CHAPTER 26 - A DAY WITH PADRE PIO P.  289 - 293

 

"Padre Alessio described Pio in his prime "a stout, strong man." A reporter from the New York Times described Padre Pio in his sixth decade as "a hale and hearty looking, with a clear skin, a bushy beard and head of hair, a tendency to corpulence, a pleasant smile, [and] twinkling brown eyes." His most striking physical characteristic was, however, his eyes. Nearly everyone who met him was struck by Pedro Pio's "beautiful," "luminous," and bright eyes which seemed to penetrate his very depths of the soul. Those meeting him for the first time, who expected a pale, emanciated man, booming voice and hearty laugh, and extroverted character...

 

He never ate breakfast, occasionally had a cup of coffee during the morning, and, seldom if ever. had anything more than a few cookies and a glass or two of cold beer or fruit juice in the evening... Padre Pio consisted of but a few mouthful of vegetables and a few sips of lemon juice, wrote, "He also eats macaroni. cheese, peas, beans, fruit, liver, etc. and, as all good Italians, he drinks a glass of wine....

 

"Very well," said the physician. "These are spiritual things. What does the spirit have to do with the body." Padre Pio went on to say that he was nourished solely by the Eucharist. "It is the Lord who does this and not I. It is the Lord who is working in me."...

Padre Pio likewise needed very little sleep... However, he seldom slept for more than three or four hours in twenty-four nor had the desire to do so... In his fifties and sixties, Padre Pio's health was generally good. Father Dominic usually, in his letters to his relatives, describes his friend as being in excellent health... Padre Pio's day begun usually at 3:30 A.M. when his alarm clock sounded and he rose to prepare for Mass through nearly two hours of meditation and prayer...Father Dominic had been up for fifteen minutes, outside, at the Church doors, a huge crowd of people --- waiting for the sanctuary to open at 4:30 -- had been queuing up for hours... would be under attack by the "Pious Ladies."...

 

These wild women were the dismay of Padre Pio and everyone around him. Don Giorgio Pogamy recalled,..  All to no avail. The Pious Ladies crowded into the seats to the front of the church and the rest of the throng had to pack in ahead of him... the most impressive of his ministry was his Mass, which according to one Italian journal, made worshipers feel as if he were at the foot of the cross.

A Salesian priest observed that when Padre Pio celebrated, "the most intimate fibers of my being vibrated with feelings of emotion and sweetness which I have never experienced."... Padre Gerardo Di Flumeri described Padre Pio's Mass as "a supernatural Mass."...

 

Other observers went further, Paola Carna, Archbishop of Sessani, declared, "At the altar Padre Piop was transfigured. His face was deathly pale, radiant, and sometimes bathed in tears... Great silent sobs shook him from time to time.Everything about him told us how intensely he was living the Passion of Christ. One had the impression that time and space had been canceled between that altar and the Hill of Calvary....Father Clement Naef noted that Padre Pio seemed to spend ten to fifteen minutes adoring both the consecrated bread and wine. As he did so, his head jerked sharply from time to time, "as though he had been struck on the face..."

 

As he prayed the word of consecration, nearly everyone observed that Padre Pio seemed to be suffering intensely. Many he thought he looked like Jesus on the cross... When he received Communion, his face, which had been pale and taut, in the words of a priest who assisted him for several years was immediately "transformed and became beautifully radiant." It was at this point that Padre Pio once admitted that he felt all over his being the "kiss of Jesus -- all one mercy, all one embrace." ...

 

Sometimes Padre Pio reacted in good humor. Once, when a woman grabbed his arm and refuse to release it, he said, "All right, take it! You can have it! But let me go!" Another time, when a group of adoring nuns screamed, "Padre, give us a relic!" he shouted back, "Sisters, go back to your convent and make your own relics.!"

