 "Several Republican members of the Judiciary Committee tried to blunt the coercive effects of Hr 5, by proposing amendments that would have prevented biological females from being forced to compete against biological males in any sporting event; protected health care providers from being forced to affirm the self-professed gender identity of an individual;

  
  protected parental rights to direct the medical of their children against efforts to facilitate changing the sexual identity of their children; and restored the Religious Freedom Restoration Act's conscience and religious liberty protections. All of these amendments were defeated on straight party line votes, proving that proponents of the Equality Act intend to require every policy the amendments sought to prohibit.

  
  The "Equality Act" is one egregious example of sexual progressives stepping up efforts to exclude from the public square those who live by the moral teachings of Moses and Jesus. Anyone who disagrees or questions the LGBTQ agenda, abortion and "reproductive rights" is described as guilty of depravity, bigotry and hatred, despite our following a faith based on loving God and loving neighbor.

   
 LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender, Queer) advocates preach "tolerance" but one prominent homosexual advocate, Frank Bruni, wrote in the April 3, 2015, NY Times: " ... debate about religious freedom should include a conversation about freeing religions and religious people from prejudices ... Mitchel Gold, a prominent ... gay philanthropist ... told me that church leaders must 'to take homosexuality off the sin list'...

    
Multi-millionaire leftist donor Tim Gill, who developed Quark Express, a desktop publishing program, announced his jarring diktat, "We're going to punish the wicked," in the June 2017 Rolling Stone magazine. Gill considers anyone, including Christians, who disagree with LGBTQ policies "the wicked." Mary Bonauto, the attorney, "married" to a woman, who argued the Obergefell same-sex "marriage" case, said, "We would not be where we are without Tim Gill and the Gill Foundation." [ Tim Gill is also responsible for turning Colorado from Republican to Democrat.]

Catholic Members of Congress Vote for the Equality Act

    All 74 Catholic Democrat members of the House who were present, including Catholic Speaker Nancy Pelosi, voted in support of HR 5. Six Catholic Republicans congressmen vote "yes" while 42 Catholic Republicans congressmen voted "no." The Senate companion bill, S.788, has been co-sponsored by ten Catholic Democrats and one Catholic Republican. (Only four of the Catholic Republicans senators & 1 Catholic Democrat senator haven't  cosponsored the so-called Equality Act.)

The Catholic bishops wrote a letter to Congress indicating their opposition to the Equality Act on March, 2019 stating, "The Act's definitions alone would remove women and girls from protected legal existence ... the Act also fails to recognize the difference between the person - who has dignity and is entitled to recognition of it - and all the actions of a person, which have ethical and social ramifications."....

    "The Equality Act, HR 5, passed by Congress on May 17, 2019, would fundamentally and radically alter Civil Rights Law to prohibit "discrimination" on the basis of "sexual orientation" and "gender identity," in the same way racial discrimination is prohibited...The Equality Act would:

1. Require faith-based hospitals, doctors and nurses to participate in and/or to perform or assist with abortions or lose their medical license;

2. Require tax funding of all abortions without restrictions;

3. Mandate that any entity that provided health care for pregnancy and childbirth be required to provide abortion as a "related medical condition.";

4. Force women to share private, intimate spaces with men who "identify" as female including in bathrooms, lockers, schools, hospitals, prisons, gyms, military barracks and homeless shelters.

5. Disallow Catholic and private school single sex sports teams from competing against public school sports teams, which will no longer be permitted to have "discriminating" single sex teams;

6. Decertify Catholic and Christian schools from satisfying state compulsory attendance laws if they refuse to adopt LGBTQ policies, treating religious schools as "hate groups" comparable to the K.K.K.;

7. Forbid groups like the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Charities and Christian non-profits from receiving community block grants from local governments for housing for the disabled or seniors unless they accommodate the LGBTQ agenda including hiring those who identify as homosexual or transgender:

8. Prohibit Catholic schools and parishes from obtaining construction loans from federally chartered banks or savings institutions unless the schools and churches implement the LGBTQ agenda including hiring active homosexual and transgender teachers in same sex "marriages";

