The Honorable Senator Joe Lieberman 2 of 2
Dear Senator, Friday, April 27, 2007
“Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek my soul: Let them be turned backward, and blush for shame that desire evils to me: Psalm 69 3-4
“We think we can find safety and stability by pulling back, by talking to and accommodating our enemies and abandoning our friends and allies…” Yesterday, the Democratic Party did exactly that as the Senate approved the War Spending Bill requiring troop withdrawal from Iraq to begin by Oct. 1st. 70% of the audience that you addressed at the Jewish AIPAC National Policy Conference March 12, 2007 agrees with the above. It is this that drives you up the wall. Why are they blind to the truth? You have a duty to speak out, inform and persuade that this course is a disaster not only for the Democratic Party but for the country. It will be used as a wedge issue to defeat the Democrats in 2008.
“… this wrong-headed thinking about the world is happening because we are in a political climate where, for many people, when George Bush says ‘Yes’ their reflex is to say ‘No.’ That is unacceptable.” Today, the most falsely hated person in America is President Bush. If you were to speak out and explain why we just can’t leave Iraq, you would become the most hated person in America. It would not matter to you. It would be a badge of honor to speak the truth. But you are deathly afraid that this hatred would be also against your family and all of your friends and associates. This hate business is a very serious democratic sickness to keep politicians in line. As an independent Senator, please consider which party should control the Senate?
1. There was a time when we had a bi-partisan foreign policy where in time of war, one political party would not take advantage of the other for political gain. Today, the mindset of the Democratic Party is troubling and heart breaking. Having lost the presidency twice, the Democratic Party wants to win this way. “This war is lost and the surge is in not accomplishing anything.” Senator Harry Reid. The terrorists just love this talk.
2. When it comes to reporting the Iraq War in a patriotic manner, we have the most stupid two-faced media in U.S. history. With this kind of reporting, Hitler would have won WW. II
3. This week on local talk radio KLAC 870, 3-6 P.M. with Hugh Hewitt, I listened to parts of a three hour classic interview of Lawrence Wright who wrote the book Looming Tower. This was about the Al Qaeda International Suicide Terrorist Criminals and their Mein Kamph message. This interview ought to be available in every public library.
4. A coalition of liberal organizations is working in concert with Democratic leaders in Congress in planning hundreds of rallies and dozens of news conferences to protest any Bush veto. I wonder if the regular historic anti-war protesters and the hate America crowd will be their leaders. It is a kind of religion with these masters of deceit and deception.
5. Talk about being blind to the truth. It is noteworthy that the largest voting bloc that voted for withdrawal was the Catholic-in-name-only-Politicians, the (CINOP). They are blind politically as well as religiously. This will be another wedge issue in 2008. These politicians falsely use the Catholic label to win elections. In Canada, they passed the federally same-sex marriage laws in 2005. If the CINOP are reelected they will do the same in the U.S.A. Finally, we pray for conversions in your area and in mine.
Respectfully yours,
George H. Kubeck, gmkubeck@aol.com, please duplicate, and or translate into Spanish. Communicate with Senator Joe Lieberman - email@lieberman.senate.gov.

The Honorable Senator Joe Liebermann 1 # 2
Dear Senator, Sunday, April 22, 2007
I am looking through the 110th Anniversary Issue, April 6, 2007 of FORWARD. On page 7, I see a whole page picture of you Senator, and the following plea given at AIPAC National Policy Conference March 12, 2007.
“There is something profoundly wrong when opposition to the WAR IN IRAQ seems to inspire greater passion than opposition to ISLAMIST EXTREMISM.
“There is something profoundly wrong when there is so much distrust of our intelligence community that SOME AMERICANS DOUBT THE PLAIN AND OMINOUS FACTS about the threat to us posed by Iran.
“And there is something profoundly wrong when, in the face of attacks by radical Islam, WE THINK WE CAN FIND SAFETY AND STABILITY BY PULLING BACK, by talking to and accommodating our enemies and abandoning our friends and allies.
“… this wrong-headed thinking about the world is happening because we are in a political climate where, for many people, WHEN GEORGE BUSH SAYS ‘YES’ THEIR REFLEX IS TO SAY ‘NO.’
“THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE.”
In the above quotes, Senator, are you not trying to explain something very important to the American people? Do you not have a responsibility to tell them? Recall the biblical verse: “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
This past week has been a horrendous week for America and the world. There were at least four shock events. 1) Mass murder and suicide at Virginia Tech. 2) 5 human dog with rabies suicide bombers in Baghdad. 3) The bright light of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. 4) Your Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid saying at a news conference that the war in Iraq is lost.
The remark by the Senator Reid puts our country in a kind of twilight zone. That is a very dangerous and suicidal zone for America to be in. The Democratic Party is out of control. After all, we have our volunteer soldiers fighting and dying for us on the ground in Iraq today. And their mission is a just one. I personally recall anti-war protesters every decade since 1940. Remember when they strove for U.S. unilateral disarmament against Communist Russia. They are the same hate America crowd that has now infected the Democratic Party. You Senator Lieberman have the responsibility and duty to take a stand for America.
You were elected as an Independent Senator by Independent and Republican voters in the State of Connecticut. You were not elected by a majority of Democratic voters. We have a Socialist Senator from Vermont voting with the Democrats for control of the Senate. I urge you to vote with the Republicans for control of the Senate.
Respectfully yours,
George H. Kubeck, gmkubeck@aol.com (Please forward. send or E-mail to the Senator)
P.S. As a practicing Catholic, I subscribe to Forward for national news, and local wisdom from talk show hosts Michael Medved & Dennis Praeger, KLAC 1070 Radio, 9 AM-3 PM.

The Wisdom of Bishop Fulton Sheen
Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007
“If we do not accept the authority of the Church, we must accept the authority of public opinion, and that is what most of those outside the Church accept – the dictates of the day. For the life of me I cannot understand how a man accepts the authority of George Bernard Shaw and refuse to accept the authority of the Son of God.”
Sheen defined Catholic dogma as “the result of the Church’s clear, consistent thinking for over 2000 years.”…
“… In another Lenten sermon that Reformation was needed but it should have been a “reformation of discipline and not of faith.” “We must remember that those who are outside the Church are not there through any fault of their own. They were brought up in prejudice and have accumulated a mass of ignorance. If we believed what they believe about the Catholic Church we would hate it ten times more than they do.” Only the Catholic Church, he concluded, can save a pagan society that “knows no more about Christianity than the man in the moon.” p. 84 (1934)
“From the same pulpit the following year, Sheen defined communism as “capitalism gone mad” and declared that the atheistic state is “always a slave state” because it deprives people of their souls as well as their economic freedom. “Why can’t the modern mind see that there is nothing new in communism? It is a groan of despair, not revolution that starts a new age. It is the logical development of civilization which for the last 400 years has been forgetting about God.” 87-8
“The Church knows that after 1900 years’ experience that any institution which suits the spirit of the age will be a widow in the next one. The Church, therefore, will never please either the reactionary or the liberal. She will please only the relatively few who can understand how a house is built on an immutable rock with an abiding proprietor, Peter, has the key that admits strangers. The reactionaries want the rock without the keys; the liberals want the keys without the rock, and we who believe in Christ, who gave both to Peter, want both.” 93
“One convert, socialist writer Heywood Broun took ninety hours because of his desire to be thoroughly informed…. A month after his conversion, Sheen asked Broun for his reaction, and remembered him mentioning three. ‘The first one was great peace of soul and a feeling of being home at last; the second, a realization that much liberalism was extremely illiberal. Some of his friends, he said, who were loudest in shouting for freedom were also loudest in protesting against him because he acted freely.’ Broun said, “I discovered that freedom for them meant thinking as they did.” A third reaction also involved his former leftist colleagues. “It has dawned upon me that the basis of unity in radicalism is not love, but hate. Many radicals love their cause much less than they hate those who oppose it.” Father Dowling’s general observation had proven true” “As regards to radicalism, I have also discovered that no social philosophy is quite as revolutionary as that of the Church.” 111

