I attended a stimulating conference presented by Truly Catholics presents “Catholic Challenge or Catholic Crisis? The Laity’s Role” First talk:”Who’s in Charge Here, Anyway?” Hierarchy & Authority
These are excerpts on the first talk given by Michael Voris, STB, founder of St. Michael’s Media and RealCatholicTV.com at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 15 – 16, 2011.
The Nightmare of the Church
The danger of being focused on the battle and miss the love: The Church is our Lord’s mystical body of the Church… People know when you are in love. “The desire to be known intimately:” The hole needs to be filled by God who only satisfies.
Because we love Christ so much, that’s why it hurts. “Why does the condition of the Church hurt so much?” It hurts because you love our Lord. There is sadness in heaven for the pain of the Church. To know you are called to do and spread the faith. We have a job to evangelize. The power of the laity:
It is the maxim of Christianity that the innocent pay for the guilty! Look at the list [of things] that keeps us busy. To make me love more in the Church: What do you drop? Human strength and weakness:
Set aside an hour a day. Sit down and read Papal Encyclicals. The love of the Holy Spirit comes through them. Leo XIII – 1890 – “Catholics are born for combat.” Sapientie Christianae. Most encyclicals were written for bishops to read. Encyclical against modernism: Pope Pius X –Pascendi…
When you are in love and it starts to decrease, do you love the faith (Christ) simply not to do what you’re {ought} to do? Have you found a good spiritual book? Here is a St. Francis Xavier question. “What is the quickest way to hell?” The channel of grace flowed through Pontius Pilate without affecting him. It was the same way with Judas.
You must be a reservoir of grace. Being deeply in love with our Lord. The world was redeemed. When we fashion a world that needs God. What more can we do? To be like candles that burn themselves out completely giving light to others.
Ours is a demanding faith, to be totally 100% Catholic. Giving only ¾ loves: The nature of love is to give everything. We need to think in terms of where am I not loving enough of Christ? Money – time – to give specifically for our Lord, to convert ourselves. To study some aspect of the faith and immerse myself and be inspired by this saint.
Monday night for Jesus and find some time for him and we can jettison other things for him… Father Hardin, “Love God as he loves himself.” The Trinity is infinite. We get to be caught up in that love and contemplate like that. Go find something wonderful about the Incarnation or Trinity is first … just God. What does the mind of God think? God is infinite. God thinks about himself…The Son is the Word of the Father and the relationship between them. We are going to be in that for all eternity. We should be concentrating on it now at communion..
