Preface:

    For Catholics, I recall when we prayed the daily Rosary for the conversion of Russia. And the collapse of  Russian Communism occurred. It was a miracle that almost no bloodshed occurred. Padre Pio was an Italian Catholic priest who died in our lifetime, 1968. The corona virus is on our minds but also the spiritual health of our country and the world. WE pray also for the conversion of America, Russia and Communist China. 

   

    Part of the prayer to Saint Padre Pio reads as follows: "Because of your friendship with the Lord, God heals those you ask to be healed, and God forgives those you ask to be forgiven. Through your visible wounds of the Cross, which you bore for 50 years, you were chosen in our time to glorify the Crucified Jesus..continue to intercede for us and our loved one before the Lord." Padre Pio's life is all about intercession and he does it. Read all about it on the blog. 

 

    I have completed on this blog, 18 Chapters  of 35 Chapters from the excellent book Padre Pio  The True Story by C. Bernard Ruffin. By the way, we had a cure for cancer but the person who found the cure according to Padre Pio was aborted. And now Cardinal Raymond Burke has a message for us.

THEOLOGIANS DEFEND CARDINAL BURKE FOR LINKING COVID-19 TO SOCIETY'S REBELLION AGAINST GOD

New Ways Ministry accused Cdl. Raymond Burke of demonizing LGBT people by mentioning gender theory in his remarks on the Catholic faith and the corona virus .

"Cardinal Burke, in a statement on the COVID-19 pandemic released March 21`, pointed out that "a person of faith cannot consider the present calamity in which we find ourselves without considering also distant our popular culture is from God." ... It is not only indifferent to His presence in our midst but openly rebellious toward Him and the good order with which He has created us and sustains us in being."

 

"We need only think of the commonplace violent attacks on human life, male and female, which God has made in His own image and likeness, attack on the innocent and defenseless unborn, ... Pervasive attack upon the integrity of human sexuality, of our identity as man and woman, with the pretense of defining for ourselves, often employing violent means, a sexual identity other than given to us by God ... witness the devastating effect on individuals and families of the so-called 'gender theory."

 

Finally, Cardinal Burke mentioned "a paganism which worships nature and the earth." There are those within the Church who refer to the earth as our mother, as if we came from the earth, and earth is our salvation... in God alone we find salvation." the American Cardinal emphasized.  Francis DeBernardo, executive director of the pro-LGBT New Ways Ministry ... called on Pope Francis to remove (Cardinal Burke and Mexican bishop Ramon Castro of Cuernavaca from public ministry for dangerous and irresponsible language about LGBTQ people."....

 

    Fr, Serafino Lanzetta, a member of the John Paul II Academy for Human Life and Family, stressed that Burke's statement on "the pervasive attack upon the integrity of human sexuality, of our identity as man or woman" has to be seen "in the light of many other sins denounced by His Eminence as the cause of a just punishment permitted by God with a pestilence."...

 

In 2011, Cardinal Donald Wuerl, considered a liberal by many Catholics, wrote, "In no manner is the position proposed by New Ways Ministry in conformity with Catholic teaching, and no manner is this organization authorized to speak on behalf of the Catholic Church or to identify itself as a Catholic organization."...

1. "Human genetics can be summarized in this basic creed" In the beginning is the message, and the message is in life, and the message is life. And if the message is a human message, then life is a human life.

2. "Life has a very long history, but each of us has a very definite beginning -- the moment of conception.

3. "A month after conception, a human being is one-sixth of an inch long. The tiny heart has already been beating for a week, and the arms, legs, head and brain have already begun to take shape."

    "At two months, the child would fit into a walnut shell: Curled up, she measures a little more than an inch long. It reputation as a non-partisan organization that vigorously defends the free speech rights of all Americans, independent of their ideology or political leanings, is well known.

    
However, it is a reputation that can be seriously challenged. Indeed as I detailed in The Politics of the American Civil Liberties Union (Transaction Press, 1985), it would be more accurate to say that the Union is the legal arm of the liberal-left.  ... the Union entertains a vision of liberty: that is increasingly libertine: its promotion of radical individualism works to undermine the kind of moral census that is bedrock of free societies...

    
The ACLU was nominally founded to defend free speech rights, but its real interests was the rights of labor. Baldwin pushed the ACLU to the radical fringe of the Labor movement, leading Samuel Gompers, head of the American Federation of Labor, to accuse him of aiding an abetting revolutionary movements, Baldwin was a Communist fellow-traveler.... Though the ACLU took a moderate position on many issues in the 1940s and 1950s, in the 1960s it resorted back to its more radical ways. It was on the social and  economical issues that it turned decisively left. Making matters worse is the ACLU's push to legalize all drugs. It also wants to legalize street prostitution, pornography, and gambling. Only someone drunk on individual rights would conclude that such activities contribute to the makings of a free society. ...