A Baby - Mother - God # 2
Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2007
The issue is very clear. It is something that is very obvious. Human life begins at the moment of conception.
All philosophies and all theologies aside take a look at biology. Pick up any biology book in the world. And that biology book will tell you that human life begins at the moment of fertilization.
You have got there already the total genetic code of that new unique human individual so that the eye color is determined. The hair color is determined. The sex and skin color is determined. The natural talent which has a genetic origin is already determined.
All this child now is going to receive from the outside world is nourishment, first of all from the mother and then nourishment outside the womb. This is going to be a growth and development of that reality.
In 1981, April 23-24th, The Senate Judiciary Sub-Committee held hearings on this very question. When does life begin? And really it is an obvious issue right for us to take it for granted.
But they brought in these experts, internationally known geneticists and biologists from all over the world. Let us listen to some of their responses.
Dr. Michaelene M. Matthews Ross from the Harvard Medical School gave conforming testimony supported by references from over 20 embryology and other medical textbooks that human life began at fertilization. Human life begins at conception.
Obviously, the father of modern genetics. Dr. Jerome Lejeune told the law makers to accept the fact that after fertilization has taken place; a new human has come into being. It is not a matter of taste or opinion. It is plain experimental evidence.
Dr. McCarthy DeMire, doctor and professor at the University of Tennessee testified that the exact moment of the beginning of personhood and of the human body is at the moment of conception.
Dr. Alfred Bonjavene, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine said I am no more prepared to say that these early stages represent incomplete human beings that I would be to say that the child prior to the dramatic effects of puberty is not a human being.
Addendum:
On Thurs. Sept. 20th, I attended a dinner-talk in Irvine. I asked Dennis Prager, the speaker this question. Is the politician who promotes abortion, assisted-suicide, euthanasia, same-sex marriage, and embryonic stem cell research, spiritually, morally and intellectually bankrupt? He said yes and gave reasons for the yes.
Now we have a Catholic-in-name-only religion by the CINOPS promoting the above evils. They are not only spiritually bankrupt but also politically. Is the Catholic Laity going to be silent about all this?

Questions for St. Francis of Assisi
Monday, Sept. 24, 2007
Questions on Can a Catholic Be a Democrat?
It is my understanding that we are not to judge, but to love, I think it was St. Francis of Assisi (I may be wrong, but it speaks of his spirituality) gave us a very profound method to evangelize our faith, “Preach the Gospel Daily, when necessary, use words.” {We continue and try to answer your question.}
St. Francis of Assisi lived in times when the Church had serious problems, similarly to our own. He loved the Church and was loyal to the Magisterium and its teachings. St. Francis would preach the gospel truth of Jesus. Forgiveness and conversion would be his two other goals. Today, he would follow in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict VI. He would have a refresher course for all.
For an enhancement of faith and mediation: The Dialectic of Secularism: on Reason and Religion, Mary the Church at the Source, The Meaning of Christian Brotherhood, God is Near to Us, Gospel Catechesis and Catechism, All of the above by Ratzinger/Benedict, Ignatius Press. St. Francis would give a test to all bishops. Those who fail are out of any leadership positions. But they can pray for an increase in faith and be retested. Those involved with scandals, he would remove.
St. Francis would listen; and act upon what these two popes are preaching, literally and not figuratively. He would fight the dictatorship of relativism and the culture of egotism and selfishness. He would love and convert the enemies of the Church. He would win. The spirit of the world does not trust in the truth. They are afraid of the truth.
St. Francis would be focusing on the second largest religious group in America. After the Catholics, we have the lukewarm, cafeteria-type, generic Catholics. He would be doing outstanding missionary work among them. He would be deeply disturbed by their role models, the Catholic-in-name-only politicians, (CINOPS) and their supporters within the Church and in Catholic Universities. He would consider the progressives as misinformed and regressive.
One of St. Francis’s role models in the U.S. would be Archbishop Raymond L. Burke, bishop of St. Louis, Missouri. Bishop Raymond wrote in the latest edition of the Canon Law journal, Periodica De R Canonica wrote an article calling his brother bishops to task for their silence on the problems of Catholic politicians who support abortion, euthanasia, cloning, embryo research and the homosexual political agenda or other legislation “contrary to the natural moral law.” Another role model would be Father Frank Pavone & the work they are doing as Priests for Life.
St. Francis in conjunction with the documents of Vatican II would call upon the Catholic laity to get involved in the public arena: pray, stand up and speak out. For example in Orange County, California, a rosary prayer and education vigil in front or nearby the offices of CINOPS State Senator Lou Correa and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez would be a normal activity. Come back to your Catholic faith. Hell is an eternal choice. Possibly, St. Francis would encourage the establishment of dozens of blogs throughout the country, similar to CINOPS BE GONE where this article is posted.

Pope Benedict XVI - Pessimism = Optimism?
Friday, Sept. 21, 2007
September 13th- Entry
“In the Christian catalogue of virtues, despair – that is, the radical opposite of faith and hope – listed as a sin against the Holy Spirit, because it fails to take into account his power to heal and forgive and this rejects redemption.
“Correspondingly, in the new religion, “pessimism” is the sin of all sins, for doubt with regard to optimism, progress, and utopia is a frontal attack on the spirit of the current age: …
“All this brought to my mind again by the debate occasioned by the publication in 1985 of my “Report on the State of the Church” { published in English as The Ratzinger Report: An Exclusive interview on the State of the Church (San Francisco: Ignatius Press, 1985)}.
“The indignation aroused by this simple book climaxed in the condemnation: a pessimistic book. In many places attempts were even made to prevent the sale of it because a heresy of such magnitude was just not to be tolerated.
“Those who subscribed to this public opinion put the book on the Index of Forbidden Books: the new Inquisition revealed its strength.
“It was once again evident that there was no greater sin against the spirit of the age than to put oneself into a position where one can be accused of a lack of optimism. The question was certainly not: “Is what has been said true? Are the diagnosis right or wrong?” I have been able to find no evidence that anyone took the trouble to investigate such outmoded questions.
“The criterion was very simple: Is it or is it not optimistic?” And given this criterion, the book was, of course, condemned.
September 20, 2007 - Entry
“It was in the first half of the seventies that one of our friends made a trip to Holland…. In his report all the signs of disintegration about which we had heard so much: empty seminaries for priests, religious orders with no rising generation, priests and religious – both men and women – turning their backs in droves on their religious vocation, the disappearance of confession, the dramatic decline in attendance at Mass, and so on….
“The real surprise in the report was, the evaluation in which it led: in spite of everything the Church in Holland is still an imposing institution, for there is nowhere any evidence of pessimism, everyone faces the future full of optimism.
“This phenomenon of universal optimism makes one forget the decadence and all the marks of disintegration; it is strong enough to balance all the negative elements.
“I reflected to myself: What would we be likely to think of businessman whose ledger showed only red figures but who, instead of recognizing the dark side, seeking its roots, and taking courageous action to repair it, relied solely on his optimism to recommend him to his creditors? What are we to think of this glorification of optimism that has absolutely no basis in reality?”

