“Rejoice always, Pray constantly, Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the Will of God in Jesus Christ for You.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

In this book “Praying Constantly”, we will examine some advice given by St. Paul… His command in his first epistle to the Thessalonians is to “pray without ceasing”, (v. 5:17, NAB).

The Paradox of Prayer

Ultimately, prayer – like everything that is good – is a gift from God. It is grace… True prayer always finds its source in God and is really a response to God’s reaching out to us, to His grace extended to us. St. Paul speaks very clearly of this in his epistle to the Romans:

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God”. – Romans 8:26-7

Here, St. Paul shows us that although prayer is our turning to God, it depends totally on God’s prior calling to us. Abraham Joshua Heschel, the twentieth-century Jewish religious thinker who attended the Second Vatican Council as an observer, once wrote:

“There is something which is far greater than my desire to pray, namely, God’s desire that I pray. There is something which is far greater than my will to believe, namely, God’s will that I believe. How insignificant is the outpouring of my soul in the midst of this great universe! Unless it is the will of God that I pray, unless God desires our prayers, how ludicrous is all my praying…”

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church, we find this idea stated in a very beautiful way using imagery from St. John’s account of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well.

The wonder of prayer is revealed beside the well where we come seeking water: there, Christ comes to meet every human being. It is he who first seeks us and asks us for a drink. Jesus thirsts; his asking arises from the depths of God’s desire for us. Whether we realize it or not, prayer is the encounter of God’s thirst with ours. God thirsts that we may thirst for him.

These are startling words if we really stop to think about them. Here, the Church tells us that our prayer, which we often dismiss as insignificant or even empty, is not empty at all. Before we have even uttered a word, our prayer is already full of “God’s thirst” for us, of His love for us, of His desire to be in constant, intimate relationship with us. The moment we truly realize this about prayer, we are well on our way to “praying constantly.”… Prayer is often forgotten: God calls us to turn to Him in prayer goes ignored or unheard… “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10 … end to chatter…

“Equity policies purporting to combat “homophobia” amount to “ethical cleansing” that aim to eliminate opposing moral views, says the Catholic Civil Rights League of British Columbia.

In a July 6th letter, CCRL BC Director Sean Murphy criticized the BC Civil Liberties Association’s support for an equity policy that passed in the Burnaby school board in June. THE POLICY AIMS TO COMBAT “HETEROSIXM,” WHICH IT DEFINES AS THE “ASSUMPTION THAT ALL PEOPLE ARE HETEROSEXUAL AND HETEROSEXUALITY IS SUPERIOR AND MORE DESIRABLE FOR ALL PEOPLE THAN ANY OTHER ORIENTATION.”

Murphy invited the BCCLA to join them in signing a new Declaration on the Authority of Parents and Guardians in the Education of their Children, which they say is a non-denominational statement of principles offered to all people of good will.

“The Declaration is not specific to the Catholic Church or Catholic teaching,” said Murphy. “It cites numerous international conventions and declarations that have been signed by many nations, including Canada.”

THE DECLARATION AFFIRMS THAT “THE AUTHORITY OF PARENTS AND GUARDIANS TO DIRECT EDUCATION OF THEIR OWN CHILDREN MUST BE FULLY RESPECTED AND ACCOMMODATED BY THE STATE AND BY ALL THOSE INVOLVED IN EDUCATION.”

In his letter to the BCCLA, Murphy said that by their urging the Burnaby school board to adopt a policy to combat heterosexism and homophobia, they appear to support “the use of state schools to inculcate acceptance of what you believe to be morally superior views of sexuality, and to eliminate or at least silence and marginalize opposing moral views.”

“WHAT IS SOUGHT IS NOT JUST THE SAFE EDUCATIONAL INVIRONMENT DESIRED BY ALL REASONABLE AND COMPASSIONATE PEOPLE, BUT ETHICAL CLEANSING,” HE SAID.

Murphy also observed that government-run education has “provided the state or other powerful interests the means to bring their power to bear on fundamental freedoms. Unlike law, education is intended to get directly at interior dispositions, opinions, and beliefs of citizens.”

Under equity policies like that in Burnaby, he says, “persons in authority are to use their considerable influence and power over minors in their care not only to suppress language and behavior deemed ‘unacceptable’ by a state institution, but to inculcate what the state institution considers to be ‘acceptable’ attitudes and ideas.”