1. What do I remember about the New York Times? N.Y.T. deliberately failed to inform the American people about ANTIFA and other communist, Marxist and anarchist organization existing in the U.S.A. That these groups hate America and are specialist in promoting violence via legitimate causes. Secondly, the N.Y.T. is responsible directly and indirectly for the more than 4 million refugees from Venezuela and the suffering occurring in that country today. Why? The lovers of Madura in Hollywood and Academia could have persuaded Madura to cooperate with Guido to have free supervised elections occurring in Venezuela. They deliberately didn't. It would have helped President Trump. New York Times doesn't care about the lives of ordinary Venezuelan or American citizens.

    The existence of a mindset of Cuban Communist Castro as a kind of George Washington is anathema to me. It is the equivalent of being  for a racist Adolf Hitler. It would also have been anathema to Venerable Fulton Sheen. It should also have been likewise to the Vatican. Tragically for the Cuban people it was not. Castro was a tyrant and a terrorist plague on lives of the Cuban people. Communism in the Western Hemisphere has no legal existence unless it had the vote of supervised elections. In Cuba, the communist never had that vote. Today, Cuban communists are a political cancer in every Latin American country. 

 

3,The lovers of Castro in Hollywood, academia and N.Y.T. show a contempt for the people of Cuba. The Cuban people showed their anger when they voted in Florida for George Bush over John Kerry in the 2004 presidential election. How many films has Hollywood produced depicting the sufferings of the Cuban people under Castro. NONE! It tells us the mindset of Hollywood and the culture of death in America.

 

4. Nikole Hannah- Jones wrote a vicious article in 1995 in which she hated white people. That hatred blossomed into the 1619 Project. She seems to love Cuban Communist Castro. In the Cuban Missal Crisis, Castro wanted an atomic war for the sake of his atheistic religion of Communism. Castro was prepared for the total destruction of the Cuban nation. Nicole wants to do the same for America with her 1619 Project.

 

5. We will accumulate evidence of treason on the part of the New York Times. Treason as act of deliberate betrayal, perfidy, treachery, dishonesty, lack of honesty, acts of lying or cheating, double-crossing of our Constitution, writings of our Founding Fathers and Judeo-Christian heritage.

    Even more powerful scholarly testimony come s from Orlando Patterson,a man of the left and a renowned African American Harvard sociologist who has written award winning books on slavery and race. America, in Patterson's own words, "is the least racist white-majority in the World; has a better record of legal protection of minorities than any other society. white or black; offers more opportunities to greater numbers of black persons than any other society, including those of Africa....

CHAPTER 25 - A MAGNIFICENT WORK OF CHARITY, P. 281-285

    Work on La-Casa Sollievo della sofferenza began in earnest immediately after the war. On October 5, 1946, the Casa was incorporated as shareholding company with a capital of one million lire and a thousand share of one thousand lire each, to be divided among the shareholders, each of whom signed a document renouncing any profit. 

    The first members of the company were Dr. Sanguinetti, Dr. Kiswarday, Don Guiseppe Orlando, Dr. Eleonara Figna,= (a Florentine engineer) Dr. Guglielmo Pancali (an agricultural scientist), and Pasquale DeJMeis ( a wealthy landowner). That same afternoon Sanguinett and Figna went to the home of Maria Pyle, where Padre Pio was staying, helping to nurse his dying father. They told him that the corporation was now a reality and he bestowed his formal blessing on the project....

    The next spring Padre Pio appointed as "director" his friend the Marquess Giuseppe Orlando, who had recently completed successful negotiations to open the friary at Pietrelcina. Almost immediately, Pio pressed the marquess to commence construction. Orlando recalled: "He always took it out on me. Each evening he used to elbow me in the sides that I avoided sitting beside him."...

    And so, in the spring of 1947, Padree Pio blessed the first stone and, on May 19, 1947, ground was broken for a road leading to the site of the hospital by twenty hired by Orlando for the purpose. When he learned of the project, a prominent physician in Foggia said publicly, "They're crazy! A hospital on a mountain!" Others.. commented on the folly of the impossible project...

