Same-Sex Absurdity

Same-Sex Absurdity
Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2007
Below is the article by D.Q. McInerny, Ph.D., Professor of Philosophy in the Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary. It’s about common sense and natural law.

The author quotes the legal code of ancient Rome established long before the Christian era. “Marriages are the union of male and female, a sharing of life and the communication of divine and human rights.”

Some say we are reverting to paganism, but many ancient pagans had it all over us as far as moral integrity is concerned. There is evidence that republican Rome was morally superior in some ways to contemporary Western society. They were clearly conscious of the reality of natural law and the direct practical bearing it has on our lives

“Man-made law can only be regarded as law to the extent that it mirrors the natural law, which is nothing else but the eternal of God as known by the human intellect.
“In contrast to the pagan Romans, we are in a state of denial as to the very existence of the natural law. What the denial of the natural law comes down to, in practical terms, is the rejection of the notion that there is an objective moral order which relates to all human beings and to which all of us are solemnly bound. The natural law is the universal moral law…. When men turn their backs on the natural law they go morally crazy and they begin to behave like beasts. Nonsense begins to make sense, and the absurd becomes positively appealing.”

Same-sex marriage is an oxymoron which is a figure of speech and joins together two mutually contradictory terms. It attempts to link together two concepts, identity of sex and marital union, that are completely incompatible, and therefore the phrase is meaningless. Our media refer to same-sex marriage as something as normal as mom, baseball, and apple pie. It is something like mass hypnosis. We grow accustomed that nonsense that it no longer sounds like nonsense.

“Marriage, we know, was instituted by God Himself, and is an integral, and immensely important, part of the natural order of things. If that were not enough to give to marriage a surpassing dignity, Christ added immeasurably to that dignity by raising it to the level of a sacrament…. (Same-sex marriage) is a direct and most serious affront to the natural law, that is to the objective moral order. Yet more seriously, however, it is a sacrilegious insult to the holy sacrament of marriage. … They are justifiably alarmed by the pushy propagandizing for so-called same-sex marriage see in this as open assault on the family. And they know that any society that bends its energies toward the destruction of the family is a society that has put itself on the path to suicide. The family – father, mother, and children – is the foundation upon which every society rests. Destroy that foundation, and the society fails.”

In closing, we have 2 to 3 % of Americans who have homosexual tendencies. Why did God create them? Many can change or be saints. However, the culture of death advocates want to expand this to 10% of the population and promote all of this as normal. First of all, there is a difference between the culture of death advocates and the homosexual person. The death advocates with the CINOPS deliberately seek to change our American culture for various reasons.