“It is now time to recognize that parents are the first line of defense against the abuse of state power in education, and the first protectors, not just of children, but of civil liberties,” he asserts. George H. Kubeck

“At least 8 states were successful in partially or fully defunding Planned Parenthood: IN, KS, NJ,NH,NC, TN, TX, and WI but more than 60 million of tax monies now will NOT go to the nation’s largest abortion chain. Planned Parenthood spokeswomen are whining about the loss of this taxpayer funding, yet the national headquarters’ latest financial statement shows billions of dollars in assets. So why did Planned Parenthood need our tax money in the first place?

Perhaps because statistics prove that tax-funded abortions are more accessible, abortion rates climb in direct proportion. Since abortions are PP’s biggest “profit item,” its business plan likely would seek continuous increases in federal, state or local tax funding. In many cases, the money actually goes to PP’s affiliates, who frequently share staff, facilities, overhead, etc...

In 2014, ObamaCare’s Health Exchanges become effective, and seeking to offset this, 13 states now restrict abortion coverage through exchanges; FL, ID, IN, KS, NE, OK, UT, and VA also restrict abortion coverage in private health plans…

According to the National Council of State Legislatures, many other pro-life bills have been passed. Some restrict abortions based on fetal pain (Al, ID, IN, KS, NE and OK), 19 states require sonograms, and 14 states have some pre-abortion waiting periods. IN, KS, ND, SD and TX mandate at least 24-hour pre-abortion waiting period, while SD not only has a 72-hour wait but also mandatory counseling from a pregnancy help center.

34 other states mandate counseling prior to an abortion and 7 require information about the link between abortion and breast cancer. CHOOSE LIFE LICENSE PLATES to encourage adoption rather than abortion are offered in 29 states.

24 states have parental consent laws, while 11 require parental notification. Among these states, courts have blocked IL, MT, NV, NJ, and NM from enforcing their parental notification or consent laws… [California never passed parental notification thanks to Democratic CINO politicians.)

When we recapture the U.S. Senate and the White House in 2012, it finally will be possible to pass strong pro-life federal laws. But until then RNC for Life is working with other pro-life organizations to help states pass as much good life-affirming legislation as possible (such as protecting the “not perfect” babies (Down Syndrome) while Republican landslide election results are still in place in 26 legislatures…

“During the Clinton years, 56% of Americans described themselves as pro-choice, while only 33 percent of us self-identified as pro-life. But in just a decade and a half, the numbers have completed shifted. [And this is in spite of the “Left Turn” liberal news media propaganda.]

According to the most recent Gallup polling, pro-lifers edged out those in favor of legal abortion by 47 to 45 percent. Half of all Americans agree that abortion is morally wrong.

And the news gets even better. Following a ground-breaking Nebraska law last year that bars late-term abortions because of the risk of fetal pain, five other states have passed measures outlawing nearly all abortions after five months of pregnancy. Legislatures in Kansas, Alabama, Idaho, Indiana, and Oklahoma this year have enacted abortion bans after 20 or 21 weeks. The laws allow for exceptions when the mother’s life is at risk or she faces severe physical impairment.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised, but liberal activists are shocked. AP reports that late-term abortion laws “have emboldened anti-abortion activists, angered abortion providers, [except in California] and will likely make decisions all the more wrenching for women affected by the late-term bans. Not one word about the protecting of the lives of babies or supporting the choice of pregnant women to save their own children.

Who is really on the side of women in this whole distorted debate? Well most Americans aren’t buying the line of the abortion industry. According to Gallup, “majorities of Democrats as well as most Republicans favor informed consent, parental consent, 24-hour waiting periods, and a ban on “partial-birth abortion.”

[All of this in spite of the 60 Democratic CINO Politicians in Congress.]

The respected polling agency says that 87 percent of respondents favor informing a pregnant woman of the risks of having an abortion. Folks, in these contentious times, it’s hard to get 87 percent of the people to agree that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west!

Responding to this pro-life groundswell, state legislatures in 2011 have passed more than 80 bills aimed at restricting access to abortion. That’s up from 23 such laws enacted last year…

Here is some more good news. According to the pro-choice Guttmacher Institute, forty-six states now allow medical professionals to opt out of abortions. 43 allow some institutions to opt out. 36 require parental notification or consent for minors. 25 require waiting periods, 19 require counseling, and 16 outlaw “partial birth” abortion.

THE WHOLE MOVEMENT SHOWS US THAT WE ARE ABLE – IF WE’RE PATIENT AND PERSERVERING – TO CHANGE CULTURE, AND IT SHOULD ENCOURAGE US IN THE BATTLE OVER SO-CALLED GAY “MARRIAGE.””

