Chapter 29 - The Doctor p. 330 - 334

 

" Daughter Lina, when she was little, was on her way to a friend's birthday party when she was struck down by a moped. This was before La Casa Sollievo della Sofference. was in existence, so the child was taken unconscious to the first-aid station in town, where Giovanni and Rosa were told that 1) their daughter had suffered some sort of head trauma:  (2) she was suffering from severe internal hemorrhaging the abdominal cavity; and (3) she was in a coma/ Since there was no way of getting Lina, in her condition to the nearest hospital, which was twenty-five miles away, there was nothing to be done - but wait. Giovanni and Rosa hurried to the friary and told Padre Pio, who "looked into heaven like he saw another realty," and said, "Let's pray and leave everything to our Lord's hands." Three days later Lina opened her eyes, "Papa! Papa!" She recovered quickly and completely. ...

 

    In the meantime, Padre Pio was asking everyone he knew to pray for Giovanni for three days. He exposed the Blessed Sacrament in behalf of the blinded man. He was heard to pray, "Lord, I offer You one of my eyes for Giovanni, because he's the father of the family...

 

Later that morning an ophthalmologist came to examine Savino's left eye,"I can see You!" exclaimed the injured man . "Turn, so you can see ne wug your left eye," said the doctor. "No, I see you with my right eye. I don't see anything out of my left eye." The doctor insisted that he was seeing out of the left eye, as the right one was totally destroyed. After further examination it was clear that Savino spoke the truth. He was blinded in the eye from which the shrapnel had been removed, but he was seeing perfectly from the eye that had been shattered to a bloody jelly. The ophthalmologist, who had been an atheist exclaimed, "Now I too believe, because this has happened right in front of me." ...

 

Giovanni, who was treated for the extensive injuries to his face, was released from the hospital in early June. When he thanked Padre Pio, he was told, "If you only knew what this cost me." What did it cost him? A clue may come from the recollections of Pierre Cugino, himself blind, who recalled that one day in the garden, while talking to his confreres, Padre Pio suddenly exclaimed, "I'm blind, I can't see a thing." After twenty minutes his eyesight returned. Cufino was hazed about the date of this occurrence, but could it have been that this brief and inexplicable episode of blindness came about as a result of the offering Padre Pio had made in behalf of Giovanni Savino?...

 

A number of cures attributed to Padre Pio were of blind or nearly blind persons. in the spring of 1946 a nun from Ribera, Sicily, wrote to Padre Pio about a seven-year-old girl by the name of Gemma Di Giorgio, whom she alleged had been born without pupils in her eyes and was totally blind. Shortly afterward, the child's grandmother brought the child to Padre Pio. When she arrived, she claimed that Gemma began to see while they were on the train. Padre Pio heard the girl's first confession, administered he First Communion and made the sign of the cross over her eyes...

 

The facts that can be definitely established are these: (1) Gemma Di Giorgio was born with severe congenital defect of the eyes: (2) before the prayers of Padre Pio were enlisted, her vision was either quite defective or altogether nonexistent; and (3) afterward, though the physical structure of the eye remained unchanged. Gemma was able to see normally - even though officially classified as legally blind... Padre Pio was reluctant to speak about the Di Giorgio case. When a man praised him for obtaining the cure of the blind girl, he coldly demanded, "Did you witness it? I said, Did you witness it? Did you witness it?" The man said no more...

    Padre Agostino noted several other apparent miracles in his diary. On June 10, 1945, there came to San Giovanni a Signora Massari,  ... For twenty years she had been totally deaf, and "asked the Lord [for a cure] through the intercession of Padre Pio." While at Mass she suddenly began to hear the priest chanting. As she left the church, she heard the bells ringing and the conversation of the congregation.

     In many ways, our newcomers are Hero Immigrants.  They started completely poor and unable to speak English. This was truly the land (Canada/U.S.A.) of opportunity and freedom. They were willing to learn a skill, job or trade. They obeyed the laws of the country and respected law enforcement. They purchased homes and raised their families. With citizenship, they became proud and patriotic American citizens.                                                                                                 

    They are the unreported  and the unrepresented voices of  The New York Times and The Mainstream Media. The New York Times has betrayed and prostituted the profession of journalism.  Our new citizens want nothing to do with the Marxist interpretation of American history and hate fake news. They are going to vote, and always fight for traditional America.

