#27 OF 45 - THIS UNHAPPY BOOK REPORT ON "THE POLITICAL POPE"

# 27 OF 45 - THIS UNHAPPY BOOK REPORT ON "THE POLITICAL POPE"
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOGSPOT.COM -
SATURDAY, DEC. 28, 2019
GEORGE NEUMAYR - "THE POLITICAL POPE" CENTER STREET, N.Y. 2017, EXCERPTS:
    Liberalizing Annulment Procedures p. 167 - 172
"Relations between Pope Francis and the canonical-legal community are strained," says canon lawyer Michael Dunnigan in an interview for this book. "Most of the Holy Father's references to law and lawyers are negative, and he seems to see law as almost the antithesis of mercy. Most canonists, by contrast, see the law itself as pastoral...." For all his talk of "collegiality," Pope Francis inserted these changes into canon law autocratically....

"Speaking to a group of priests and nuns at a pastoral conference in Rome in 2016, Pope Francis outraged Catholics by declaring that "the great majority" of Catholic marriages are invalid.... He mused that as Archbishop of Buenos Aires it was his practice to refuse to preside at "shotgun weddings." He didn't make it clear why the desire of a couple to provide an illegitimate child with a married mother and father constituted an unworthy motive for marriage....

'The pope was also remarkably blase about couples living together before marriage. He said the majority of couples in Buenos Aires taking marriage preparation courses were living together but he didn't consider that too worrisome. He told the priests at the pastoral conference not to press such couples to marry. They prefer to cohabitate, and this is a challenge , a task....

"He even praised some of these premarital relationships and implied that it didn't matter whether these couples get married in Church. "I've seen a lot of fidelity in these cohabitions, and I am sure that this is a real marriage, they have the grace of a real marriage because of their fidelity." To orthodox Catholics, the juxtaposition of these remarks with his claim that most sacramental marriages are invalid was deeply unsettling.... "I will be happy when this pontificate ends," says a priest interviewed for this book. "I have stopped paying attention to what he says. It is too painful." ...
The Liberalizing Synod on the Family

"The centerpiece of this permissive pontificate has been the pope's liberalizing Synod on the Family, which was a pretext to weaken the Church's sacramental discipline. Toward that end, he stacked the synod with proponents of situation ethics and dissenters from the pontificates of his predecessors.
A product of his team of ghostwriters and hand-picked delegates, the synod's preliminary report spoke of the "positive aspects" of premarital cohabitation and homosexual relationships. It passed the "precious support" homosexuals find in their relationships and condemned the Church for not turning "respectfully to those who participate in her life in an incomplete and imperfect way, appreciating the positive values they contain rather than their limitations and shortcomings." ...

"For the LGBT Catholics in the United States and around the world, this new document is a light in the darkness- a dramatic new tone from a church hierarchy that has long denied the very existence of committed and loving gay and lesbian partnerships" said Chad Griffin, President of Human Rights ...

"The controversial proposal at the heart of the Synod - the granting of Communion to the divorced and remarried - was also the shot down by the bishops. "Catholic bishops handed Pope Francis and embarrassing defeat Saturday by withholding support for one of his signature initiatives - a pathway for Catholics who have divorced and remarried to receive Communion - thus showing the strength of the conservative resistance to the pope's liberalizing agenda," reported The Wall Street Journal. ...

"Yet Kasper's proposal prevailed, shaping Pope Francis's post synodal apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia. Using vague language Pope Francis endorsed the proposal writing that "divorced who have entered a new union, for example, can find themselves in a variety of situations, which should not be pigeonholed or fit into overly rigid classification leaving no room for a suitable personal and pastoral discernment." ...  George H. # 36 OF 45 - THIS HAPPY BOOK REPORT ON PADRE PIO

# 36 OF 45 - THIS HAPPY BOOK REPORT ON PADRE PIO
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOGSPOT.COM THURS. DEC. 26/19
Chapter 15 - The Friar and the Archbishop - 185-188 - cont'd

"Although Gagliardi was never formally accused of homosexuality, there were numerous complaints that he showed a preference for priests who had been convicted of this vice. In a report made to the Vatican in 1927, it was alleged that Gagliardi refused to remove from his assignment as arch-priest Carpino convicted of sodomy in both the lower and appellate courts, and agreed to remove the man only when the priest was actually jailed.... It was further alleged that Gagliardi accepted expensive gifts from homosexual priests who received coveted appointments...

