    New York's Cardinal Timothy Dolan called the Senate's action "appalling" and a rejection of "common sense." The Cardinal went on to explain that these abortions usually involve "brutally dismembering a defenseless unborn child, while also posing serious dangers to his or her mother."     It was Archbishop Naumann who called out-Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kane during the 2016 Election, saying he was an example of a politician who flaunted this Catholic background but spewed a lot of pro-choice rhetoric. B. Washington, March 1, 2012 (LifesiteNews.com - "The 13 Catholic Senators who voted against allowing Catholic organizations conscience rights." -Today, the U.S. Senate, by a vote of 51 -48, defeated the effort led by Senator Roy Blunt, (Missouri) to pass the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act as an amendment to pending legislation. Thirteen Catholic Senators joined the majority.

 

    The amendment, offered by Sen. Roy Blunt, R-MO, rolled back Barack Obama's invasive Health and Human Services mandate that employers insure contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs with no co-pay. While the health care reform law exempts churches, it would force religious institutions such as hospitals and universities to underwrite products that violate their deeply held religious beliefs.

 

    "By consenting to the disastrous HHS mandate, the U.S. Senate has taken the unprecedented step to deny our religious liberties instead of defending the Constitution," said Matt Smith, president of Catholic Advocate. "It is disappointed to witness a group of senators misled on this issue at the expense of Catholic and American key founding principles.

C. Personal Comments:

    These 13 CINOPS were not misled. They knew what they were doing. Historically, they made it possible for the election of President Obama twice. Without the Catholic vote, Obama would not have been elected President. The culture of death news media loves the CINOP;  covers and promotes him.

    "Capuchins, to this day, are generally known only by their Christian names (that is Father John, Brother Paul), but for purposes of distinguishing one religious from another who had the same name, the friars were, at least in Italy, generally identified by their birth place. Thus,. Francesco Forgione was known "in religion" as Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, Seldom if ever did he ever answer to "Padre Pio Forgione....

     Every night except on Sundays, a bell awakened the friars half an hour after midnight to prepare for Divine Office. The sleepy friars made their way through the corridors of the house to the "choir," or prayer chapel of the church, there to prepare the Divine Office. In "devotion, recollection,mortification, quiet, and silence," as the Constitution specified, the strove to "remember that they are in the presence of God and employ themselves in the angelic exercise of singing the divine praises." The they recited the first two hours, Matins and Lauds. After that they were permitted to go back to bed.

    Their repose did not last long, for they had to arise again at 5 A.M. Each friars made his bed and placed a crucifix on it to make it look like a coffin. Then they went to the choir to pray the Angelus, a prayer to remind themselves of the Lord's Incarnation. This was followed by the Litany of the Saints, in which the Virgin Mary, the archangels, patriarchs, prophets, apostles and more than thirty other saints were called upon to intercede with God for deliverance from evil. Then the community meditated for half hour, spending time in mental prayer for the pope, the salvation of souls, the conversion of unbelievers, and the impartation of wisdom to cardinals, bishops, prelates, kings, bishops and superiors. This period was followed by a Mass known as Orazione, after which the canonical hours of Prime and Terce were recited. This Mass was followed by another, the community Mass, known as Messa Conventuale. At last it was time for the community to be rewarded by a breakfast of boiled bread and oil, after which the friars went  back to the chapel to pray the Divine Office of Our Lady. ...

    After the midday meal, the community took a brief siesta. At 2:30 P.M. they recited Vespers in the choir and then spent some time doing chores, including manual labor. Even while scrubbing the latrine in the basement, the friars were to recite the Rosary aloud or sing hymns. When chores were over, the community recited the vespers of Our Lady, after which the novices had another conference with Padre Tommaso. Then they were allowed to recreate in the garden but were strongly encouraged to speak only about the lives of the saints or Rule of St. Francis. At 7 P.M. they said the rosary in the choir....

    It was truly a life of great austerity but Fra Pio and his confreres embraced it willingly, even joyfully, with the conviction that it enabled them to grow in love for God. Except for cases of necessity, the friars were allowed to converse freely only about two hours in a day, during periods of recreation in the garden and immediately after meals, but even then, the Evangelical Silence was in force: that is, conversation was discouraged on any but holy and edifying subjects....

