A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE OF JULY 4TH
In pursuit of the truth - http://www.cinopsbegoneblogspot.com
- July 4, 2016
1. On this day, John Hancock, the Chairman of the
Continental Congress. and the Secretary of the Congress both signed The
Declaration of Independence of the United States, thereby making it legal.
The only government document in the world history that is a creedal statement
of Bible-based ideals, it contains these phrases.
"We hold these truth to be self-evident, that all men
are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain
inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of
happiness ..."
"Appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the
rectitude of our intentions..."
"With a firm reliance on the protections of Divine
Providence."
2. A Call to Fall in Humble Prayer - Sunday, July 3,
2016
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble
themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will
I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land." (2
Chronicles 7:14)
3. The Call to Fall on Our Knees: -Sunday, July 3,
2016
Let's Focus on the Supreme Court and the years
before the Constitution was written in 1789.
On July 2nd, 1776, the thirteen colonies voted
to separate from England.
Referring to that vote a month later, Samuel Adams
declared, "We have on this day restored the Sovereign, to whom alone men
ought to be obedient. He reigns in Heaven and ... From the rising to the setting
sun, May his kingdom come!"
4. Another basic belief: On July 1st, a Catholic
Christian leader (Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI) had this to say in his prayer
book.# "If we lose God, we can no longer be what we are supposed to be because
we have lost our fundamental standard, everything else is immoderation and
perversion ... But we are right interiorly only if we are made conformable
to the truth of our being. and this truth is that God make us and he is our
ways."
5. I remember when I was a substitute teacher in
Waltham, Massachusetts. I was just discharged from the U.S. Army -( 3 years and
five month due to the Berlin Crisis.) In the Spring of 1962, with grades of 4th, fifth
and sixth grades. In the beginning of each class, read quotations from the
Bible. I thought that was a good beginning. However, the U.S. Supreme Court
disagreed. They voted that prayer in the U.S. Public Schools was
unconstitutional . They made legally and historically a tragic
mistake.
6. In his Letter to the Romans (Rom 1:19-20),
Apostle Paul answer to the metaphysical and moral cynicism of a decadent society
ruled only by the law of power is astounding. (Today's Culture
of Death America) He (Apostle Paul) asserts that in reality they do know
about God... "The truth was available to them but they did not want the
obligation it would entail ...People would oppose the truth that would place
demands upon them - the demands of such as the worship of God and giving of
thanks."
When we place our own will, our own pride, our
own comfort above the demands of truth, it is inevitable that will everything
will fall ultimately into decay.
God, to whom worship is due, will no longer be
worshiped; instead images, appearance, the prevailing point of view will hold
humanity in thrall. This universal distortion will hold humanity in thrall. This
universal distortion will spread to all walks of life.
What is contrary to nature will become the norm; the
individual who lives contrary to truth, lives contrary to nature. His ingenuity
will no longer be at the service of what is good but will be used instead to
devise original and artful forms of wickedness"....#
We pray to return to our roots as a nation and a
Supreme Court that mirrors our original beliefs.
George Kubeck
# July 3rd - "Co-Workers of the Truth" by Pope
Emeritus Benedict XVI.