"Nevertheless, it was shortly after this that Gagliardi, in Agostino's words, 'began a sordid war" against Padre Pio, forwarding "countless letters full of accusations, exaggerations, libels - a true satanic war." Gagliardi wrote to the pope about Padre Pio's "horrible means of hearing confessions."... he could have been concerned with Pio's occasional impatience and by his tendency, occasionally, to dismiss without absolution those he believed impenitent. Nonetheless, the exact motivation behind the archbishop's "satanic war" is hard to fathom.

"Certainly, by the 1920s, however gifted and promising he had been in earlier years, Gagliardi, whether through mental instability, substance abuse, or sheer satanic perversity, was increasingly guilty of conduct unbecoming to a churchman....
Gagliardi was at the time celebrating Mass in a side chapel. A crowd of six hundred men, women, and children burst in on him and pelted him with stones and bricks. Despite the fact that the prelate was saying Mass, the mob charged the altar, grabbed his missal and paten, threw them at him, knocked him to the floor, and began to punch and kick him, until several priests intervened to drag the archbishop into an adjoining room, slamming the door against the raging mob....

"Although Padre Pio and his followers had absolutely nothing to do withe the Vieste riot, it is possible that Gagliardi associated him with the superstitious that had nearly led to his death or mutilation. The fact is that he continued to complain about the charismatic Capuchin to the Vatican. As long Pope Benedict lived, however, he did not get very far, for the pontiff, as we have seen, informed by reliable churchmen, stood firmly behind Padre Pio.
Chapter 16 - The Satanic War  p. 189-190

"The situation changed dramatically for Padre Pio when Pope Benedict died unexpectedly after a brief siege of pneumonia in January 1922, at the early (for a pope) age of sixty-seven. Elected as his successor was the archbishop of Milan, sixty-five-year-old Achille Ratti, the son of a textile worker, who took the name Pius XI... Too busy to look into the Padre Pio case, the pontiff decided to rely upon trusted aides to learn of the character and ministry of Padre Pio and to form a judgment on the growing concerning him. Unfortunately, among those upon whom Pius relied were Agostino Gemelli and Pasquale Gagliardi. ...

"According to Gagliardi, Padre Pio was more than a misguided, undereducated, superstitious backwoods friar; he was a demoniac. Gagliardi went to far as to denounce Padre Pio to the bishops and archbishops of the Congregation, which regulated all matters concerning the government of diocese. He insisted: Padre Pio is demon-possessed. I declare to you that he has a devil and the friars of San Giovanni Rotondo are a band of thieves. With my own eyes I saw Padre Pio perfume himself and put makeup on his face! All this I swear on my pectoral cross!"....

"Padre Pio had at least one friend at the meeting, Bishop Alberto Valbonesi, the Vatican canon who held the titular see of Memphis and who had visited San Giovanni a few years before. He was thoroughly disgusted with Gagliardi and wrote to Padre Pio, Pio's provincial, detailing the archbishop's charges...

TIME HAS COME FOR A MORE MILITANT CHURCH

TIME FOR A MORE MILITANT CHURCH
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOGSPOT.COM - SUN. DEC. 22/19
Excerpts and commentary from Taki Theodoracopulos article in "Chronicles" Dec. 2019 titled:
"Time for a More Militant Church" 50
1. The following was recently but ecstatically pronounced by the malignant, anti-white, anti-Christian and anti-male New York Times: "Perhaps for the first time since the United States was established a majority of young adults here do not identify as Christian."