Let’s focus on so-called Catholic governor of Maryland Martin O’Malley. Something similar could be written about governors Andrew Cuomo and Jerry Brown. We are talking about a mindset of a Catholic-in-name-only religion within the Catholic Church. The CINOP is still a sacred cow. This is a serious matter. I don’t understand why Catholic writers have not written on this subject.

Catholic Maryland governor rejects bishop’s exhortation not to support gay ‘marriage”
O’Malley announced the passage of homosexual “marriage” as a legislative priority on July 15 at a meeting for the National Governors Association in Salt Lake City, Utah. A bill to legalize homosexual “marriage” passed the Maryland State Senate in March, but it failed to win passage in the House of Delegates. O’Malley had promised to sign the bill if it had been approved by the House.

[Christian governors at the Governors Association must have been scratching their heads. What’s going on here? They have been very patient with the CINO politicians and are aware as this blog has stated in over 1200 letters that the CINOP promotes directly & indirectly GAY MARRIAGE in America.]

Baltimore’s Archbishop Edwin O’Brien challenged O’Malley to act in line with his faith and not to support homosexual “marriage.” Was he acting out of “mere political expediency?”

The governor responded to O’Brien’s letter in a letter of his own, saying he agrees with many of the beliefs, but no on the issue of homosexuality. [Please note his clever way of expressing himself.] “I do not presume, nor would I ever presume as governor, to question or infringe upon your freedom to define, to preach about and to administer the sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church,” O’Malley said. But on the public issue of granting equal marital rights to same-sex couples, you and I disagree.” [A same-sex marriage America is not America anymore.]

[Now this guy ran for governor using the Catholic label. Well the next time he runs for office, please don’t use the Catholic label. Also, a CENSOR of this O’Malley is appropriate by Catholic organizations and by the Archbishop. This charade with the CINO politicians must come to an end.]

O’Malley continues, “When shortcomings in our laws bring about a result that is unjust, I have a public obligation to try to change that injustice… I have concluded that discriminating against individuals based on their sexual orientation in the context of civil marital rights is unjust. I have concluded that treating the children of families headed by same-sex couples with lesser protection under the law than the children of families headed by heterosexual parents, is also unjust.” [All of this sounds great but it is destructive to nature’s marriage, children, and the health of the homosexuals.]

George H. Kubeck – Through education, it is the goal of this blog to inform, defeat and erase the CINOP (Catholic-in-name-only politician) from the American political scene. Thanks to the CINOP, the Catholic voting bloc is the most ill-informed group in America. Please sign the petition to repeal SB. 48. Assemblyman Solorio voted for it.

Pope Benedict XVI wrote this meditation on July 29, 1989*. It is appropriate for today. This week begins World Youth Day in Madrid. We are looking for future spiritual and even political leaders who are in the mold of Bishop Fulton Sheen and Blessed John Paul II. Here’s what Cardinal Ratzinger wrote in Co-Workers of the Truth*, 1992 Ignatius Press, Aug. 16th, p. 261-2

“There is taking place in the present time a silent exodus from the Church. The inner consensus of belief seems, somehow, to have lost the power to control it that it would perhaps have had a generation ago…. One problem here is that the Church can present to us only what she has and what she is.

But we cannot begin with the way she presents herself; we must go to the roots. If there does not exist in the Church strengths that have something to offer us today, then her presentation of herself will be of little value to us.

These strengths undoubtedly do exist in the Church, for the Gospel has not become void and Christ has not departed from us. We do not place our hope in strategies; on the contrary, Christ is our hope. We must proceed to and from his presence. What is central must remain central.

The Church erred when she yielded to a perhaps half-hearted desire to prove that even without the good news of God and his Christ she was still a good and useful philanthropic organization. Granted, the philanthropic contribution of the Church is of enormous importance – a task imposed on her by the Lord.

But we must realize that she is not just one welfare organization among others that wants to assure her place in the social scene, but that her activity springs from the deeper power of a love that wants only to communicate itself, that she is active, not because she wants to be in the limelight, but because “the love of Christ urges us on.”

It must be evident that God is something of which humanity stands in need. The Church must proclaim her belief courageously and without embarrassment, must confess what she knows is salvific: that has to do with God and God has to do with us; that she can therefore bring humanity into contact with him … It would be a great error, however to think we are reflecting the views of Pope John XXIII and the Council merely because we follow every fashion that is considered modern.

