The War against the Truth, the Church and Orthodox Theologians*

The War against the Truth, the Church and Orthodox Theologians
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Friday, July 29, 2011

1. *Journalism is meaningful only when it helps us to learn the truth. It can be a genuine calling only when there is a truth that is good. Then it is right and necessary to help this truth and to find its proper expression. The fundamental certainty that GOOD does exist and that we are created for it is not an obstacle to the work of the journalist, but rather makes it possible. It must be the first pillar of genuine journalistic ethics. Non-Christians, too, can find this fundamental certainty… [Jul 26th m.]

*It is impossible to act rightly without truth. That is why the will to know the truth, to seek it humbly and with a readiness to learn it, is the basic prerequisite of all morality… The fact that listening to the truth must precede all our actions means also that the will of God is superior to all our plans and projects. [July 27th meditation]

The Response: What do you do when journalism is dead and political correctness rules the nation? Both Dennis Prager and Glenn Beck talk about this matter. Are we prepared to speak the truth and to fight for it in the face of us being smeared by our opponents, the supporters for the culture of death? How do you deal with religious correctness? The overwhelming evidence and research in this blog is that a faithful Catholic cannot vote for any CINOP. (Catholic-in-name-only politician)

2. *“Look not upon the sins of the Church but upon by faith …”Should this really happen, the consequences will be grave: the faults of the individuals become the faults of the Church, and faith is reduced to a personal event, to my way of understanding and of accepting God and his demands. I REALLY FEAR THAT TODAY THIS IS A WIDESPREAD MANNER OF FEELING AND THINKING.

*It is another sign of how greatly in many places the common Catholic consciousness has distanced itself from an authentic conception of the Church. “We must go back to saying to the Lord: “WE SIN, BUT THE CHURCH THAT IS YOURS AND THE BEARER OF FAITH DOES NOT SIN.”… We must always bear in mind that the Church is not ours but his… Real “reform” is to strive to let what is ours disappear as much as possible so what belongs to Christ may become more visible. [July 28th m.]

*It is a well known to the saints. Saints, in fact, reformed the Church in depth, not by working up plans for new structures, but by reforming themselves. What the Church needs in order to respond to the needs of man in every age is holiness, not management.

2. *Wherever theology generates theological parties and these parties become Church parties, it has become a false wisdom. It creates enmities and embitters people. I must admit that what shocks me most deeply in many letters and publications is the rank hatred of the Church and her members that speaks through them. [July 29th meditation]

The Response: Are the theologians and writers at these magazines – America, Commonweal and National Catholic Reporter prepared to follow through on Pope Benedict’s analysis?

George H. Kubeck P.S. *without doubt, this book in 1992 by Pope Benedict, “Co-Workers of the Truth” when he was still a Cardinal overflows with common sense and reasonableness. The book is a guide for the Catholic Laity.
