Voices from Our Founding Fathers
In pursuit of the truth – www.cinopsbegone.com – Friday, August 21, 2009
We must not overlook the intense struggle our Founding Fathers
faced. Their Christian faith played a critical role in making us into the land of the free.
Recall Samuel Adams who was known as the Father of the Revolution. It was Samuel Adams who organized the “Sons of Liberty” and the “Committee of Correspondence.” Historians believe that the first tea party, the one in Boston was organized by Samuel Adams. It was the Boston Tea Party that lit the fuse of the American Revolution.
Concerned citizens asking questions at the Town Hall Meetings and the participants at Tea Parties throughout the country are in the footsteps of our Founding Fathers. Sadly, today’s politicians in Washington are not.
1.)Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) unglued over the opposition to their plan on Obama Health Care published an op-ed in USA Today that called anyone who disagreed with them “un-American.”
2.) Rep. John Dingell (D-Mich.) the longest member of the House, compared
townhall critics to the Klu Klux Klan. Apparently voters who want to keep
costs down and retain their current plans are somehow racists.
3.) A White House blog asked people to tattle on neighbors who oppose
Obama’s plans. “Scary chain emails and videos are starting to percolate on the internet… Since we can’t keep track of all of it here at the White House, we’re asking for your help … {in reporting anything} fishy.” If there is anything “fishy,” it’s the White House asking people to police their neighbors’ political views.
4.)“If you get hit, we will punch back twice as hard!” Jim Messina, The White
House Deputy Chief of staff, to Senate Democrats in a meeting to prepare them to respond to constituent protest according to staffers. In a similar vein, labor union bosses, such as the AFL-CIO and Service Employees International Union (SEIU), sent out memos urging their members to turn out in force and “drown out” opponents voices.
5.)Violence erupted at one Missouri town-hall meeting when several thugs
from the (SEIU) attacked a conservative African-American man passing out yellow “Don’t Tread on Me” flags outside the event. Three men wearing SEIU shirts and another unidentified woman assaulted Kenneth Gladney, 38, punching him in the face, and then kicking him in the head and back as they swore racially-charged epithets at him outside of Rep. Russ Carnahan’s (D-MO) town hall meeting in Melville, Missouri. Police made six arrests.
