Four Characteristics of the Liberal Mind that Are Destroying Society by John Horvat - Crusade Magazine March - April 2019  - Tradition -Family and Property -

Preface: This is one of the best I have found.

 

1. A Gradualist Progression Away from the Truth:

 

     One characteristic of the liberal mind is its gradualist progression away from the objective truth. In its early stages, the liberal mind does not deny the existence of objective truth outright. Instead, liberals deplore its rigidity.

    Instead they offer half-truths that mitigate the hard hearted attitudes of conservatives, smoothing the slide into error. The liberal mind likewise does not initially embrace error but is drawn toward and harbors sympathy for it.

    Thus the liberals might defend private property; but support excessive taxation on those who have large properties. They would expose crime but propose leniency for felons because of imagined injustices they might have suffered. The liberal mind is constantly looking for half-truths to appear more compassionate and kind.

 

2. Searching for Conclusions That Please:

 

    A second characteristic of the liberal mind is that it does not seek objective and external truths truths that explain reality. Liberals seek instead only those conclusions that please them. They search for perspectives that fit their temperaments, lifestyles and ways of being. These are the thoughts that guides their lives.

    This liberal mind is perfectly expressed by the famous Supreme Court decision in Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v.Casey which stated: "At the heart of liberty is the right to define one's own concept of existence of the universe, and of the mystery of human life."

 

3. A Distorted Vision of Freedom:

 

    The Liberal mind gives rise to a mode of action which is easily defined. The foundation of liberal action is a distorted vision of freedom that consists of doing only what one wants to do. Thus, liberal action tends to be relativistic and subjective, following the whims of the individual. It can be imaginative and fantasy-driven when a person takes the action to its final consequences.

    Liberal action is also characterized by a spirit of doubt toward that which does not correspond to personal whims. Such doubt, however, is never directed toward that which does not please liberal whim.

 

4. A Dislike of Rules and Laws:

 

    The final characteristic of the liberal mind is a dislike of rules and laws. Law by definition is restrictive. Law consists of those reasonable precepts coming from a competent authority to which all must conform for the sake of the common good. Rules and laws upset the liberal mind, which feels attacked by them.

    Thus, liberals dislike anything that imposes restraint such as laws, manners or morals. In more advanced stages, even the restrictive nature of clothing or grammar can irritate the sensibilities of the liberal mindset.

    This, explains the liberal hostility to the Church and traditional notions of religion. God is the First Lawgiver and punishes those who sin against His Commandments. The liberal mind prefers a god for whom nothing is a sin. This god is one of the liberals own making. In their view, he radiates compassion not justice.

A COMMON TRAIT:

While these four psychological characteristics differ, they do have a common trait. They all are self-centered.... the dictates of each individual's ideas, tastes, and desires...each person determines right and wrong, truth and error.  

B The Descent to Anarchy:

    Up to this point the liberal order has survived because it lived off of the firm foundations of a Christian moral order... natural law and other institutions served to temper the disordered ideas, tastes and desires of individuals... The problem today is that half-truths now dominate and error is pushing he envelope ever closer to chaos....

In 2015, Rolling Stone ran a cover story on the pope, titled "Pope Francis: The Times They Are A-Changin'," which praised him for scolding conservative Catholics and drawing attention to "income equality." The article glorified in his utility to their hip causes. The libertine magazine also found much to approve in his past, such as the time he mocked Church leaders by saying they "want to stick the whole world inside a condom."

 

Rock stars and celebrities, excited by the progressive and permissive direction of the papacy, now visit the Vatican Chapel for first time to a rock performer, David Evans, aka "The Edge," from band U2.

 

In 2016, Pope Francis handed out awards to actors George Cloony, Richard Gere, and Salma Hayek fo their promotion of the arts through a papal charity called Scholars Occurrentes. While he didn't mind receiving the help of these socially liberal celebrities, he drew the line a donation from the government of the "center-right" president of Argentina, Mauricio Macri, who gave the organization $1.2 million. Pope Francis made a show of returning that donation. "Critics of the Macri administration said the Pope's rejection of the donation reflected his distaste for the president's introduction of austerity measures," reported the Guardian.

The "Cool pope" and Feminism

The "cool" pope often pays homage to modern feminism and criticizes his predecessors for their alleged sexism. He has said " that the feminine presence in the Church has not fully emerged because the temptation of machismo has not left space to make visible the role women are entitled to within the community.' He has also said that "women in the Church are more important than bishops and priests."