Jesus Preaches:
Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007
Jesus told them, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
“You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father.”
Jesus said, “If you love me obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads all to the truth. “
And remember, my words are not my own. This message is from the Father who sent me.
I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
You cannot be fruitful apart from me.
I command that you love each other in the same way that I love you. And here is how to measure it – the greatest love is shown when people lay down their lives for their friends. You are my friends if you obey me. You didn’t choose me. I chose you.
I command you to love each other. Anyone who hates me hates my Father, too.
But I will send you the Counselor – the Spirit of truth. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth.

A Baby, Woman, God
Wed. Sept. 19, 2007
In Genesis 2:7 we see the creation of Adam. God blew into Adam the breadth of life and he became a living being. And we look at Genesis, Ch. 4.1 and it says that Adam unite with his wife Eve. She conceived and said I have acquired a man from the Lord.
So Adam and Eve were involved in the conception of their first child but so is God. God directly created the human soul which is destined to live for all eternity. And the child is called to become into an intimate relationship with God.
The more we come to worship God, the more we come to know God, the more the Holy Spirit is going to fill us with a tremendous respect and reverence towards every human being.
And we see this gradually happening in the ancient world. Abortion and infanticide was something that was very common in the pagan world and gradually as Christianity began to be like a leaven going throughout the world, infanticide and abortion began to disappear.
Because with the communication of the spirit of Christ and with the transformation of society and the hearts of people within society gradually people become more aware that every human being is supposed to be respected even from the time of being within the mother’s womb.
So gradually we started to have laws developing in Western society influenced by Christianity that no longer permitted abortion and certainly not infanticide.
Now with our Western culture again returning to the practice of abortion, we see that we have lost something of this reverence for God and although we still claim to be in many ways a Christian society at least in this aspect of our society we are a pseudo-Christian society.
There is the appearance of Christianity but the heart is not there, the essence is not there. For to be truly Christian we need to be led to reverence every human being from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.

COLUMBIA
Take any past issue of Columbia magazine and you will discover a rich living heritage of our Roman Catholic Faith. Always with some action required. If it is going to be; it is up to you and me as Knights.
Review the March Issue (2002) of Columbia magazine titled: Defending the Inalienable Right to Life. From the Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson: His message reads: -
“ … During the 1990’s journalists spoke often about a “culture war” in American society....members of the Knights of Columbus knew what they were talking about. For decades we have been championing the cause of pro-life, working to defend the sanctity of marriage and the rights of the family, and speaking out for decency in the media.
… They (culture wars) are won or lost by the way people live – by the strength of their commitment in what they believe.” P. 3
From Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua: “Announce Glad Tidings of the Gospel of Life.” The first annual Knights of Columbus – Day of the Unborn Child on March 25th offers new opportunities for members and their families to build a Culture of Life…. REAFFIRMING LIFE in reflecting on the mystery of the Annunciation, we see how Mary’s example of fearless faith and selfless giving are relevant to the pro-life movement’s continuance. It is only with fearless faith that we can confront the Culture of Death so pervasive in our society…. Knights of Columbus have been messengers of hope for more than a century and advocates of life par excellence. Your devotion to the mission of the Church brings glad tidings to millions, and the outstanding service evident in the Order’s nearly 12,000 active councils is a living legacy of faith & charity.”
From Joseph Pronechen, “My Lord and My God” p. 20-22 “ The Blessed Sacrament is not some thing, it is Someone.” … Father Goedert finds that teaching the basic Catholic doctrine that the sacred Host is really and truly Jesus present in his body, blood, soul and divinity, “has an impact on a lot of people.” …Knights to Sponsor Congress, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will be the center of attention at the first Knights of Columbus Eucharistic Congress to be held June 22-23 at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. …Pope John Paul II constantly pleads for adoration everywhere…”
Knights in Action: - Supreme Council News: p. 24-25 Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson led an estimated crowd of 100,000 pro-life supporters in the Pledge of Allegiance prior to the start of the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., Jan. 22. The event marked the 29th anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion…. Order gives $1 Million to World Youth Day 2002 (Toronto, July 22-28th). …The Supreme Knight said the Order would work to “carry on the redemptive mission of Jesus Christ and evangelize in His name.”

Questions of Report # 6, David Carlin's Book # 2
Question # 2 "It is my understanding that we are not to judge, but to love. (I think it was St. Francis of Assisi (I may be wrong, but it speaks of his spirituality) gave us a very profound method to evangelize our faith, 'Preach the Gospel Daily, when necessary, use words.'"
It has been said that a short but fervent prayer will usually do more to bring about a conversion than long discussions of fine speeches. It may take a few more Mondays to answer your question. Let's start with excerpts of a pro-life message I put into the Knights of Columbus monthly bulletin for Oct. 2003. (Sept. 14, 2003) We will continue next Monday.
Shake the Dust from Your Feet
I have listened to Father Shannon Collins’ homily more than a dozen times. Where do I start?
Father Collins wants our role model to be St. Francis of Assisi. St. Francis spent hours in prayer. The Lord answered. “Go forth Francis and rebuild my church for it is falling down.” He headed to Rome and founded the Franciscan order. Pope Innocent III saw in Francis a true and loving reformer. The Church was in trouble like it is today. Pope John Paul II seeks like minded reformers. Archbishop Sean P. O’Malley, a Capuchian Franciscan of Boston is one of them.
“This idea of entering into a dialogue with the world has not worked.
(Gaudium et Spes) What can Christ and His Mystical Body learn from the world? We have the fullness of grace. The Council Fathers failed to read the signs of the times in the 60’s and 70’s. We were unprepared. The pagan dust has clouded our vision. We were poor instruments of the Holy Ghost.
“It was to be a new Pentecost and a new Spring Time. Cardinal Wright said, “There is no spring time of Faith, there is a winter of unbelief.” The world is not looking for Common Ground with the Church. It is looking to take ground from the Church and it has succeeded. We are breathing in the pagan dust. There exists liturgical abuses and the papal authority is disdained and ridiculed. Today is like the times of St. Francis.
“The idea of dialoging with dissenters is questionable. Many of them hate Holy Mother Church. There is devastation in the vineyard. In 1965, we had 50,000 seminarians. Today there are 4700. The ordination of priests was 1600; today there are 450. We had 3 out of 4 attend Mass on Sundays. Today, it is one out of four. The renewal has not been a success. Let us stop this compulsory optimism and having a good face. We are living in a culture of death which is determined to destroy our beliefs and our country. We are in a cultural war.”
Father Collins has a quotation from G.K. Chesterton. “Do you know what is wrong with the Church? I AM. I am what is wrong with the Church.” We can start with the little things. There is a Life Chain coming up in several areas of Orange County. Ours is on Oct. 5th, 2003, Respect Life Sunday, at the corner of Beach Blvd. and Garden Grove Blvd., from 2:30 – 3:30 P.M. Also we have the Recall Election on Tues. Oct. 7th. We can vote for a pro-life governor. We are in the Year of the Rosary for private prayers at home, and in Church for church unity and public prayers at the abortion sites.
The time has come to tell it like it is. The spirit of the world cannot accept truth. Political correctness prostitutes the meaning of words. Marriage is one example. Same-sex marriage is fruitless and sterile. That is what the culture of death is. It is time to confront the world, proclaim the gospel and conquer men and women for Christ. The Word of God has infinite power. Repent and believe in the Gospel and be converted.
“Now go forth and rebuild my Church for it is falling down.”
Fraternally yours,