Pray for Honest Journalism and for the Intercession of St. Padre Pio in Our Country's Election: R
2. Yes, you can read it right: the Sulzburger gang that owns the paper celebrates this sorry state of Christianity with a bold headline in its editorial pages. The columnist Nicholas Kristoff tries to underplay his joy by throwing the faithful a few crumbs, but one can sense his delight and his belief that Christianity is getting its just rewards. R
3. Another Times writer, the Irish Catholic Maureen Dowd, has gone one better. She's called the Catholic Church "a rotten institution," and never fails to flail the Church and to insult Christian believers. The newspaper's focus on the sexual scandals of the Catholic Church would be justified if it had investigated with equal vigor the reports of sexual abuse and drug running within the city's Hasidic religious community dating back to 1990s, including the bust of ultra-Orthodox rabbis for laundering drug money. R

4. No wonder the war against Christianity is being won by the secular left  - we Christians are sitting on our fannies and doing nothing about it. "What if Christians acted like Muslims do when their religion is being attacked?" I consider myself to be a devout Christian, so I wont go so far as those Muslims in Paris who murdered Charlie Hebdo journalists for making fun of Muhammad, but one has to admit they were effective: the French Media has not featured any satire of the prophet since.
5. Jews, too, are allowed to defend their religion to such a extent, that they can turn to the slighted hint of insult against a Jew into anti-Semitism. Perhaps Christians need to do the same. ...

6. As I write, a hatchet job on a man called Ralph Drollinger is spread over ten pages of The New York Times Magazine. His crime is that he teaches the gospel, holds bible meetings, and he is a devout Christian who has befriended Donald Trump. ... The writer could not pinpoint anything against Drollinger except his teaching the Bible and supporting the 45th President...
7. If faith is to provide moral guidance, I can not think of a better one then Christianity. Christians donate generously to all sorts of charities, and donate more by far than do secular Americans. Christian Churches across America provide a crucial safety net by providing food and shelter for the downtrodden.

8. Yet, because many church leaders have rightly resisted cheering for same-sex marriage and LGBTQ uni-bathrooms, and have shown support for the Donald, many bien pensant elites try to associate Christianity with hate rather than love. The war against Christianity did not come about by happenstance. Christianiaty preaches morality, and morality stands in the way of big business profit, especially for industries of fashion, filmaking, porn, gambling and the media.
9. Media outlets directed at the youth, such as Teen Vogue, have promoted homosexuality, transsexuality, and gender transition. At the same time, they have attacked relentlessly businesses that have any moral standards, as America's third largest restaurant chain recently discovered. The family owners of Chick-fil-A run their franchise as a Christian business, paying workers twice the national average, remaining closed on Sundays, and donating a share of their profits to Christian causes. [This may have changed.] This has outraged people who do not share their religious beliefs. In Britain, where the Church of England made sure God died long ago, Chick-Fil-A has been refused a lease in the city of Reading because of protests by gay-rights activists....

10. Here are my orders for a more militant Christianity: Don't be afraid to fight to defend our faith; don't hesitate to give your business to Chick-fil-A any time you crave chicken; and have a very Merry Christmas." Likewise!

George H. Kubeck "We vote politicians out of office. The time has come to turn the lights off for today's Pravda, "The New York Times."

A SCANDAL OF HISTORIC MAGNITUDE: GLENN GREENWALD

A SCANDAL OF HISTORIC MAGNITUDE: GLENN GREENWALD
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH- HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOGSPOT.COM - WED. DEC. 18/19

The Intercept: The Inspector General Report on 2016 FBI Spying Reveals a Scandal of Historic Magnitude: Not Only for the FBI but Also the U.S. Media, Glenn Greenwald, Dec. 12, 2019

"Just as was true when the Mueller investigation closed without  a single American being charged with criminally conspiring with Russia over the 2016 election, Wednesday's issuance of the long-waited report from the Department of Justice's Inspector General reveals that years of major claims and narratives from the U.S. media were utter frauds.