    They came from Europe, Vietnam and Cuba and all over the world during the last 90 years. They love America. They don't hate America. Shame on the State of Washington and the State of Oregon. Yesterday, I viewed on C-Span the interview of Attorney General Barr, by the Nadler Democratic Committee. It was a rough informative interview of 5 hours.

     It is possible that both of the above states have thousands of sympathizers of Antifa, Communists, Anarchist and Marxist socialists? These rioters believe in the violent overthrow of America. They have a hatred for America and traditional America. They are destroying Federal property and are breaking federal laws. They need to be arrested, prosecuted and jailed. Likewise if one of the goals of "Black Lives Matter" is: "We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and "villages" that collectively care for another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable." Chapter 28 - Extraordinary Traveler p. 324 - 329

    We are already acquainted with the incident in 1905, when the 17 year old Fra Pio found himself, through bi-location, at the birth of Giovanna Rizzani.  We have seen that Padre Pio also bi-located, in some fashion, to the Cerase sisters, and we have a testimony that he likewise appeared to a friend of Nina Companile in 1918... Throughout the years there were sightings of Padre Pio from Hawaii to California to South Africa... Many, no doubt, resulted from people seeing what they wanted to see...                       

    Padre Alessio entered Padre Pio's room one night and found him shivering -- even though it was a warm evening and generally sensitive to the heat rather than the cold. Pio also seemed to be in a trance. Alessio piled blanket after blanket upon the shivering priest without any change in his condition. Later he learned that at that very hour, a man dying high in the Alps insisted that Padre Pio was present with him...

    We will recall how Padre Pio was forced to cancel his plans to attend the consecration of the friary at Pietrelcina in 1951. Yet he told Padre Agostino, "I will be present in Pietrelcina and at the same time I will be in the confessional at Giovanni Rotondo. After the ceremony, Padre Alberto D'Apolito attempted to describe the Church. "I know it better than you do," insisted Pio. When Alberto asked if he had seen a photograph of the edifice. Pio said, "I was there. I can describe to you the most minute details and even the number of steps on the stairway in the entrance, which you don't know." This is one of the few accounts in which Padre Pio seemingly raised the subject of bi-location, even boasting of it. Or was he joking?...

     Immediately it occurred to the son-in-law that Padre Pio had been there. Dominic asked Pio, "Did you assist my Dad in his final moments?" Pio smiled and answered, "Si." "Is he in heaven?" Pio replied, "If he is not in heaven he is at the gate, ready to enter." A year later, when Dominic asked again, he received the reply, "He's in heaven long already."...

    There is no question that Padre Pio believed that he visited his spiritual children through bi-location (or " astral-projection," as the phenomena is sometimes called)... Another time he said that bi-location wan an "extension of body and soul" and he sometimes went with "with body and soul," but on other occasions, his angel assumed his bodily form and voice. He told Padre Alessio, "I know only that it is God who sends me. I do no know whether I am there with my soul or body, or both of them.

    Padre Pio, evidently, was never interested in analyzing the phenomenon. He was interested only in doing God's will. "Whether it is true or not that I am found in various places by bi-location, tri-location, or whatever," he told a confrere, "you must ask God and not me. All I can tell you that I always try to remain attacked to the thread of His will. For this reason, I am always where I am." 

    There was one question about bi-location that Padre Pio could and would answer clearly. Asked what language he employed in his travels," He replied, "Italian. And how many miracles would you want the Lord to perform."

COMMENTARY:

    What is the difference between the Chinese Communist Party and a Nazi-Racist Socialist Party in Germany an economic powerhouse? Or, What is the difference between the New York Times and Pravda in Communist Russia during World War II. There isn't any difference in both examples.

 

    "My people are destroyed for lack of information!" We are not getting honest information from the New York Times. Concerning the existence of local extremists organizations, why are we not getting it from the FBI? There is something wrong with the leadership of the FBI in Washington, D.C. The New York Times has prostituted and destroyed the integrity of journalism. The New York Times has a contempt for ordinary Americans particularly if they have Christian beliefs. On January 9, 1966  the leaders of the gangs met Tarrau at Prison Hq. The meeting lasted only a few minutes. They discussed the reasons the counterrevolutionary prisoners gave for not going into the Rehabilitation Program and formulated a plan to force us to enter. The method they decided on was an operation  of real terror. The heads of the gangs received bloody orders: they were given free rein to kill prisoners in each gang...

