Please send signed Petitions to Los Angeles Una Voce

Dear Friends in Christ,

Una Voce Los Angeles recently petitioned our new Archbishop for a personal parish to be staffed by the FSSP (Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter). Two FSSP priests have also met with the Archbishop. The Archbishop himself has asked that UVLA circulate a petition to see if there is an interest in having a personal parish (dedicated solely to the Traditional Mass, Traditional rites of the Sacraments, daily Mass, etc.) in our Archdiocese. So, there is a good chance for success in getting a personal parish established, we just need a lot of prayer and help in getting the attached petition circulated and signed by many, many Catholics.

Signers must reside in the Los Angeles Archdiocese. The petitions need to be mailed to Una Voce Los Angeles, P.O. Box 3251, Culver City, CA 90231-3251

We would like to have your help, and the help of others you know, in distributing and collecting signatures on the petition. We would really appreciate you and others passing the petition around to anyone in your parish or that you know, who is willing to show their support for an FSSP personal parish to be established in Los Angeles Archdiocese and for the promotion of the Traditional Mass. Children are allowed to sign as long as they can handwrite their signature, no age limits. Please circulate the petition quietly and privately, among yourselves. You do not need a pastor's permission to do this. However, we ask that you do not stand outside your parish church and hand out petitions after Mass to everyone, unless you personally have received permission from your pastor. We prefer that you circulate the petition privately to others, and by email or mail. Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Attached is a copy of the petition. You may print it out and make copies to distribute to those who may be supportive of the Traditional Mass of the Roman Rite (which our Holy Father now calls the Extra-Ordinary Form). Petition signers do not have to be attending the Traditional Mass, they may sign if they support the Pope in promoting the Mass of the Ages which was never abrogated. Our Holy Father recently told the world about the traditional Mass - what was once sacred, remains sacred - he asks for it to be made available to all Catholics world-wide.

Again, we have only until Jan. 12 to mail in petitions to Una Voce Los Angeles (address at bottom of petition). We are hoping for at least 1,000 or many, many more signed petitions. Thank you for anything you are able to do to help with this most important cause for the future of our Archdiocese and the Catholic families that desire an FSSP personal parish be established in the Los Angeles Archdiocese.

Praying all is well with you and your family.
God bless you,
Vicki Peters

Vice President, Una Voce Los Angeles

Petition for a Personal Parish in the Los Angeles Archdiocese Dedicated Solely to the

Extra-Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite

Your Excellency Archbishop Gomez,

We, the undersigned faithful of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, support the desire of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI,

to promote the Extra-Ordinary Form of the Mass of the Roman Rite.

In accordance with His Holiness, we respectfully request that you invite the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter to assist you

in establishing and staffing a personal parish centrally located in the greater Los Angeles Archdiocese to be dedicated

solely to the Traditional Mass of the Roman Rite, now known as the Extra-Ordinary Form of the Roman Rite, as stated in the

provisions of Article 10 of his motu proprio Summorum Pontificum:

Art. 10. The ordinary of a particular place, if he feels it appropriate, may erect a personal parish in accordance with can. 518

for celebrations following the ancient form of the Roman rite, or appoint a chaplain, while observing all the norms of law.

We make this appeal to you in order to most effectively satisfy the legitimate needs and desires of the faithful who wish to live a locally-accessible, constant, full and integrated parish life according to the traditional Roman rites of our One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church and the spirituality of the Roman Missal published by Blessed John XXIII in 1962. We thank Your Excellency for your consideration of our request.
