Your Excellency:

There is righteous anger with the Catholic-label politicians. In Canada, they passed same-sex marriage laws in July, 2005. In Massachusetts this year Catholic-label politicians blocked a marriage amendment from being on their state ballot this Nov. 4th. I don’t want the same thing happening in California. That is why the silence of Catholic-label politicians in California is threatening the passage of Proposition 8 the Marriage Amendment.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Let’s take a look at the 14 California Catholic-label politicians in Congress. They are Joe Baca, Xavier Becerra, Dennis Cardoza, George Miller, Grace Napolitano, Nancy Pelosi, Lucille Roybal Allard, Linda and Loretta Sanchez, Hilda Solis, Ellen Tauscher, Mike Thompson and Diane Watson.

ALL OF THE ABOVE VOTED AGAINST THE PARTIAL-BIRTH ABORTION BAN: PASSAGE IN THE 108TH CONGRESS.

I perceive that these politicians do not care about the sacredness of marriage between a man and a woman. I believe that if they want to attach the Catholic-label to their names when running for re-election this year, they need to stand up for marriage in a public press conference before this election on Nov. 4th. If they do not, they should strip themselves of their Catholic identity because it is already causing much scandal and confusion.
Other bishops in California are responsible for all of the above except one. You are our shepherd for Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. You are also responsible for State Senator Lou Correa and Assemblyman Solorio. All three should publicly support Proposition 8 – the California Marriage Amendment even though their political party supports same-sex marriage.

Respectfully in Jesus Christ and His mother Mary,
