BIDEN WAS REFUSED COMMUNION: WALL STREET JOURNAL

BIDEN WAS REFUSED COMMUNION: WALL STREET JOURNAL

Wall Street Journal, Friday, Sep. 25, 2020, "Biden's Faith Meets A Polarized Electorate" Democrat woos fellow Catholics, who sided with presidential winners since 2002. By J. McCormick & Ken Thomas

Preface:
The New Secular Democrat Party need the so-called Catholic vote in order to win the presidency. With BIDEN they have done it twice before with Obama. Why not try it again with BIDEN? To be refused Communion is a very serious matter in the Catholic Church. It can explain Biden's behavior on television. I don't remember this news story being on TV.

"Arriving a few minutes late for 9 a.m. Mass, former Vice-President Joe Biden slipped into a pew near the back of St. Anthony Catholic Church last October in Florence, S.C.
When two communion lines formed, he entered the one opposite where the Rev. Robert Morey was distributing what Catholics consider the body of Christ. As Mr. Biden approached the altar, "Father switched lines," recalled parishioner Doug Amon.
Mr. Biden extended his hands to receive the host, something he had done thousand of times in other churches. The priests declined. The two briefly spoke, and the priest delivered a blessing, said Amon, who watched from the other line. Another parishioner confirmed this account, details of which haven't been previously reported.

"Any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of church teaching." Rev. Morey said in a statement about the episode, declining to be interviewed.
Mr. Biden who immediately left the church, told PBS News Hour: "It's not a position that I've found anywhere else, including from the Holy Father who gives me Communion,"referring to pope. Mr. Biden declined to be interviewed for this article....
Catholic voters have sided with every presidential-election winner since 2004, exit polls show. They account for a quarter of the national electorate ... especially important in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin...
Wall Street Journal/NBC New poll taken Sept. 13-16 showed Mr. Biden leading Mr. Trump nationally among registered Catholic voters 49% to 46%, within the margin of error. In 2016, exit polls showed, Mr. Trump 50% to 46%.  ...

After Mr. Biden named California Sen. Kamala Harris, a Baptist, as his running mate in August, Bishop Thomas Tobin of Providence, R.I. tweeted, "First time in a while that the Democratic ticket has had a Catholic on it. Sad." ...
Bishop Robert W. McElroy of the Catholic Diocese of San Diego countered by saying a person's Catholic identity couldn't be simply reduced "to one's political stance," adding: "I believe it is inappropriate to withhold the Eucharist on a basis of one's public positions. Most Catholic bishops believe that." If a priest denies Communion to a Catholic who supports abortion rights, then what's to prevent another one from denying the sacrament to some who claims global warming isn't happening...

(I AM GOING TO DEAL WITH THE ABOVE PARAGRAPH AT A LATER TIME. G.H.K.)
The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops said in a written statement that decisions about Communion and politicians are left to local bishops and declined to comment on Mr. Biden's Catholicism... Catholics were once a reliable Democratic voting bloc. But those who associate with the faith have become a swing vote in recent presidential elections, backing Democrats three times and Republicans twice since 2000...

Republicans are using the abortion issue to persuade conservative Catholics and evangelicals to stick with Trump.... Vice-President has accused Mr. Biden of backing "taxpayer funded abortion all the way up to birth." ... Mr. Biden selection of Ms. Harris reignited criticism from some conservatives who took issue with comments she made in 2018 ... quizzing a federal judicial nominee about his Knights of Columbus membership - and whether it would prevent him from being an impartial judge ... accuse her of anti-Catholic discrimination. "Where you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman's right to choose when you joined the organization?"
George H. Kubeck
P.S. It's more than abortion. It's about protecting the family and their religious rights. It's the Judeo-Christian interpretation of the Original Constitution as it is written.
