S.B. 48 = Sick Educational Reform

This is an urgent e-mail alert. It is for the sake of our school children and the thousands of California’s independent-minded school teachers who will be forced to teach this oddity on sexuality which has no place in public education. [Ref. Coalition Traditional Values TVC California Newsletter]

The Senate Education Committee will meet and have hearings on this S.B. 48 – by Mark Leno (D) Homosexual Textbooks, Teaching and Instructional Material. SB 48 is being called the “Fair, Accountable, Inclusive, and Respectful Education Act” or Fair Act.

The bill is being authored by self-admitted homosexual State Senator Mark Leno of San Francisco. But there is nothing fair, accountable, or respectful about it. It is false education, unscientific, and contrary to human nature.

• SB 48 would amend current Education Code sections to include lesbian, bisexual and transgender to the list of categories to be covered in all textbooks and instructional matters.

• SB 48 would radically change the nature of our California education. Some of the dangerous and offensive provisions of the bill include:

• Adds the pro-homosexual term “reflects adversely” to the requirements on how all textbooks and instructional materials are to present the homosexual, bisexual and transgender lifestyles. What does “reflex adversely” mean? This means that textbooks and materials must present lesbians, gay, bisexual and transgender people, groups and lifestyles in a positive way.

• Controls what teachers say in the classrooms. Forces teachers and educators to give classroom instruction that does not “reflect adversely” on homosexual, bisexuality or transgender. This means teachers will be forced to positively promote the homosexual lifestyle!

• The State Board of Education or any local school board would be prohibited from adopting textbooks that “reflect adversely” on homosexuality, bisexuality and transgender… must portray these sexual lifestyles in a positive manner.

• Applies to ALL textbooks and in ALL subjects. One Example: Math problems where a child shops with his Mom and Dad must also show a similar story with homosexual parents.

• Forces ALL school boards to use only instructional materials that include homosexuality, bisexuality and transgender.

• Dangerously changes the Social Content Standards!

• Eliminates the definition of sex and replaces it with “gender “! SB 48 is
removing the term ‘sex’ and replacing it with the very broad, unclear and anything-goes term “gender”! SEX WILL NO LONGER BE DEFINED AS MALE AND FEMALE. Gender will mean how one looks and dresses! Gender will mean how one acts! Gender will mean something different than the sex a person was born!
