FOCUS: THE CATHOLIC-IN-NAME-ONLY POLITICIAN #1

FOCUS: THE CATHOLIC-IN-NAME-ONLY POLITICIAN # 1
IN PURSUIT OF THE TRUTH - HTTP://WWW.CINOPSBEGONEBLOLGSPOT.COM - FRI.,AUG. 24, 2018
Preface:
At Mass this morning in the Magnificat,  there is a significant article titled, "The Restlessness of Nathaniel" by Pope Francis.  There is a restlessness about this topic. Who am I to judge?
Wanted:  A Christian writer to write a history of "The Catholic-in-name-only Politician," in America during the last 50 years. It would be a best seller. Why? We never hear of an Evangelical-in-name-only-Politician.
What was the CINOP's  influence on the American Catholic Church, Catholic organizations, and on our  nation. Let's reference specifically Canon law 915 which states in part that those who are "obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion. We focus on the absolute evils promoted not the prudential ones.

In my view a CINOP should not use the Catholic name when he runs for office. It' s like "Buy the Union Label." It is a fraud to sell a product marked Union when it is made by a non-union work place.
Also, the CINOP does not adhere to St. John Paul 11's "Catechism of the Catholic Church."

Years ago,  a  CINOP recommended that I refer to Ex- Governor Mario Cuomo of New York. He is the patron saint of the CINOP. I just read Cuomo's talk at Notre Dame, September 13, 1984 titled, "Religious Belief and Public Morality: A Catholic Governor's Perspective." May I quote one sentence. "The seamless garment" that Cardinal Bernadin has spoken of is a challenge to all Catholics in public office, conservatives as well as liberals."
The truth hurts. I recall, many years ago, Cardinal Mahoney made a very serious mistake in blocking the Knights of Columbus from expelling a CINOP from our membership. It is common sense that today, any future CINOP should not be admitted. I believe that St. John Paul 11 expects U.S. Catholic bishops  make religious decisions not political on Canon 915 which states in part that those who are "obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to Holy Communion."

For example, Here are some excerpts from a letter on this blog 11 years ago:                                        "Catholic Democrats Scold Pope on Abortion" - Mon., June 4, 2007.

"It all began May 9th, on the plane flight from Rome to Brazil, Pope Benedict XVI was asked by the reporter what he thought of the warning of excommunication Mexican bishops gave to Catholic politicians who support legalize abortion.
"The Pope was emphatic: 'Yes, this excommunication was not an arbitrary one but is allowed by Canon law which says that the killing of an innocent child is incompatible with receiving communion, which is receiving the body of Christ.... They (the bishops) simply announced publicly what is contained in the law of the Church.' ...

"But it wasn't Giuliani who scolded Pope Benedict XVI. America's mayor went out of his way to say, "I don't get into debates with the Pope. That is not a good idea...."
Some Catholic Democrats see things differently. On May 14, eighteen Catholic Democrats in the House issued a statement condemning the Pope for his comments. Excommunication, their statement reads, would offend the very nature of the American experiment and do a great disservice to the centuries of good work the Church has done. (Left-wing Hogwash)
The leader of the 'Catholic 18" is Rep. Rosa Delauro (D-Ct) who was joined by well known pro-aborts such as Kennedy (D-RI), and Linda Sanchez (D-Ca)  ... Except for two, Reps. Tim Ryan (D-OH) and James Langevin (D-RI) all have dismal voting records on Catholic issues where Church teaching is absolutely clear
1. Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act - passage (110th). 2. Marriage Amendment Act (110th)
3. Terri Schiavo: Federal court review (109th) 4. Child Intestate Abortion Notification Act (109th)
5. Abortion in military medical facilities (109th)
6. Coercive abortion/United Nations Population Fund (109th)
7.  Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act: passage 109th) 8. Human Cloning Ban: passage (108th)
9. Partial-Birth Abortion Ban: passage (108th) 10. Unborn Victims of Violence (108th)

George H. Kubeck
P.S. Many American Catholic voters believe that the CINOP is pro-life. That is a lie.