 

In 2016, Vatican launched a magazine called Women-Church-World  which had begun as a supplement in L'Osservatore Romano, to provide feminists with a platform to criticize the Church. In its first edition, the magazine editorialized that the Church's life. In its previous supplement form, it had run an article in favor of women preaching at Masses, which canon law forbids....

 

"The Meetin is the Message"

The leftist press also admires the audiences that he grants to avant-garde activists. For a pope who likes to say that the "meeting is the message," these encounters clearly hold subversive value to him. For example, in 2015, he granted the transgender activist Diego Lejarraga an audience after Lejarraga complained in a letter that the Church had "marginalized" him. According to Lejarraga, Pope Francis phoned him twice after receiving his letter and then invited him to the Vatican. Lejarraga told the Spanish press that Francis reassured him that God loves all his children "as they are" and the "Church loves you and accepts you as you are."...

 

Yet when it leaked out during his visit to America that Pope Francis had met Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk imprisoned briefly for declining to issue gay-marriage licenses, the liberal elite expressed disappointed in the cool pope. But he moved quickly to win back their affection. He authorized his press secretary to spin the meeting as a meaningless gesture, akin to a random rope line greetings....

 

Once liberals heard these reports, he returned to their good graces. As one liberal pundit put it to his colleagues, only half-facetiously, "You Can Like the Pope Again! Vatican Distances Pope from Kim Davis." A grateful cast on NBC's Saturday Night Live depicted Pope Francis in a skit untangling himself from Kim Davis's embrace....

The Church Muddled

St. Ignatius established the Jesuit order to advance the "Church militant." But Pope Francis in a bid to be popular wit the liberal elite, prefers a Church muddled....

Chapter 17 - The Miracle Worker  199- 205

"Despite disruptions, restrictions, and controversies, Padre Pio's ministries went on. Although he retained what his followers called a holy serenity, his heart was not made of stone, and he was at times deeply grieved. In December 1922, in the midst of the Gagliardi-Gemellia affair, he wrote bishop Costa: "At present I am passing through a period of continuous mortification.... Pray to the Lord that ....He might free me immediately from this harsh prison and from this body of death, calling me to Himself. I definitely cannot stand this any longer!"

 

Although the Holy Office forbade him to answer their letters, people from all over the world continued to write to Padre Pio, unburdening their hearts and asking for his prayers. The letters were not only from the humble but from the mighty as well. In March 1923, a letter arrived none other than King Alfonso XIII of Spain....

 

The case of Sister Teresa Salvadores is typical of many cures wrought through the prayers of Padre Pio, in which sufferers were relieved, for long periods of time, from the pain and incapacity of a disease that clinically  remained unchanged....

 

A similar occurrence was related to Charles Mortimer Carty, an American priest, by his friend, Monsignor Luigi D'Indico of Florence. On July 21, 1921, before Padre Pio was forbidden to show his stigmata, the monsignor was alone in his study, quite worried about sister in the same town who was gravely ill.Suddenly, as D'Indico later told Carty, he felt the sensation of having someone on his back. Turning, he saw a man in monk's attire who then vanished into thin air. Thinking he was losing his mind he went to the chaplain... The Chaplain dismissed the phenomena as a phenomenon as a hallucination brought on by anxiety and overwork.

 

After his talk with the chaplain, D'Indico decided to call on his sister. The sister who had been inb a deep coma, was now, to his happy amazement, conscious and quit lucid. She reported seeing a monk in her room at the very moment her brother was having his "hallucinations." Don't be afraid," the monk told her. "Tomorrow your fever will disappear and after a few days there will be no trace of your illness on your body. "Are you a saint?" asked the sick woman. "No," said the mysterious monk, "I am a creature who serves the Lord through His mercies." "Let me kiss your habit, Father," said the monsignor's sister. "Kiss the sign of the Passion," he said, & revealed hands exhibiting the stigmata...

 

Padre Alberto D'Apolito, when an altar boy of fourteen,witnessed an exorcism conducted by Padre Pio on a Sunday afternoon in May 1922: "After Vespers and Benediction...we returned to the sacristy, where we found a possessed woman, who upon seeing Padre Pio , began to scream and curse.