   
Three examples will show the extent of the violence and cruelty the guards could engage in with impunity. The head of one of squads, a man named Arcia, wanted to humiliate JULIO TAN, so he ordered him to pull weeds with his hands. Tan refused. The squad leader, bayonet in hand attacked and wounded him. JULIO trying to escape the blows of the bayonet fell to the ground. Behind him another of the guards hit him with a hoe. That was the moment Arcia was waiting for. He plunged the bayonet into JULIO TAN;s thigh and moved it around in a circle to enlarge the wound. JULIO bled to death within minutes.

   
 DIODADA AQUIT had picked up his plate and was standing in front of the truck as he did every afternoon... There was a strong gusty wind blowing. AQUIT's hat flew off his head and fell a few yards away. He asked the squad leader for permission to get out of line and pick up his hat, and the soldier told him to wait a minute, he was going to do the count, but when the count was over. AQUIT could get his hat. The squad leader began the headcount, came to the end, turned around, and signaled the prisoner to pick up his hat... but he never straightened up again. From the back of the line, one of the escorts had emptied his AK rifle's magazine into AQUIT's back. "That'll teach you not to get out of line without permission!" he said, gesturing at him with the still-smoking barrel.

ROBERT LOPEZ and I had been together since 1961. He was an idealistic young man, freckled, very pleasant, very pleasant. He declared that he was on a hunger strike ... wouldn't work anymore, wouldn't take the beatings and the harassment anymore..When the guards agreed to take him back to the Circular, everyone thought he was going to the hospital. But the convoy went on to the punishment cells, and they threw ROBERTO inside. They cut of his water to make his agony even more painful. 

   
 Captain Morejion went to his cell and asked him what he wanted. And ROBERTO told home the only thing he wanted was some flowers put on his grave when he died... ROBERTO spent weeks on the hunger strike. His thirst made his ordeal even worse, and hastened its outcome. As he was dying, he kept crying for water. The men in the adjoining cells called the guards ... bring him water...but instead, the guards took out the prisoner who was yelling and gave him a beating with thick braided electrical cord. All morning you can hear ROBERTO calling out for water.

     Finally two or three of the guards opened the gate to the punishment-cell complex. They went all the way to the back, where ROBERTO was lying on the floor. They stopped only when their boots were almost touching the prisoner's cadaverous face. "You want water?" one of the guards said. "Well, drink piss!" And he pulled out his member and urinated on ROBERTO's face, in his eyes, in his gasping mouth. The next day ROBERTO was dead." ... George H. Kubeck

    "There is also some evidence that Padre Pio spoke in unknown tongues. We will recall that when Karl Klugkist was blessed by Padre Pio, he used "a mystical formula, in an oriental language unknown to me." Pio, however, never taught that such a gift should be considered normative, nor is there any record of his having encouraged anyone to seek it... This brings us to a charism that many find difficult to accept, namely Padre Pio's apparent ability to converse with angels and other supernatural beings...

   
Padre Pio, in fact, urged his spiritual children, if they were in trouble, to send their guardian angels to him... One day I (Padre Alessio) missed picking him up from the confessional box when I approached him to ask forgiveness for not being on time, he looked at me and pointed his finger at me and said, "Do you think I will continue to send my guardian angel to you every morning to wake me up...

 Padre Alessio believed that Padre Pio communicated not only with his own guardian angel but also with those of his spiritual children while he prayed his Rosary during the afternoon Siesta. Sometimes, when the younger priest tried to get his attention, Pio responded, "Come on, my son, leave me alone. Don't you see that I am very busy? Didn't you seen all those guardian angels going back and forth from my spiritual children, bringing messages from them?"...

  
  Padre Pio clearly did not always see into the heart, into the next world, or in the future. At times he was frankly annoyed when people pestered him about such things. At times, his judgments and assessments were wrong... Perhaps Padre Pio supernatural knowledge could best he described as prophecy... "one who is called" - is God's mouthpiece, called to convey the Lord's will...

  
  Like Moses, whose face glowed so brilliantly after communicating directly with God, that he had to wear a veil to keep from dazzling the children of Israel. Padre Pio reportedly, at prayer, was sometimes seen to glow with supernatural light. ...

   
 Hopcke concluded: "Not having known Padre Pio personally, as have the Mandatos, and having, I like to think, a very rational, logical mind, I neither totally believe nor disbelieve the stories of Padre Pio. The sheer volume of them tends to make me believe that something indeed miraculous took place in the presence of this obviously holy, devout Capuchin. However, the far-fetched character of many of these tales reactivates the skeptic within me. Nevertheless, I cannot deny that before I even spoke of what I smelled, Mr. Mandato had described it perfectly."...