9. Remove children from the legal custody of their parents if they try to prevent their minor children from taking cancer-causing, puberty-blocking drugs or cross-sex hormones;

10. End women-only or men-only shelters serving drug addicts, the battered, and the homeless;

11. Decertify foster care and adoption agencies which do not place children with homosexual partners;

12, Require small businesses owned by Catholics to promote and affirm LGBTQ sexual behavior or face fines and/or loss of their business licenses;

13. Remove the tax-event status of Catholic churches and agencies if they fail to "celebrate" same-sex "weddings." The Equality Act would classify churches as "public accommodations" (like hotels and restaurants), prohibited from denying services on account of sexual orientation, in the same manner services cannot now to be denied on account of race....

A Double Standard:

  

    "Is a border now un-Christian?" asked Silvia Canto Jr., himself a Catholic, for American Thinker. "How did we get to the point that defending borders and promoting legal immigration and promoting legal immigration is now inhumane? (February 19)

   
 As Mr. Trump's campaign famously pointed out, the Vatican itself is surrounded by a massive wall and has one of the most restrictive immigration policies in the world.

    
In Europe, Cardinal Reinhard Marx, chairman of the German bishops' conference, said in February, 2016 "As a church, we say that we need a reduction in the number of refugees.: But when it comes to America, keeping migrants out is "un-Christian." Did the pope say this simply because he loves migrants? Contrast his statements against D.Trump with the way he has treated other world leaders.

  
 "El Papa just visited Cuba," Canto continued. "He hugged and embraced Raul Castro, a man who has executed priests, and harassed religious leaders, and closed Christian schools years ago. Did he call the Castro brothers un-Christian?" When the pope visited Cuba in 2015, he "refrained from issuing even coded criticism of the Communist government," as the Telegraph put it (Sept. 20,2015). The Patriotic Union of Cuba, a pro-democracy group, complained, "The pope did not utter a phrase of solidarity with the victims of repression and, when traveling from Cuba to the United States, told the press that he did not know about the detention of pacifist dissidents" (Sept. 23,2015).

   
 To use the pope's own words. "This is not in the Gospel." The Castro brothers aren't the only authoritarian leaders the pope has refrained from criticizing. "One relationship Francis has patiently cultivated is with Putin," wrote Foreign Affairs (Sept. 25, 2015). Italy's L'Expresso magazine wrote that "Francis has always done all he could not to annoy the patriarchate of Moscow and the imperial politics if Vladimir Putin, even at the cost of sowing the strongest disappointments among the bishops, clergy and faithful of the Catholic Church in the region" (February 12). He won't criticize these men, but he is quick to condemn the U.S. What does that say about the pope's worldview?

Which nation is the front runner of the free market global capitalism? The United States of America. If Pope Francis is to be taken at his word, he couldn't  possibly wish for the leader of capitalist system to strive prosper."

I agree with Pope Francis, "A good Catholic meddles in politics." But it should be of a Catholic origin not a Marxist one. This brings us to the Equality Act, HR. 5 passed by Congress, May 17, 2019. We're in a moral crisis.  Its consequences needs to be spoken about weekly by all U.S. Catholic Bishops. "The hottest places in hell are reserved by those who remain neutral during a national moral crisis."

    "Like his fellow liberal Jesuits, Pope Francis often seems to exude enthusiasm for every religion except his own. In his extreme ecumenism, he is conforming to the lowest-common-denominator culture of a post-Christian age.     Even as Pope Francis pours scorn upon traditional Catholicism - he regularly caricature conservative Catholics as heartless "Pharisees" - he heaps praise upon Protestantism, non-Christian religions, and atheism.

     The Western media has been enamored with the ecumenism of this pope since the beginning of his pontificate when, at his first press conference, he spoke of his respect for "non-believers." The left-leaning Religious News Service was so struck by his lack of interest in Catholic evangelization that it asked in a headline: "Is Francis the First Protestant Pope?"

    Pope Francis is particularly quick to defend and bolster Islam, a historic adversary of the Church. He repeatedly called it a religion of peace," even as Islam's persecution of Catholics intensifies and its radical branches spread terrorism throughout the world. "Our respect for true followers of Islam should lead us to avoid hateful generalizations, for authentic Islam and the proper reading of the Quran are opposed to every form of violence," Pope Francis wrote in Evangeli Gaudium."