    Money remained a problem, as Padre Pio refused to seek bank loans; and despite a gift of three and a half million francs from Emmanuele Brunatto, now wealthy Paris businessman... It was then that the English economist Barbara Ward came to the rescue... and was particularly interested in the work of the U.N. Relief and Rehabilitation Administration (UNRRA), ... Ward, then the baroness of Lodsworth wrote that the marquess urged her to stop at Foggia on her way to Taranto "and allow him to take me up to San Giovanni Rotondo to encounter the saintly Padre Pio, who, with his stigmata, his endless hours in the confessional, and his reputation for healing the sick, as already the drawing power for immense pilgrimages from Italy and ... other lands."...

    The next day Ward attended Padre Pio's Mass and was deeply impressed.... Ward and Sanguinetti began to wonder whether the Casa might qualify for an aid from UNRRA, which had as its priority the restoration of health services in war-ravaged areas... Ward contacted her fiance, Commander Jackson, asking for funding for the hospital as part of the rehabilitation of the foggia region.... On June 21, 1948, the UNRRA awarded a grand of four hundred million lire to the Italian government for La Casa... To Padre Pio's immense rage and stupefaction, the Italian government passed son only two hundred fifty million lire to the Casa....

    Work now proceeded rapidly. Lupi was able to maintain a payroll of three hundred fifty workers... To raise money, Padre Pio authorized lotteries, raffles, theatrical shows, artistic evenings, and even the showing of carefully screened movies... Large contributions began to come in from individuals from all over the world, but especially America and Switzerland.

    In connection with the CASA arose the "Prayer Groups," promoted and encouraged by the new magazine. We will recall that Padre Pio had been organizing informal prayer groups from the days when he was in Foggia... When asked his purpose for organizing the prayer groups, he answered, "To bring souls to the Lord, to encourage them to pray ... together ... with Jesus," insisting that "this certainly displeases Satan." By the the time he died, Padre Pio's "Prayer Army" numbered seven hundred groups in 14 countries with a membership of more than seventy thousand. On July 26, 1954, the outpatient clinic of the Casa was blessed and opened....                                                                       

    Finally the great day arrived, on May 5, 1956. A crowd of more than 15,000 was present for the inauguration of the Casa...

CHAPTER 24 - THE WORLD FOR A PARISH - P. 273 -

 

    The "enemies of God" were neither Marxists nor Fascists but Jehovah's Witnesses, who, under the leadership of a man named Cavaluzzo, were active in Padre Pio's hometown, holding meetings, distributing their literature, and even handing out money to the peasants. A number of Pietrelcinese had been re-baptized into the cult - in a nearby river. Now Cavaluzzo wanted to buy the vacant friary and turn it into a "Kingdom Hall."...

 

After some time Orlando managed to arrange a meeting with Mancinell, in which the archbishop stated frankly the reason for his opposition: "Capuchins cannot come to Pietrelcina because it would raise the question of their interest against those of the parish clergy .... Everyone would give their .... offerings to the Capuchins, because they are Padre Pio's monks, and [would] no longer [contribute] to the secular clergy, and I have to defend and the secular clergy because they are my dependents...

 

Thus, in April 1947, the first Capuchin friars arrived in Pietrelcina. Many Pietrelcinese hoped that the opening of the friary would be the occasion of Padre Pio's transfer to his hometown. Even though he knew this would not be the case, Padre Pio hoped, after three decades, to return to Pietrelcina for the consecration of the friary church in May 1951....

 

Meanwhile, Padre Pio was becoming an international celebrity. Before Bill Carrigan, the Red Cross Director, returned to America, he wrote a story about Padre Pio, relating the pilgrimages of soldiers during the war and a great number of them whose lives lives have been changed dramatically. Within months practically every Catholic periodical in America carried the story. Padre Pio was made known in America also by Maria Maria Pyle, who returned in 1948 to visit friends near Pittsburgh, settle the estate of her aunt,Sadie Pyle McAlpin, and solicit funds for the Casa...

