What has happened to Father Weslin? Cont’d

Press Release – May 20th, 2009, New York Lambs of Christ
Dear Friends, I want to remind you of what John Paul II warned us about when he came to Denver in 1993:
“America DEFEND LIFE!!
“America, woe to you if you do not succeed in DEFENDING LIFE!! he said
“THE DARK HORSE is on the horizon.”
“Whenever human life is threatened – WE WILL STAND UP!!”

We 65.1 million Catholics in the United States are obliged to do just that. We must exhaust every effort to stop the killing or our children.

Our Beloved Holy Fathers also said to us, “America, you must come out of your comfortable lifestyles now and you must come out in the streets and into the public places and you must shout the GOSPEL OF LIFE from the rooftops, he said.

“DO NOT BE AFRAID,” he said. JESUS CHRIST IS WITH YOU!” to be cont’d

{On behalf of one pro-life activist, it would be wise for bishops who did not speak out on the Notre Dame Scandal to take the above remarks literally.}

R.I.P.: The bishops’ “Task Force” on Catholic politicians by Kenneth D. Whitehead, excerpts from “Homiletic & Pastoral Review” Aug. – Sept 2007 cont’d

“But Cardinal McCarrick, as Task Force chairman, had all along belonged to the school of thought that evidently considered publicly denying sacraments to people to be neither wise nor prudent.

He was quoted early in the game as saying that he would be “very uncomfortable to have a confrontation at the altar.” “I am not going to have a fight with someone,” he was quoted further, “holding the sacred Body and Blood in my hand.”

THIS WAS NOT EXACTLY WHAT THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED BY CARDINAL RATZINGER CALLED FOR, OF COURSE, RATHER, IT CALLED FOR A PRIVATE CONFRONTATION BY A BISHOP WITH WHAT WOULD NECESSARILY ONLY HAVE BEEN A VERY SMALL NUMBER OF PROMINENT “PRO-CHOICE” CATHOLIC PUBLIC FIGURES IN HIS PARTICULAR DIOCESE ENGAGED IN SCANDALIZING THE FAITHFUL BY PRETENDING BEFORE THE WHOLE WORLD, IN EFFECT, THAT THE MORAL TEACHINGS OF THE CHURCH DID NOT REALLY MATTER.
BY CHARACTERIZING THE WHOLE ISSUE AS “A CONFRONTATION AT THE ALTAR” THE WASHINGTON PRELATE WAS DISTORTING IT IN A WAY CERTAINLY INFLUENCED THE JUDGMENT OF NOT A FEW OF HIS FELLOW BISHOPS THAT THERE INDEED SHOULD NOT EVER BE SUCH CONFRONTATION OF THAT KIND AT THE ALTAR ITSELF.

YET THERE IS LITTLE DOUBT THAT CARDINAL McCARRICK’S MISCHARACTERIZATION (AND, IN FACT. WATERING DOWN) OF THE GUIDANCE HE HAD RECEIVED FROM CARDINAL RATZINGER ACCORDED MORE WITH WISHES AND PRACTICES OF MOST OF THE AMERICAN BISHOPS THAN IT DID WITH THAT OF THE TWO DOZEN OR SO BISHOPS CALLING FOR A HARDER (AND MORE CONSISTENT) LINE.
George H. Kubeck, P.O. Box 865, Stanton, Ca. 90680
P.S. Within 5 years many bishops will resign and be replaced.
