA, PLANNED PARENTHOOD AND EMILY’S LIST that it would be the first piece of legislation you would sign.
Are those the kind of advisors you will have in other decision-making? For heaven’s sake that is an evil decision for all Americans. You are going to set up a bubble at the abortion mills so counselors can’t talk to the ladies on the way in. You were a constitutional professor and know darn well that The Freedom of Choice Act legislation is unconstitutional. If counselors were not there since 1973, more than one-half of today’s living Black America would be dead by abortion.
3.) General, I don’t believe that there is anything in your religious faith that supports The Freedom of Choice Act. Do you not understand that the one major reason why most Americans will not vote for Obama is because ABORTION kills all Americans indiscriminately but Black Americans specifically?
Finally, we are in a culture war between traditional America and secular America. Marriage and family are the foundation pillars of any nation. Obama has come out against Proposition 8 in California. {Marriage is between a man and woman.} Also, Obama opposes the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) signed by President Clinton. I believe in your heart that you are for traditional America.
Respectfully yours,
