SUBVERSIVE AND RADICAL AGENDA OF THE ACADEMIC LEFT

THE SUBVERSIVE AND RADICAL AGENDA OF THE ACADEMIC LEFT

Thanks to the letter from "Intercollegiate Studies Institute" Jan. 30, 2017, Charles Copeland:

"A recent study by our friends at the "National Association of Scholars" titled "Making Citizens: How American Universities Teach Civics", details exactly how civics education has been co-opted by the Academic Left. ...
To quote the NAS report, "Instead of teaching college students the foundations of law, liberty, and self-government, colleges teach students how to organize protests, occupy buildings, and stage demonstrations."

In sum, the Academic Left has redefined civics as progressive political activism. Former President Obama's time spent as a "community organizer" is a model for the Left's understanding of civics. Instead of learning about the principles and institutions that form the foundation of our country, the Left's New Civics stresses diversity, environmentalism, LGBT advocacy, the oxymoronic idea of "global citizenship", and other trendy liberal causes....

The Left's experiment in New Civics is a massive experiment that is changing the way the American people understand citizenship. According the NAS, "civic engagement diverts at least $40 billion a year and 1.5 million hours of student labor towards progressive organizations." ...
The recent demonstrations at the presidential inauguration in Washington, DC, were a perfect example of the Left's New Civics in action.
Many of the protestors were rowdy college students intent on causing lawless disruptions and clashing with the police. As they marched down the streets, they unironically chanted. "This is what democracy looks like." According to the Left's  New Civics catechism, the essence of democracy is protests. not voting. Not petitioning leaders. Not debating the issues - that's the old, outmoded, traditional idea of civic engagement. ... The truth is that many of the students protesting the results of the November election didn't even bother to vote in it.

The Left's New Civics is taught first to college students and then filters down to the rest of the culture through teachers of primary school, the makers of culture, and even political leaders themselves. The Left unchecked it will overtake our entire culture.

FORTUNATELY, ISI (INTERCOLLEGIATE STUDIES INSTITUTE)  IS THE ANTIDOTE TO THE SICKNESS THE LEFT CONTINUES TO SPREAD ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES. A FEW EXSAMPLES:

"ISI Speaker's Bureau challenges left-wing ideology by sponsoring guest lecturers on campuses where all too often there are no conservative voices. ISI conferences teach the core principles of liberty that the Left's New Civics has abandoned. We bring together student leaders from across the country and mentor them to become tomorrow's national leaders. ISI Collegiate Network of on-campus student newspapers helps student writers and editors make the case for conservative ideas to hundreds of student readers. ISI distributes hundreds of thousands of free copies of vital, hard-to-find books and articles by conservative authors, in addition to our own flagship publications, the "Intercollegiate Review", and "Modern Age"....

(A personal note: "ISI helped me financially when I obtained my M.A. in U.S. History from  Pepperdine College in Los Angeles in 1969.")

P.S. It is an absolute necessity on the part of the Mainstream Media (New York Times) to expose and educate the American people on  the nature and history of the Anarchist and, or Communist Movements in the U.S.A. Look at the violence that occurred at UC Berkeley on Wed. Feb. 1, 2017.
