REF. MANHATTANDECLARATION.ORG

Preface: This is a major document which one can us to persuade Catholic writers that the Catholic-in-name-only politician is a most serious threat to Church and country. He must not be cuddled; treated as a Sacred Cow or be an Untouchable. Each CINOP is destructive, an abomination. This is a powerful weapon to educate, persuade and remove the CINOP from public office. “It is exhilarating news.” ghk

NATIONAL RELIGIOUS LEADERS RELEASED AT NOON, FRIDAY, NOV. 20TH, 2009 AT A PRESS CONFERENCE IN WAHINGTON, D.C.:
THE HISTORIC DECLARATION ON CHRISTIAN CONSCIENCE

It is a 4,732-word statement signed by some 125+ Orthodox, Catholic and Evangelical leaders. The Manhattan Declaration is a 4,732-word statement signed by a movement of Orthodox, Catholic and evangelical Christian leaders who are collaborating around moral issues of great concern.

Its 125+ signers affirm the sanctity of human life, marriage as defined by one man and one woman, and religious liberty and freedom of conscience. THE MANHATTAN DECLARATION ENDORSES CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. IT READS AS FOLLOWS:

Christians, when they have lived up to the highest ideals of their faith, have defended the weak and vulnerable and worked tirelessly to protect and strengthen vital institutions of civil society, beginning with the family.

We are Orthodox, Catholic, and evangelical Christians who have united at this hour to reaffirm fundamental truths about justice and the common good, and to call upon our fellow citizens, believers and non-believers alike, to join us in defending them. These truths are:

1.)THE SANCTITY OF LIFE
2.)THE DIGNITY OF MARRIAGE AS THE CONJUGAL UNION OF HUSBAND AND WIFE
3.)THE RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE AND RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Inasmuch as these truths are foundational to human dignity and the well-being
of society, they are inviolable and non-negotiable. Because they are increasingly
under assault from powerful forces in our culture, we are compelled today to speak out forcefully in their defense, and to commit ourselves to honoring them fully no matter what pressures are brought upon us and our institutions to abandon or comprise them. We make this commitment not as partisans of any political group but as followers of Jesus Christ, the crucified and risen Lord, who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

George H. Kubeck (I counted at least 20 bishops and Catholic writer signatures. You can also sign.)