    Speaking to Sun TV, Robert Spencer, and expert on Islam, responded to the pope's statement: "I don't hesitate to say that this statement is flatly wrong, it's misleading and it's a shame because it gives the Christians who are being persecuted by Muslims in Nigeria, in Egypt, in Syria, in Iraq and elsewhere no support, it doesn't give them any help to deny and dissemble about the root cause of why they are being persecuted in the first place." 

    Pope Francis hews closely to the fashionable liberal talking points about Islam. In a anticipation of his liberal papacy, he had joined the Western liberal elite in denouncing Pope Benedict XVI for a speech critical of Islam that he delivered at the University of Regensberg. Yet nothing Pope Benedict XVI said about Islam is that speech was untrue. Indeed, the violent response to his comments only confirmed their validity....

    In a 2016 interview with the French newspaper La Croix, Pope Francis outrageously likened the concept of jihad within Islam to the preaching of the Gospel in Christianity. "It is true that the idea of conquest is inherent in the soul of Islam. However, it is also possible to interpret the objective in Matthew's Gospel, where Jesus sends his disciples to all nations, in terms of the idea of conquest," he said.

An Apologist for Islam

    "On Islam the Catholic Church stammers, the more to the higher up the ladder one goes," wrote Sandro Magister in 2014. "[Pope Francis] remained silent on the hundreds of Nigerian school children abducted by Boko Haram. He remained silent on the young Sudanese mother Meriam Ibrahim, sentenced to death solely for being Christian and finally liberated by the intervention of others. He remains silent on the Pakistani mother Asia Bibi who has been on death row for five years, she too because she is an 'infidel,' and does not even reply to the two heartrending letters she has written to him this year, before and after the reconfirmation of the sentence."  ...

    "The Vatican's newspaper L'Osservadore Romano often runs pieces in defense of Islam and treats Western criticism of it as "blasphemous," a claim that would only make sense if Catholicism never has. As St. Thomas Aquinas wrote of Muhammad, "He seduced the people by promise of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us." Along with countless popes, Aquinas regarded Islam as a combination of half-truths, "fables, and doctrines of the greatest falsity," without the slightest odor of sanctity about them: "Muhammad said that he was sent in the power of his arms - which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants."...

Good Intentions (GI) minus Wisdom (W) leads to Evil (E)

    
You weren't taught this rule at college because the modern university believes only science has rules. "Rules of life" is another term for wisdom, and there is no wisdom - or even pursuit of wisdom - at our universities. "Ingratitude makes happiness impossible." + "Human nature is not basically good." + "Corrupt people think everyone else is as corrupt as they are." + "Feelings are far less important than actions." + "Most men need a woman to mature. Most women need a man to mature."

   
The list is long. And the more life rules people know and live by the better they'll be. - the better the world would be. There is a reason Jordan Peterson's book "12 Rules for Life" has sold millions of copies, mostly to young people. It is the same reason PragerU has a billion views each year, mostly from young people under 35. Many young people are sensing that they have been cheated by the adults that have taught them, for example, to pursue self-esteem rather than self-control - a "rule" guaranteed to lead to moral and professional failure.

    
 But one rule almost no one was taught, that explains the most organized evil and the left in particular, from the Bolsheviks to Mao to Castro to Chavez by your every day leftist in New York or Iowa: Good intentions without wisdom leads to evil.

   
Communism, the greatest mass murder ideology in history, was for almost all its rank-and-file supporters rooted in their desire to do good. (This was rarely true for its leaders, whose greatest desire was power.) The many millions of people all over the world who supported communism did not think they were supporting unprecedented levels of mass murder and torture or an equally unprecedented deprivation of the most fundamental human rights of a substantial percentage of humanity.

They thought they were moral, building a beautiful future for humanity -- eliminating inequality, enabling people to work as hard or as little as they wanted, providing their fellow citizens ...that they were good because their motives were good. That's why leftists have such moral contempt for those who differ with them. Because those on the left are so good, only bad human beings could possibly oppose them. That is the position of virtually every editor and columnist at the New York Times. ...