"Before evaluating the media component of this scandal, the FBI's gross abuse of its power - its serial deceit - is so grave and manifest that it requires little effort to demonstrate it. In sum, the IG Report documents multiple instances in which the FBI - in order to convince as FISA court to allow it spy on former Trump campaign operative Carter Page during the 2016 election - manipulated documents, concealed crucial exonerating evidence, and touted what it knew were unreliable if not outright false claims.

"If you don't consider FBI lying, concealment of evidence, and manipulation of documents in order to spy on a U.S. citizen in the middle of a presidential campaign to be a major scandal, what is? But none of this is aberrational: the FBI still has its headquarters in a building named after J. Edgar Hoover - who constantly blackmailed elected officials with dossiers and tried to blackmail Martin Luther King into killing himself - because that's what these security state agencies are. They are out of control, virtually unlimited police state factions that lie, abuse their spying and law enforcement powers, and subvert democracy and civic and political freedoms as a matter of course.

"In this case, no rational person should allow standard partisan bickering to distort or hide severe FBI corruption. The IG Report leaves no doubt about it. It is brimming with proof of FBI subterfuge and deceit, all in service of persuading a FISA court of something that was not true" that U.S. citizen and former Trump campaign official Carter Page was an agent of the Russian government and therefore needed to have his communications surveilled.

"Review of four FISA Applications and Other Aspects of the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane Investigation"
"Just a few excerpts from the report should suffice to end any debate for rational persons about how damning it is. The focus of the first part of the IG Report was on the warrants obtained by the DOJ, at the behest of the FBI, to spy on Carter Page on the grounds that there was probable cause to believe he was an agent was a widely disseminated media claim - typically asserted as fact even though it had no evidence. As a result of this media narrative, the Mueller investigation examined these widespread accusations yet concluded that "the investigation did not establish that Page coordinated with the Russian government in its efforts to interfere with the 2016 presidential election."
"The IG Report went much further, documenting a multitude of lies and misrepresentations by the FBI to deceive the FISA court into believing that probable cause existed to believe Page as a Kremlin agent. The first FISA warrant to spy on Page was obtained during the 2016 election, after Page had left the Trump campaign but weeks before the election was to be held.

"About the warrant application submitted regarding Page, the IF Report in its own words, "found that FBI personnel fell far short of the requirement in FBI policy that they ensure that all factual statements in the FIST application are 'scrupulously accurate'" Specifically, "we identified multiple instances in which factual assertions relied upon in the first FIST application were inaccurate, incomplete, or unsupported by appropriate documentation, based upon information the FBI had in its possession at the time the application was filed."

"It's vital to reiterate this because of its gravity: we identified multiple instances in which factual assertions relied upon in the first FIST application were inaccurate, incomplete, or unsupported by appropriate documentation, based upon information the FBI had in its possession at the time the application was filed."...                                                                                                                            George Kubeck "Today's impeachment hearings was a Democratic distraction of serious scandals.

IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOGSPOT.COM - TUES. DEC. 17/19
Chapter 15 The Friar and the Archbishop 181-188, excerpts
"Between 1919 and 1922, Padre Pio struggled to ignore the controversy that swirled about him. His life was the altar, the confessional, and the prayer chapel. He had time for little else, really, since by early 1920 he was working a nineteen-hour day... Yet even if he refused to carry on a correspondence with most of those who wrote to him, he promised nevertheless to "pray very hard for them, that they might be illuminated concerning the things they desire...

"Pio's spiritual life continued with its highs and lows. He agonized over "the failure of men to respond to heavenly favors." In October 1930, he wrote to Padre Benedetto: "The thought of being unable to bring spiritual relief to those that Jesus sends me, the thought of so many souls who foolishly want to justify their evil in defiance of their Chief Good afflicts me, tortures me, martyrs me, overcharges my mind, and rends my spirit ... I want to live, so as to be of use to my brethren in exile, and, on the other hand, I wish to die to be united with my heavenly Spouse."

"In the same vein the Capuchin stigmatist wrote, again to Benedetto, on November 20, 1921:
"Everything can be summed up in this: I am devoured by the love of God and love of my neighbor. God is always fixed in my mind and stamped in my heart. I never lose sight of Him. I can admire His beauty, His smiles, His vexation, His mercy, His vengeance, or, rather the rigor of justice....

