Dominican Laity in Orange County

For Your Information

Preface:
Pope Benedict XVI has declared St. John Vianney as patron of all priests during the jubilee year for priest, which began June 19th, 2009 to June 19th, 2010. The pope urges priest to strive for holiness. All of us are called to a deeper conversion. ARE YOU SEARCHING FOR A WAY TO INCREASE YOUR PRAYER LIFE?

History:

The Dominican Order has a long history of service to the Church, and living in its spirit has produced hundreds of saints including the well known saints Catherine of Siena, Thomas Aquinas, Rose of Avila, Martin de Porres, Albert the Great, and Pope Pius V.

The order is rich in custom and tradition while, at the same time, in tune with the needs of our day, as St. Dominic himself was in his day.

We Lay Dominicans enjoy the privileges of belonging to the Order and extend its effectiveness into the world in which we live and work.

Dominicans are called to follow Christ, to witness to redemption in the world, and to live in charity with one another.

Our Orange County Chapter-in-Formation has assembled once a month in a Chapter meeting.

The monthly meetings are usually held on the last Tuesday of each month from 7-9 P.M. at St. Joachim Parish, Costa Mesa.

Dominican Laity consists of married and single men and women who wish to share in the prayer, study, community and ministry of this religious order. Lay Dominicans take no vows and they do not wear the habit.