   
 What was the significance of the perfume? "When they smell incense," Pyle insisted, it means that he wants prayer." Antonio D'Enchia, bishop of Monopoli, described the aroma as "almost always a premonition of happy events or favors or as a reward for generous efforts to perform virtuous acts." Yet Padre Pio told Joe Peterson that the aroma was merely "sweet for the children."

    Padre Pio did not like to discuss any of his charismata. He certainly did not consider them an occasion for pride. He was known to comment, "God make all things. His creation included the stars and the humblest domestic utensils. I belong to the second category." Of his charismata he said, I realize to the full greatness of the gifts that God has bestowed on me. But that terrifies me because I know only too well what miserable use I have made of them. If He had only given them to the lowest scoundrel in the world, he would have employed them better. I dread the thought of death and having to answer for it."

  
  To his nephew Ettoruccio Masone he said, " I am fearful because all that the Lord has given me, since the more we are given, the more we are responsible before Him. I am fearful because of all the goodness and mercy He has shown me." Thus far we have not touched upon the two charismata that most people found most extraordinary, namely, the gifts of bi location and healing. These will be the subject of separate chapters.

 Remember the Cuban Communist Castro. During the missile crisis, Castro encouraged for the sake of communism, an atomic war with the U.S.A. and wiping out Cuba as a nation. [ I am half-way through a book by Almando Valladares "Against All Hope" - the 23 years of Cuban Communist Prison Memoir.]

    By the way, this Terrorist Castro is the hero of Nikole Hannah Jones who created the 1619 Project. Also one Marxist cult way to destroy our America.

3. I remember living in and born in Canada, listening to Bishop Fulton Sheen's, "Life is Worth Living."

He gave us a good education on Communism. We as Catholic and Americans citizens do not accept the Marxist/Communist/Socialist reinterpretation of American history. That's a lot of Marxist  hogwash not only for Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, but also for St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Dominic.

4. The American people are being seriously hurt for lack of information. Prevention is worth a pound of cure. The head of the FBI has failed to inform us about extremist organizations in America! Why? Few people know that the Communist Party is outlawed in the U.S.A. They believe in the violent overthrow of the United States. There are dozens of extremists besides the Communist Party and Antifa.  The Barbarians that are on our streets belong to various extreme Marxist organizations.    As his Party tweeted that Trump's trip to Mount Rushmore was aimed at "glorifying white supremacy, "Biden was wailing about the need to "rip the roots of systematic racism" out of America. Does that sound like Harry Truman or JFK? So the lines are drawn for 2020.

    On one side are those who believe America is a good country, the greatest the world has ever seen, and that the men who created this miracle should be respected, revered and remembered. That is not the view of the left wing of the Democratic Party. For even as the fireworks were exploding on the Mall, a Baltimore mob was tearing down, smashing up and dumping into the Inner Harbor a landmark statue of Christopher Columbus. 

   
 That statue stood next to the Baltimore neighborhood of Little Italy and had been dedicated in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan. Do the haters of Columbus think that destroying Columbus' statues across America will not anger and alienate Americans of Italian descent who revere the explorer? Does Biden thin Italian-Americans will reward a candidate and party that will not renounce the mob that did this?

    As the left-wing of the Democratic Party embraces the "defund the police" movement, how long will it hold onto voters who are today watching murder rates climb to new records? During Independence Day weekend in Chicago, 80 people were shot, and 17 of them killed. In New York City, the number of shooting victims has risen this year by 50%. In June, there were 350 shootings, and increase of 150 over June 2019. Mayor Bill d Blassio's response cutting $ 1 billion from the NHYPD budget...

    
Trump is charged with "dividing the nation." But it is not Trump trashing cops or providing cover for "protests" marked by looting and arson. Nor is it Trump tearing down memorials and monuments to the great Americans of the past. Where the Democratic Party has been a portrait in indecisiveness, Trump has been clear. He stands with the cops who have gone through a hellish six weeks. He stands against defacing statues and destroying monuments. He has denounced the rioting, looting and arson that have accompanied protest the media never cease to describe as "peaceful."