"Meanwhile, the secular clergy, especially the canons, the priests on the staff of the cathedral of Manfredonia, continued to bombard with complaints about Padre Pio, Archbishop Don Giuseppe Prencipe, a man who seems to have supported whatever party had the upper hand, had, like much of his flock, taken to making his confessions to Padre Pio. He wrote in his diary that he recognized that he was "in the presence of a man graced with at extraordinary gift." In 1920 the forty-eight-old archpriest warned Padre Pio, "I'm under great pressure from the canons to denounce you, and you're not praying for me!""If I didn't pray, things would be worse" Pio explained. Principe was mollified, and for the time being leaned toward Padre Pio.

For the moment, any disturbances on the part of dissident and radical clergy were stifled by the terrible civil strife that was sweeping Italy and exploded with deadly violence in the heart of San Giovanni Rotondo. In the economic slump following the world war, Italy was plagued with strikes, lockouts, and labor violence. The Socialist won about a third of the seats in the 1919 parliamentary elections, and strife between that party and the increasingly powerful Fascists was growing.

In San Giovanni Rotondo, the Socialists were the extreme left-wing variety. Although they did not actually call themselves Communist, they openly promised to bring about a "soviet regime." ...
Despite Morcaldi (new mayor of San Giovanni Rotondo), efforts, the catastrophe occurred on October 14, Socialists tried to storm the city hall, haul down the flag of Italy, and replace it with the red flag of Marxism ... hordes of Fascists appeared on the scene, whereupon the two factions went at each other with sticks, stones and knives.... Within moments six people lay dead, seven more were dying, and more than eighty were injured. In tears, Morcaldi hurried to the friary, wailing, "Padre Pio! Padre Pio! What are we going to do?" Pio laid his hand on the mayor's shoulder and said, "Reconcile, my son, reconcile." Within a few days, Pio suggested a program of pacification to the mayor, Morcaldi announced the following proposals:

The inhabitants of San Giovanni were to be given a fuller voice in the municipal government...
A permanent Committee of Assistance was to be set up to aid the children of soldiers killed in war....
A system of good roads was to be built in the community and in the countryside...

At the centre of the nascent hostility toward Padre Pio was the sixty-year-old archbishop of Malfredonia, Monsignor Pasquale Gagliardi.... It was alleged that fairly early in his career as archbishop, Gagliardi had been arrested by civil authorities on charges of raping a nun but that he was no prosecuted. Apparently, even in his sixties, Gagliardi was on several occasions publicly accused o sexual molestations and unchastity. On one occasion Gagliardi's valet testified that his employer was sexually corrupt.... George H. Kubeck

A HAPPY SALUTE TO "THE WALL STREET JOURNAL" # 1 OF 2

A HAPPY SALUTE TO "THE WALL STREET JOURNAL" # 1 of 2
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOGSPOT.COM - FRI. DEC., 13/19

PREFACE:
What a breadth of fresh air I have had for the last four years reading the daily "Wall Street Journal." The Editorial page is a must, not only for reasonableness,  logic, common sense and closest to the truth.  And what a contrast this is to the mainstream media, the two-faced prostitute journalism and mouthpiece of the socialist agenda in America.
With the first, we find out what is happening not only in the America, but around the world, including Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia and Hong Kong. With the mainstream media, there is almost nothing at all. The American people deliberately kept ignorant of what's the reality there.

Here is the outstanding article from the editorial page of "The Wall Street Journal" Wed. Dec. 11, 2019:

THE IG, NUNES AND SCHIFF

"Monday's Justice Department Inspector General report on the FBI's Trump-Russia probe is illuminating in many ways, not least the light it casts on the previous claims by politicians when they were telling the public about what they saw in classified documents.House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff in particular has been exposed for distortions and falsehoods.