“To be courageous can also mean to be nonconformist, to oppose something that everyone else accepts and so in a moment’s time to find oneself suddenly in the minority. In the last analysis, the world is ultimately governed by “COURAGEOUS MINORITIES” that really have something to offer, not by some superficial mass phenomena.”

“The most vicious response was by Eric Alterman, a writer at Media Matters. He insinuated that we had been paid by right-wing think tanks to fudge our results. “Rigging the Numbers” was the title of his essay. The following were his concluding paragraphs”…

Check the fine print and one finds this study – naively touted as both objective and significant by the UCLA public affairs office and published, by the previously respected Quarterly Journal of Economics, edited at Harvard University’s Department of Economics, was the product of a significant investment by right-wing think tanks. In 2000-2001, Groseclose was a Hoover Institution national fellow, …

And yet despite its shockingly desultory intellectual underpinnings and almost comical ideological imperatives, we can be certain that we will hear about this study over and over for the next decade – from the very people who have written off normative knowledge and scientific research as some sort of liberal plot to subvert the values of Heartland America…

Larry Greenfield, a fellow at the Claremont Institute, has made a profound observation about the psyche of the far left. “They worship the God of Equality.” … While other virtues, such a kindness and honesty, are important, they are secondary when they class with Equality.

Our study, at least in small ways, harms the goal of Equality. In at least small ways, it works to make U.S. public policy less “progressive” and less consistent with “social justice.” …

First, before the study was published, several professors invited me to present the research at their universities. I gave presentations at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Duke, and two presentations at Stanford… Next was the response at the University of Missouri. At the heated meeting of the department chairs, the chair of the economics department suggested. “Hey, we’re all scholars here. Maybe we should settle this like scholars – with a debate… The dean agreed, and he set up a forum. Not one of the professors who criticized the study showed up at the debate. …

Out of the many hundreds of professors at UCLA, I’m aware of only nine who voted for McCain in 2008, and one of them asked me never to reveal that fact to anyone at the school. I am almost certain that not one dean, chancellor, or vice-chancellor at UCLA voted for McCain in 2009 or for Bush in 2000 or 2004…”

This book by Tim Groseclose is a game changer for traditional American advocates, including the U.S. Catholic Church: +++ Let’s check the Introduction # 1 of 2:

Discussions about Media bias can really inflame people’s passions. In the spring of 2002, I began a research project with Jeff Milyo, who at that time was public policy professor at the University of Chicago. Our goal was to create a method that would objectively measure the bias of the media

In social science we have lots of precise numerical devices that measure how liberal or conservative politicians are. There ought to be something similar for the media. Three and half years later, after thousands of hours of gathering and analyzing data, we achieved that goal.

For twenty major news outlets, we estimated a score, between 0 and 100, that described how liberal each outlet was. The beauty of the scores, which I now call slant quotients, is that they are directly comparable to political quotients. This means that they can answer questions such as (i) “Is the New York Times to the left or right of Hillary Clinton?” or (ii) “Is Fox News to the left or right of J. McCain?”

The results generally agreed with the claims of conservatives… our method found that 18 of the 20 outlets were left of center. The only two were not were The Washington Times and Fox News Special Report with Brit Hume…

Then came the firestorm. Our study was denounced by hundreds, and may thousands, of left-wing blogs, including Media Matters, the Daily Kos, and Huffington Post. At one point if you Googled “crap UCLA study,” most of the first ten listings would refer to our study… Many blogs attacked Milyo and me personally and tried to insinuate that right-wing groups had paid us to fudge our results. The e-mails were even more vicious…

In a more recent debate, I told him [One of my colleagues at UCLA, whom I’ll call Byron B. Bright (a staunch liberal) who may be the smartest political scientist on the planet, “No, it’s not true that liberals and conservatives are equally decent. Liberals have worse manners; they go to church less; they more often live in aggressive, urban environments; they shout people down at public speeches; and they use more vulgarity when they talk.”… His response, “Funny how all those well-mannered conservatives favor preemptive strikes against innocent Iraqis.”…

Without doubt this book is a classic. This is the first in a series of letters on Left Turn – “How the Liberal Media Bias Distorts the American Mind” by Tim Groseclose – St. Martin Press – N.Y., 2011

It is an informational vaccine for the Evangelicals, Tea Party Associates, Orthodox Catholic Advocates and others. The Liberals plan massive smears and lies against them. It is a badge of honor for Patriots.