Padre Pio, impassive and serene , took the book in his hands and began the exorcisms among the screams, the curses, and the foul words of the possessed woman. Suddenly she came forth with a very loud scream and, by an invisible force, was raised in the air with a height of three feet. At that moment everyone began to run with fear. Padre Pio without getting upset, continued the exorcism with faith and energy, in a ruthless struggle with the devil, who, finally vanquished, freed the woman....

 

Padre Pio was troubled by his occasional outbursts of impatience. In June 1920, he had written to Padre Benedetto, "My only regret is that, involuntarily and unwittingly, I sometimes raise my voice when correcting people. I realize this is a shameful weakness, but how can I prevent it if it happens without my being aware of it? Although I pray and groan and complain to our Lord about it. He has not yet heard me fully. Moreover, in spite of my watchfulness, I sometimes do what I really detest and want to avoid." Benedetto had written back. "Don't be upset concerning those outbursts, although you should never be satisfied with them. If the Lord doesn't give you the grace of inexhaustible and continues gentleness, it is in order to leave you a means to practice holy humility." ...

    The Association sent a delegation to the archbishop, Gagliardi smiled an unctuous smile and told them, "I will do everything possible to prevent the removal of Padre Pio," adding. "Since, however, such measures do not come from my initiative, I will send my secretary to Rome at once to plead the cause of the People's Association to the minister general of the Capuchins." When the delegation left, however, Gagliardi turned to an aide and snapped. "The next time these blinking Sangiovennnese come here. I'll call the police....

 

    The People's Association, through Brujnatto, was aware of everything. To prevent the transfer, three of Padre Pio's closest followers headed for Rome: Brunatto to see Padre Gemelli; Francesco Morcaldi to Donato Cardinal Sbaretti, prefect of the Congregation of the Council (which oversaw, among other things, the discipline of the clergy); an Don Giuseppe Orlando to see Don Alessandro Lottini of the Holy Office....

 

    This was illustrated only too vividly on August 10, during Vespers. Padre Pio was about to bless the faithful from the altar with the Blessed Sacrament enclosed in a receptacle called a monstrance. He had opened the tabernacle, which contained the consecrated Communion wafers, and was about to place on of them in the monstrance when a man, identified only as Donato, a bricklayer, lunged forward and, brandishing a revolver, leveled it at Padre Pio's head. "Either dead or alive," he shouted, "you're going to with us in this town!" The frenzied declaration of the would-be assassin gave worshipers and police the chance to wrestle him to the ground before he could squeeze the trigger, but the incident only underscored the explosive nature of the situation.

 

    Pio, who must have been badly shaken, pleaded for mercy for his assailant. That night he put his thoughts in writing: Lord, what would these people want of me? ... Tomorrow may bring I don't know what where my superiors are going to send me. As a faith son of holy obedience, I will obey without a murmur....

 

    Doubtless the murder attempt impressed Padre Giusepantonio as to the truth in Dr. Camilleri's warning, for August 17 a telegram arrived from the Holy Office stating that the transfer order was suspended until further notice.

 

   ... The cardinal told her that he was present at an important meeting with Pope Pius XI during the summer of 1923. The Holy Office had been debating what to do with Padre Pio. Pius himself tended to think of Padre Pio as a fanatic, willing to incite a riot rather than be transferred. ... Pope Pius announced that he was ready to suspend Padre Pio a divinis (that is, from all priestly functions). Suddenly while he was speaking, a Capuchin friar appeared knelt, and kissed his feet, saying only, "Your Highness for the good of the Church, do not take this course of action." He then asked the pope's blessing, kissed his feet, rose, and left.

 

    "Who let that friar in?" the pontiff demanded. The prelates ran outside the meeting room to upbraid the guards for letting the friar in. ... all strenuously denied having seen any friar enter.... After that, Pius said no more about suspending Padre Pio from his priestly faculties... Padre Pio's trouble were far from over!

Working through the occupation authorities (where the saner military were unable to interfere), they conducted a witch-hunt against monarchist in Austria (thus continuing brown policies). They (mainly the British Labor government) also prevented the return o the South Tyrol to Austria. Self-determination was desirable only, if seemed, if it benefited leftist causes.  ...

 

    Leftist control of foreign policy was apparent everywhere. UNRRA, an American organization designed to aid "displaced" persons, repeatedly demonstrated pro-communist proclivities. Fiorello La Guardia, who directed its activities, was strongly inclined to the left....