Americans first learned about the FBI's abuse of the FISA process in a February 2018 memo from then House Intelligence Chair Devin Nunes. The memo disclosed that the FBI had obtained surveillance warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court against former Trump aide Carter Page; that the dossier written by ex-British spook Christopher Steele and financed by the Clinton campaign had formed an "essential" part of that application had formed an "essential" part of that application; and that the FBI failed to tell the Fisa court about Mr. Steele's political and media ties.

This was news, but Mr. Schiff and Democrats called the Nunes memo false and weeks later released a rival summary of the classified FISA evidence. Now the IG has settled the debate by confirming the details in the Nunes memo and exposing Mr. Schiff's untruths.

The third line of the Schiff memo reads: FBI and DOJ officials did not abuse the [FISA] process, omit material information, or subvert this vital tool to spy on the Trump[ campaign." False. IG Michael Horowitz's report lists the many varied ways the FBI did all those.

This includes overstating Mr. Steele's credibility, omitting concerns about his sources, hiding exculpatory information, and even doctoring a document. The IG is concerned enough by "the extensive compliance failures" that he says he has begun "oversight" to assess FBI compliance "with policies that seek to protect the civil liberties of U.S. person."...

George H. Kubeck

From the Horowitz hearing,  I believe the FBI is handicapped with their political correctness training. This is a most serious matter. One needs to call a spade, a spade. I wonder if "The Witness" by Whittaker Chambers is still on their required reading material. There is another book that is an absolute necessity. I refer to the White House Comment line Tel. No. 1-202-456-1111.

On Sept. 4, 5, 6, 9, 2019, I shared the following: " Dear President Trump and Vice-President Pence. "Here is my daily reminder prior to 9/11. "Please call for the required reading of Romerstein's book, "The Verona Secrets"  and the exposure of ANTIFA as a terrorist organization by the F.B.I. and thereby protect all Police and Security Departments in our country, and also have the freedom to express our beliefs without violence for all Americans in the public arena." This comment probably never reached them.

Mainly, a shared commitment to left-wing politics....He also proposed during the trip that environmentalism be added to the Beatitudes, which caused the Wall Street Journal to remark "his suggestion that Jesus' words don't merely need reinterpretation but updating was a rhetorical move only slightly less ambitious than proposing and Eleventh Commandment...

"This pope is an indifferentist," said a senior churchman interviewed for this book. "We have already had an infallible response to the errors of Martin Luther:The Council of Trent," and Bishop Athanasius Schneider from Kazakhastan during talk in Washington, DC. "The teaching of the Council of Trent about the errors of Luther, I repeat are infallible, ex cathedra. And the comments of the pope in the plane are not ex cathedra."

"One Hell of an Ecumenical Mess

"The religious relativism of Pope Francis is complicating his relationship with conservatives, both non-Catholic and Catholic. In 2016, it appeared that the Society of Pius X was on the verge of returning to a regular canonical relationship with the Church. But the doctrinal confusion of this pontificate has caused the traditionalist group to hesitate. Bishop Bernard Fellay, the leader of the order, has said that it has been discouraged by the "great and painful confusion that currently reigns in the Church."...

"Rabbi Abraham Skorka, one of the pope's close friends, has said that Francis's view of "evangelization" is aimed not at converting non-Christians, but convincing Christians to embrace "social justice." "This is the new evangelization that Bergoglio is stressing - not to evangelize Jews," he said. "This he told me, on several opportunities."... Liberal politics, not the salvation of soul, preoccupies Francis's Vatican...

Soft toward Everyone but Traditionalists

"The only religious group whom Pope Francis dares to critique are fellow Catholics. Thye come in for frequent scoldings from him for their "rigidity." On numerous occasions, he has blasted them for adherence to the "law." In 2016, he even described as "heretical" for not appreciating his loose interpretation of Catholicism. The essence of Catholicism, he said strangely, lies in accepting ambiguity...
"Early in his papacy, Pope Francis, was captured on videotape belittling an altar boy for holding his hands together piously. Were they stuck together, he asked the bewildered boy. Another time he mocked a Catholic group or sending him a note its members had recited thousands of rosaries for him."