I bought the book yesterday from Barnes and Noble. It was not displayed. It costs $26.99 and with tax $27.46. Save your money and check out this blog. Read the red cover of the book and realize that this is a most serious study of how media and politics interact and how false public opinions are formed.

Preface (Excerpts)

“In at least one important way journalists are very different from the rest of us – they are more liberal. For instance, according to surveys, in a typical presidential election Washington correspondents vote about 93-7 for the Democrat, while the rest of America votes 50-50. What happens when our view of the world is filtered through eyes, ears, and minds of such a liberal group?

As I demonstrate, using objective, social-scientific methods, the filtering prevents us from seeing the world as it actually is. Instead we see only a distorted version of it. It is as if we see the world through a glass – a glass that magnifies the facts the liberals want us to see and shrinks the facts that conservative want us to see. The metaphoric glass affects not just what we see, but how we think. THAT IS, THE MEDIA BIAS REALLY DOES MAKE US MORE LIBERAL.

Perhaps worst of all, media bias feeds on itself. That is the bias makes us more liberal, which makes us less able to detect the bias, which allows the media to get away with more bias, which makes us more liberal, and so on. All of this means that the political views that we currently see in America are not their natural views. We see only an artificial, distorted version of those views. …

Construction of the Book’s Argument To some people, these conclusions will sound shocking. He spoke with God or about God. Dominic possessed such great integrity and was so strongly motivated by divine love, that without a doubt he proved to be a bearer of honor and grace. He was a man of great equanimity, except when moved by compassion and mercy. And since a joyful heart animates the face, he displaced the peaceful composure of a spiritual man in the kindness he manifested outwardly and by the cheerfulness of his countenance.

Wherever he went he showed himself in word and deed to be a man of the Gospel. During the day no one was more community-minded or pleasant toward his brothers and associates. During the night hours no one was more persistent in every kind of vigil and supplication. He seldom spoke unless it was with God, that is, in prayer, or about God; and in this matter he instructed his brothers.

Frequently he made a special personal petition that God would deign to grant him a genuine charity, effective in caring for and obtaining the salvation of men. For he believed that only then would he be truly a member of Christ, when he had given himself totally for the salvation of men, just as the Lord Jesus, the Savior of all, had offered himself completely for our salvation. So, for this work, after a lengthy period of careful and provident planning, he founded the Order of Friars Preachers.

In his conversation and letters he often urged the brothers of the Order to study constantly the Old and New Testaments. He always carried with the gospel to Matthew and the epistles of Paul, and so did he study them that he almost knew them from memory.

Two or three times he was chosen bishop, but he always refused, preferring to live with his brothers in poverty. Throughout his life, he preserved the honor of his virginity. He desired to be scourged and cut to pieces, and so die for the faith of Christ. Of him Pope Gregory declared: “I knew him as a steadfast follower of the apostolic way of life. There is no doubt that he is in heaven, sharing in the glory of the apostles themselves.”

What is a referendum? [This information is from Paulo@stopsb48.com ] Conducting a referendum means “referring measures proposed or passed by a legislative body to the vote of the electorate for approval or rejection.” In other words, when the legislature and governor approve an unpopular and harmful law such as SB 48, the people may step in and vote to reverse the decision. Bringing a measure before the people for such a vote requires the petition of over a half a million valid signatures.

Why is a referendum necessary for SB 48?

SB 48 costs too much and goes too far. The bill is controversial in that it undermines family, community, and responsibility by diverting school resources from academic pursuits to promote the political agenda of bisexuals, transgender individuals, and homosexuals. It uses all social science curriculum, including history books and other instructional materials, to teach children as young as five not only to accept but also to endorse transgenderism, bisexuality, and homosexuality, looking to individuals with these lifestyles as models and viewing their sexual lifestyles positively.

Michael Medved* stated that the new law requires that public school textbooks and curricula, beginning with kindergarten should feature “the accomplishments of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans.” Should teachers now focus with similar intensity on the sexuality of 99% of significant personalities in U.S. history who counted as unequivocal heterosexuals? •The reason is obvious. Trousered Apes* (by Duncan Williams, Arlington House, 1972 - title is taken from C.S. Lewis) is cogently argued, highly intelligent and devastatingly effective anatomization of what passes for culture today, showing that it is nihilistic in purpose, ethically and spiritually vacuous, and Gadarene in destination.

•The book appalls the servants of the conventional wisdom – the media pundits and situational clergymen, the crazed professors and lib ladies and Pulitzer prizemen and randy Catholic fathers… who continue to propound the notion that change is progress, self-indulgence, liberation, and novelty, originality.