Tens of millions of well-intentioned westerners supported Stalin. The Westerners who supplied Stalin the secrets to the atomic bomb were not motivated by evil. They were simply fools. But few evil people did as much to hurt the world as they did. They are fools partly because they believe good intentions are all that matter....

Democrats who push the country-bankrupting Green New Deal provide a contemporary example. They not only deny the economy and society - crushing consequences of the Green New Deal, they deny any price will be (that may be paid.)... If the Green New Deal is enacted, the American economy will tank - and with it, much of the rest of the world. Tyrannies like China and Iran will be emboldened, as will dictatorships like Russia. On every issue in which the left differs from conservatives (and often from liberals), they are fools.

They routinely label the beacons of freedom on Earth as racist, misogynistic, homophobic, imperialistic, genocidal; cheapen the label "Nazi"; promote all-black dorms and graduation; promote preteen boys' performing drag shows; tell young women career is more important to happiness than marriage; believe a country can remain a distinct nation with open boarders; condemn parents who try to reassure their 3-year-old son that he is a  boy; and ruin the university, the arts, late-night comedy, pro-football and religion.... But they mean well."

A Personal Experience and Perspective

  

  My wife Michaelene and I moved to Rowntree Gardens on July 30, 2015. I rented a Studio Apartment D-111 in the Acacia Building and she moved to Garden Memory Care.  I couldn't take care of Michaelene any more because she had advanced Alzheimer.

   
 Rowntree Gardens is a beautiful and spacious independent facility of eight acres located in Stanton, California. It was founded by the Quakers about 55 years ago. It has about 300 residents and about 300 employees including care-givers (part time mostly). It is the largest employer in Stanton, California.

   
 Rowntree Gardens is an all inclusive facility.                                          What Makes Rowntree Gardens Special?  

  1. For us, there is a Catholic Church, St. Polycarp only 5-6 minutes away by car. Michaelene and I have  been Life Members of the Dominican Laity. Our Mass was daily at St. Peter Chanel in Hawaiian Gardens with the Liturgy of the Hours. For myself today, at 88 with no car, a cane and a walker, St. Polycarp is a one-half mile away. I go once weekly via walker, 20 minutes and a few more minutes to Walgreen or around the other corner to CVS. For regular walkers, one-half mile is a skip and a hop.  

  
  2. For myself alone now, the price is right. (Monthly $3389) I'm two minutes away from meals at 6:30 AM, 11 AM, and 4:15 PM. I can't cook. Also, I'm 29 steps away from a free laundry and ironing facility. 

   3. OK! What is it like living here? They do everything possible to make you feel at home and keep you healthy and safe.  Their activities department and travel are outstanding.  Let's check out the last five days. On Saturday, Sep. 7, in the morning, I took the walker to Mass at 8:30 AM, and in the evening, at 6:30 PM we had a performance by George Rossi. I decided to have a time my life experience, danced 7 times with 4 ladies and participated in George's closing songs assembly which ended at 7:30 PM.

   
4. On Sunday, Sep. 8, my son picked me up at 7:15 AM to attend MASS at 7:30 AM at St. Polycarp. Also, at Rowntree there are weekly 10 AM services in the Non-Denominational Heartwood Chapel for all. On Monday, Sep. 9, I participated in a Rosary Prayer at 10:15 AM in the Elmwood Care Center, and then in the afternoon, I attended a movie, "Knight at the Museum." At 5 PM, there was a special Birthday Dinner for all in residence born in September.  

  
 5. On Tuesday, At 10 AM, Sep. 10, I attended a Veterans Monthly Social, then we had a great outing to the Sistine Chapel Exhibit at the Christ Cathedral at 12:30 PM. It took us only 13 minutes to get there.  On Wednesday, Sep. 11th, Patriot Day, at 10 AM, we had the weekly Rosary and Bible Sharing on the third floor Cedars Lounge. In the afternoon, I had a dental appointment and missed the 1:30 PM, 9/11 Remembrance Program. In the evening at 6 PM, I played the game Bridge rather poorly.