 

The volume of mail addressed to Padre Pio increased enormously. In 1947 when Father Clement Neubauer, minister general o the Capuchin Order, visited San Giovanni Rotondo, he noted that Padre Pio was getting two hundred fifty letters a day, many of them from America. Almost all of the foreign mail was handled by Maria Pyle. A great number of people were writing their confessions in the letters, requesting penance and absolution. Clement decided that Pio needed an English-speaking priest for a secretary and the next year sent for his old friend and fellow-American Father Dominic Meyer....

 

Dominic's job was to talk with and advise English-and German-speaking pilgrims and, if possible, arrange brief meetings with Padre Pio. He noted that "most of them came out of devotion ... Some came out of mere curiosity, not so many." ...

 

Writing to his family in July 1949, Dominic recounted: "Often when I lay such questions before him from the letters which I  must answer , he says: "Tell them to be resigned and trust in the mercy of God" and "there is no answer to that question." Many continue to ask whether their boy or husband, missing in action, is still alive or not. Sometimes he answers definitely, " He is dead," but more often he merely gives an evasive answer to show that God did not reveal this to him." ... Maria Pyle also received a huge volume of mail, not only asking her to forward their intentions to Padre Pio, but often containing money for the CASA and their charities...

 

May, June and September were the busiest months for the friars, for it was then, Father Dominic observed, that "Italians get the wanderlust and go on pilgrimages. A group hires a bus or truck ... and travel from one sanctuary to another. It is not seldom that there are six to ten buses and four to eight trucks here on a day...

 

During the years following the war, the most significant development in San Giovanni was not change of superiors, nor the increase in mail, ... The most striking event was the construction of La Casa Solievo della Soffeerenza.

2. The legal immigrants came from all over the world and not only from Cuba, Vietnam, Poland, and Eastern Europe. They love America very much. 6. June 16th, Among America's most famous soldiers during the War for Independence were the Minutemen of Massachusetts. Concerned that their lives reflect Christian principles, the State Provincial Congress exhorted them with these words:

"You are placed by Providence in the post of honor, because it is he post of danger ... The eyes not only of North America and the whole British Empire, but all of Europe, are upon you. Let us be, therefore, altogether solicitous that no disorderly behavior, nothing unbecoming our character as Americans, as citizens and Christians, be justly chargeable to us." 7. June 19th, Charles Hodge, professor and theologian of Princeton Seminary, died on this day in 1878. Two years before, he had declared about America:

"No man is molested for his religion or for his want of religion. No man is required to profess any form of faith, or to join any religious association. More than this cannot reasonably be demanded. More, however, is demanded. The infidel demands that the government should be conducted on the principle that Christianity is false. The atheist demands that it should be conducted on the assumption that their is no God ... The sufficient answer to all this is: it cannot possibly be done. Hall, Rev. 156

    "Padre Pio's immediate family were now all at San Giovanni. His elder father, as we have seen, lived at the home of Maria Pyle, as he had done since 1938, ... he had become a fixture at the Pyle home, which he had brightened with his joy and serenity with his piety....he insisted that the household eat on their knees during Lent ...Whenever when anyone complimented Gra on being the father of Padre Pio, tears welled up in the old man's eyes as he insisted, " I didn't make him, Jesus Christ did."... Finally, one day Gra mustered the courage to seize his son's hand and kill it, announcing, "I am not kissing your hand. I am kissing the wound of Jesus Christ."...

 

    " .. On the third of October, Padre Pio began spending most of his time with his father, who would eat only when spoon-fed by his favorite child. At 9:30 in the evening of Oct. 7,
Grazio Maria Forgione entered into rest at the age of nearly eighty-six... I'm going to call the angels and tell to take me to heaven because I can say, "I'm Padre Pio's father!'"...

 

    "During his father's last illness Padre Pio was involved in politics more than at any time in his life. Now that the fascist peril was past, he was concerned about the growing strength of Communism. With Europe in ruins, the Reds were making alarming gains in Italy and other countries. But before a decision was made about the future of Communism in Italy, voters went to the polls to decide the fate of the monarchy, ...

