"My love for Founding Father - Alexander Hamilton"
PREAMBLE TO: THE WEEKLY HAMILTON REPORT

I just recently watched the movie "Hamilton", which was shown in our Bookmark Library. There are three personal reasons why I love Alexander Hamilton:
1. He was a legal immigrant from the West Indies, and I immigrated from Canada.
2. Hamilton was a great leader and visionary, and his writings helped me to obtain a Master's
Degree from Pepperdine College in Los Angeles in 1969. My theme was "Alexander Hamilton's
Criticism of John Adams' Foreign Policy."
3. When my second son was born on November 8, 1969, I named him Alexander, in honor of
Alexander Hamilton.
There are many other reason that I love and admire Alexander Hamilton:
A. During America's War for Independence from Great Britain, Hamilton was George Washington
right-hand man, supporting him and providing him with wise advice.
B. Hamilton was our first Secretary of the Treasury. He established our free-enterprise system,
which we continue to enjoy to this day.
C. Hamilton became the leader of the Federalist Party. This party was responsible for picking the
best men to lead this country.
D. Hamilton never owned slaves and never condoned the practice of slavery.
E. There was a tie in the presidential electoral vote in 1800. The choice for president or vice-
president was Jefferson or Burr. Burr was not a man of good character, and although Hamilton
did not agree with all of Jefferson's ideas, Hamilton persuaded the delegates to vote in
Jefferson - a man of good character and integrity.
F. Hamilton participated in creation of our Constitution and fully believed we are all equal. He
wanted people to think of themselves as "Americans", not "hyphenated Americans", from
the 13 different colonies, or these days - different countries.
G. Hamilton helped George Washington write his farewell address. He warned us how factions
could divide our country, and pushed for us to be unified.
H. Hamilton was a conservative that loved law and tradition, and he kept aware of "enemies of
permanent things". This means he treasured and tried to protect ideas, morals and standards
that founded our country such as the Ten Commandments.
I. In the "Hamilton" movie, we see his contemporaries believed, "It would be nice to have
Hamilton on your side." and "As long as he can hold a pen, he is a threat." They understood his
influence and power, and his championing for good.
J. Last year, during the presidential impeachment trial, both sides referenced Hamilton from the
Federalist Papers. His judgment and influence continue to this day.
With all the changes our country is undergoing in ideology and abandoning of our foundations, I'm sure Hamilton would turn over in his grave were he to learn that the San Francisco Unified School Board voted 6-1 to rename 44 schools; including schools with the following names - George
Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Webster, Paul Revere, Abraham Lincoln, and Dianne Feinstein.
If only we had more Alexander Hamiltons today. How blessed we would be. May God continue to lead
and bless our country; and raise up strong, fair-minded, reverent leaders.
George H. Kubeck
