The Marriage Protection Amendment of 2006

The Marriage Protection Amendment

Some General information from the past and V.I. for the future: - March 3, 2006
Let us take a look at the big picture. As a Catholic, I am not living in Canada or Spain. It is there that the same-sex marriage laws were passed with the help of the CINOP (Catholic in Name only Politician.) I don’t want that catastrophe to happen in America.

The Staff at the California Catholic Bishop Conference is aware of the above. I believe the passage of the Marriage Protection Amendment is a number one goal. Number two and three would be the gathering of enough signatures to keep the Cross in the L.A. County Seal, and put another proposition 73- Parental Notification on the ballot. This is a religious matter. Hopefully, the cuddling and cover-up of the Calif. CINOP is over.

I have read that according to Catholic theology, heresy is the greatest of all sins: The sin of unbelief {heresy} is greater than any sin which occurs in the perversion of morals (St. Thomas Aquinas) This is because murder (abortion being one of the worst forms) is an attack on a creature, while heresy is a direct attack on God Himself.

A few days ago, I received a question and answer sheet on How to Preserve Traditional Marriage by Dr. James Kennedy of the Coral Ridge Ministries.
What can Congress do to protect marriage as the union of one man and one woman?
It can pass the Marriage Protection Amendment in mid-March, 2006.
What is the Marriage Protection Amendment?
It consists of a couple of very simple statements. SECTION 1.This article may be cited as The Marriage Protection Amendment. SECTION 2. “Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the Constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of man & a woman.”
What is the cost to society when it drifts away from traditional marriage?
According to The Weekly Standard, marriage in Scandinavia is in deep decline and children are shouldering the burden of rising rates of family dissolution. The ‘mainspring of the decline’ is an increasing sharp separation between marriage and parenthood. This can be linked to homosexual marriage. This can happen in America.
Is there any scientific evidence in support of traditional marriage?
Science now confirms the many social, physical, and emotional advantages to adults and children alike in traditional families and also confirms the corresponding dangers of homosexual behavior. Same-sex marriage is the intersection of two counter-productive ideas: undermining the traditional model of marriage and family, and the acceptance and elevation of destructive sexual behavior. It is most certainly “in the interest of the state,” then, to preserve the traditional definition & institution of marriage.
Why shouldn’t we be tolerant of homosexual marriage?
First of all, without question, God says homosexuality is a sin. God’s word is clear on the priority of marriage and the sin of homosexuality – even in the New Testament (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) While we are called to love the sinner, we must hate the sin – not to give free reign over our most enduring and sacred institutions. Furthermore, without a constitutional amendment preserving the biblical definition of marriage, America also faces the prospect of … even more shocking perversity: - marriage to children, multiple spouse marriage, and so forth.
