As a conservative in this Republican presidential campaign I gave Bachman $80, then Cain $40, then Newt $20, and now Santorum $120. The key word is electability! Anybody but Obama! Today, Romney seems to be in first place. Can he win?
Romney is in first place because of his advertising money and secondly because of Obama’s two –faced: double-standard main stream media. When Romney runs as a conservative candidate the evidence is conclusive that he will be ripped apart by the liberal media that no conservative or tea party person will recognize him. This will influence the turn out of the anti-Obama voters on Nov. 6th.
“In a survey of what Rasmussen calls “Core Four” states (states that will very likely determine the outcome of the 2012 election: Virginia, Florida, Ohio, and North Carolina) show Santorum beating Obama by four points. In the same poll, Mitt Romney loses to Barack Obama by four points.”
Romney does not come across as authentic in this election campaign. There is no wisdom or common sense in his proposed remodeling of Romney’s Southern California house – which reportedly includes an elevator for his cars – is a symbol too far for a candidate who struggles to explain his wife’s two Cadillacs, his Swiss bank account, his Cayman Islands holdings and his low tax rate…
This seems to be an election disaster with him as the Republican candidate. I wish the evidence were otherwise. Here is how Time.com readers reacted to a Mitt Romney adviser’s saying the candidate could change his stances “almost like an Etch A Sketch.” “I believe the far right for believing in something, but that will all disappear if they support the man with a thousand faces.” “The man is 100% pandering phony.” “A liberal, a conservative and a moderate walk into a bar. The bartender says, “Hi Mitt!” “Obama has been etch-a-sketching for a few months now. By election time, we will wonder who and where they guy was that ran this country for four years.”

Founded by Please Let Me Live in 1987, our A Woman’s Friend resource center was honored to have Senator Santorum speak last October (2011) in Yuba City. After launching his presidential bid, he did not waiver on his commitment to us, and about 1000 people were grateful. He said little about politics. Central to his hour-long talk were his own life experiences, the successes and failures that molded him into the Christian man and devoted husband and father he is today.
Calling his wife the “greatest influence” in his life, he spoke movingly about family, tragedy, faith, and let us get acquainted with the real Rich Santorum. He was humble, transparent, bold, smart and resolute. After the banquet, he patiently talked with everyone who wanted to meet him. At that time, he was polling 1% in Iowa, but his faith in his candidacy was stunning. And his poll numbers today? Yuba City is 50 miles north of Sacramento, in Northern California.”

On Friday, March 23rd at noon to 1 P.M., there were rallies throughout the country protesting AN UN-AMERICAN Obama Health and Human Service Mandate. This mandate violates our freedom of religion and conscience protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution. The first three lines read: “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;”
I attended a small rally at the busy corner of Harbor Blvd. and Katella in Orange County, California. There was a Catholic Conference going on at the Convention Center and a lot of tourists attending Disneyland. It was a positive experience and lessons to be learned. My corner had a two-faced sign on a pole which read: “Life – The First Inalienable Right” and “Defend Religious Freedom/Conscience- First Amendment to the Constitution.”There were other signs. Our corner did not pass out any literature. Next time or wherever, educational materials must be passed out.
Why? Do you remember pro-life had great rallies in January in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco? Over all, these gatherings of 300,000 and 50,000 were unreported by the news media. We are dealing with two-faced doubled standard news outlets and in their template Christian news goes unreported. The Hollywood inspired secular religion will receive all kinds of promotion.
"We are focusing on fundamental issues and most people are uninformed. We need to educate ourselves. Our Sunday Visitor pamphlet, “Religious Liberty and Catholics” may help us.

THE VERY FIRST OF THESE RIGHTS IS FREEDOM OF RELIGION… The founders of our country were insistent that the government should never establish an official religion. [That includes a secular religion.] This was the case in many European countries.
"In addition they had the highest regard for the freedom of conscience. Our first president, George Washington, said, “The conscientious scruples of all men should be treated with great delicacy and tenderness; and it is my wish and desire, that the laws may always be extensively accommodate to them…” [FYI – the movie “October Baby” is a must see.]