A Classic on Marriage by James C. Dobson, # 2 of 2
In Defending Marriage — Take the Offensive!
Dr. Dobson's Newsletter: April, 2004
The following is part 2 of 2 (Pages 4 and 5)
This apocalyptic and pessimistic view of the institution of the family and its future will sound alarmist to many, but I think it will prove accurate unless—unless—God's people awaken and begin an even greater vigil of prayer for our nation. That's why Shirley and I are urgently seeking the Lord's favor and asking Him to hear the petitions of His people and heal our land. As of this time, however, large segments of the church appear to be unaware of the danger; its leaders are surprisingly silent about our peril (although we are tremendously thankful for the efforts of those who have spoken out on this issue). The lawless abandon occurring recently in California, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Washington and elsewhere should have shocked us out of our lethargy. So far, I'm alarmed to say, the concern and outrage of the American people have not translated into action.
This reticence on behalf of Christians is deeply troubling. Marriage is a sacrament designed by God that serves as a metaphor for the relationship between Christ and His Church. Tampering with His plan for the family is immoral and wrong. To violate the Lord's expressed will for humankind, especially in regard to behavior that He has prohibited, is to court disaster.
Here's the question of the hour: How can we stop the imperious courts and rogue local officials from overriding the will of the people, who continue to oppose homosexual marriage by a wide margin? There is only one answer. It is for the Congress and the state legislatures to pass a Federal Marriage Amendment to define this historic institution exclusively as being between one man and one woman. That is the passion of my heart at this stage of my life. Seven times in the past few months, I have joined more than 50 pro-family leaders in Washington, D.C., imploring members of Congress to protect the family while there is still time. I'm told that there is a brief window, now that the President has expressed his strong support, when a Federal Marriage Amendment might be possible. Still, the opposition to its passage is formidable.
It is terribly difficult to pass a constitutional amendment under the best of circumstances. It requires a two-thirds majority of both houses of Congress and passage by three-fourths of the state legislatures. That has only occurred 27 times in our 228 year history.14 It will certainly not be easily accomplished this time. As I write, 34 senators (seven Republicans and 27 Democrats) are reportedly planning to vote against the FMA.15 Nothing short of a national outcry by the citizens of this country will secure the necessary support. We heard that repeatedly last week when we were on Capitol Hill. This is a time of destiny for our great nation.
Despite the danger that confronts us, I am hopeful that the death of the family can be averted. Most Americans still believe in the Judeo-Christian system of values, and millions of them are people of faith who are calling on the Lord for a miracle on behalf of our nation. That is the source of our confidence at such a perilous time.
As we approach the National Day of Prayer (NDP) on May 6, I am beseeching our brothers and sisters to pray in the public square for the survival of the institutions of marriage and parenthood, and to rally for the restoration of our First Amendment rights that are being stripped away, inch by inch. The theme of this year's NDP is "Let Freedom Ring," taken from Leviticus 25:10, which reads, "Proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants" (NIV).
In addition to gathering on the National Day of Prayer, we are suggesting that our friends and supporters participate in what the NDP Task Force is calling "Freedom Five." The purpose is to commit five minutes a day to pray for the five centers of power. They are education, the media, the church, the family and the government (especially the judiciary). Perhaps a million people across the country will join in this effort. For information about NDP or about other prayer observances in your area of the country, please see the clickable map found at www.nationaldayofprayer.org.
I will leave you with this familiar story told in 2 Chronicles 32. There we read about King Hezekiah who had served God "wholeheartedly" during his reign. However, he eventually faced a terrible crisis when Sennacherib, King of Assyria, invaded Judah with 185,000 well-armed and trained warriors. They wiped out the defenders of every city that lay in their path. Then they laid siege to Jerusalem and demanded that Hezekiah surrender or be totally destroyed.
These are the irreverent words shouted by Sennacherib to Hezekiah and his defenders who were standing on the wall:
4
"Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the other lands? Were the gods of those nations ever able to deliver their land from my hand? Who of all the gods of these nations that my fathers destroyed has been able to save his people from me? How then can your god deliver you from my hand? Now do not let Hezekiah deceive you and mislead you like this. Do not believe him, for no god of any nation or kingdom has been able to deliver his people from my hand or the hand of my fathers. How much less will your god deliver you from my hand?"(2 Chronicles 32:13-15, NIV).
Hezekiah along with the prophet Isaiah did what you and I would have done under those distressing circumstances. They cried out to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for deliverance. Hezekiah also encouraged his countrymen with these inspired words: "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the King of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. With him is only the arm of flesh, but with us is the Lord our God to help us and to fight our battles" (2 Chronicles 32:7-8, NIV).
And indeed, the Lord did intervene as a result of the prayers of His people, delivering them from the hands of their enemies. That story should be of great encouragement to every believer who faces overwhelming odds at a time of great distress.
To summarize, let me say that Focus on the Family will not waver during this time of national urgency. By working with the other pro-family organizations and thousands of committed churches throughout the nation, we will strive to defend the principles that matter most. In so doing, we will likely be attacked, misquoted and maligned by the liberal media and by those whose views on marriage and sexuality are radically different from our own. We would covet your prayers during this time of intense debate. No matter what the odds, we are determined to stay the course. And may our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, bless us as we do.
Will you join me in this closing prayer?
"Heavenly Father, our great and magnificent King, we ask You to intercede on behalf of the institution of marriage and plead with You to save the family from those who would destroy it. With them is only 'an arm of flesh,' but our appeal is to the God of the universe who has never lost a battle. We do not deserve Your mercy, but we kneel humbly before You today and repent of our sin and disobedience. When the history of this era is written, let it be remembered as a time when righteousness was rediscovered and when the wickedness of this day would be transformed by a nationwide spiritual renewal that would sweep through the land. For this, we and future generations will be forever grateful."