 

    The leftist mind is driven by two conflicting characteristics - an impractical utopian idealism and a lack of a sense of honor. As a rule, idealism and honor are joined. Don Quixote was not practical, but he was a man of honor: Sancho Panza scoffed at honor, but he was a realist. The typical leftist is a dreamer without honor, and that is a troubling combination.

 

    In this respect, the advice of Franklin Delano Roosevelt to Pius XII come to mind. In various letters, the President tried to convince the Pope that he ought to face facts and realize that his picture of the Soviet Union was obsolete, no longer valid; the USSR was, under Stalin, a demonstrably liberal democracy....

 

    More blunders [for the U.S.A.] were made in the succeeding years, the failure of nerve during the Hungarian Revolution; the bungling that was involved in the Suez crisis; the disaster at the Bay of Pigs. .. Perhaps was the horrible error perpetrated in Vietnam in the early days of that tragic war. In 1963, LEFTIST propaganda portrayed Ngo Dinh Diem as "Roman Catholic dictator" oppressing benign Buddhist monks. [Diem was deliberately assassinated.] ...

 

    But the leftists, propelled by malicious impulses, have left their imprint on a troubled world. The negative, the blinding effects of leftism even in its modern form, derive mainly from envy and jealousy,the dynamic forces of the Left. This is the dynamic element that links the whole sequence of revolution from 1789 to 1917 and 1933. Envy and jealousy can dominate not only internal politics but, even more profoundly, foreign affairs...,

 

    Today, world conflicts take place on several levels. The time of the old-fashioned cabinet wars is over, war has become total, partly because technology has produced staggering means of destruction, partly because of the withering away of religion, enabling totalitarian ideologies, capable of mobilizing the masses and fanaticing pragmatists, to fill the vacuum....the words of Rivarol "Politics is like the Sphinx: It devours all those who cannot solve its riddles."

    The study of foreign history and geography is weak in American as well as in British schools. As already mentioned, in American schools European history is often taught as "French history with frills."...

There is another fateful shortcoming in conservative thought. Whereas leftist in the United States have always been internationally oriented, American conservatives have tended to nationalistic, introspective, and isolationist....

 

    Leftist soil also nurtured the first growth of anti-intellectualism in the United States. It hangs together, and reaches out to the early years of the nation when attitudes were slightly different. In his remarks on foreign countries, for instance, Jefferson proved he was a fanatic nationalist and, as Professor Richard Hofstadter so convincingly demonstrated, in the United States anti-intellectualism goes hand-in-hand with democracy. In America, moreover, intellectuality was originally considered an aristocratic vice.... the early democratic element of the United States, the frontiersmen, had neither the time nor disposition to scan foreign horizon....

 

    Another factor that split American society was the international character of America's Socialism as against protectionist of the American manufacturer. Matters worsened with the continuous flow of new ideologies imported into America by immigrants from the continent these new Weltanschauungen. strongly political and with an extremist or radical bias ran counter to many facets of "Americanism"and, to a large extent, of American folklore...

 

    By the early twentieth century the internationally minded forces in America were Marxist Left, the anarchist Left , the moderate, unorthodox left - radical democrats, suffragettes, Single Taxers, the Catholic Church (with all sorts of metal reservations) - and a great part of American Jewry. And the more these groups cast glances, Latin America, and Asia, the stiffer the average solid "conservative' American became in his retrospective parochialism.... Thus, not surprisingly, American foreign policy followed a leftist pattern...

 

    In 1938 the State Department was not yet the happy hunting ground of the leftists, but their critique of it was increasing by leaps and bounds. As a result a leftist administration started a series of successive purges that increasingly gave the State Department a leftist character...

 

    During the crucial years from 1933 to 1953, Democratic administrations appointed many leftist professors, such as William E. Dodd, as well as leftist millionaires of the Joseph E. Davis type. These appointees  driven by their missionary zeal and their fatal vanity, fortunately often gave voice in print to their impressions, actions, and reactions - marvelous revelations of the monumental ignorance of the Left in the historic field of international relations....

I am elated with Governor Deukmejian's proposal to phase out and eliminated the state's collective bargaining law (S.B. 160) for public schools.... [The proposal failed.]

    Firstly, industrial type unionism was never intended for public employees, least of all teachers. For over a hundred years NEA and CTA had fought the inroads of unionism in public education, and then they changed to become a union.