     When the monarchy was abolished by popular vote, Pio expressed satisfaction. He remarked privately that the royal family were lacking in religious faith . When the time came for the election of delegates to the Italian assembly Padre Pio urged his disciples to vote for the Christian Democrats, who won an absolute majority over the Communists. Many Marxists blamed Padre io for their defeat, claiming that his very presence took votes from them.

    Two years later there was still a danger of a Communist victory in the elections. This time Padre Pio wrote to Premier Alcide De Gasperi, expressing his support for the Christian Democratic Party. With elections few weeks away, Padre Agostino noted in his diary that Pio "lining up victory on the side of law and order" by urging all pilgrims to Vote Christina Democrat.

 

    The Communists, of course, took a dim view of such priestly interference in the political arena. A few days before the elections, a Communist from the nearby town of San Marco in Lamis was campaigning from the back of a truck. As he passed near the friary, he shouted, 'Down with Padre Pio!" Moving toward the center of town, he was suddenly stricken with pains so severe that he had to be rushed to the nearest hospital (probably in Foggia), where surgeons opened him, determined that he was incurable, and sewed him up again. The pious attributed the man's fatal illness to divine retribution, for opposing Padre Pio. 

 

    There was the usual pandemonium as Padre Pio arrived at the polls on April 18. As he was emerging from his car, a woman ran into the street, shrieking obscene imprecations at him. In doing so, however, she stumbled and fell breaking her leg so badly that she had to be taken to a hospital without voting for her Communists. The Christian Democrats were victorious, and Padre Pio was hailed by many in southern Italy, where he was now arguably the region's best-known personality, as instrumental in keeping Italy from Communism. As they had in an earlier election, many Communists blamed Padre Pio for their defeat.

 

    The threat of Marxism made Padre Pio all the more concerned with the future of the Holy Family friary in Pietrelcina, which had been completed years before but had never been occupied by Capuchins because the archbishop of Benevento refused to grant the necessary authorization. During the war the building had been requisitioned for the billeting of Italian, then of German, then, finally, of allied soldiers. It was a wreck, its walls covered with obscene graffiti in Italian, German, English, and Polish...

    Michael J. McGivney, an Irish-American Catholic priest, founded the Knights of Columbus in New Haven, Connecticut. He gathered a group of men from St. Mary's Parish for an organizational meeting on October 2, 1881. It was incorporated on March 29, 1882. McGivney had originally conceived of the name "Sons of Columbus". James T. Mullen, who later led the organization coined the name "Knights of Columbus". which expressed the ritualistic nature of the new organization and drew from positive historical associations...

    Because of religious and ethnic discrimination, Roman Catholics in the late 19th century were regularly excluded from labor unions, popular fraternal organizations, and other organized groups that provided such social services. Papal encyclical issued by the Holy See also prohibited Catholics from participating as lodge members with Freemasonry...

CATHOLIC AND AMERICAN:

     Taking the name of Columbus was partially intended as a mild rebuke to Anglo-Saxon Protestant leaders, who upheld the explorer (a Genovese Italian Catholic who had worked for Catholic Spain) as an American hero, yet simultaneously sought to marginalize recent Catholic immigrants. In taking Columbus as their patron, the founders expressed their belief that not only could Catholics be full members of American society, they were instrumental in its foundation. 

     Of the first 28 members of the first council, 16 were born in Ireland. A majority of the first generation of Knights across the order were immigrants. Joining the Knights gave the recent immigrants a mantle of "middle-class Americans respectability without forfeiting their preexisting ethnic and religious identities", and gave them "a rhetorical foundation for claims to full American citizenship"... The Knights are today organized in about 17 countries.