  
  In the late 1970s, Rep. Henry Hyde authored a bill restricting the federal funding of abortion. The ACLU, determined to cast his effort as an attempt to shove Roman Catholic doctrine down the throats of the public, summoned a lawyer to follow him into church on Sunday. She entered her spy notes in a 301 - page brief, which got nowhere. When asked about this Hyde, said, "I suppose the Nazis did that - observed Jews going into Synagogues in Hitler's Germany - but I hoped we would have gotten past that kind of fascistic tactic....

    
Freedom from religion has always played a much bigger role for the ACLU than freedom of religion. The list of religious expressions it object to is quite long. In the 1980's, it worked to strip the Catholic Church of its tax-exempt status...

    
In more recent times, the ACLU has been quick to hail its defense of neo-Nazis as evidence of its non-partisan approach. But anyone knows that these nuts pose no real threat.  More seriously, why is the ACLU reluctant to defend the free speech rights of pro-life demonstrators, or conservative speakers on college campuses....The author of the First Amendment James Madison, never envisioned that freedom of speech would come to mean the defense of child pornography....

"Communist ideology is very similar to Christianity." That is what Vladinir Putin said last year in defense of Soviet communism. Agreeing with Putin is a contributor to America, the influential Jesuit magazine, Dean Dettloff. A more prominent Jesuit, Pope Francis, disagrees: When asked about his economic views in 2013, he flatly said, "The Marxist ideology is wrong."

 

Dettloff's article, "The Catholic Case for Communism," is the most spirited defense of Communism to appear in some time. That it was published by a prominent Catholic magazine (it is featured on its website) makes it all the more astonishing.

 

... there is one paragraph, in particular, that deserves a rebuttal. "Communism in its socio-political expression has at times caused great human and ecological suffering. Any good communist is quick to admit as much, not least because communism is an unfinished protect that depends on the recognition of its real and tragic mistakes."...

 

R.J. Rummel is a professor emeritus at the University of Hawaii at Manoa;he is one the world's most experts on democide, or what may be called mega-murder. Regarding the mega-murders committed by communist regimes, the death toll is staggering. Under the Soviet Union, Rummel says 61 million people were killed; Stalin was responsible for killing 43 million of them.

 

Under Mao, Rummel puts the number at 77 million. Proportionately, Pol Pot beats everyone: Between April 1975 & December 1978, he killed 2 million Cambodians out of a population of 7 million. Attempts 

by Dettloff to romanticize American communists fail miserably. In fact, they gave Hitler their blessings.

 

In 2014, Ronald Radosh, a well-known student of communism, wrote splendid review of a book by Stephen H. Norwood, Anti-semitism and the American Far-Left, published  by Cambridge University Press. What he said is no longer controversial.

 

"With the infamous Nazi-Soviet Pact that began in August of 1939 and lasted until Germany invaded the Soviet Union in June of 1941, American Communists quickly became open supporters of Hitler and showed little concern for the fate of Europe's Jewry. At home, they quickly attacked all Jewish groups, including trade unions that fought against Hitler's fierce war on the Jews. As Norwood writes, the American Communists 'clearly favored Nazi Germany over Britain.

 

Dettlof writes that "any good communist is quick to admit" the great human suffering that communism has engendered, noting that they acknowledge it "mistakes."  He is wrong on both counts.

Eric Hobsbawn ... significant English historian ... was a Marxist who refused to associate with anyone but intellectuals., viewing ordinary middle-class people with contempt. In 1994, asked.. if communism had achieved its aims at the cost of 15-20 million people - as opposed to the well over 100 million it actually resulted in - would you have supported it? He answered with one word: "Yes".

 

Mao put into practice the communism that Hobshawn heralded. He told the Russians "We are prepared to sacrifice 300 million Chinese for the victory of World Revolution."  He told his comrades. "Working like this, with all these projects, half of the China may well have to die." By contrast, Mao had at least 50 villages and was immensely wealthy.

 

The communists made no "mistakes." That is a myth. There is a direct line between Marxist ideology and genocide.   As Solzhenitsyn said, Stalin did not pervert Marxism - he perfected it. Rummel, following Lord's Acton's observation that "power corrupts and absolutely," opined, "Power kills and absolute Power kills absolutely."

To those who understand human nature, none of this is surprising. To those who don't it is a mystery.

    I come here before you today to introduce you to a new Brazil a country that is now re-emerging after coming to the brink of socialism, a country that is being rebuilt on the yearnings and ideals of its people. Under my administration, Brazil has been working to regain world trust and also to lower unemployment, violence and business risks by reducing bureaucracy through deregulation and especially by leading through example. 