 

Secondly, why should the taxpayers money be used to legalize and continue the ten year unionization process of the professional school teacher. The present law discriminates against the freedom and independence of the professional school teachers.

    There are many teachers who don't believe in the principle of adversary relationship, strikes, or coercion that forces another teacher to join a union that he doesn't believe in. Besides the principle of adversarial relationship is divisive and destructive to the profession and the public school system.

 

    Let us legalize the principle of cooperation and freedom for teachers to choose the organization of their choice with payroll deductions of dues & proportional representation on the negotiating council.

The Meet and Confer Process can be made to work effectively, and fairly. I believe this in the best interests of all the participants who work and pay for the public education of school children.

The ratio of liberals to conservatives is 151 to 17 at Stanford and 141 to 9 at UCLA. 92.67% of all UCLA law employees' political contribution went to Democratic and affiliated groups. The Rodda Act of 1975 signed by the notorious CINOP Governor Jerry Brown made this possible. Unionism changed  educators in our Universities to become political hacks, and our children suffer for it.

    REASONABLE MEN AND WOMEN CAN COME TO SOME KIND OF AGREEMENT WHEN THEY EVALUATE A LAW THAT HAS BEEN IN EXISTENCE FOR ABOUT TEN YEARS.

 

    THE LAW OF 1976 HAS LEGALIZED WITHIN THE PUBLIC PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM, I REPEAT LEGALIZED, 1.) ADVERSARY RELATIONSHIP 2.) EXCLUSIVITY, 3. AGENCY FEES, 4.) COERCION, INDIRECT AND DIRECT TO JOIN THE EXCLUSIVE TEACHER ORGANIZATION.

 

    BY LEGALIZING THESE FOUR NEGATIVE PRINCIPLES, THE LAW IS CHANGING THE NATURE OF THE TEACHING PROFESSION AND POLITICIZING IT.

 

    FROM 1964 TO 1969, I WAS A VOLUNTARY MEMBER OF THE NEA AND CTA. [AND THE WESTMINSTER TEACHER ASSOCIATION]. FOR OVER A HUNDRED YEARS THESE TWO PROFESSIONAL TEACHER ORGANIZATION FOUGHT THESE FOUR NEGATIVE PRINCIPLES, AND THEN THEY CHANGED TO BECOME A UNION. I DID NOT RENEW MY MEMBERSHIP BECAUSE I WAS NOT GOING TO ACCEPT ADVERSARY RELATIONSHIP, EXCLUSIVITY, AGENCY FEES, AND COERCION AS PART OF MY TEACHING PROFESSION.

 

    IS IT POSSIBLE THAT INDUSTRIAL TYPE UNIONISM WAS NEVER INTENDED FOR PUBLIC EMPLOYEES, LEAST OF ALL TEACHERS. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT UNIONISM IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR IS NOT A SACRED COW AND NEEDS TO BE EVALUATED AND DISCUSSED OPENLY.

    THE SCHOOLS BELONG TO THE PUBLIC. TEACHERS ARE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES FIRST AND FOREMOST. THEY OUGHT NOT TO BE FORCED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD TO JOIN AND PAY AN ORGANIZATION THAT THEY DO NOT BELIEVE IN.

Even though Padre Pio was supposed to be celebrating Mass at irregular times, the faithful seemed to have a good idea when to expect him, for, on June 25, 1923, a crowd was waiting for him to appear in church... "Padre Pio did not come to church. He had received the order to celebrate Holy Mass behind closed doors in the inner chapel o the friary, without anyone assisting him...

 

"Led by Mayor Morcaldi, the Sanglovannese responded quickly, forming a People Association and staging a massive demonstration the next day in which nearly five thousand people - half of the population of the metropolitan - took part....

    "The German philosopher Josef Seifert said that Jesus and Mary must be "weeping" over Amoris Laetitia. "Pope Francis, who does not even once mention the possibility of sacrilege or peril to the soul of a person who receives Communion unworthily, tells adulterers that in certain circumstances which are to be considered individually, it is possible for those who live in adultery or in other irregular unions to receive Holy Communion without changing their lives, and so to continue to living as adulterers," he wrote.

    The effect of the pope's exhortation has bee n an unfolding disaster, said Bishop Athanasius Schneider. It "has unfortunately, within a very short time, led to very contradictory interpretations even among the episcopate," he notes....