    Strict obedience to superiors was considered an essential trait for anyone aspiring to the highest state of spirituality. It was part of giving up one's will, dying to oneself. The Capuchin was at all times expected to try to learn and carry out as diligently as possible the will and desire of his superiors.  Padre Pio and his fellow novices got plenty of opportunities to practice the virtues of humility and obedience under the not-so-tender care of the novice master, Padre Tommaso, who seems to have been a character out of a Dickens novel.... Pio's friend Vincenzo Masone put up this stifling regime for only two months before going back to Pietrelcina. Then there was the novice from Naples, whose name has not bee preserved, who was made to kneel, hungry, all through dinner. "Back home in Naples we pay a dime to see madmen," the boy sarcastically observed, "Here we see them for free." Tommaso overheard this and ordered the boy to strip and take the discipline there and then. The boy got up, left the friary, and never returned. Pio, however, endured Tommaso's harshness and severity without complaint....   He never criticized the actions of his superiors and never grumbled about the cold, which was really severe, or about the few blankets we were given. However, what struck me most about Fra Pio was his love of prayer. ....       George H.     These thoughts are brought to my mind daily in the "Litany for the Poor Souls in Purgatory." - "Those whose sentence is severe because of the great things entrusted to them. The popes, kings and rulers. The bishops and their counselors. My teachers and spiritual advisers. The priests and religious of the Catholic Church. The defenders of the Holy Faith."

    Think about it!  Your ignorance of what you ought to do; was no excuse. Neither was your strong bias for one of the political parties. You had a double standard. For if he or she was of the other political party, you would have censured him and called him out and forbidden him or her  from receiving Holy Communion.

  

     Your were also in total ignorance of what is happening in the country. It  was your decision. You listened to CNN only,  and other secular news channels. It was not in good taste to listen to Fox or talk show hosts on radio, like Dennis Prager or Rush Limbaugh. Your were just too proud and TOO smart for them. You were not a Catholic bishop,  You were a Politically Correct and Religiously Correct bishop.

   Still today, dear bishops in purgatory, many Catholic bishops ignore canon 915 and distribute Holy Communion, which the Church teaches is the literal body, blood, soul, and divinity of Jesus Christ to  public officials who actively advocate for abortion while purporting to be Catholic."

    "The Order of Friars Minor, Capuchin, is the most conservative of the three men's religious Orders that trace their origin to St. Francis of Assisi (c. 1181-1226), who in 1206 organized a community of men whose goal was "to observe the holy Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ by living in obedience, without property, and in chastity," Although Francesco's parents continually spoke of "making a monk," out of the boy, and although throughout his life Padre Pio was called a monk, Capuchins call themselves friars, or brothers, and are not a monastic but mendicant Order. The difference is one that laymen would find academic....

    

     A monk, by technical definition, usually spends his entire life in one specific religious house, whereas a mendicant friar may be assigned to any number of religious communities. Padre Pio, for example, who ministered all his working life in the province of Foggia, was unusual in that he remained for more than more than a half century in one friary. Most of his confreres moved several times during their career.... Padre Pio, like most of his colleagues, seldom if ever corrected laymen who called him a monk....

 

    Most of the friars in the Order which young Francesco Forgione entered in 1903 were comparatively young men. The Capuchin Order in Italy was just then recovering from more than two decades of suppression by the Italian government. The middle of the 19th century saw a tide of anticlerical sentiment swamp much of Europe. This was a time of swelling nationalism that would eventually explode in World War I. Since the Church had great temporal power and exerted political over much of central Italy, the Church found itself the scapegoat for many nationalistic politicians. During the 1860s and 1870s, the governments of France and Germany passed laws weakening the power of the Roman Church and suppressing religious orders. ...

 

    Camillo Cavour, the guiding force behind Italian unification, adjudged all contemplative Orders "useless and harmful," and Giuseppe Garibaldi, liberator of southern Italy from the control of the Bourbon family, called priests "wolves" and "assassins" and characterized the pope as "not a true Christian." Some Italian politicians, in fact, called for the army to storm the Vatican and throw the members of the College of Cardinals into the Tiber. ...

 

    The task of reorganizing the Capuchin province of Foggia, which comprised nearly two dozen friars, fell to the learned and spiritual Padre Pio of Benevento (1842-1908), who had ministered in England and India during the time of suppression.... He actively recruited young men to swell the death depleted ranks of the Order. He saw to it that the Foggia province maintained the ascetical rigor which prior to the suppression had earned for the reputation of one of the strictest Capuchin provinces in all of Italy. Before its dissolution, it was said that a goodly percentage of the friars had "died the odor of sanctity."  ....

 

    When Francesco arrived at Morcone, he was shown to a tiny cell in which there was a mattress filled with corn husks and supported by four wood planks, a little table, a chair, a washstand, a jug for water, and, on the wall, a wooden cross ... and other new novices, he was directed to spend several days in solitary confinement. On January 22, sixteen days after his arrival, Francesco was "invested" a religious. As he knelt at the foot of the altar before the master of novices, the formidable Padre Tommaso of Montesantagelo, Francesco's jacket was removed and these words were said, "May the Lord strip you the old man and all his actions." 