    My country was very close to socialism, which led us to a situation of widespread corruption, serious economic recession, high crime rates, and continuous ceaseless ATTACKS AGAINST FAMILY AND RELIGIOUS VALUES that are part and parcel of our traditions.  

    In 2013 an agreement between the former Workers' Party and the Cuban dictator brought to Brazil 10,000 doctors who had no evidence of professional training. They were prevented from bringing their spouses or children and 75% of their wages were confiscated by the Cuban regime, and they were further prevented from enjoying fundamental rights such as, for example the right to go and come. Truly tantamount to slave labor, believe me.

    Supported by human rights organizations both in Brazil and the United States and the United Nations Organization even before I took office, almost 90% of these Cuban citizens left Brazil as a result of one-sided initiative by the Cuban government. Those who decided to stay in Brazil will undergo proper technical eligibility criteria to allow them to exercise their medical profession.

    Brazil has, therefore, stopped contributing to the Cuban dictatorship by no longer sending to Havana $300 million as had been the case every year. History has taught us that already back in the 1960s, Cuban agents were sent out to several countries to collaborate towards implementing dictatorships in the region. A few decades ago they tried to change the Brazilian regime and the system in place in other countries and Latin America. They were defeated.

        Brazilian civilians and military died - were killed - and so many had their reputations destroyed. We have nevertheless overcome that war and we have upheld our freedom.

    These agents of the Cuban regime, introduced by Hugo Chavez, also made their way into Venezuela, and today there are 60,000 Cuban agents who control and interfere in all areas of the Venezuela society, especially in intelligence and defense. Venezuela, formerly a vibrant, democratic country, currently experiences the cruelty of socialism.

    It is fair to say that yes, socialism [progressive democrats] is working in Venezuela. They are all poor and deprived of freedom. Brazil has also felt the impact resulting from the Venezuelan dictatorship of more than four million of Venezuelan citizens who fled the country. A sizable portion migrated to Brazil, fleeing hunger and violence. We have done our part to help them. and assist them through the operational welcome carried out by the Brazilian army and praised world-wide.

    We also worked with other countries, including the United States of America, to ensure democracy will be established in Venezuela. We have also endeavored our very best efforts to ensure that other South American countries will not experience this harmful regime.

    In November 2016, four cardinals frustrated by the pope's refusal to clarify his heterodox statements about marriage and conscience, released to the public a letter they had written to him. They explained that they released it after he declined to answer it for almost two months. Signed by three European cardinals (Cardinals Walter Brandmuller, Carlo Caffarra, and Joachim Meisner) and an American cardinal (Raymond Burke), the letter urged Pope Francis to dispel the "grave disorientation and great confusion of many faithful regarding extremely important matters for the life of the Church." ... Cardinal Burke has said that the cardinals will make a "formal act of correction of a serious error" if he continues to ignore the letter....

 

    But Catholics in the pews are increasingly bewildered by this pontificate, they wonder: How did it come to this? How did the papacy go from safeguarding doctrinal unity to shattering it? How did it go from fighting a sinful world to joining it? How did go from a spiritual bastion to a partner of the United Nations and a pagan political order?...

 

    The crisis created by this pontificate's toxic combination of political liberalism and doctrinal relativism is a historically singular one which gives its unfolding a disconcerting drama. How will it end.... By the end of 2016, he had named 44 cardinals, a third of the college of cardinals and perhaps enough, the Times implied, "to ensure that his vision of the Church" outlasts him.

    Dismayed by that prospect, Catholics find consolation in the words of Jesus Christ, that the "gates of hell will not prevail" against the Church...

    "Instead of kneeling before the world and succumbing to the allure of a late modernity that has no place for elevating conscience and binding truth, Cardinal Sarah calls on the Church to fearlessly witness to the truth about man. It must witness with evangelical zeal and fidelity to the natural moral law, against the terrible perversions that are gender theory, and trans humanism.

 

    They are the "pernicious face" of totalitarianism [Socialism] in the 21st century since, they, too, "hope to mutilate and control [human] nature." The Church now should have one paramount mission: to defend human nature, moral responsibility, and a conscience informed by natural and divine truth (not pernicious self-will) as precious gifts that come from the Lord of Hosts. Sarah puts it so well:

 

    Men and women of good will would respond with enthusiasm and gratitude to a "splendid act of courage, the progressives will lead the Church of Christ down a path of gradual renunciation of everything that defines the Christian Church as a vehicle of divine truth. As he argues in a new book, Des profondeuyrs de nos coeurs (From the Depths of Our Hearts), written with  contribution by Benedict XVI, the new Christianity undermines an authentic faithful understanding of celibate priesthood, of priesthood truly sanctified by God.