    "A few bishops, twisting themselves into contortions, tried to present the document as consonant with Catholic traditions, arguing that it hadn't explicitly condoned Communion for adulterers. But even those straining efforts became unsustainable after Pope Francis sent a letter to bishops in the Buenos Aires region in September 2016. The letter praised their guidelines, based on Amores Laetitia, that authorized Communion for adulterers in certain cases. "The document is very good," he wrote to them. "There are no other interpretations." Around the same time, the diocese of Rome also issued guidelines permitting Communion for adulterous.

Mixed Signals

    "The sending of mixed signals has been a hallmark of the pontificate. In 2016, Pope Francis called Emma Bonino one of Italy's "forgotten greats," odd praise given her status as one of the most radical pro-abortion activists in the country's history. After being arrested for performing illegal abortions. Bonino went on to become Italy's version of Margaret Sanger. "True," she has her critics, Pope Francis said. "But never mind," he continued before praising her activism in Africa.

    "Sometimes it seems as if Pope Francis is determined to purge all humor from the phrase 'more Catholic than the pope," said former Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes, commenting on this episode. "Is Pope Francis blind to the fact that his praise for Bonino will be used to throw the lustrous vestment of the Papacy around the shoulders of the whole abortion movement, in order to enhance the glamour of evil?"

    "Vatican correspondent Sandro Magister has reported that the pope is keeping his distance from the pro-life movement, illustrated by the minimal support that he has given the March for Life in Rome.  "It remains to be understood why Pope Francis cherishes such a dislike, although he has condemned abortion on several occasions," said Magister. "In the U.S., The March for Life [near] the White House in Washington is already a classic. But in Rome at St. Peter it is not. Pope Francis does not want it show up."

    According to Magister, the pope gives short shrift to pro-lifers, barely mentioning them in publications  under his control and in his audiences. March for Life attendees are used to the secular media ignoring the event. But they were surprised to see in 2014 that the pope's own newspaper ignored it too. "L'Osservatore Romano also practiced shunning the whole initiative not even dedicating a single line to it," said Magister. ...

    Pope Francis has also kept his distance from Catholic activism opposed to gay marriage. In 2016, when the press asked him to comment on gay civil-unions legislation under consideration in Italy, he dodged the question, saying disingenuously that he couldn't answer it "because the pope is for everybody and he can't insert himself in the speech internal politics of a country."

  On issues like climate change, illegal immigration, gun control, and the death penalty, he has had no problem inserting himself into the internal politics of countries. During the vote over "Brexit" in 2016, he angered its supporters by opposing it. One of his aides said that a vote to depart would not lead to a "stronger Europe."...

Today, after 8:30 A.M. Mass at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church, Brother Carlos Chavez was buried at Cypress Forest Lawn. Yesterday, at the Wake and prior to the Rosary, I gave this eulogy. Monday, Jan. 6, 2020

WHAT DO I REMEMBER ABOUT CARLOS CHAVEZ?

1. IT ALL BEGAN WITH THE THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS. CARLOS WAS A SERIOUS, MILD-MANNERED PERSON WITH STRONG CATHOLIC BELIEFS IN THE WORK OF THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS. AFTER ALL, CARLOS WAS A PROUD FOUNDING MEMBER OF KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS IN THIS PARISH MANY YEARS AGO.

2. AT THAT TIME, ONCE MY NAME WAS TURNED IN TO BECOME A MEMBER, I RECEIVED A HOME VISIT FROM CARLOS CHAVEZ AND EARL SMITH TO CHECK ME OUT. MY WIFE MICHAELENE AND I WERE AT HOME AND THEY LOOKED AROUND AND ASKED A FEW QUESTIONS, TO CHECK WHETHER I'M A PRACTICING CATHOLIC AND POSSIBLY RELIGIOUS SYMBOLS IN THE HOME. DURING THAT YEAR, MY WIFE AND I BECAME NEW MEMBERS OF ST. IRENAEUS PARISH.

3. ANYHOW, THEY GOT ME INVOLVED AND SIGNED ME UP TO BE PRO-LIFE CHAIRMAN.

4. WE TRIED TO GET A MONTHLY GET-TOGETHER STARTED AFTER THE 8:30 AM MASS DURING THE WEEK TO MEET MONTHLY AT MCDONALD'S. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHLY GET-TOGETHERS,  I  NOTICED THAT CARLOS WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH HIS LEGS.