•Professor Duncan Williams’s* conclusion, to them anathema, is that we cannot live without God, and that when we try to we are fated, either to imagine ourselves to be gods and so be able to shape our own destiny, flying like Icarus into the sun, or to relapse into carnality, seeking fulfillment through the senses.

•Since Rousseau two hundred years ago first glorified the ‘noble savage’, freed from all restraints of civilized social behavior , we have witnessed the elevation into the center of the literary stage of the ignoble savage … man increasingly bereft of a sense of purpose, of scales of value, of appreciation of order, harmony and morality – reduced ultimately and inevitably to nothing more than his basic animal instincts

•“The best appear to ‘lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity.”

•No one who is old enough to remember the Hitler Youth or who saw Mao’s Red Guards in action can fail to appreciate Orwell’s message that youth can be trained, indoctrinated and manipulated by irresponsible politicians and others to further purely selfish ambitions.

•The sources of the contemporary crisis can be summarized as: an almost total loss of religious faith – a denial of any ultimate reference:

•The folk-heroes of today’s youth, Thoreau, Che Guevara , Ho Chi Minh, share one common characteristic with the anti-heroes of Dostoevsky, Osborne, Salinger et al. They were, or are, all in opposition to society which today’s activists, as well as artists, regard as hostile, stupid and malignant.

•When man adopts a deterministic attitude to events, he becomes a passive spectator of human destiny, unable to exercise any influence over the forces molding his thoughts and actions, a victim and not a shaper of history.

•As Edmund Burke wrote in 1791: ‘Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition to put moral chains upon their own appetites … society cannot exist unless a controlling power upon will and appetite be placed somewhere and the less there is of it there is within, the more there is without. It is ordained in the constitution of things that men of intemperate minds cannot be free. Their passions forge their fetters.’

May I share a letter I mailed to you dated Aug. 8, 2005, Feast of St. Dominic

“In July, the pro-abortion Catholic politicians in Canada succeeded in passing the same-sex marriage laws C-38. This outrageous scandal has highlighted the tragic collapse of the Church leadership in Canada. In some ways, this tragedy equals the sex and homosexual scandal in the U.S.A. In both cases the spirit of dissent was a major factor.

(Behold the ingenious dissenter Mario Cuomo. Yesterday, he appeared on “Meet the Press.” He reinvents the Catholic Faith and is still the patron saint of the pro-abortion Catholic politicians. Mario Cuomo is no Pope.) Nevertheless, the Canadian scandal ought to dramatically change the modus operandi our U.S. Bishops.

According to Frances Cardinal Arinze, the Vatican’s Prefect over the Administration of the Sacraments, the denial of communion to pro-abortion politicians is a no-brainer. It is a matter that should have been taken care of twenty five years ago.

The inaction on the part of bishops could have been a cover-up for a political party. It allowed other cancers to enter that once great party so that today it is on the road to suicide. Can the Canadian clergy and other and other practicing Christians remain registered with the abortion and the same-sex marriage party? In the USA we have a political party that is pro-abortion, same-sex marriage, assisted-suicide and for embryonic stem cell research. These are absolute evils.

Let our frame of action be Pope John Paul II his Encyclicals. Cardinal Ratzinger’s memo to Theodore Cardinal McCarrick was clear: “The practice of indiscriminately presenting oneself to receive Holy Communion, merely as a consequence of being at Mass, is an abuse that must be corrected … Regarding the grave sin of abortion and euthanasia, when a person’s formal cooperation becomes manifest (understood, in the case of a Catholic politician, as his consistently campaigning & voting for permissive abortion & euthanasia laws), His Pastor should meet with him, instructing him about the Church’s teaching, informing him that he is not to present himself for Holy Communion until he brings to an end the objective situation of sin, and warning him otherwise be denied the Eucharist.”

The pursuit of the truth is in the teaching pronouncements of Pope Benedict XVI. It is a cop-out to say that “we can’t get involved because it is political,” or we are acting in “a pastorally wise and prudent” manner. Catholics and other Christians ought to communicate with their local Bishop and ask him to follow Cannon Law and the memo above, with respect to the pro-abortion Catholic politicians in their diocese.”

P.S. It is with deep distress and sorrow that I share with you the following: Same-sex marriage law was passed in New York State in June by misguided Knights of Columbus members. Corporate office in Connecticut tells us that we cannot expel them from membership in the Knights because they have not been excommunicated by the bishops. Something very similar happened in Massachusetts in 2007!