"The Wayward Shepherd" by Daniel J. Mahoney, NATIONAL REVIEW, Feb. 24, 2020 p. 28

 

    "Cardinal Robert Sarah, the African-born bishop and heads the Congregation for Divine Worship, shows the way to faithful witness in this time of troubles. He does not attack the pope by name and never ceases to proclaim his (genuine) filial devotion to the Holy Roman Pontiff. But at every step, loyal to the apostolic inheritance, he exposes the fatuousness of the new Christianity.

 

    In The Day Is Now Far Spent, a collection of his conversation with French journalist Nicolas Diat that was published by the invaluable Ignatius Press in 2019, Sarah eloquently and faithfully pleads for a Christian witness in which prayer is not eaten away by reckless activism, in which true charity is not confused with humanitarian ideology, in which the liturgy invokes the sacred presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ., and in which theology is not transformed into politics. (I am paraphrasing a crucial chapter in the book). Sarah came of age in Sekou  Toure's Guinea, so he experienced Marxist-Leninist fanaticism from the inside. He saw doctrinaire egalitarianism at work, the atheistic persecution of religion, the cruel and sadistic ravages carried out by government police.

 

    He adamantly rejects the "preferential pontificate for [left-wing] dictatorship" that has sadly marked the Franciscan pontificate, as well as its lamentable indifference to "Islamic fanaticism , which kills to establish a reign of terror." Sarah love political liberty rooted in personal responsibility and "joyous self-limitation." (You recognize the influence of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, whom Sarah quotes in the book as much as he quotes Benedict XVI.)               George H. Kubeck

The pope appears unfazed by these criticisms. Asked during a 1016 interview about the complaints of conservative Catholics, he replied defiantly, "They say no to everything. I go ahead, without looking over my shoulder....Journalist Rod Dreher, "... The spirit of Pope Francis will replace the 'spirit of Vatican II" as the rationalization people will use to ignore the difficult teaching of the faith."

"THAT'S THE TRUTH"

    Back in 1960, my working class parents voted different parties; my Mom went democrat with JFK. My father voted republican for Richard Nixon. I remember sitting at the dinner table eating "Spaghetti-o's" listening to folks tease each other about "canceling" their votes.

   
 Over the decades, my friends and family members supported a wide array of politicians and I never had a problem with any of them. ...

  
  But today I simply cannot understand how any intelligent American can support Bernie Sanders, who despises the United States and wants to burn down our traditions. I believe Senator Sanders to be a truly dangerous man and those who allow him to power, are putting my family in jeopardy.

   
 Let's start with Sanders saying, during the debate in New Hampshire, that America is a"racist society" from the top to the bottom. In order to believe that, you have to accuse millions of Americans who hold responsible positions of actively persecuting blacks and other minorities.

    To buy into Sanders irresponsible statement, you must also believe that the United States' social system, by design and execution, denies the equal pursuit of happiness to millions of its citizens based skin color. There is absolutely no factual basis to support that absurd point of view. Yes, individual bias exists, but bias exists, but to allege it is a national policy is a lie. 

Bernie embraces that lie.

    The Senator also believes that private property is really federal property. He promotes draconian taxation on corporations and wealthy citizens. Beyond that, he wants to impose taxation on individual assets, acquired AFTER a citizen has paid income tax and other state financial demands. This is his so called "wealth tax"

  
  To Sanders, it is a trade. The federal government will for a citizen's medical bills, dental expenses, eye glasses, hearing aids, elder care, education from pr-k-through college, and provide generous subsidies to low income Americans for every other life need.

   
 In return, Sanders believes the federal government has the right to take whatever it wants from affluent citizens and private companies in order to pay for all the free stuff. Sanders and Congress will decide how much of your pie will remain in the refrigerator. The fed will appropriate their "fair share," and if you resist, you will be prosecuted.

    
So, if an American works hard, takes risks investing, and lives frugally in order to build long term financial security for his or her family, the fed would be able to seize those personal assets under the banner of "fair share." This frightening vision of Bernie Sanders would not only bankrupt the USA, it would punish every single American who has achieved economic success.

    
Therefore, folks who support Sanders and his socialist/communist viewpoint, are enabling a dangerous point of view that would directly harm me and my family. So I can no longer engage, I must strenuously oppose them. 

   
 If I want to live in Cuba, and have the state determine what I can and cannot possess, I'd move  there.There is little economic difference between Bernie Sanders & the tyrants in Havana.                     "THAT'S THE TRUTH."  (End of Bill's article.)