    "On May 27, the Vatican announced that a miracle attributed to the intercession of Father McGivney had been approved by Pope Francis, a step which brings the beloved U.S. born priest one step closer to the beatification.... According to Supreme Knight Carl Anderson, the Knights of Columbus founder was a model of sanctity for the laity - especially the men. "Father McGivney has inspired generations of Catholic men to roll up their sleeves and put their faith into action," he said.     In America we are in a kind of cold war. Firstly, today within the last two weeks, the Barbarians on June 10th, tore down statues of Columbus in Virginia and Boston. They were built by Italian American immigrants. Anarchists  are not at our gates, they are within our cities. (Chaz in Seattle) They hate America, the police, and our free enterprise system. They call it Capitalism. Our economic system was created by the genius of our Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Many sympathize with the Barbarians. They hate all of our Founding Fathers. They use the rights of our Constitution to divide and destroy us. 

 

    Secondly, the Barbarians hate religious Christian believers. Baptist and Evangelicals are informed.  Catholics need help. For example, CNN is a mouthpiece of the culture of death. It's the truth. The recollections of Father Saint John of Padre Pio were of "a happy man." He had a nice chuckle. He was a holy, prayerful man, who spent most his time in the confessional. He had bright eyes and nice smile. He was a gentle person. He never raised his voice and had mild, controlled gestures. He spoke a few English words. He walked normally. He did not limp. He had a very dignified walk ... I smelled the perfume when I kissed the wounds. It was very mind. It was a pleasant odor. It was no big deal. It could have been shaving location. Father Duggan remembers that there were many Episcopalians and Presbyterians who attended his Mass, including at least one chaplain. Even Duggan was a little concerned. "Is there any chance of their becoming Catholic?" he asked Pio, who seemed untroubled and said, "If they intend to convert, the Lord will show a way." Padre Pio "was friendly with all of them' and never pressed anyone to convert."...

The war finally came to an end in the summer of 1945 and, during the next few months, the Americans and the British returned to their home. But San Giovanni was never the same. These men and women took the word of Padre Pio to their homes throughout the United States and the British Empire, and, as soon as passenger service was reestablished in the sea and air lanes of the world, a growing flood of pilgrims from every corner of the earth poured into San Giovanni Rotondo, for Padre Pio now had a mission to the world."

     It looks like we are in a kind of "Insurrection" throughout the country. I recall my motto in college, Justice is Truth in Action.  In our days, the truth is not very popular. Yesterday, I listened to Life, Liberty & Levin  on Fox TV at 7 P.M. Some of us including you and I are on the same wave length like Levin.

 

    The interview of Shelby Steele by Levin was interesting. Shelby wrote the book called "White Guilt." which helps one understand the mindset of the Leftist Liberals supposedly helping our Black Americans. Then there is Bob Woodson Center of 1776 and the work they are doing which the Mainstream Media {New York Times] deliberately ignores and blacks out for publication.

     I understand there were 18 black persons murdered in Chicago last weekend. Did you read anything in the news about this serious matters? I am all for Black Lives Matter. But the agenda of this organization does not get my support. Do you support voting at 16 and the hatred of policemen and policewomen? How about they're support of reparations of a few hundred thousand dollars for each black person, and closing down of all police departments and the sordid names they call them.

 

    I am also for Legal and Illegal Lives Matter. I am a proud legal immigrant from Canada. I joined the Army in 1958 and got my citizenship papers on April 2, 1962. {By the way a reminder for all readers, "If it wasn't for the United States involved in World War II, The world would all be speaking as a second language German or Russian."}  I also believe the Illegal Immigrants Matter. They are also subject to the laws of our country. But I hate the leftist democrats using the illegal immigrants for propaganda and the leftist purposes. 

 

    Becoming an American is kind of normal in the minds of all immigrants in 1959. We are joining millions of Americans before us in joining a melting pot of other Americans. The ideas of identity politics is Marxist hogwash and an insult to our identity as Americans. 