A Classic on Marriage by Dr. James C. Dobson # 1 of 2
FAMILY NEWS FROM FOCUS ON THE FAMILY
In Defending Marriage — Take the Offensive!
Dr. Dobson's Newsletter: April, 2004
Dear Friends:
I write to you today with a profound sense of concern and apprehension for the welfare of the family, and indeed, for the future of our nation. I do not recall a time since the beginnings of Focus on the Family, 27 years ago, when the institution of marriage faced such peril, or when the forces arrayed against it were more formidable or determined. Barring a miracle, the family as it has been known for more than five millennia will crumble, presaging the fall of Western civilization itself. This is a time for concerted prayer, divine wisdom and greater courage than we have ever been called upon to exercise.
For more than 40 years, the homosexual activist movement has sought to implement a master plan that has had as its centerpiece the utter destruction of the family. The institution of marriage, along with an often weakened and impotent Church, is all that stands in the way of its achievement of every coveted aspiration. Those goals include universal acceptance of the gay lifestyle, discrediting of Scriptures that condemn homosexuality, muzzling of the clergy and Christian media, granting of special privileges and rights in the law, overturning laws prohibiting pedophilia, indoctrinating children and future generations through public education, and securing all the legal benefits of marriage for any two or more people who claim to have homosexual tendencies. These objectives that seemed unthinkable just a few years ago have largely been achieved or are now within reach. All that remains is for the movement and its friends in the media, the entertainment industry, the professions, the government and the military, to deliver the coup de grace to a beleaguered institution that was given to humanity by the Creator in the Garden of Eden. We in North America and Europe are not simply "slouching towards Gomorrah," as Judge Robert Bork warned in his best-selling book1; we are hurtling toward it.
To cite another metaphor, the old earthen dam that has held and protected the reservoir of Judeo-Christian values and beliefs since the days of our Founding Fathers has been leaking for decades. Even the most casual observer has witnessed greater structural damage each passing year. But in recent weeks, the entire superstructure appears to have given way. What thousands of homosexuals in San Francisco have achieved represents the collapse of the rule of law, with no legal or governmental official being willing or able to stop it or provide more than a temporary stay. A revolution of striking proportions now looms before us.
This is distressing for many reasons, including the historical perspective of Focus on the Family. We have fought for "the preservation of the home" since I left academia in 1977. That phrase appeared at the bottom of the first printed stationery, which summarized what we were attempting to do. We've been frantically waving a red flag ever since, warning our listeners and readers that the family was in mortal danger. Aided and abetted by arrogant, unaccountable and unelected judges who are determined to implement their vision of political correctness, thousands of unlawfully "married" gays and lesbians are fanning out across the nation, preparing civil rights suits and demanding recognition by the courts. Given the outrageous decision in Lawrence v. Texas (the so-called "sodomy case") and the disturbing rationale for it written by one of the most dangerous men in America, Justice Anthony Kennedy2, there can be little doubt that the U.S. Supreme Court will soon "find" a provision in the Constitution that guarantees homosexual marriage. If the people accept that decision passively, the issue will never be in question again. The institution of the family will have been destroyed.
1
Well, so what? How would sanctioning marriage between homosexuals be harmful to society? Why shouldn't the family, which they see as outmoded and irrelevant, be broadened and modernized? What harm could possibly be done by yielding to the demands of gays and lesbians? These are among
the questions being asked frequently by the secular media, which is almost always biased in its responses. Columnist Steve Blow, for example, recently published an op-ed piece in the Dallas Morning
News that addressed the question, "Gay Marriage: Why Would It Affect Me?" Blow said he had read one of my recent letters on this subject and disagreed emphatically with my perspective. He wrote:
". . . when opponents talk about the 'defense of marriage,' they lose me. James Dobson's Focus on the Family just sent out a mailer to 2.5 million homes saying: 'The homosexual activists' movement is poised to administer a devastating and potentially fatal blow to the traditional family.' And I say, 'Huh?' How does anyone's pledge of love and commitment turn into a fatal blow to families?"3
I will try to help Mr. Blow understand our concern, although I doubt if he really wants to "get it." He seems committed to "political correctness," along with others who hide in places where logic and facts cannot penetrate. Nevertheless, I'll offer 10 powerful arguments against lumbering into this untested and unprecedented social experiment, as follows:
The implications for children in a world of decaying families are profound. A recent article in the Weekly Standard described how the advent of legally sanctioned gay unions in Scandinavian countries has already destroyed the institution of marriage, where half of today's children are born out of wedlock.4 It is predicted now, based on demographic trends in this country, that more than half of the babies born in the 1990s will spend at least part of their childhood in single-parent homes.5 Social scientists have been surprisingly consistent in warning against this fractured family. If it continues, almost every child will have several "moms" and "dads," perhaps six or eight "grandparents," and dozens of half-siblings. It will be a world where little boys and girls are shuffled from pillar to post in an ever-changing pattern of living arrangements—where huge numbers of them will be raised in foster-care homes or living on the street (as millions do in other countries all over the world today). Imagine an environment where nothing is stable and where people think primarily about themselves and their own self-preservation.
The apostle Paul described a similar society in Romans 1, which addressed the epidemic of homosexuality that was rampant in the ancient world and especially in Rome at that time. He wrote, "They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless" (v. 29-31, NIV). It appears likely now that the demise of families will accelerate this type of decline dramatically, resulting in a chaotic culture that will be devastating to children.
The introduction of legalized gay marriages will lead inexorably to polygamy and other alternatives to one-man, one-woman unions. In Utah, polygamist Tom Green, who claims five wives, is citing Lawrence v. Texas as the legal authority for his appeal.6 This past January, a Salt Lake City civil rights attorney filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of another couple wanting to engage in legal polygamy.7 Their justification? Lawrence v. Texas. The ACLU of Utah has actually suggested that the state will "have to step up to prove that a polygamous relationship is detrimental to society"—as opposed to the polygamists having to prove that plural marriage is not harmful to the culture.8 Do you see how the game is played? Despite 5,000 years of history, the burden now rests on you and me to prove that polygamy is unhealthy. The ACLU went on to say that the nuclear family "may not be necessarily the best model."9 Indeed, Justice Antonin Scalia warned of this likelihood in his statement for the minority in the Lawrence case.10 It took less than six months for his prediction to become reality.
Why will gay marriage set the table for polygamy? Because there is no place to stop once that Rubicon has been crossed. Historically, the definition of marriage has rested on a bedrock of tradition, legal precedent, theology and the overwhelming support of the people. After the introduction of marriage between homosexuals, however, it will be supported by nothing more substantial than the opinion of a single judge or by a black-robed panel of justices. After they have done their wretched work, the family will consist of little more than someone's interpretation of "rights." Given that unstable legal climate, it is certain that some self-possessed judge, somewhere, will soon rule that three men and one woman can marry. Or five and two, or four and four. Who will be able to deny them that right? The guarantee is implied, we will be told, by the Constitution.
2
Those who disagree will continue to be seen as hate-mongers and bigots. (Indeed, those charges are already being leveled against those of us who espouse biblical values!) How about group marriage, or marriage between relatives, or marriage between adults and children? How about marriage between a man and his donkey? Anything allegedly linked to "civil rights" will be doable. The legal underpinnings for marriage will have been destroyed.
An even greater objective of the homosexual movement is to end the state's compelling interest in marital relationships altogether. After marriages have been redefined, divorces will be obtained instantly, will not involve a court, and will take on the status of a driver's license or a hunting permit. With the family out of the way, all rights and privileges of marriage will accrue to gay and lesbian partners without the legal entanglements and commitments heretofore associated with it.
With the legalization of homosexual marriage, every public school in the nation will be required to teach that this perversion is the moral equivalent of traditional marriage between a man and a woman. Textbooks, even in conservative states, will have to depict man/man and woman/woman relationships, and stories written for children as young as elementary school, or even kindergarten, will have to give equal space to homosexuals.
From that point forward, courts will not be able to favor a traditional family involving one man and one woman over a homosexual couple in matters of adoption. Children will be placed in homes with parents representing only one sex on an equal basis with those having a mom and a dad. The prospect of fatherless and motherless children will not be considered in the evaluation of eligibility. It will be the law.
Foster-care parents will be required to undergo "sensitivity training" to rid themselves of bias in favor of traditional marriage, and will have to affirm homosexuality in children and teens.
How about the impact on Social Security if there are millions of new dependents that will be entitled to survivor benefits? It will amount to billions of dollars on an already overburdened system. And how about the cost to American businesses? Unproductive costs mean fewer jobs for those who need them. Are state and municipal governments to be required to raise taxes substantially to provide health insurance and other benefits to millions of new "spouses and other dependents"?
Marriage among homosexuals will spread throughout the world, just as pornography did after the Nixon Commission declared obscene material "beneficial" to mankind.11 Almost instantly, the English-speaking countries liberalized their laws against smut. America continues to be the fountainhead of filth and immorality, and its influence is global. The point is that numerous leaders in other nations are watching to see how we will handle the issue of homosexuality and marriage. Only two countries in the world have authorized gay marriage to date—the Netherlands and Belgium.12 Canada is leaning in that direction, as are numerous European countries. Dr. Darrell Reid, president of Focus on the Family Canada, told me two weeks ago that his country is carefully monitoring the United States to see where it is going. If we take this step off a cliff, the family on every continent will splinter at an accelerated rate. Conversely, our U.S. Supreme Court has made it clear that it looks to European and Canadian law in the interpretation of our Constitution.13 What an outrage! That should have been grounds for impeachment, but the Congress, as usual, remained passive and silent.
Perhaps most important, the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be severely curtailed. The family has been God's primary vehicle for evangelism since the beginning. Its most important assignment has been the propagation of the human race and the handing down of the faith to our children. Malachi 2:15 reads, referring to husbands and wives, "Has not the Lord made them one? In flesh and spirit they are His. And why one? Because He was seeking godly offspring. So guard yourself in your spirit, and do not break faith with the wife of your youth" (NIV). That responsibility to teach the next generation will never recover from the loss of committed, God-fearing families. The younger generation and those yet to come will be deprived of the Good News, as has already occurred in France, Germany and other European countries. Instead of providing for a father and mother, the advent of homosexual marriage will create millions of motherless children and fatherless kids. This is morally wrong, and is condemned in Scripture. Are we now going to join the Netherlands and Belgium to become the third country in the history of the world to "normalize" and legalize behavior that has been prohibited by God himself? Heaven help us if we do!
The culture war will be over, and I fear, the world may soon become "as it was in the days of Noah" (Matthew 24:37, NIV). This is the climactic moment in the battle to preserve the family, and future
generations hang in the balance.