Chapter 10 - The Permissive Pope .165 -6

"In the "ten tips to happiness" that he offered during a 2014 interview with the Argentinian weekly Viva, Pope Francis gave as the first tip: "live and let live." That permissive spirit explains why the mainstream media often calls him the "cool" pope.... Historians have established that bad popes of the past committed mortal sins. But Francis is the first pope to bless sins. He has become notorious for giving scandalous advice to Catholics in adulterous relationship.... When she told him that that her local priest objected to her reception of Communion, Pope Francis replied, "There are some priests who are more papist than the Pope."

Liberalizing Annulment Procedures
"In 2015, Pope Francis announced that he was liberalizing the Church's annulment procedures, pushing through permissive changes that cannon lawyers have described as the most significant alteration to those procedures in four hundred years... Liberals inside and outside the Church cheered the changes, describing them as "pastoral" and a "Catholic version of no-fault Catholic divorce." ....

A CALL FOR THE WISDOM FROM OUR EARLIEST AMERICANS

A CALL FOR THE WISDOM FROM OUR EARLIEST AMERICANS
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONE.BLOGSPOT.COM - SAT. DEC. 7 /19
THE GLORY OF AMERICA (A CALENDER) BY PETER MARSHAL & DAVID MANUEL, 1999
Preface: Dec. 7, Daniel Webster, Federer  America's, 671.
"If religious books are not widely circulated among the masses in this country, I do not know what is going to become of us as a nation. If truth be not diffused, error will be: If God and His Word are not known and received, the devil and his works will gain the ascendancy:
If the evangelical volume does not reach every hamlet, the pages of a corrupt and licentious literature will: If the power of the Gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation, and misery, corruption and darkness reign without mitigation end."
Dec. 5, Lyman Beecher, writing in his newspaper The Spirit of the Pilgrims, stated in 1831"
"The government of God is the only government which will hold society, against depravity within and temptation without: and this must d by the force of its own law written upon the heart. This is that unity of the Spirit and that bond of peace which can alone perpetuate national purity and tranquility - that law of universal and impartial love by which alone nations can be kept from ruin. There is no safety for republics but in self-government, under the influence of a holy heart, swayed by the government of God." Miller, Life,, Vol. 1, 36
Dec. 4, John Cotton, the great Puritan preacher, was born on this day in 1585. He said:
"But ever let the name of the Lord be your strong tower, and the word of His promise, the rock of your refuge. His word that made heaven and earth will not fail, till heaven and earth be no more."
"If God make a covenant to be a God to thee and thine, then it is thy part to see to it that thy children and servants be God's people." Morison, Winthrop, 25
Dec. 2, In the early years of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, when families wanted to settle in the wilderness, they first gathered into churches which would eventually grow into towns. But increasingly, some independent men just went off on their own. Puritan minister John Cotton said of them:"But when men thus depart, God usually followeth them with a bitter curse: either taking their lives away from them, or blasting them with poverty, or exposing them to scandal where they come, or in entertaining them from such restless agitations that they are driven to repent of their former rashness, and many times return to the church from which they had broken away." Foster, Way, 58.
Nov. 28, People wonder how the Pilgrims came to be called, when originally they called themselves Separatists, for having separated themselves from the Church of England. The expression may have come from something Bradford wrote, as they were traveling by barge to the coast of Holland, where they would board the Mayflower.
"The knew they were Pilgrims, and looked not much on those things, but lifted up their eyes to the heavens, their dearest country, and quieted their spirits." Bercovitch, Typology, 104
Nov. 27, When the pilgrims brought in their first harvest, it was so beautiful that they decided to have a time of giving thanks. They invited their Indian friends to join them - and were inwardly dismayed when 90 braves arrived. But these had brought deer and wild turkey. There was more than enough for all. The next year, after being reduced to near starvation in the winter, the Pilgrims experienced a record harvest, and planned a second Day of Thanksgiving. They began by giving each person five kernels of corn on it - which had been their ration that winter, when things were at their lowest ebb. Marshall and Manuel, TLTG, 135-36; 143-44
Nov. 25, In the little colony they called Plymouth Plantation, the Pilgrims practiced their faith, not only with their lips but in their lives. Recalling their life together, their perennially re-elected Governor William Bradford, would one day write:

"Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are: as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation; let the glorious name of Jehovah have all the praise."  Bradford, Of Plymouth Plantation, 230    George H. BILL BARR FLAMES 'UNREMITTING ASSAULT ON RELIGION, TRADITIONAL VALUES

BILL BARR FLAMES 'UNREMITTING ASSAULT' ON RELIGION, TRADITIONAL VALUES
Daily Caller - https://dailycaller.com - Devin Daley, October 12, 2019

"Concerted attacks on religious liberty have triggered a moral upheaval that contributes to deadly social pathologies," Attorney General William Barr said Friday at the University of Notre Dame.
"The imperative of protecting religious freedom was not just a nod in the direction of piety," Barr said. "It reflects the farmers' belief that religion was indispensable to sustaining our fee system of government."

"The attorney general said numerous measures of social decline are rising as religion recedes from public life, citing higher incidence of drug addiction, mental illness, and suicide. These outcomes are not random, but the fruit of a dedicated campaign against orthodox religious belief Barr added.
"This is not decay," Barr said. "This is organized destruction. Secularists and their allies have marshaled all the forces of mass communication, popular culture, the entertainment industry, and academia in an unremitting assault on religion and traditional values.        Barr said state government and municipal agencies have been at the vanguard of that effort, noting the board of Education in Orange County, California, recently decided religious dissenters may not excuse their children from portions of school curriculum broaching LGBT issues. School are usual forum for attacks on religious liberty, Barr said.

In that connection, the attorney general noted the Department of Justice recently intervened in a dispute between a gay teacher and a Catholic high school near Notre Dame. The case arose when the Archdiocese of Indianapolis directed Cathedral High School to dismiss a teacher in a public, same-sex marriage or forfeits its Catholic affiliation. The high school did so. The teacher, Joshua Payne-Elliott, sued the school in turn.
The Justice Department filed a statement of interest in the case Sept. 27, arguing that the lawsuit suppresses the archdiocese's First Amendment right to expressive association, and impermissibly asks the court to interfere with internal church matters.

"The First Amendment precludes this court, a state actor, from cooperating in plaintiff's attempt to stifle the archdiocese' First Amendment right to expressive association," the filing reads. "The First Amendment also precludes the court from entangling itself in a quintessentially ecclesiastical question: whether the archdiocese properly interpreted and applied Catholic doctrine. The First Amendment commits that question exclusively to the ecclesiastical tribunals of the church."....
AG WILLIAM BARR SPEAKS AT ND, SAYS SECULAR CULTURE IS 'ATTACKING RELIGION'
By Monica Murphy, posted Fri. Oct. 11, 2019 Notre Dame, Ind. (WNDU)

Law students, the De Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture Group and invited guests listened to Barr speak. For the last five decades, Barr said religion has been under attack, adding the secular culture is growing. "Modern secularists dismiss this idea of morality as otherworldly superstition imposed by a killjoy clergy; but in fact, Judeo-christian moral standards are the ultimate utilitarian for human conduct," Barr said.

He even claimed secular values are being forced on people, especially students. "For example, New Jersey recently passed a law requiring schools to adopt a LGBT curriculum that many feel is inconsistent with traditional Christian teaching," Barr said. Barr, a devout, said the "traditional order is shaken and encouraged the crowd to keep faith and values alive.
"In other words, religion helps frame a moral; culture within society that instills and reinforces moral discipline," he said. Meanwhile, outside the courtroom, around 40 people took to the streets to protest Barr's visit to Notre Dame.... Back in the courtroom, Barr made a promise in his closing remarks:
"I can assure you that as long as I am attorney general, that the Department of Justice will be the forefront of this effort, ready to fight for the most cherished of all American liberties: the freedom to live according to our faith," he said.