 

    As Francesco put on his Franciscan tunic, Padre Tommaso prayed: "May the Lord reclothe you in the new man who is created, according to God, in justice, holiness, and truth." As he put on the hood with its caperon, or small scapular, the novice master said: "May the Lord put the hood of salvation upon your head to defeat the wiles of the devil." As Francesco donned the belt, or cincture, the novice master prayed: "May the Lord gird you with the cordon of purity and extinguish within your loins the fire of lust so that the virtues of continence and chastity might abide in you." Then he  was given a candle. "so that, dead to the world, you might live in God. Rise from the dead, and Christ will give you light!".... 

      He was also given a religious name, in token of the fact that he was born again as a new man within "religion." It is not known whether Francesco Forgione had any input in the adoption of the name Pio. Some say that he chose it in honor of St. Pius the Martyr, whose relics repose in Pietrelcina.

It's every nation's cancer.  Remember Americans  received an education on Communism from Blessed Fulton Sheen on his TV series of "Life is Worth Living." 3. The presidency of Barack Obama did not lead to a celebration of America's achievement in creating a successful multi-ethnic and multi-racial society. It lead to greater racial and ethnic tensions. That is is because Obama was a lifelong political leftist who openly rejected this view of American exceptionalism, equating it with "British Exceptionalism" and "Greek exceptionalism, in other words not exceptional at all.... OBAMA IS THE LEADER OF A POLITICAL MOVEMENT THAT IS AT WAR WITH AMERICA AND ITS ACHIEVEMENT. On the of his election Obama predicted that, "we are five days awa from fundamentally transforming the United States of America," as though America was so deeply flawed as to require a "fundamental" transformation. In a subsequent statement, near the end of his second term, Obama explained why. In his view not only was America not a beacon of equality and freedom, but instead a racist society in practice and also by nature. "The legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination in almost every institution of our lives .... casts a long shadow, and that's still part of our DNA that's passed on. We're not cured of it."

    "I am thinking of the humanitarian catastrophe that has been unfolding in Venezuela the past few ; years; news about it has been rather limited and carefully massaged. The horrors are sometimes cataloged sparingly. But the "why" is not properly examined. (Thanks to the mainstream media. ghk)

 

    A recent New York Times story, for example, described the burgeoning tuberculosis outbreak now afflicting the country. This disease, regarded as a solid indicator for poverty levels in general, had been mainly under control but now is hitting even the middle classes in Venezuela. We read that the outbreak is occurring during "a profound economic crisis," and that "declining nutrition from food shortages" is a factor. There is nary a word about what triggered the economic crisis and the food shortages. HINT HARD-CORE SOCIALISM. ...

 

    This Times story tells us of one poor fellow stricken with a particularly virulent form of tuberculosis who wound up losing 77 pounds. I mention this because, as grave as this is, there are other general weight lose statistics that are even more staggering. Reuters recently reported that the average Venezuelan has lost 24 pounds in the past year! (That's up from the average 19-pound loss the year before.)

 

    Oh, and over 80 per cent of Venezuelan households are mired in poverty. (now closer to 90 percent). That sure sounds like they are experiencing "equal sharing of miseries," which Churchill sarcastically dubbed the "inherent virtue of socialism." More numbers: one in seven Venezuelans (four million out of 28 million) have fled in desperation rather than pick through garbage for food; a mass migration here in own hemisphere that we hear little about. ...

 

    The blazen disregard for socialism's track record is a fundamental inhumane act - one only mitigated by genuine naivete. ... But to countenance Marxism or socialism is to court human misery, whatever lofty rhetoric is banded in its defense. Indeed, putting into practice means, as St. John Paul II noted, "The working man himself would be among the first to suffer." And no surprise: former president Hugo Chavez"s daughter just happens to be the wealthiest person in Venezuela. Apparently something went slightly wrong on the road to the Bolivarian "revolution" and equality. ...

 

    Dostoevsky and several popes highlighted its philosophical and yes, spiritual dangers, and warned of tyrannies to come. It came in spades. The core of the Marxist project - atheism and corresponding devaluation of individual human rights and liberties has long been on full display. Venezuela's bishops have spoken out ... Pope Francis, alas, often vocal in support of migrants and persecuted groups like the Rohngya, has seemed reluctant to echo his brother bishops in Venezuela.

 

    Some in our country are skeptical of critiques when they come from Christian quarters. But we know what socialism's most avid advocates actually said. Marx made a hight priority of abolishing the family and private property, and envisioned peace precisely the same way Mohammed did: "The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to Islam." (Substitute socialism for Islam and you've got functional interchangeability). The goal of socialism, as Lenin remarked, is communism. And communism, according to Mao Zedong, "is not love," but " a hammer which we use to crush the enemy."  ...

 

    There is an enduring market for the vindictiveness that socialism stokes - and cloaks under the illusion of being on the "right side of history." (Hogwash. ghk) Another whole generation is not learning one of the plainest lessons of history. According to recent surveys, young people today express a shockingly high level of support for socialism.... It's as good an indicator as any of the failure of our public education system....