9 Months, and 8 Days
The Holy Name of Mary, Sept. 12, 2007
It was the most uplifting and exciting time in history. This has been on my mind for several months and I don’t want it to go away. It was walking and being with Mary who was carrying the baby Jesus in her womb.
It would make a beautiful sermon, book or even movie by any priest or minister.
“O Virgin Mary, how great your cause for joy,
God found you worthy to bear Christ our Savior.”
When you meditate on the Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary you start with the Mystery of the Annunciation. “As Mary accepted with faith her unexpected pregnancy and trusted God to work things out.” Would it not be the most beautiful time on earth to live at that time and be a carpenter’s apprentice to St. Joseph and escort Mary to the Visitation, the second Mystery of the Rosary?
“As Mary and Elizabeth ministered to each other and shared their joy together, may we serve pregnant mothers who are in need?”
And then Christ came at Bethlehem in the form of a baby at the Nativity. May God come to each woman who conceives a child? And we celebrate Christmas, the happiest time of the year.
And shortly thereafter, the Mystery of the Presentation: “Mary and Joseph presented the child Jesus in the temple in accordance with the prescriptions of Jewish law.”
“May we never fail to observe the moral prescriptions of our Church in our lives?”

The Media, Money, Political Correctness and The CINOP
Oct. 20, 2005 - Feast of St. Paul of the Cross
All of the above promote a secular America as they continually denigrate traditional America. A secular America is godless and has no moral compass. It is an ACLU and European type of society. George Weigel wrote a salient book on the European phenomena. (The Cube and the Cathedral)
The U.S. secular media is smart. They just love pro-abortion Catholic politicians and dissenting Catholics. They prop them up in the media with the bait of status, power and money for higher political office. All you have to do is betray your Catholic faith for the secular religion. That is political correctness.
Who is a CINOP? We have heard of a RINO (republican in name only). The CINOP is a Catholic In Name Only Politician. He is more than a pro-abortion Catholic politician. He is often pro-partial birth abortion, for same sex marriage laws, assisted suicide bills, and embryonic stem cell research. A few of these legislators in Orange County have also come out in opposition to Proposition 73 Parental Notification Initiative. They are State Senator Joe Dunn, Assembly Member Tom Umberg, and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. I’ve met the three.
Never mind selling out your constituents and what they believe in. Arrogant ambition and a secular mindset are what matters to them. Without the CINOP, (Catholic in name only politician) the secular agenda cannot succeed in America. On the other hand in California, the secularists have had outstanding success with the help of the CINOP. They have had great ability to dupe the Catholic voter. The CINOP is a dangerous Trojan horse in the Catholic and public sector arena.
The CINOP has publicly and explicitly rejected key church doctrines which are absolutely evil and are not of a prudential type. He has withdrawn from and excommunicated himself from the Catholic Church. He is also a disgrace to a once great Democratic Party which has been taken over in California by radical agenda driven extremists. It is a fraud to run for office in this manner. It is a scandal.
The CINOP is in both political parties. The governor, a Republican is a type of CINOP. But he vetoed the same-sex marriage bill and is for Proposition 73. In Canada, they call themselves Liberals and in Spain Socialists.
The most serious question is: How is it possible that many Catholic politicians turn out this way? We are asked to pray for their conversion. There is hope. The other day on Oct. 19th, we celebrated the Feast of eight members of the Society of Jesus who were martyred in North America for their faith. Questions on Report # 6 David Carlin's Book
Sept. 10, 2007
Questions on Can a Catholic Be a Democrat?
Why must a Catholic, or for that matter any person of faith, be painted as either Democrat or Republican? We are a people of faith not political affiliations. (from my perspective, completely opposites.)
When a Catholic is in the public arena and identifies himself as a Catholic you would expect that he will concur with Catholic belief on several fundamental issues like abortion, same-sex marriage, assisted suicide, euthanasia, and stem cell research. These are absolute evils. When he is with any political party that is for that agenda, then you identify him or her with that political party. Also one’s faith is more important than membership in any political party. We want truth in advertising.
It is good news that Report # 6 has brought forward a few good questions. There will be another twenty reports on this book. These reports and letters are now posted on my Blog which is dedicated to the exposure and removal of Catholic-in-name-only politicians. CINOPS BE GONE. Why is this important? The CINOPS have become role models for the generic and lukewarm Catholics. This is scandalous and destructive to evangelizing. (On the weekends, www.cinopsbegone.blogs.com/ has a special for you.)
Today, almost anyone can call himself a Catholic. It is said that the three largest religious groups in the U.S.A are Catholics, generic Catholics and Southern Baptists.
We are in a culture war. It is as real as the Islamist terrorists who want to kill us. The secular progressives are war with traditional America. The culture of death is at war with the culture of life. We have reason, common sense, natural law and the tradition of our Founding Fathers on our side. That is why intelligent voting in 2008 is crucial.
During this past week in Vienna, Pope Benedict XVI has spoken out again that abortion is not a human right. Unborn children have no voice and their right to live exists before anything else. In America abortion is the tip of a bloody iceberg for the other four absolute evils. One deals with the killing of marriage and others with human beings.
Many years ago, I read Whittaker Chambers’ book, The Witness as a necessary information book for everyone in the political arena. It would be a good for all Catholics, particularly the bureaucracy below the bishops to check out David Carlin’s book which provides information on how close American Catholics were with the Democratic Party in the past and the reasons for the divorce.
Next Monday, question # 2 is: It is my understanding that we are not to judge, but to love. I think it was St. Francis of Assissi (I may be wrong, but it speaks of his spirituality) gave us a very profound method to evangelize our faith, “Preach the Gospel Daily, when necessary, use words.”