5. WE SIGNED UP WITH THE FIRST FRIDAY FRIARS. A GET-TOGETHER MONTHLY, WITH A MASS, THEN A FISH DINNER AND A SPEAKER. TODAY, WE MEET AT ST. JOHN MORON LEBANESE CATHOLIC CHURCH.  AGAIN, AFTER A WHILE THAT CEASED FOR CARLOS BECAUSE OF WALKING PROBLEMS.

6. AND THEN IT HAPPENED. CARLOS WAS CONFINED TO HIS HOME IN A BED FOR MANY YEARS. WHEN I VISITED HIM, OVER ALL HE HAD A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND PRAYED A LOT (ROSARY) AND ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS.  HE WAS AN INSPIRATION TO ME.

7. I DON'T KNOW IF HE TOOK A POWER OF SUGGESTION PILL LIKE A MEMORY PILL [WHICH I DO], BUT CARLOS WAS ALWAYS ALERT AND DEEPLY LOVED HIS WIFE ROSE AND FAMILY. HE FELT THAT THROUGH THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS, WE CAN LIVE BETTER OUR CATHOLIC BELIEFS AND PASS IT ON TO ONE ANOTHER IN ALL THE VOLUNTEER WORK THE MEN DO FOR THEIR PARISH.

8.FINALLY, AND INDIRECTLY, THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ARE PROUD AND HONORED TO HAVE CARLOS MEET JESUS TWO SUNDAYS AGO.

WHAT'S AT STAKE IN THE COMING YEAR BY FRANKLIN GRAHAM

What's At Stake in the Coming Year by Franklin Graham in "Decision" Dec. 2019

     "During the 2016 election year, I traveled to the capitals of all 50 states, calling on people to pray for our troubled country, asking God to heal our land and encouraging people to vote for candidates at local, state and national levels who were best aligned with Biblical values.

      I believe the Lord heard our prayers, and under the current administration, we have seen amazing progress in many areas of moral concern. We have a president who has signed executive orders protecting religious liberty, advocated for pro-life causes and seen 158 of his judicial nominees confirmed to federal courts.

  
  Never have I seen such hatred for a sitting president. I think most of the vitriol comes from the progressive left, whose position on key moral issues are diametrically opposed to a biblical worldview. Their lockstep with mainstream media outlets amplifies their animosity toward President Trump and his policies.

   As we head to another election year, Christians need to understand that the opportunities for reinforcing religious liberty that we have enjoyed under President Trump aren't guaranteed to continue. Virtually the entire field of presidential challenges is openly hostile to biblical values.

   This is why I am calling 2020 our "Year of Decision," you will read in detail some of the crucial challenges that our nation faces. "Can we sustain the advances we have made in the culture battle of the last few year." "Can we continue to have an administration that has greatly helped the cause of religious liberty, not only here in America, but also around the world."

   
 "Will Christian business, churches and schools continue to enjoy the protection of their first amendment rights, or might we see increasing persecution under a different administration." Much is at stake and I will continue to do all that I can in speaking out on those issues that the bible is very clear on -same sex marriage, abortion and gender confusion. Already a number of countries consider the preaching of Scriptural truth on these issues hate speech, and anyone who stands firm on Biblical values is labeled intolerant and bigoted.

   
 When I visit Florida and other states in 2020 for our ongoing Decision America Tour, I will keep asking everyone to pray for God's providential upon our country and challenge Christians to vote on Election Day. God hears the prayers of his people as we come humbly before Him, repenting of our own sins and interceding for our nation"...

Oct. 1, 2019.                                                                              When you reread the 13 effects of this Act, it's anti-Christian and a direct assault on Catholic beliefs and "The Catechism of the Catholic Church." All 74 fraud Catholic-in-name-only-politicians (Democrats), including Lou Correa voted for this Act. Thus far, the U.S. Catholic bishops have been silent on this matter. Could Catholics and most other Christians contact the U.S. Catholic bishops and tell them what's on your mind? The leftists need the duped Catholic vote in order to win in 2020.

P.P.S. "The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who remain neutral during a moral crisis? Evangelist Franklin Graham implored Cardinal O'Connor to excommunicate Governor Cuomo for the abortion holocaust he did in New York. Cardinal O'Connor refused. He forgot the once Pope Benedict's message to all bishops, 'Therefore, anyone who seeks an office in the Church thereby declares himself ready for a greater share of the cross.'"
