A Message from the Nat. Org. for Marriage (NOM)

Ref. bbrown@nationformarriage.org – Nov. 18/10 – www.cinopsbegone.com – Tuesday, Nov. 23/10

“It’s 1970 for marriage!” [It’s a ref. to 1973 for abortion.] Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, who spoke these words, heads up the marriage efforts of the Catholic Church in America. [Congratulations] This week he was voted Vice-President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. (USCCB)…

“Saying today is like 1970 for marriage,” Archbishop Joseph E. Kurtz of Louisville, Ky., urged his fellow bishops Nov. 15 to look at the challenges to traditional marriage as if they could see Roe vs. Wade on the horizon… “He updated the bishops on various projects to reinforce the Church’s teaching about the sanctity of marriage, including the release of new multimedia materials and active work in battling legislative efforts to change legal definitions of marriage in order to legalize same-sex marriage…

Other bishops in the audience responded by calling for building new bridges to other Christian churches that respect life and marriage – especially evangelicals. This is a heartening development! At the same time, the USCCB elected a new president. If you are not Catholic, let me tell you: The Archbishop of New York has always been, by tradition, the closest thing to the head of Catholic Church in America… Archbishop Timothy Dolan … said something pretty interesting from a NOM perspective; in an interview with the National Catholic Register: “Robby George is one of my heroes!”

Princeton Prof. Robert George is the founding Chairman of the Board of the NOM… This is very good news, and not just for Catholics. To defend marriage today, people of good will of all races, creeds and colors need to come together.

Gay-marriage advocates are become increasingly aggressive and expansive about what their cause should entail for faith communities. The nation’s largest gay rights group, the “Human Rights Campaign,” recently issued a press release taking credit for changing the Mormon Church’s views on sex and marriage… “Opposes bullying and unkindness towards gay people – and other people too!”

This week a spokesman for the LDS Church issued a statement rebuking HRC’s “absurd” claims affirming that LDS teachings on gay sex – it’s wrong – and marriage – it’s a union of husband and wife – have not changed and will not change… Here I am on Fox News debating the Iowa judges election results with a rep from the very same group which absurdly called the Iowa’s people great victory a “thuggish””mugging.”

We cannot stand on the sidelines, or stay in our comfort zones. We have to have the COURAGE to reach across our differences to what we share in common – to defend the common good – the good of children, the truth about human sexual power and passion, and the urgent moral need to sacrifice to protect defend and renew marriage…

When Newsweek called me to do a prolife, I was pretty sure it was going to be a “hit” piece… Well the profile is out: “Gay Marriage’s Worst Opponent.”… NOM is emerging as the most feared organization of the gay left because we are smart, smiling, likeable – and we win!..

George H. Kubeck, There is a price President Brian Brown pays! His hate mail is divided into 2 categories. 1) - To the police 2) - to the labeled opposition. One riled caller threatened to hang him… another to donate a pipe bomb to his office… Please financially support NOM – 2029 K Street, NW. Suite 300, Washington, DC. 2000