 

  There seem to be a lot of changes occurring in America since my citizenship in 1962. I don't like them. They are subversive and Marxist and have no foundation in American History. to be cont'd

Subversion of demonstrators stem from organized, well funded coordinated effort by socialist and communist groups by Bowen Xiao

 

    Communist groups - including the extremist organization Antifa  - are hijacking what started out as peaceful protests over the death of an unarmed black man to usher in a revolution, according to officials, experts, videos, and anarchists' own words.

 

    That charge come amid an unprecedented and coordinated effort behind the riots, the likes of which have never been seen before and which span across multiple states and involve often violent street-level tactics. Officials from both sides say that outside groups have exploited the recent momentum to further agenda. Minnesota Gov. Tim Waltz, a Democrat, noted that "bad actors continue to  infiltrate the rightful protests" and that 80% of the rioters have come from out side the state. Federal officials including President Donald Trump have pointed to Antifa.

 

    Bernard B. Kerik, former police commissioner of the New York City Police Department, said Antifa "100 percent exploited these protests," noting that their various websites control and dictate where protests start. "It's in 40 different states and 60 cities; it would be impossible for somebody outside of Anti-fa to fund this," he told The Epoch Times, "It's a radical, leftist, socialist attempt at revolution. 

 

    Operations including coordination, equipment, and travel costs would likely cost "tens of millions of dollars," Kerik said. A friend of his, an FBI agent, told him she was at Newark airport on May 29 where she observed "probably 25 of these Antifa kids walking through the airport." They're coming from other cities," he said,"That cost money. They didn't do this on their own. Somebody is paying for this."

 

"What Anti-fa is doing is they're basically hijacking the black community as their army," Kerik said. "They instigate, they antagonize, they get these young black men and women to go out there and do stupid things, and then the disappear off into the sunset. Photos later pulled off line, appear to show protesters with military grade communications radios and earpieces, Kerik said, noting: "They have to be talking somebody at a central command center with a repeater: Where do those radios go to?"

 

Andy Ngo, a journalist who has covered Antifa extensively, said the group is organized in "multiple units" with scouts that monitor the perimeter of an area providing live audio or text updates. Others carry out violent missions with weapons and fire bombs....

 

Communism expert Trevor Loudon, meanwhile, told the Epoch Times that Antifa is only one part of the picture, noting that "every significant communist or socialist party in the United States has been involved in these protests and riots from the beginning." According to Loudon, "Communist Party USA, Liberation Road, Freedom road Socialist Organization, Democrat Socialist of America, Revolutionary Communist Party, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation" have been involved...

 

"If the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis hadn't sparked these riots, the next one would have," Loudon said. "People need to understand that there are hundreds of foreign-trained agitators and organizations operating in this country, and tens of thousands more disciplined communists."..'

They were bought at slave at slave auctions centered in Ghana and Benin from black African slave owners. The 20 indentured servants who arrived in Virginia in 1619 had been captured and indentured by black African warlords as spoils of war. All of these facts undermine the Times' attack on American founding, so Hannah-Jones omits them.

  In the second place, Hannah-Jones' characterization of the founders as pro-slavery in her introduction is just an offensive slander. In the words of C. Bradley Thompson's scholarly study of the founders attitudes, American Revolutionary Mind: "Not a single revolutionary leader ever publicly praised slavery as a positive good. Benjamin Franklin speaking as President of the Pennsylvania Society promoting abolition of Slavery describing it as an 'atrocious debasement of human nature.'

George Washington, a slave owner, told a friend, "There is not a man living, who wishes more sincerely than I do to see a plan adopted for the abolition of [slavery]. At the Constitution Convention in 1787, James Madison told his colleagues. 'We have seen the mere distinction of color made in the most enlightened period of time, a ground of the most oppressive dominion ever exercised by man over man."

 

 Hannah-Jones' claim that the founders led a revolution to protect slavery is also transparently false. The year 1787 saw the passage of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, which established settlements of the region that would become Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. It was a geographical area as large as the existing 13 states. Article IV outlawed slavery in the unsettled land. What rational would the allegedly pro-slavery founders have for doing that? ...