WHY? – MONEY!!! Yesterday, I received some info from American Center for Law*and Justice, P.O. Box 90555, Washington, D.C. 20090-0555 titled, “Bringing down America’s Pro-Abortion Giant.”
The Bad News: More than 53 million abortions have been performed since Roe v. Wade.

Total Planned Parenthood abortions performed so far: 5,649,058 – more than the population of the entire Washington, D.C., metropolitan area – per Planned Parenthood’s 2010 report.
•
Of all the women who seek pregnancy care at Planned Parenthood outlets, 98% are sold abortions. For every pre-natal care client, Planned Parenthood performs about 69 abortions – a 69:1 death-to-life ratio. Planned Parenthood also performs 392 abortions for every one adoption referral.
•
Government funding today accounts for 46.5% of Planned Parenthood’s income, to the tune of $1.3 million per day: a total of nearly half a billion dollars a year.
•
Planned Parenthood’ annual report indicates the organization has a total budget of 1.04 billion and excess revenue of $18.5 million.
The Good News: The ACLJ has been committed to the cause of life for more than two decades. The number of Planned Parenthood affiliates is in decline – only 86 affiliates, down from a high of 191 – thanks largely to strong grassroots activism targeting Planned Parenthood, and a legal and legislative counter-offensive against government funding.
•
From 2009 to 2010, Planned Parenthood experienced a 5 % decline in income, a 70% decline in profit, a 27% decline in contributions, and decline in the number of abortions performed.
•Attendance at Planned Parenthood sex education programs was down 8%.
•
All of this represents the first decline in Planned Parenthood’s abortion business in 16 years.

“There is something weird and incomprehensible in having Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez represent us in Congress. She is on the Obama team and represents the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove and Santa Ana right in the heart of conservative Orange County.
“She is for the Federal Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Mandate that forces Catholic and other Christian organizations and companies be required to provide contraception, sterilization and abortion- inducing drugs to their employees. It’s like in your face voters of Orange County! Sanchez is a member of the Obama regime. Here are several other regulations she supports.
•
A Justice Department decision to characterize the Defense of Marriage Act (a law signed by President Bill Clinton in 1996 that defined marriage as the legal union of one man and one woman) as an act of bigotry, and those who support such a law a being motivated by bias, prejudice, homophobic and racist.
•
A Justice Department legal brief calling for the elimination of the “ministerial exception” that allows religious groups to choose their own ministers without government interference.
•
Legislative efforts in certain states to require all adoption and foster-child agencies to give children to unmarried and/or same-sex couples, and proposals that would impact the conscience rights of doctors and nurses, and even impact the administration of parishes.
•
New federal rules stipulating that agencies helping migrants must provide the “full range” of reproductive services (including abortion and contraception) for refugees.
•
New federal requirements that organizations like Catholic Relief Services provide condom distribution for overseas anti-AIDS programs and other “reproductive services.
“Cardinal Timothy Dolan condemned these proposed regulations: “To force American citizens to choose between violating their conscience and forgoing their health care is literally unconscionable.”
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is attacking, “The First Amendment to the Constitution: Freedom of Religion and Conscience.” Recall the thoughts of now Bishop Jaime Soto, “Loretta Sanchez (D-Orange) has consistently chosen to vote with her party rather than represent her district on this fundamental issue of life. “Who does Sanchez represent? Is it Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Homosexual Agenda? She must believe voters are duped and stupid. Add to this is her 3 time vote for partial-birth abortions, same-sex marriage, and the passage of Obama-Care. Now we find out it’s a dollar monthly from everyone to pay for abortions. It is hard to understand how anyone can support her or her political party in this election cycle.
For example, we will have an initiative on the ballot for Californians to vote on. “Prohibits abortion for females under 18 without Parental Notification:” It was passed in Texas with about 60% of the vote. Legislative efforts in certain states to require all adoption and foster-child agencies to give children to unmarried and/or same-sex couples, and proposals that would impact the conscience rights of doctors and nurses, and even impact the administration of parishes.