    It is not Trump who is dividing America... Do we want to continue an era of protests that revert to rioting, looting and arson? Do we want to see police departments further constricted and trashed as neo-fascist. 2. It is well to remember that Alexander Hamilton was an immigrant himself. He was born on the island of Nevis in the British West Indies in 1753 or 1757. He never owned slaves. He was the genius creator of our economic system, "Free Enterprise." He is disliked by liberal historians because he is a conservative and recognized by all Founding Fathers, as leader of the Federalist, one of the most intelligent.                                          

3. When someone accuses you of racism, Say, "stop parroting the communist party line." Only a communist would think that way and spout it off. The saddest of all is many of our young have been programmed and brainwashed by subversives in our universities. It's an insult to the teaching profession of which I am one, to call them teachers or professors. We are dealing with Communists who are masters of deceit and deception. 4. To be charged with racism by a any duped American Marxist is a badge of honor. I believe that most legal immigrants who are now citizens of America believe that way. We are part of the "Silent Majority." We elected Richard Nixon in 1968 and in 1972 Nixon over McGovern in a landslide. Nixon was hated as much and even more over Trump by the mainstream media. By the way, now that we have a Democratic Socialist Party have they come out with one word condemning the deliberate looting and burning of local businesses. 5.  When it comes to voting four months away there are at least two things that will come to your mind. There is the mob Chop sanctuary in Seattle and the guy with his wife armed trying to defend their property from a mob of anarchists in Missouri. Is this the kind of America we want to live in? CHAPTER 26 - A DAY WITH PADRE PIO  P. 293 - 306

 

    "Pio's reactions were sometimes so extreme to provoke a reprimand from his superior. Yet he justified his outbursts, insisting, "If we do not behave so, the people will eat us .... They squeeze my hand in a vise, they pull my arms, they press me on every side. I feel lost, I am forced to be rude. I'm sorry, but if I do not act that way, they'll kill me." Many times he remarked, "There should be a big fence around the area with the sign, 'Lunatic Asylum." ...

 

    From 1918 until about 1923, Padre Pio heard confessions fifteen to nineteen hours a day. After that his superiors limited his hours in this activity. During the 1940s and 1950s he generally heard five to eight hours a day. He heard women's confessions in the morning in the traditional booth. Men heard face to face in the afternoon in the sacristy, often with his hands on their shoulders....

 

    Only those fluent in Italian were allowed to approach Padre Pio. It was widely believed that Padre had the "gift of languages... It is estimated that Padre Pio heard two million confessions over a fifty-one-year period... 'Father' she said, "I never knew abortion was a sin." ... Padre Pio responded y saying, "But it's a sin, a great sin."...

 

    Sometimes, Padre Pio could be disturbingly harsh, as when he told a penitent, "Wretched man, you've sold your soul to the devil!" or "You wretch, you're going to hell!" When questioned about his apparent rudeness and ill humor, Pio insisted, "I don't give sweets to someone who needs a purge." T one of his superiors, he confided, "I treat souls as they deserve before God." ..."He made me aware of the importance of going to confession and receiving the graces of confession and of going to Communion. He made me aware that when you commit a mortal sin, that's a grievous offense against God... "Remember that it is better to be reprimanded by a man in this world than by God in the next!"...

 

    Padre Pio also infuriated many "progressive-minded" folk by his habit of refusing to hear confessions of any whom he considered inappropriately attired. Shorts, even on children, were anathema. Any whom whose skirt failed to reach to mid calf or whose sleeves did not cover three-quarters length of her arm or who had the temerity to enter the church bareheaded, was liable to be ordered out of the confessional... To a women, he snapped, "Women who smoke are disgusting."...

 

    Despite the occasional rebukes in which Padre Pio allegedly told penitents that they were going to hell, unless they mended their ways. "I believe that not a great number of souls go to hell," he told a friend."God loves us so much, He formed us in His image. God the Son died to redeem us. He loves us beyond understanding. And it is my belief that even when we passed from the consciousness of the world , when we appear to be dead, God, before He judges us a chance to see and understand what sin really is. And if we understand it properly, how could we fail to repent....

 

    It will be recalled that Padre Pio lived in a time and place in which there was little understanding and less sympathy for Christians outside the fold of Rome, who, in the days before Vatican II, were common regarded as "heretics."... The afternoon recreation at an end, the friars retired to their rooms for an hour for their siesta. Sometimes Padre Pio took a nap, but usually he spent most of his time in a wicker chair in the veranda, adjacent to his room, praying the rosary... For Padre Pio, the Rosary was his "weapon" against the powers of hell...

 

    Although he disapproved of the use of cigarettes and cigars, like many men of his generation, he used snuff... Padre Pio said snuff was good for clearing the sinuses... Late in the evening, Pio joined the community for Compline, the night Divine Office. After the friars retired to bed. Before going to his room, Padre Pio went to his superior  joined his hands , bowed, and asked for a blessing...."
