EWTN Television: Today - 11:30 A.M. – We view the host Doug Heck and Fr. Joseph Maria FMVA – the EWTN Chaplain from Birmingham, Alabama. Note the U.S. bishops’ visits with the Pope every 5 years.

“Every culture is based on ethical principles. In the U.S. we are experiencing outright hostility to Judeo-Christian principles. Pope Benedict, “Proceed with rational arguments in the public square. We must not be silent on certain issues. [Like life or marriage] Catholics be a leaven in society.”

Directly to San Francisco: Host Dolores Meehan – Co-Founder of Walk for Life: This is our 8th year in a row. We had 3,000 participants in 2005. We have more than the 50,000 last year. We have a new venue: Pacific Center Plaza: We are right in front of City Hall. We walk down Market Street.

Father Mark and Doug Perry: “The media dominates our lives. We have to that presence. People want to witness to the truth that there is dignity to human life. This weekend hundreds of diocese have their own marches in their own state. There are marches even in Europe.”

Father Fessio: “The church at Mass was crowded this morning. 1) Pro-life is here for all to see 2) The importance of natural marriage: vote for pro-life and family. The tide is turning. Abortion laws are not reasonable. Others, like Archbishop Gomez has big events this weekend in L.A.

Doug’s interview with young participants at the Walk for Life: Roger: “I’m against abortion. Wrong that it is even legalized. It takes someone’s life. Be a man let the baby live. Don’t press the girl to have an abortion.” A girl 14: She is a pro-life activist. She came with 3 bus loads. “There are other alternatives to abortion. Don’t force your child to have an abortion.”

Lori: She is a black American. African community is being targeted by abortion. It is a civil right issue. In our community 1 out of 2 are aborted. In 40 years abortion has cut our population in one-half. Go to the websites: http://blackgenocide.com or http://issueforlife.org

Jackie Stalnecker: She is with The Silent No More Awareness Campaign in Birmingham, Alabama. She shared her poignant experiences later on. She is going to Belgium. In Hungary life is protected in their Constitution. FROM HER A BIG HELLO FOR EVERYBODY FROM FATHER FRANK PAVONE.

Shawn Carney: Campaign Director of “40 Days for Life.” In L.A. County, the abortion mill in La Puente closed. Doug: the host for “Life on the Rock” interviewed a group of 17 who came from Arizona. It has become a yearly event for them. Last year with 50,000 we had only about 80 protesters.

Bishop Vasa: “A word of encouragement and gratitude for those who have worked so hard. Discouragement is the work of the devil. Trust we work for Jesus. No possibility of defeat: We will succeed. As a Christian we can’t stand idly by. All America is complicit in this abortion…”

Bishop Cordioleone: “We see young people here. We have an initiative called Parental Notification. The truth cannot be suppressed indefinitely. God’s mysterious way to bring people to people together, Catholics and other Christians… It gives me a lot of energy to see people here.” [Part 2 posted on the blog only, not e-mailed to you]