    "In June 1918, Pio wrote to Benedetto: "How can I tell you of the agonizing pain which is causing my soul a martyrdom? ... I feel ... crushed by His mighty hand. Tears are my daily bread. I toss and turn, I seek Him, but I do not find Him ... except in the fury of His justice." Although he still access to supersensible wisdom with regard to others. Pio continued to be in the dark." about his own soul. Moreover the experience of God's love seem to have been withdrawn. "He has blotted out everything." Pio writes, "and I, alas, am lost in the thickest darkness, while I return in vain to disconnected memories of a lost love.... O Great God, where art Thou to be found? I have lost Thee! I cannot find Thee again because Thou hast accepted forthwith the total offering I made to Thee!"

 

    Deprived of the light to see his own way, Pio had to rely totally upon the counsel of Benedetto and Agostino. Agostino later wrote that he felt that God brought about Pio's trial to keep him humble: to know how successfully he was fulfilling God's will would have been too great a temptation to spiritual pride. Pio speaks of his fear that he is "about ground into powder" beneath the heavy hand of a God who is justly angry with him. Yet he prays, "I ask of Thee the strength to suffer, stripped of all consolation. Make these resolutions of mine constant, steadfast, and fruitful so that they may at least suffice to disarm Thy fury."

 

    Benedetto assured Pio that his bitter anguish was part of his participation in the passion of Christ for the sake of mankind. "The Omnipotent wants to make a holocaust of you," he told Pio.

 

    Pio frequently renewed his offering of himself as a victim for various intentions. In July, Pope Benedict XV urged all Christians to pray for an end to the world war, which was still raging; and, on July 27, despite his sufferings, Pio offered himself as a victim for the end of the war. "No sooner had I made this offering," he wrote, "than I felt myself plunged into a terrible prison and heard the crash of the gate behind me." From that moment, every minute of the day he felt as if he was in hell. He told Benedetto: "I no longer know the way. I no longer have as single ray of light, not one torch, not one single guideline, no life and no more truth to understand how I can nurture or refresh myself. Thus, I hope against hope, as you suggested to me." He is willing to be swallowed by the tempest, like Jonah, but "at the bottom of the sea I fear that I will find nothing but everlasting death." ...

 

    "In the late summer of 1918, with the Great War still raging, the terrible worldwide pandemic of Spanish influenza struck central Italy... In San Giovanni Rotondo, the situation was scarcely less appalling. Everyone seemed to be ill. What commerce there was in the town ground to a standstill. 

    Padre Pio's spiritual daughters came to him terrified, begin him to save them from this wicked strain of the flu. "Never fear," he said to Maria Campanile. "Put yourself under the protection of the Virgin, do not sin, and the sickness will not overcome you." Although some fell ill, none of them died....

 

    Padre Pio described his stigmatizing several times in his life, but his account given under obedience, to Padre Benedetto in October 1918.... when Padre Pio went to the choir between nine and ten in the morning and sat on the "vicar's bench" to make his thanksgiving after celebrating Mass. It was then he told Benedetto, "I was overtaken by a repose, similar to a deep sleep. All my internal and external senses and even the very faculties of my soul were steeped in indescribable quiet. In this state absolute silence reigned within me... I was filled with great peace and abandonment that blotted out every other worry or preoccupation. All this happening in a twinkling." It was then that he saw the same "mysterious Exalted Being" ... who wounded him on August 5. He did not identify the Exalted Being as Christ, but described the hands, feet, and side as dripping blood. The countenance of the celestial visitor frightened him. " I thought I should die and really should have died if the Lord hadn't intervened to strengthen my heart, which was ready to burst out of my chest....

 

  It is clear that Padre Pio, at least by the end of his life, identified the "Exalted Being" who appeared to him in August and September of 1918 as Christ.... Although Padre Pio was glad to suffer the pain of stigmatization .... he was mortified at the thought of people seeing the wounds....

Paul Kedrosky, senior fellow at the Kauffman Foundation (a liberal think tank) said, "We need a fresh start, and we need it now ... we need ... a Jubilee" ...But for progressives, a Debt Jubilee doesn't go far enough in terms of social- handout programs that will win voters.That's why Bernie Sanders and Sen. Harris teamed up and presented a "Medicare for All" bill in the Senate...