Report # 6 on David Carlin's Book, Can a Catholic Be a Democrat?
Can a Catholic Be a Democrat?
Sep. 7, 2007
The following is part 2 of 2, of Chapter 1, The Great Transformation, Part 1, Demise of the Political Machines. P. 15-33
“According to the ideology of moral liberalism, the legal and moral right to abortion was an absolute necessity…. In Jan. 1973, only two months after McGovern’s ignominious defeat, the Supreme Court handed down the famous (or notorious) Roe v. Wade ruling, which declared abortion a constitutionally protected right,…
“Moral liberals were also semi-pacifist…. virtually unanimous opposition to the Vietnam War, a view that had a tendency to expand into opposition to war in general….
Personal freedom is good; hence it’s opposite, coercion or compulsion is bad. The military is a hierarchical system based on compulsion; hence, there’s something intrinsically bad about the military…. During the Cultural Revolution: “Make love, not war”… “Practice sexual freedom, and oppose the military.”… seek cuts in the Pentagon budget, a halt to the development of “Star Wars” missile defense shield, and an end to military recruiting on college and university campuses….
“After the 1972 election,… No matter how much their presence displeased others, the pro-choicers, sexual liberationists, and semi-pacifists had won a place in the party…. Moral liberals, however, didn’t see the civil-rights movement as primarily an egalitarian drive. For them it was principally a movement of liberation…. To this day, … liberals still view the black civil rights movement as liberation movement and therefore as a precedent for sexual liberation, now including same-sex marriage. …
“Martin Luther King was one of the great figures in American history. … concluded that racism is a great sin – un-Christian, un-American, harmful to society, and just plain wrong. Yet despite this moral revolution, the myth persists among affluent moral liberals that racism is still a major problem in America….
“…it allows them to think of themselves morally superior to the great majority of their fellow citizens…. It allows them to have a good conscience about being so much more well-off economically than most of their fellow Americans…. As long as racism, not economic inequality, remains the central issue in American political life, today’s Democratic Party … will be the natural home of affluent liberals.
“If women were to be liberated, according to liberation feminism, they must first of all be liberated in their sexuality. The ideal of premarital virginity must be done away with, as must be the sexual double standard generally…. free to divorce husbands they find unsatisfactory and to find new husbands and lovers. And it was absolutely indispensable that contraception and abortion be readily available….
“A still more complete way of keeping men from controlling the sexual lives of women might be for women to be lesbian or at least bisexual…. But since the rights of lesbians were part and parcel of the rights of homosexuals generally, the feminist fight for lesbian rights became a fight for homosexual rights in general….
“Both (moral/cultural liberal and liberation feminist) subscribe to the two central tenets of moral liberalism: The Personal Liberty Principle, or PLP, which says you’re free to do whatever you want, provided you don’t hurt non-consenting others in a direct, obvious, immediate, and tangible way. The Tolerance Principle, which says you must tolerate the conduct of others, provided they don’t hurt non-consenting others….
“Both cultural liberals and liberation feminists were also secularists: predominantly agnostic or atheistic in personal belief hostile towards organized religion in general and traditional Christianity in particularly and committed to replacing traditional Christian morality with moral liberalism.”

St. Thomas Aquinas
September 6, 2007
“Beyond emphasizing reason, neo-Thomist thought also stressed the existence of objective rights and wrongs (natural law), free-will (making one responsible for one’s actions), and the importance of personal moral virtue. Students of Aquinas were intensely involved in historical studies, as well as theology and philosophy, and were usually distinguished by their theological orthodoxy and the assortment of distinctions, definitions, and categories at their command…. p. 43-4
“Fulton Sheen’s, God and Intelligence, was major contribution to neo-Thomism.
The two great problems confronting modern philosophy, Sheen argued were the immanence, or essential nature of God in the universe, and the subjectivity of human thought, which Sheen branded as the “anti-intellectual assault” upon reason, logic, proof, and truth. ‘All religion hangs on the first and all science on the second.’ The answer to both problems, Sheen contended, was the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas. ‘Thomistic Intellectualism is the remedy against anarchy of ideas, riot of philosophical systems and breakdown of spiritual forces.’
“Sadly, Sheen wrote, Thomism had been neglected by modern thinkers…. In place of reason had come ‘religious experience,’ instinct, intuition, and ‘felt contact.’ Over the past half-century ‘men have been learning to find God within rather than without.’ Modern systems, Sheen wrote, contained a threefold interpretation of religious experience. 1. According to the needs of the individual. 2. According to the spirit of the age. 3. According to the evolution of the world.
Along with many other orthodox Catholic thinkers, Sheen would wage war against these pillars of liberal religion and philosophy for the rest of his life.” p. 53-4
The above is taken from Thomas C. Reeves’ book, America’s ‘Bishop’, The Life and Times of Fulton J. Sheen, Encounter Books, San Francisco, 2001
Wanted: Catholic laity orthodox thinkers to write and speak out on the CINOP:
Second Lesson:
“Devoting himself to the perfect study, St. Thomas preoccupied himself with God. To be strengthened in teaching he first of all turned his thoughts to divine matters, for each day when he was about to mount his chair to lecture on or to occupy himself with other sundry affairs, he celebrated one Mass and heard another, or, if he did not celebrate, he would hear two Masses. In this and in prayer – for he was constant in that – he revealed with many tears the sweetness of his mind and devotion to God, from whom nothing is hidden. Thus with the sweetness of contemplation he tempered the scholastic disputations, which were never fruitless. In this way he united study and prayer, which many falsely believe to be incompatible and not to be united.
Third Lesson:
“No one could sufficiently tell how much Saint Thomas has been glorified by the praises of theologians, and how greatly his entire teaching has been acclaimed by sovereign Pontiffs. Upon the requests of almost all the bishops of the Catholic world Leo XIII declared Thomas Patron of Catholic Schools, hoping thereby to offset the contagion of so many philosophical systems which were straying from the truth, to promote the growth of knowledge, and to benefit all mankind.”

