Chapter 28 - Extraordinary Traveler p. 324 - 329

    We are already acquainted with the incident in 1905, when the 17 year old Fra Pio found himself, through bi-location, at the birth of Giovanna Rizzani.  We have seen that Padre Pio also bi-located, in some fashion, to the Cerase sisters, and we have a testimony that he likewise appeared to a friend of Nina Companile in 1918... Throughout the years there were sightings of Padre Pio from Hawaii to California to South Africa... Many, no doubt, resulted from people seeing what they wanted to see...                       

    Padre Alessio entered Padre Pio's room one night and found him shivering -- even though it was a warm evening and generally sensitive to the heat rather than the cold. Pio also seemed to be in a trance. Alessio piled blanket after blanket upon the shivering priest without any change in his condition. Later he learned that at that very hour, a man dying high in the Alps insisted that Padre Pio was present with him...

    We will recall how Padre Pio was forced to cancel his plans to attend the consecration of the friary at Pietrelcina in 1951. Yet he told Padre Agostino, "I will be present in Pietrelcina and at the same time I will be in the confessional at Giovanni Rotondo. After the ceremony, Padre Alberto D'Apolito attempted to describe the Church. "I know it better than you do," insisted Pio. When Alberto asked if he had seen a photograph of the edifice. Pio said, "I was there. I can describe to you the most minute details and even the number of steps on the stairway in the entrance, which you don't know." This is one of the few accounts in which Padre Pio seemingly raised the subject of bi-location, even boasting of it. Or was he joking?...

     Immediately it occurred to the son-in-law that Padre Pio had been there. Dominic asked Pio, "Did you assist my Dad in his final moments?" Pio smiled and answered, "Si." "Is he in heaven?" Pio replied, "If he is not in heaven he is at the gate, ready to enter." A year later, when Dominic asked again, he received the reply, "He's in heaven long already."...

    There is no question that Padre Pio believed that he visited his spiritual children through bi-location (or " astral-projection," as the phenomena is sometimes called)... Another time he said that bi-location wan an "extension of body and soul" and he sometimes went with "with body and soul," but on other occasions, his angel assumed his bodily form and voice. He told Padre Alessio, "I know only that it is God who sends me. I do no know whether I am there with my soul or body, or both of them.

    Padre Pio, evidently, was never interested in analyzing the phenomenon. He was interested only in doing God's will. "Whether it is true or not that I am found in various places by bi-location, tri-location, or whatever," he told a confrere, "you must ask God and not me. All I can tell you that I always try to remain attacked to the thread of His will. For this reason, I am always where I am." 

    There was one question about bi-location that Padre Pio could and would answer clearly. Asked what language he employed in his travels," He replied, "Italian. And how many miracles would you want the Lord to perform."