New federal rules stipulating that agencies helping migrants must provide the “full range” of reproductive services (including abortion and contraception) for refugees.

New federal requirements that organizations like Catholic Relief Services provide condom distribution for overseas anti-AIDS programs and other “reproductive services.
“Cardinal Timothy Dolan condemned these proposed regulations: “To force American citizens to choose between violating their conscience and forgoing their health care is literally unconscionable.”
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is attacking, “The First Amendment to the Constitution: Freedom of Religion and Conscience.” Recall the thoughts of now Bishop Jaime Soto, “Loretta Sanchez (D-Orange) has consistently chosen to vote with her party rather than represent her district on this fundamental issue of life. “Who does Sanchez represent? Is it Planned Parenthood, the ACLU, and the Homosexual Agenda? She must believe voters are duped and stupid. Add to this is her 3 time vote for partial-birth abortions, same-sex marriage, and the passage of Obama-Care. Now we find out it’s a dollar monthly from everyone to pay for abortions. It is hard to understand how anyone can support her or her political party in this election cycle.
For example, we will have an initiative on the ballot for Californians to vote on. “Prohibits abortion for females under 18 without Parental Notification:” It was passed in Texas with about 60% of the vote. “The March 5th (Jesuit) America editorial (“Policy Not Liberty”) takes the United States bishops to task for entering too deeply into the finer points of health care policy as they ponder what slightly revised Obama administration mandate might mean for the Catholic Church in the U.S.A.
“These details, we are told, do not impinge on religious liberty. We are also told that our recent forthright language borders on incivility. What details are we talking about? For one thing, a government mandate to insure, one way or another, for an abortifacient drug called Ella. Here the “details” would seem to be fertilized ova, small defenseless human beings, who will likely suffer abortion, within the purview of a church-run health insurance program.
“What other details are at issue? Some may think the government is forcing the church to provide insurance coverage for direct surgical sterilizations such a tubal litigations is a matter of policy. Such force, though, feels an awful lot like an infringement on religious liberty.
“Still another detail is ordinary contraception. Never is ordinary conception. Never mind that the dire societal ills which Pope Paul predicted would ensue with the widespread practice of artificial contraception have more than come true. Government makes the rules and the rules are the rules.
“So, the bishops should regard providing (and paying for) contraception as, well, a policy detail. After all, it’s not like the federal government is asking bishops to deny the divinity of Christ. It’s just a detail in a moral theology – life and love, or something as that. And why worry about other ways the government may soon require the church to violate its teachings as a matter of policy?
“More details come to mind. Many if not most church entities are self-insured. Thus, Catholic social service agencies, schools, and hospitals could end up paying for abortifacients, sterilizations, and contraception’s.
"If the editorial is to be believed, bishops should regard it not as matter of religious liberty but merely policy that as providers they teach one thing but as employers they are made to teach something else. In other words, we are made to teach something else. In other works we are forced to be a countersign to church teaching and to give people plenty of reason not to follow it. The detail in question here is called “scandal.”
“Then there is the detail of religious insurers and companies that are not owned by the Church but which exist solely to serve the church’s mission. The new “accommodation” leaves them out in the cold. If I really wanted to get into the weeds … mention the conscience rights of individual employers.
“Have I forgotten any other details we bishops shouldn’t be attending to? Well, I guess we’re policy wonks for wondering if the government has a compelling interest in forcing the church to insure for proscribed services when contraception is covered in 90 percent health care plans, if free in Title X programs, and is available from Walmart (generic) for about $10., a month. Pardon me also for wondering whether the most basic freedom, religious liberty, isn’t being compromised, not by a right to health care, but by a claim to “services” which regard pregnancy and fertility as diseases. And didn’t President Obama promise adequate conscience protection in the reform of health care?”…
