Ex-Canadian discusses Notre Dame Scandal

Dear Reverend Father John Jenkins, C.S.R.

This is the fourth in a series of letters on the Notre Dame Scandal. Let me share some thoughts that come to my mind. Veritas, the truth hurts. We have one Roman Catholic American Church, and not two or three.

We don’t want the American Church to be a carbon copy of the Canadian Catholic Church. Can we learn something from the Canadian Bishops disastrous decisions on Humanae Vitae (Of Human Life), abortion and same-sex marriage.

Add to that is Notre Dame University’s infamous example in September, 1984, with Mario Cuomo doing damage control for the Democratic Party after Cardinal O’Connor had spooked Democrats by telling a reporter he couldn’t “see how a Catholic in good conscience can vote for a candidate who explicitly supports abortion.” Hence, general Cuomo was dispatched to the theology department at South Bend, where he returned fire on O’Connor with his now infamous “personally opposed, but” credo on abortion. (Catholic Eye, 3-31-09)

Since then the staff at USCCB has been in bed with the Democratic Party. I call upon USCCB today to compose a theological document on abortion that will shred the thinking of Mario Cuomo. I also call upon Mario Cuomo to retract what he has spoken and written on this subject. Cuomo is the patron saint, the devil of the Catholic-in-name-only politician mindset. This con-operation must cease.

Let’s stop talking only of the tip of the iceberg, abortion. The Democratic Party is today the party of abortion, the party of assisted-suicide, the party of euthanasia, and the party of embryonic stem-cell research and the party of same-sex marriage. Catholic-in-name-only politicians (CINOPS) are the backbone of that party – useful idiots for the Culture of Death. (Pope John Paul II) We have CINOPS in Congress and the Senate who are sponsors of the FOCA bill in Congress. Within the last month, 16 Catholic Senators rejected the conscience clause. How can any clergy and religious look in the mirror and remain registered Democrats?

Also, I did not become an American to create a European Socialist same-sex marriage America on this continent. I could have done that by immigrating to Europe. May I remind everyone what happened to Europe via some Catholic support during the 1930’s to Hitler’s National Socialism and Mussolini’s Fascism.

Let’s change a negative into a positive. There is no doubt that what occurred at Georgetown University on April 14, 2009, provides you with the opportunity to cancel the invitation for President Obama to speak at the graduation ceremony on May 21st. Catholic University’s Victor Nakas stated:

“I can’t imagine, as the bishops’ university and the national university of the Catholic Church that we would ever cover up our religious art or signage for any reason. Our Catholic faith is integral to our identity as an institution of higher education.”