Report # 5 - David Carlin's Book, Can a Catholic Be a Democrat?
Can a Catholic Be a Democrat?
September 5, 2007
The following is the gist of Chapter 1, The Great Transformation, Part 1: Demise of the Political Machines: # 1 of 2, p. 5-15, Almost all of it in David Carlin’s own words.
“In the 1930’s and 40’s the Catholic community in the United States, was made up of immigrants and their children and grandchildren who were predominately working class and proudly patriotic….
“The New Deal Democratic Party had a social and economic philosophy that largely coincided with the social teachings of the Church, as found in the papal encyclicals Rerum Novarum (1891) of Leo Xlll & Quadrigensimo Anno (1931) of Pius XI.
“Just after the death of Roosevelt, Harry Truman and other New Dealers transformed the Democratic Party, which during the war had been a great anti-fascist and anti-Nazi party, into a great anti-Communist party. The popes, of course, had always been intensely anti-Communist. What more could a Catholic want?...
`` “Until the years just after World War II, political “machines” and their “bosses” controlled many of America’s cities. In the Democratic Party especially, these machines were singularly powerful, the avenues through which virtually all political influence had to pass….
“Nobody in my town doubted that the local Democratic machine, dominated by Irish-Catholics, was corrupt. Nor is it likely that the corrupt Catholic politicians themselves had strong feelings of guilt. They went following the American Way. They went to church on Sundays….
“But after World War II, the golden age of these Democratic machines, which had just elected Franklin Roosevelt four times to the White House, was over. For one reason, the ethnic base of the machines was changing….
“Unfortunately, for machine politicians, Americans who are educated and middle-class have a rather low level of tolerance for local political corruption…. The GI Bill opened college education to those from lower socioeconomic groups who before the war would never have dreamed of going to college….
“The last hurrah of the machines came at the 1968 Democratic Convention, held in Chicago, where the new-feeble but surviving machine bosses were able to deliver a presidential nomination for one last time, to Hubert Humphrey….
“Humphrey was narrowly defeated by Nixon in November and in the aftermath of the aftermath of the election, the national Democratic Party acting through the so-called McGovern Commission (nicknamed for its chair, U.S. Sen. George McGovern of South Dakota), concluded that the presidential nomination process could no longer be a boss-dominated thing…. Nixon trounced McGovern in 1972 in a landside comparable to the FDR triumph over Alf Landon in 1936….
“The years between 1968 and 1972 brought forward three distinct kinds of liberals battling for the control of the Democratic Party. 1) FDR liberals: A great proportion of these New Deal liberals were themselves labor-union leaders. 2) Civil-rights liberals: They were the liberals of the black civil-rights movement: black and their white sympathizers who held that the most pressing domestic problems of that day was the long and shameful American heritage of anti-black racism that went back through Jim Crow and slavery to the early decades of the seventeenth century. 3) Moral/cultural liberals: The enthusiastic supporters of McGovern had come of age during the cultural revolution of the 1960’s…. Moral liberals were especially concerned with issues of individual freedom in particular, sexual freedom.” To be continued

Random Thoughts:Religious, Intellectual, Moral Fraud
The Most Holy Name of Jesus, Wed. Jan. 3, 2007
Warning: The following is a pro-life tirade. It needs to be suppressed like we do it in the elite media. This writer is unaware that reason, common sense and natural law are obsolete. Today, in our culture we need to get along with one another, be tolerant and not be judgmental. We do this via political correctness (secular thought control) and multiculturalism. (No to Apocalypto)
For example, if you have a so-called Catholic friend, relative or politician who harbors in his mind, thoughts and actions relating to adultery, fornication and pornography, you don’t want this guy around your family or even in government. But do not be judgmental.
The Enron Scandal was a fraud that hurt people financially. Corruption in government is another kind of fraud which undermines the trust we have in elected public officials. There is also media fraud like the New York Times whose perspective and media lenses promote abortion, euthanasia, physician–assisted suicide, human embryonic destruction, human cloning and gay marriage. Regular readers of this media get screwed up not only religiously but also politically.
Take for example the seven decades of so-called anti-war and pro-peace movements. (1940 – 2000) {As a kid of ten years, I recall Pearl Harbor as I watched my elders play cards.} I wish someone would write a book on these Marxist lefties, appeasers of America’s enemies, and haters of traditional America and Religion and anyone who supports that tradition. For Catholics, you toss in liberation theology and you come up with one kind of CINOP. (Catholic in name only politician) The CINOP is promoting a secularist agenda in America. He needs to be thrown out of office and under no circumstance a vote for him. He is a Catholic religious and political fraud.
You love evil more than good; lies more than truth. You love the destructive word, you
tongue of deceit. (1 Corinthians 1:31)
This is a very serious matter of exposing Catholic religious consumer fraud. There are people with a dead conscience. They will attend Mass for political gain. They will have their picture taken of themselves with their baptismal and confirmation certificates. They will receive Holy Communion even though it is sacrilegious for someone in a state of serious sin – such as the public support of abortion – to receive the Eucharist. They do scandal and have no shame.
There was a breadth of fresh air today with the religious funeral of President Gerald Ford. It must have driven the secularist up the wall. So be it. However, there is much more fresh air news from American Life League: ALLNEWS: December, 2006
“Catholic bishops in Colorado united in effort to educate the state’s voters:
“Colorado’s three Catholic bishops issued a statement pointing out the need to reject candidates who support abortion, euthanasia, physician-assisted suicide, human embryonic destruction, human cloning and gay marriage. The Pueblo Chieftain reports the bishops said that candidates who favor or are indifferent to issues described as intrinsically evil do not deserve the Catholic vote.”
It is now up to the informed Catholic laity within their organizations to educate, to step up to the plate, and pass resolutions on the above subject. {You do not have to mention the bishops; it is simple Catholic doctrine} Then forward the resolutions to Catholic organizations within their diocese. Why? Historically, particularly in California and New York, Catholic voters are the most uninformed voting bloc in the country. {Duplicate, and or translate into Spanish}

Cardinal Justin Rigali and President George W. Bush
‘Golden Calf,’ Says Cardinal
National Catholic Register Article, August 19, 2007
Arlington, Va. – Like the Israelites who idolized the golden calf, the pro-life movement is challenged today by “the idolatrous gospel of total autonomy, sheer utility and false mercy,” Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia told a gathering in Arlington.
The cardinal, who chairs the U.S. bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, spoke on the opening day of annual conference of directors of diocesan pro-life offices and state Catholic conferences, sponsored by the bishops’ pro-life secretariat.
“Those who have blind faith in embryonic stem-cell research and its so-called ‘biblical power to cure’ – as House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi called it recently – are worshipping a modern-day false idol,” Cardinal Rigali said. “They are putting their faith in an exaggerated view of the wonders of science and in their own ingenuity to overcome disease and aging.”
Similarly, the Israelites, who in the bible account freed from bondage in Egypt, disobeyed God by worshipping the golden calf while Moses was on Mount Sinai, he said.
“In their impatience, stubbornness and disobedience, they created out of their own possessions – their own jewelry and valuables – a god they could control,” he said. “A god they shaped, rather than one they would be shaped by.”
Those who support abortion “have also exchanged the truth for a lie” by promoting abortion “as a way to further women’s freedom,” Cardinal Rigali said.
“Instead of affirming the inviolable dignity of human life, the dignity of women and respect for the integrity of sexual relations and motherhood, they asset a false notion of freedom made in their own image, a self-made ethic that justifies their own choices,” he said.
But the cardinal cited several signs of encouragement for the pro-life movement, including changing public opinion about abortion, the U.S. Supreme Court decision affirming the ban on partial-birth abortion and the Philadelphia City Council’s quick reversal earlier this year of a declaration that it was “a pro-choice city.”
P.S. I believe that someone should write a book about the most pro-life, pro-woman, pro-family President in U.S. history. With his faith-base initiative programs, several laws protecting the unborn and his two Supreme Court appointees, President Bush deserves that honor. (Be aware that 51 % of the manufactured hatred towards the President is religious-prejudice. 1) He is a practicing Christian and not a Christian-in-name-only. 2) Jesus is his favorite philosopher. 3) He appreciates prayers said for him.)
Hopefully, life, family and tradition will win again in 2008. In a few days, it’s Run Fred Run. CINOP Giuliani will do well with a cabinet post of homeland security. Fred’s victory will drive the secularists and elitists up the wall. (Be aware that 80% of the news media has that elite secular religion and identifies with the Democratic Party agenda.)
